• Introduction to WebCenter Personalization: “The Conductor”

- by Steve Pepper
There are some new faces in the town of WebCenter with the latest 11g PS3 release. A new component has introduced itself as "Oracle WebCenter Personalization", a.k.a WCP, to simplify delivery of a personalized experience and content to end users. This posting reviews one of the primary components within WCP: "The Conductor". The Conductor: This ain't just an ordinary cloud... One of the founding principals behind WebCenter Personalization was to provide an open client-side API that remains independent of the technology invoking it, in addition to independence from the architecture running it. The Conductor delivers this, and much, much more. The Conductor is the engine behind WebCenter Personalization that allows flow-based documents, called "Scenarios", to be managed and executed on the server-side through a well published and RESTful api. The Conductor also supports an extensible model for custom provider integration that can be easily invoked within a Scenario to promote seamless integration with existing business assets. Introducing the Scenario Conductor Scenarios are declarative offline-authored documents using the custom Personalization JDeveloper bundle included with WebCenter. A Scenario contains one (or more) statements that can: Create variables that are scoped to the current execution context Iterate over collections, or loop until a specific condition is met Execute one or more statements when a condition is met Invoke other scenarios that exist within the same namespace Invoke a data provider that integrates with custom applications Once a variable is assigned within the Scenario's execution context, it can be referenced anywhere within the same Scenario using the common Expression Language syntax used in J2EE web containers. Scenarios are then published and tested to the Integrated WebLogic Server domain, or published remotely to other domains running WebCenter Personalization. Various Client-side Models The Conductor server API is built upon RESTful services that support a wide variety of clients able to communicate over HTTP. The Conductor supports the following client-side models: REST: Popular browser-based languages can be used to manage and execute Conductor Scenarios. There are other public methods to retrieve configured provider metadata that can be used by custom applications. The Conductor currently supports XML and JSON for it's API syntax. Java: WebCenter Personalization delivers a robust and light-weight java client with the popular Jersey framework as it's foundation. It has never been easier to write a remote java client to manage remote RESTful services. Expression Language (EL): Allow the results of Scenario execution to control your user interface or embed personalized content using the session-scoped managed bean. The EL client can also be used in straight JSP pages with minimal configuration. Extensible Provider Framework The Conductor supports a pluggable provider framework for integrating custom code with Scenario execution. There are two types of providers supported by the Conductor: Function Provider: Function Providers are simple java annotated classes with static methods that are meant to be served as utilities. Some common uses would include: object creation or instantiation, data transformation, and the like. Function Providers can be invoked using the common EL syntax from variable assignments, conditions, and loops. For example: ${myUtilityClass:doStuff(arg1,arg2))} If you are familiar with EL Functions, Function Providers are based on the same concept. Data Provider: Like Function Providers, Data Providers are annotated java classes, but they must adhere to a much more strict object model. Data Providers have access to a wealth of Conductor services, such as: Access to namespace-scoped configuration API that can be managed by Oracle Enterprise Manager, Scenario execution context for expression resolution, and more. Oracle ships with three out-of-the-box data providers that supports integration with: Standardized Content Servers(CMIS), Federated Profile Properties through the Properties Service, and WebCenter Activity Graph. Useful References If you are looking to immediately get started writing your own application using WebCenter Personalization Services, you will find the following references helpful in getting you on your way: Personalizing WebCenter Applications Authoring Personalized Scenarios in JDeveloper Using Personalization APIs Externally Implementing and Calling Function Providers Implementing and Calling Data Providers

• low speed web application, Server problem or Application

- by Ashian
Hi, I have a web application written by asp.net (c#) sql server 2005. we host it on 2 dedicated server ( IIS and SQL server ) From some month ago , in some days of week we have many reports about speed issue. we have some other application on this server using same database. when we have speed problem all aplication on these server have this problem, but applications on other server in same data center work correctly. ram and cpu usage are ok. how can I check that the problem related to internet connection or my application design? which parameters must be checked. Some other information In applications users can upload several files to server , each file up to 3 MB. we use a sql web admin application, on same server that has same problem, this is a standard application which work perfectly on other servers. • Rules Manager and Expression Filter getting removed

- by Mike Dietrich
I doubt that many people are using the Oracle features "Rules Manager" and "Expression Filter" as usually people handle these things (such as ensuring that a zip code or a car number plate has a certain format) within the application code and not inside the database. Oracle Beehive for instance uses that just on the side. Anyway, just learned today that Rules Manager and Expression Filter components will get removed once our next database release most likely called Oracle Database 12c will get released. So before upgrading to Oracle Database 12c you can remove EXF and RUL components (SELECT COMP_ID FROM DBA_REGISTRY WHERE COMP_ID IN ('EXF','RUL'); ). You'd simply do that by executing the following script before upgrade:SQL> @?/rdbms/admin/catnoexf.sqlThis will clean up Rules Manager and Expression Filter components inside the database. You could run ?/rdbms/admin/catnorul.sql before but I believe catnoexf.sql will clean up everything already. And you'll find all this information plus guidelines for migration of existing content in MOS Note: 1233535.1 - Obsolescence Notice: Rules Manager and Expression Filter Features of Oracle Database -M.

• How to copy/paste LARGE amounts of text in Windows

- by Johnson
I am not sure if this is more suited for Superuser or Stackoverflow, but here goes... A little bit of background: I'm learning SQL and was trying to make a very large table which I could use for optimization tests. Something generic with random values. I created a little Java program to do just that, and was able to put out a text file with 100,000 lines, each line being an SQL INSERT statement for a new random record. However, with anything much bigger than 100,000 lines, I had problems either opening/using the text file in any text editor, or copying/pasting the text to the windows clipboard and then into SQL Developer so I could execute it as a script. I'm probably overlooking something really obvious, or doing something really stupid. There has got to be a better way to do this, but I couldn't find anything through Google or Stackoverflow or Superuser. Thanks!

• XML Rules Engine and Validation Tutorial with NIEM

- by drrwebber
Our new XML Validation Framework tutorial video is now available. See how to easily integrate code-free adaptive XML validation services into your web services using the Java CAMV validation engine. CAMV allows you to build fault tolerant content checking with XPath that optionally use SQL data lookups. This can provide warnings as well as error conditions to tailor your validation layer to exactly meet your business application needs. Also available is developing test suites using Apache ANT scripting of validations. This allows a community to share sets of conformance checking test and tools . On the technical XML side the video introduces XPath validation rules and illustrates and the concepts of XML content and structure validation. CAM validation templates allow contextual parameter driven dynamic validation services to be implemented compared to using a static and brittle XSD schema approach. The SQL table lookup and code list validation are discussed and examples presented.Features are highlighted along with a demonstration of the interactive generation of actual live XML data from a SQL data store and then validation processing complete with errors and warnings detection. The presentation provides a primer for developing web service XML validation and integration into a SOA approach along with examples and resources. Also alignment with the NIEM IEPD process for interoperable information exchanges is discussed along with NIEM rules services. The CAMV engine is a high performance scalable Java component for rapidly implementing code-free validation services and methods. CAMV is a next generation WYSIWYG approach that builds from older Schematron coding based interpretative runtime tools and provides a simpler declarative metaphor for rules definition. • How often do you review fundamentals?

- by mlnyc
So I've been out of school for a year and a half now. In school, of course we covered all the fundamentals: OS, databases, programming languages (i.e. syntax, binding rules, exception handling, recursion, etc), and fundamental algorithms. the rest were more in-depth topics on things like NLP, data mining, etc. Now, a year ago if you would have told me to write a quicksort, or reverse a singly-linked list, analyze the time complexity of this 'naive' algorithm vs it's dynamic programming counterpart, etc I would have been able to give you a decent and hopefully satisfying answer. But if you would have asked me more real world questions I might have been stumped (things like how would handle logging for an application, or security difference between GET and POST, differences between SQL Server and Oracle SQL, anything I list on my resume as currently working with [jQuery questions, ColdFusion questions, ...] etc) Now, I feel things are the opposite. I haven't wrote my own sort since graduating, and I don't really have to worry much about theoretical things that do not naturally fall into problems I am trying to solve. For example, I might give you some great SQL solutions using an analytical function that I would have otherwise been stumped on or write a cool web application using angular or something but ask me to write an algo for insertAfter(Element* elem) and I might not be able to do it in a reasonable time frame. I guess my question here to the experienced programmers is how do you balance the need to both learn and experiment with new technologies (fun!), working on personal projects (also fun!) working and solving real world problems in a timeboxed environment (so I might reach out to a library that does what I want rather than re-invent the wheel so that I can focus on the problem I am trying to solve) (work, basically), and refreshing on old theoretical material which is still valid for interviews and such (can be a drag)? Do you review older material (such as famous algorithms, dynamic programming, Big-O analysis, locking implementations) regularly or just when you need it? How much time do you dedicate to both in your 'deliberate practice' and do you have a certain to-do list of topics that you want to work on?

• Prevent the "System" process from locking my files in a shared folder.

- by Kamarey
I have an application that creates files to be processed by SQL bulk. The files are created in shared folder on another server and than taken from there by SQL. The problem that sometime SQL returns an error, that the file is locked by another process and can't be accessed. The process that locks these files is "System" process. Looks like it lock files because of they are in a shared folder, but not sure. The use of any software to unlock files manually is not an option, as all bulk process is automatic. The question is: Why the "System" process locks these files and is there a way to prevent this?

• My first blog post…

- by steveh99999
I’ve been meaning to start a blog for a while now, (OK, for several years…..) - finally now, here it begins First post, something really simple but, a wise-man once told me about the best way to improve SQL server performance. Store Less Data. That's it.. that's all there is to it... Over the years, I've seen the following :- - a 200Gb database which held 3 days data. Once business requirements changed, we were able to hold only 1 days data in this database. - a table developed by DBAs to hold application table cardinality information - that information was collected at 2 hour intervals every day for 7 years ! After 7 years the DBA space-info table had become the largest table in the database - 60 million rows ! It was a simple change to remove alot of the historical intra-day data and change the schedule to run only once per evening. Suddenly that table held 6 million rows instead of 60 million.... - lots of backup and restore history held in msdb. See this post by Brent Ozar for more details on this issue. Imagine how much faster the backups, DBCC Checks and reindexes ran when the above 3 changes were implemented ? How often do you review your big databases \ tables to see if you’re actually holding only data that is really required by the business ?

• Windows 7: How to stop/start service from commandline (like services.msc does it)?

- by john
I have developed a program in Java that uses on a local SQL Server instance to store its data. On some installations the SQL Server instance is not running sometimes. Users can fix this problem by manually starting the SQL Server instance (via services.msc). I am thinking about automating this task: the software would check if the database server is reachable, if not try to (re)start it. The problem is that on the same user account the Services can be stopped /started via services.msc (without any UAC prompt), but not via (non-elevated) command line. The operating system seems to treat services.msc differently: c:\>sc start mssql$db1 [SC] StartService: OpenService FEHLER 5: Zugriff verweigert (Access denied) c:\>net start mssql$db1 Systemfehler 5 aufgetreten. Zugriff verweigert (Access denied) So the question is: how can I stop/start the service from a java-program/command line without having my users to use services.msc (preferrably via on-board-tools)

• Power outage, Server 2K3 remains on "applying computer settings"

- by syuroff
My reward for clicking the "test" button in the APC UPS software was that it completely cut the power to my SQL server. The server promptly rebooted, the SQL service is running (verified by the app on another server that queries it), but the GUI has remained on "applying computer settings" for 20 minutes and counting, and it forbids RDC connections. Since SQL is up, it is fulfilling its key role, but it's obviously not right. What step to take next? Wait longer? Hardware is a Dell Poweredge 2850, internal RAID10.

• Don't speak to the DBA while he/she is doing the job?!

- by Uri Dimant
Our DBA was very busy today, he helped out our developers to write efficient code, explained to the programmer how to launch the old DTS package on SQL Server 2005 and etc. You know how it is, someone comes in and asking the question and you answer the question at the same time you are busy to do something. So today answering one of such questions he deleted by mistake very ctitical database. Fortunately, we had zero data loss, thanks to our backup/recovery strategy. I think that is acceptable to say that you are busy right now ,please ask the question later on, what do you think? How do you respond if someone asks you a queston while you are doing something on the server/database and etc.? Share this post: email it! | bookmark it! | digg it! | reddit! | kick it! | live it!

• ORA-00900 Super Easy Fix (for some cases)

- by Bunch
Here is a really easy fix for some ORA-00900 errors. Well at least the one I saw the other day. This was something that I did not come across when searching either. I found lots of other ideas on what the problem might be but not the fix. Since I am fairly new to PL/SQL (TSQL only for a long time) this one stumped me for a while. Until I asked someone and they saw the error in about two seconds. When using the Command Window to add a view I was receiving an ORA-00900 error. So I checked that everything the view was referencing was there and that the permissions looked OK. The code for the view was fairly simple and it ran just fine in a regular SQL Window. It ended up that the Command Window did not like the space I had between the list of items in the select before the from. Bad: col1,col2, <--- does not like the empty linefrom tblSomething Good: col1,col2,from tblSomething I will just chalk that up to my familiarity with PL/SQL. • I am being paid very little(imo), how can I change this? [migrated]

- by LagWagon
I am a web developer with about 4 years of relevant work experience in my field. Recently, I went from making $30/hr working from home contracting for large companies to a full time job that only pays 40k/yr. The company I work for now is great, nice people, but a little behind the times. I joined on with very little experience in SQL development but they put me in charge of querying the DB and making reports right away, so I had to go in head first and pick up that skill right away. Which is great, I'm happy I learned more of that, and really make good time when doing SQL now. However, I'm now doing most of their advanced SQL stuff. The day I started, another employee who was running a MVC project based in Yii (which is the sole item that makes this company software) put in his two weeks. Two weeks later, I'm the only one who knows how to use, access, modify, or update this project. Its quite a large responsibility for an "entry level dev", no? I am doing highly advanced jQuery for them to modernize their forms, webpages, amongst other things, a skill that I would bet on few Entry levels being able to do as well as me. I may be wrong, but I feel that what I'm making now is not acceptable. We don't have reviews, ever, so I can't just wait for that.. so I was wondering.. do I sound justified in wanting to be paid more, and how can I make this happen?

• Delphi: how to create Firebird database programmatically

- by Brad
I'm using D2K9, Zeos 7Alpha, and Firebird 2.1 I had this working before I added the autoinc field. Although I'm not sure I was doing it 100% correctly. I don' know what order to do the SQL code, with the triggers, Generators, etc.. I've tried several combinations, I'm guessing I'm doing something wrong other than just that for this not to work. SQL File From IB Expert : /********************************************/ /* Generated by IBExpert 5/4/2010 3:59:48 PM / /*********************************************/ /********************************************/ /* Following SET SQL DIALECT is just for the Database Comparer / /*********************************************/ SET SQL DIALECT 3; /********************************************/ /* Tables / /*********************************************/ CREATE GENERATOR GEN_EMAIL_ACCOUNTS_ID; CREATE TABLE EMAIL_ACCOUNTS ( ID INTEGER NOT NULL, FNAME VARCHAR(35), LNAME VARCHAR(35), ADDRESS VARCHAR(100), CITY VARCHAR(35), STATE VARCHAR(35), ZIPCODE VARCHAR(20), BDAY DATE, PHONE VARCHAR(20), UNAME VARCHAR(255), PASS VARCHAR(20), EMAIL VARCHAR(255), CREATEDDATE DATE, "ACTIVE" BOOLEAN DEFAULT 0 NOT NULL /* BOOLEAN = SMALLINT CHECK (value is null or value in (0, 1)) /, BANNED BOOLEAN DEFAULT 0 NOT NULL / BOOLEAN = SMALLINT CHECK (value is null or value in (0, 1)) /, "PUBLIC" BOOLEAN DEFAULT 0 NOT NULL / BOOLEAN = SMALLINT CHECK (value is null or value in (0, 1)) */, NOTES BLOB SUB_TYPE 0 SEGMENT SIZE 1024 ); /********************************************/ /* Primary Keys / /*********************************************/ ALTER TABLE EMAIL_ACCOUNTS ADD PRIMARY KEY (ID); /********************************************/ /* Triggers / /*********************************************/ SET TERM ^ ; /********************************************/ /* Triggers for tables / /*********************************************/ /* Trigger: EMAIL_ACCOUNTS_BI */ CREATE OR ALTER TRIGGER EMAIL_ACCOUNTS_BI FOR EMAIL_ACCOUNTS ACTIVE BEFORE INSERT POSITION 0 AS BEGIN IF (NEW.ID IS NULL) THEN NEW.ID = GEN_ID(GEN_EMAIL_ACCOUNTS_ID,1); END ^ SET TERM ; ^ /********************************************/ /* Privileges / /*********************************************/ Triggers: /********************************************/ /* Following SET SQL DIALECT is just for the Database Comparer / /*********************************************/ SET SQL DIALECT 3; CREATE GENERATOR GEN_EMAIL_ACCOUNTS_ID; SET TERM ^ ; CREATE OR ALTER TRIGGER EMAIL_ACCOUNTS_BI FOR EMAIL_ACCOUNTS ACTIVE BEFORE INSERT POSITION 0 AS BEGIN IF (NEW.ID IS NULL) THEN NEW.ID = GEN_ID(GEN_EMAIL_ACCOUNTS_ID,1); END ^ SET TERM ; ^ Generators: CREATE SEQUENCE GEN_EMAIL_ACCOUNTS_ID; ALTER SEQUENCE GEN_EMAIL_ACCOUNTS_ID RESTART WITH 2; /* Old syntax is: CREATE GENERATOR GEN_EMAIL_ACCOUNTS_ID; SET GENERATOR GEN_EMAIL_ACCOUNTS_ID TO 2; */ My Code: procedure TForm2.New1Click(Sender: TObject); var query:string; begin if JvOpenDialog1.Execute then begin ZConnection1.Disconnect; ZConnection1.Database:= jvOpenDialog1.FileName; if not FileExists(ZConnection1.database) then begin ZConnection1.Properties.Add('createnewdatabase=create database '''+ZConnection1.Database+''' user ''sysdba'' password ''masterkey'' page_size 4096 default character set iso8859_2;'); try ZConnection1.Connect; except ShowMessage('Error Connection To Database File'); application.Terminate; end; end else begin ShowMessage('Database File Already Exists.'); exit; end; end; query := 'CREATE DOMAIN BOOLEAN AS SMALLINT CHECK (value is null or value in (0, 1))'; Zconnection1.ExecuteDirect(query); query:='CREATE TABLE EMAIL_ACCOUNTS (ID INTEGER NOT NULL,FNAME VARCHAR(35),LNAME VARCHAR(35),'+ 'ADDRESS VARCHAR(100), CITY VARCHAR(35), STATE VARCHAR(35), ZIPCODE VARCHAR(20),' + 'BDAY DATE, PHONE VARCHAR(20), UNAME VARCHAR(255), PASS VARCHAR(20),' + 'EMAIL VARCHAR(255),CREATEDDATE DATE , '+ '"ACTIVE" BOOLEAN DEFAULT 0 NOT NULL,'+ 'BANNED BOOLEAN DEFAULT 0 NOT NULL,'+ '"PUBLIC" BOOLEAN DEFAULT 0 NOT NULL,' + 'NOTES BLOB SUB_TYPE 0 SEGMENT SIZE 1024)'; //ZConnection.ExecuteDirect('CREATE TABLE NOTES (noteTitle TEXT PRIMARY KEY,noteDate DATE,noteNote TEXT)'); Zconnection1.ExecuteDirect(query); { } query := 'CREATE SEQUENCE GEN_EMAIL_ACCOUNTS_ID;'+ 'ALTER SEQUENCE GEN_EMAIL_ACCOUNTS_ID RESTART WITH 1'; Zconnection1.ExecuteDirect(query); query := 'ALTER TABLE EMAIL_ACCOUNTS ADD PRIMARY KEY (ID)'; Zconnection1.ExecuteDirect(query); query := 'SET TERM ^'; Zconnection1.ExecuteDirect(query); query := 'CREATE OR ALTER TRIGGER EMAIL_ACCOUNTS_BI FOR EMAIL_ACCOUNTS'+ 'ACTIVE BEFORE INSERT POSITION 0'+ 'AS'+ 'BEGIN'+ 'IF (NEW.ID IS NULL) THEN'+ 'NEW.ID = GEN_ID(GEN_EMAIL_ACCOUNTS_ID,1);'+ 'END'+ '^'+ 'SET TERM ; ^'; Zconnection1.ExecuteDirect(query); ZTable1.Active:=true; end;

• Is there more than one jQuery Autocomplete widget?

- by Cheeso
I thought there was only one - included in jQuery UI and documented here. I know there are third-party autocomplete widgets that plug-in to jQuery, like the one from devbridge. But I would describe that as an autocomplete widget for jQuery, rather than the jQuery autocomplete widget. But on Stackoverflow, I see questions asking about an autocomplete widget that does not use the syntax described in the jQuery UI documentation. For example: jquery.autocomplete.js - how does autocomplete work? Jquery AutoComplete Plugin calling Help with jquery autocomplete and json response The jQuery UI syntax looks like this: $("#input1").autocomplete({ source: function(req, responseFn) { ... }, select: function(value, data){ ... } }); Whereas some of those other questions hae a syntax like this: $("#city").autocomplete("CUList.asmx/GetCUList", { dataType: 'jsonp', parse: function(data) { var rows = new Array(); for(var i=0; i<data.length; i++){ rows[i] = { data:data[i], value:data[i].CUName, result:data[i].CUName }; } return rows; }, formatItem: function(row, i, n) { return row.CUName + ', ' + row.CUCity; }, max: 50 }); What's the explanation for the discrepancy? People ask about "jquery autocomplete" without specifying which one. With no direction, shouldn't I assume THE jquery UI autocomplete?

• feedparser - various errors

- by Eiriks
I need feedparser (se http://www.feedparser.org) for a project, and want to keep third party modules in a separate folder. I did this by adding a folder to my python path, and putting relevant modules there, among them feedparser. This first attempt to import feedparser resulted in import feedparser Traceback (most recent call last): File "", line 1, in File "/home/users/me/modules/feedparser.py", line 1 ed socket timeout; added support for chardet library ^ SyntaxError: invalid syntax I found the text "socket timeout; added..." in the comments at the bottom of the file, removed these comments, and tried again: import feedparser Traceback (most recent call last): File "", line 1, in File "/home/users/me/modules/feedparser.py", line 1 = [(key, value) for key, value in attrs if key in self.acceptable_attributes] ^ IndentationError: unexpected indent Ok, so some indent error. I made sure the indent in the function in question where ok (moved some line breaks down to no-indent). And tried again: import feedparser Traceback (most recent call last): File "", line 1, in File "/home/users/me/modules/feedparser.py", line 1 , value) for key, value in attrs if key in self.acceptable_attributes] ^ SyntaxError: invalid syntax As much I google, I cannot find anything wrong with the syntax: def unknown_starttag(self, tag, attrs): if not tag in self.acceptable_elements: if tag in self.unacceptable_elements_with_end_tag: self.unacceptablestack += 1 return attrs = self.normalize_attrs(attrs) attrs = [(key, value) for key, value in attrs if key in self.acceptable_attributes] _BaseHTMLProcessor.unknown_starttag(self, tag, attrs) Now what? Is my approach all wrong? Why do I keep producing these errors in a module that seems so well tested and trusted?

• Indentation annoyance with CSS in Vim

- by Johan Sahlén
I've moved from TextMate to Vim lately, and am really liking the switch. However, I have an itch regarding the way Vim handles indentation within curly braces using the CSS syntax. I use simple_pairs.vim, which may or may not have something to do with my problem, but I don't think so, as things work fine in PHP, JavaScript, etc. Let me explain… I generally group my CSS rules by context using indentation, like so: ul#nav { margin: 10px; } ul#nav li { float: left; margin-right: 4px; } That means when I type my ul#nav li rule, followed by { (which inserts a corresponding } automatically) and hit enter, I want the closing brace to be at the same indentation level as the ul#…, but instead I get something like this: ul#nav { margin: 10px; } ul#nav li { } So I have to indent the extra step(s) manually. Like I said, doing the same thing in PHP, JavaScript, etc, works fine. Does anyone know how I can fix this? I don't understand enough of Vim's syntax definition files for me to be able to figure out what in the PHP syntax file makes it work, and port it over to the CSS one… Thanks.

• Iphone SQLite Databse with german umlauts results in NULL value

- by Daniel
Hi guys, I'm quite new to the Iphone development and after search for an answer for 3 hours now, I hope that you guys can give me a hand. My problem is that I have a SQLite Database with german umlauts. Looking at it with a SQLite browser tool shows me that the data is stored with german umlauts, correctly. But selecting fields with german umlauts in it results in a NULL value. I'm already using "stringWithUTF8String", so I don't get the point where the problem is placed. Here is my code: -(void) readSearchFromDatabase { searchFlag = YES; // Setup the database object sqlite3 *database; // Init the SCode Array searchSCodes = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; // Open the database from the users filessytem if(sqlite3_open([databasePath UTF8String], &database) == SQLITE_OK) { NSString *wildcard =@"%"; // Setup the SQL Statement and compile it NSString *sql = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"SELECT * FROM scode WHERE ta LIKE '%@%@%@' OR descriptionde LIKE '%@%@%@' OR descriptionen LIKE '%@%@%@'", wildcard, searchBar.text, wildcard, wildcard, searchBar.text, wildcard, wildcard, searchBar.text, wildcard, wildcard, searchBar.text, wildcard]; //Creating a const char SQL Statement especially for SQLite const char *sqlStatement = [sql UTF8String]; sqlite3_stmt *compiledStatement; if(sqlite3_prepare_v2(database, sqlStatement, -1, &compiledStatement, NULL) == SQLITE_OK) { // Loop through the results and add them to the feeds array while(sqlite3_step(compiledStatement) == SQLITE_ROW) { // Read the data from the result row NSString *aTa = [NSString stringWithUTF8String:(char *)sqlite3_column_text(compiledStatement, 0)]; NSString *aReport = [NSString stringWithUTF8String:(char *)sqlite3_column_text(compiledStatement, 1)]; NSString *aDescriptionDE = [NSString stringWithUTF8String:(char *)sqlite3_column_text(compiledStatement, 2)]; NSString *aDescriptionEN = [NSString stringWithUTF8String:(char *)sqlite3_column_text(compiledStatement, 3)]; //Results a NULL value NSLog(@"Output: %@", aDescriptionDE); // Create a new SCode object with the data from the database SCode *searchSCode = [[SCode alloc] initWithTa:aTa report:aReport descriptionDE:aDescriptionDE descriptionEN:aDescriptionEN]; // Add the SCode object to the SCodes Array [searchSCodes addObject:searchSCode]; [searchSCode release]; } } // Release the compiled statement from memory sqlite3_finalize(compiledStatement); } sqlite3_close(database); }
