  • css override not working?

    I have three tabs that change styles when clicked. class="active" gives the tab the same background as the tab content, while class="inactive" has another color. My problem is the text on the tabs, something's weird with the CSS. The default state of class="active" looks as it should, while the inactive tabs are underlined even though my CSS says text-decoration: none !important; and the clicked active tab text becomes extra bold (or maybe it's a shadow).   • Are there any tools that can inline css?

    Because some email clients don't properly render external stylesheets (or even styles within the of an html email message), inlining css is a common approach to try to maintain consistent look and feel between a website and emails. But manually inlining styles is painful and error prone. I'm looking for a way to let users create messages using the same stylesheet as their website uses, but then converts the text to a more email appropriate format prior to sending. While it's certainly possible to write a tool that reads styles and the DOM, injecting the correct inline style for each element, I'm hoping there's already a tool available that does this. Unfortunately, my googling hasn't yielded any useful results. Do you know of any tools that can inline css styles? I'm not picky about the language, though if it's not open source, I'll probably just write my own.

  • Flex 3 - Full unicode support fonts and CSS

    Hi! I'm developping a web application that will be used either in Europe or in Asia (specially Japan -Hiragana, Kanji and Katana-, China and Korea). I'm using the following fonts: - ericssonga628.TTF - HelveticaNeueLTStd-Lt.otf - HelveticaNeueLTStd-LtEx.otf - HelveticaNeueLTStd-Bd.otf - HelveticaNeueLTStd-BdEx.otf When I tried to display Japanese characters, I don't get anything. I guess these fonts don't support East Asian characters... Do you know of any equivalent fonts? Also, I was thinking of creating a CSS for each language (or pack of languages) when the user changes the display language. For example, if the user selects "japanese", I'll use the japanese stylesheet. However, how do I switch from a CSS to another? Thanks in advance for your answers. Regards,

    Is the html tag safe to use in terms of browser support? Or should I generate a root path with PHP which i then add like this <a href="<?=BASE?>somepage.html">somepage</a> which makes up a absolute url. using the base tag like this <base href="<?=BASE?>" /> I am then able to use links like this <a href="somepage.html">somepage</a> now I am fully aware that it would be much easier to just do this without using the base tag: <a href="/somepage.html">somepage</a> but how do I test locally then with a base url of http://localhost/testsite/ ???

The technique works extremely well, but there's one small thing that's always bothered me: the width of the dropdown links is always fixed. Are there any ways to automatically resize the width of the items in a Suckerfish dropdown menu? If not, are there any other CSS-based dropdown menu strategies that can accomplish this?

  • Are these Mozilla-specific CSS styles doing anything?

    I'm working with some CSS (from a Joomla template) like this: div#logo { -moz-background-clip: border; -moz-background-inline-policy: continuous; -moz-background-origin: padding; background: transparent url(../images/head.png) no-repeat scroll 0 0; ... } I've looked up some of those -moz- properties and they seem to be assigned their default values, and if I turn them off in Firebug nothing happens visibly. Would there be a reason to add them to a CSS file? Are they for an old version of Firefox perhaps?

  • HTML reuse, create template

    After about a year doing Asp.net web forms, I stepped out (for the most part) from the .net world. I'm now working on a webapp that uses a lot of client side scripting and uses WebAPI for data access. I have a HTML section that allows note taking. I would like to make this HTML section into a template that I can reuse elsewhere on the site (e.g., insert this piece of HTML code into another web page). I'm a bit befuddled on how to go about this. Think of my problem as trying to create a "user control" in asp.net web forms ... only that I am not using web forms. Just good old fashioned HTML, CSS, Javascript, jquery, and knockout. Conceptually, I'd think that others have been in the same spot as myself. Can anyone elaborate a solution or at least provide some pointers? Thanks !

  • Passing HTML form data in the URL on local machine (file://)

    Hi, I'm building a small HTML/JS application for primary use on local machine (i.e. everything is accessed via file:// protocol, though maybe in the future it will be hosted on a server within intranet). I'm trying to make a form with method="get" and action="target.html", in the hope that the browser will put form data in the URL (like, file://<path>/target.html?param1=aaa&param2=bbb). However, it's not happening (target.html opens fine, but no parameters is passed). What am I doing wrong? Is it possible to use forms over file:// at all? I can always build the url manually (via JS), but being lazy I'd prefer the browser do it for me. ;) Here is my sample form: <form name='config' action="test_form.html" method="get" enctype="application/x-www-form-urlencoded"> <input type="text" name="param1"> <input type="text" name="param2"> <input type="submit" value="Go"> </form>

    Using only HTML, CSS, and Javascript, has the web development world got to a stage where it is possible to display a loading message on the screen until absolutely everything has downloaded before the web page is displayed on the screen? For example, display "loading", until all html, css, javascript, images etc etc have downloaded and can be displayed without the user seeing bits of the website still appearing after the load message has gone?

  • My textarea won't accept any width attributes.

    Hi, for some odd reason the text area I have in my site won't accept the width I tell it to, I've tried to select it three times in the CSS just to make sure! Here is a jsfiddle example that shows what I want, and here is the page where it doesn't want to work. I have searched through the CSS to find any conflicting textarea properties, but there are none.     Suppose I'm given the requiremnt to geneate a few pages that have tables on them. The original requirement is for all tables to be 500px. I'd write my CSS as follows: table { width: 500px; } That will apply accross the board for all tables. Now, what if they change the requirment so that some tables are 600px. What's the best way to modify the CSS? Should I give the tables classes so table.SizeOne { width: 500px; } table.SizeTwo { width: 600px; } Or is there a better way for me to deal with changes like this?
