  • Registered Symbol Problem with Flash Mailto Link

    The problem I'm having is an extra  Chracter being added before the ® symbol in the body of an email created from a mailto: link in flash. This only happens on the PC in MS Outlook Instead of: MasterCard®! It shows up as MasterCard®! The code in flash AS3: var req = new URLRequest("mailto:"); var variables = new URLVariables(); variables.body="Blah Blah Blah MasterCard®!"; variables.subject="Make some music!"; req.data = variables; req.method = URLRequestMethod.GET; addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onClick); function onClick(e:MouseEvent) { navigateToURL(req, "_self"); } } This works fine on the mac with mac mail.

  • Empty Structures compile in VB 10+

    This is at least a documentation error, if not a bug. In VB.NET prior to .NET 4.0 (i.e. VB.NET 7 through 9) an empty Structure declaration fails at compile-time with error BC30281: Structure 'MySimpleEmpty' must contain at least one instance member variable or Event declaration. E.g. The following two structures compile successfully in VB10, and not prior: Structure MySimpleEmpty End Structure Public Structure AnotherEmpty Public Const StillEmpty As Boolean = True End Structure I note the documentation for the Error BC30281 stops at VB9, but the documentation for the Structure statement still has the datamemberdeclarations as required even as of VB11 (.NET 4.5 VS2012). These two Structures compile in VB11 (VS2012) as well. (Thanks John Woo.) Is there some blog entry or documentation confirming this is an intended change or a bug in VB10 and later?

  • Compile C++ from VS08/10 without Run Time Library / MFC

    Are there settings I can adjust in Visual Studio so that it does not compile with any run time library or MFC. I started learning C++ to get away from C#'s .Net, and this is just as bad. When I execute the program in a Windows XP virtual machine I get an error. I can compile without the dependencies in Code::Blocks, but I'm more familiar with VS, and prefer many of it's features over those of Code::Blocks. If you know of to get past this, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  • Flash Builder keeps losing my imported classes...arghh

    I've been having this really annoying thing happen the past few days, that has happened before but not as frequently. I create a project in Flash Builder, import some classes, and then on occasion it keeps erasing those classes. So then I get errors in a lot of my datatypes, have to go back through my document and retype the datatype so that it reimports the class. What could be causing this? I know flash builder can be a bit buggy at times, but wasn't sure if someone else has had this problem and knows what might be causing it.

  • Mono 2.10.5 Runtime error on Ubuntu 11.10

    I've install mono-runtime via apt in order to run my Mono console application on Ubuntu via SSH. However, when I run the command mono myapp.exe, It exits, with no message, and my program does nothing. If I throw the -v switch to Mono, such as mono -v myapp.exe, I get about 10k lines of output (as expected, -v is verbose), with the first few lines being: converting method System.OutOfMemoryException:.ctor (string) Method System.OutOfMemoryException:.ctor (string) emitted at 0xb7052c28 to 0xb7052c4b (code length 35) [myapp.exe] converting method (wrapper runtime-invoke) <Module>:runtime_invoke_void__this___object (object,intptr,intptr,intptr) Method (wrapper runtime-invoke) <Module>:runtime_invoke_void__this___object (object,intptr,intptr,intptr) emitted at 0xb7052c68 to 0xb7052cf6 (code length 142) [myapp.exe] converting method System.SystemException:.ctor (string) I read this as the runtime throwing an OutOfMemory exception, but the machine is under no intense load, has plenty of available RAM, and is running nothing other that system processes. I've removed and reinstalled Mono countless times, and have even run the executable on other machines perfectly fine. Am I missing something completely obvious here?

  • GetBytes Issue in Loading External Flash

    I'm trying to debug a gallery section within a site of mine. Currently the section display a number of thumbnails which visitor select one to view. Once selected, the main flash loads in an external swf. To make the process smoother, I have a preloader for this process using normal getbytes codes. However for some reasons, the flash works fine in IE but not in Firefox or Chrome. In these browsers, as soon as you click the thumbnail, the preloader animated away to reveal the holder of the external swf. However as it is still loading, the holder is a blank area. Would appreciate if anyone can shed some light on why this is so.

  • crontab won't work on mac 10.6.7

    i create a simple cron job by editing /etc/crontab as following: */2 * * * * * php /Users/min/Documents/testcron.php and the testcron.php is simple as: <?php $fd = fopen("/Users/min/Documents/testcron.txt", 'a'); fwrite($fd, "test--cron--\n"); fclose($fd); ?> then simply save the crontab file and hope magic happen, but nothing happened. i even run the command manually and it worked. php /Users/min/Documents/testcron.php anyone have any idea? However, my email address also ends up in the 'from' column.The 'reply-from' address is nowhere to be found;so I don't have any address with which I can send my reply, as both of them have just my email address. What am I doing wrong here? Is there some set-up in my TOOLOPTIONS set-up incorrectly? The set-up in OPTIONS is pretty difficult to understand and it doesn't offer any 'to' or 'reply-from' choices.   • AS3 / Java - Socket Connection from live Flash to local java

    Hey guys, I'm trying to get a live flash that lives on a webserver to talk to a local java server, that will live on the clients PC. I'm trying to achieve this with a socket connection. (port 6000) Now, at first flash was able to connect, but it just sends <policy-file-request/>. After this nothing happens. Now, some people at Kirupa suggested to send an cross-domain-policy xml as soon as any connection is established from the java side. http://www.kirupa.com/forum/showthread.php?t=301625 However, my java server just throws the following: End Exception: java.net.SocketException: Software caused connection abort: recv failed I've already spend a great amount of time on this subject, and was wondering if anyone here knows what to do?

  • Lined Pattern in Flash Background

    So i have a flash site i am doing in as2, even if the solution can only be done in as3, I still want it. I am trying to accomplish lines through the background image like on this site http://larc-paris.com/#/fr/club I tried just putting the patten on the image itself, but when i scale my site, its all distorted and the lines does not look as crisp anymore, like theirs do, so I am assuming they did the lines themself in flash... any clue? I have the image just need the lines, dont need a slideshow.

  • How to grab all cookies in Flash

    For a site I'm developing with a user login that uses cookies to store the session ID, a separate section of it uses Flash to provide content and such. Is there some way it can access the cookies that were set the by login? The name of the cookie will not the be same every time, as it is randomly generated, as well as its value. I then need to send the name and value of the cookie back to a page on the server to do additional stuff. Anyone know how to do this? Note that I didn't write the Flash interface, an the person who did doesn't know how to do this. Please help me, and thanks in advance!

  • WordPress website getting hung up for 10-15 seconds

    Problem I have a website (which loads fine): http://testupg.videve.com/ Go to the blog section (and it begins to load, gets hung up, then loads): http://testupg.videve.com/blog/ It's all one WordPress install. The only pages that are getting hung up are the blog page itself and any article page. The video pages load fine etc. What Have I done and noticed. If I disable all plugins, the blog page loads fine. I narrowed it down to DisplayBuddy plugins (Featured posts, Carousel, Slider)...as soon as I enable any single one of them, the site loads slow. The thing that doesn't make sense is, I disabled the sidebar (deleted it from the template) and the article page still loaded slow and it has ZERO instances of this plugin. I disable the plugin and the article page loads fine. How on earth can this be? I am hoping this case above can give just a little bit of insight! One other thing. The video pages use a custom taxonomy so I am wondering if its something to do with the default wordpress taxonomy. Any help is GREATLY appreciated, I have been at this thing for hours and it's time to call in some support. Cheers

  • Custom cell in list in Flash AS3

    I am no expert in Flash, and I need some quick help here, without needing to learn everything from scratch. Short story, I have to make a list where each cell contains an image, two labels, and a button. List/Cell example: img - label - label - button img - label - label - button As a Java-programmer, I have tried to quicly learn the syntax and visualness of Flash and AS3, but with no luck so far. I have fairly understood the basics of movie clips etc. I saw a tutorial on how to add a list, and add some text to it. So I dragged in a list, and in the code went list.addItem({label:"hello"}); , and that worked ofc. So i thought if I double-clicked the MC of the list, i would get to tweak some things. In there I have been wandering around different halls of cell-renderers etc. I have now come to the point that I entered the CellRenderer_skinUp or something, and customized it to my liking. When this was done, I expected i could use list.addItem(); and get an empty "version" of my cell, with the img, labels and the button. But AS3 expects an input in addItem. From my object-oriented view, I am thinking that i have to create an object of the cell i have made, but i have no luck reaching it.. I tried to go var test:CellRenderer = list.listItem; list.addItem(test); ..But with no luck. This is just for funsies, but I really want to make this work, however not so much that I am willing to read up on ALOT of Flash and AS3. I felt that I was closing in on the prize, but the compiler expected a semicolon after the variable (list.addItem({test:something});). Note: If possible, I do NOT want this: list.addItem({image:"src",label:"text",label"text",button:"text"}); Well.. It actually is what I want, but I would really like to custom-draw everything. Does anyone get what I am trying to do, and has any answers for me? Am I approaching this the wrong way? I have searched the interwebs for custom list-cells, but with no luck.   • Drupal 7 configuration error with Postgresql in Mac OS 10.6.5

    I am trying to configure Drupal 7 with Postgres. At the database setup step, I get the following error. Warning: PDO::_construct(): [2002] No such file or directory (trying to connect via unix:///var/mysql/mysql.sock) in DatabaseConnection-_construct() (line 300 of /Users/shamod/Sites/drupal/7/includes/database/database.inc). In order for Drupal to work, and to continue with the installation process, you must resolve all issues reported below. For more help with configuring your database server, see the installation handbook. If you are unsure what any of this means you should probably contact your hosting provider. Failed to connect to your database server. The server reports the following message: SQLSTATE[HY000] [2002] No such file or directory. Is the database server running? Does the database exist, and have you entered the correct database name? Have you entered the correct username and password? Have you entered the correct database hostname? NOTE: I am trying to connect to Postgresql but it fails on var/mysql/mysql.sock error. I have setup the database connection string in settings.php for Postgresql. It still does not work. Any idea?
