Failing that, is this possible using Sockets in Java to do this and has anyone seen an example around the web? cheers guys.

  • Citrix client slow to launch

    Was wondering if anyone else experience Citrix client to launch very slowly. While I'm a Windows SA by trade, I consider myself Novice+ on Linux, but I doubt thats the problem. This is the simple scenario: 1. Login to Citrix server to work from home 2. Click on the published application; this typically starts the local Citrix client. 3. Citrix client should start and you're off. Problem is between #2 and #3 I click on the application and 8 out of 9 times there is a 60 second delay and then I get an SSL connection error. I suspect this error is misleading since the connection took too long to open. But I dont know how to prove it (or fix it). I'm able to successfully manually launch wfcmgr without errors; so this leads me to believe Citrix client is installed correctly. I even leave it running thinking this may help, but I don't see a difference with or without this running first. The only times I'm able to connect successfully is when the Citrix client starts up a few seconds after clicking on the application. I've searched online for articles that might help, but tried a number of fixes without much difference. Even tried "ln -sf /dev/urandom /dev/random" as suggested by this article, but no dice:http://forums.citrix.com/message.jspa?messageID=1381276 My System (specs that may be relevant) Sony VAIO Laptop VGN-NW270F Linux Mint 11.04 Problem using: FireFox and Chrome Any help would be appreciated. Just trying to either find an answer or guidance on how to determine why its taking so long to launch the Citrix Client. Thanks

  • What happens to Google contacts in the People app in Windows 8

    In the People tile in Windows 8, you can connect to your different accounts, e.g. LinkedIn, Facebook, Google contacts. I have a lot of contact information in Google Contacts that I have carefully curated. I also have Facebook and LinkedIn contacts. I have already connected Facebook and LinkedIn contacts to the People app, and it seems to work ok. If I connect my Google Contacts to the People app too, what exactly will happen to the Google contacts? Will my Google contacts be modified in any way by the People app? Merged? Synced? (I understand that they will look merged in the People app, but I am wondering what will happen to the actual Google contacts, which I often use outside the People app) For instance: If a contact is in Facebook but is missing from Google Contacts, will it be created in Google contacts? If there is a picture for a person in both Facebook and Google Contacts, will the Google Contacts picture be overwritten? If I add a field, such as "Comments" to a contact in the People app, will that comment be written to the comment field for that contact in Google Contacts?

If it carries on I think I'll be forced to shell out the 120 EUR for the NCP Client instead.

  • Google Contacts/Calendars + Address Book + iCal: built-in sync (problems) or Exchange sync?

    (I've looked at a few other questions related to this, but I've only found old questions with people saying that they're having problems, or anticipating Snow Leopard fixing them; no recent updates.) I'm looking to sync my Google Contacts & Calendars, and Gmail, with my Mac & iPhone. The iPhone I have currently set up thus: IMAP for Mail Exchange (Google Sync) for Contacts & Calendars The Mac: Address Book: built-in sync iCal: CalDAV, configured as a Google account I haven't been syncing Gmail to Apple Mail, because I was having weird IMAP glitches every so often that just got to annoying. Will Exchange / Google Sync work for this at all? Any suggestions there? Here are the other problems I'm having. Address Book only syncs certain fields (for example, Birthdays don't sync at all). I believe this is a list of the information that's synced. Address Book's "Synchronize with Google" checkbox doesn't stay checked when I quit Address Book. I think iCal is working fine, for the most part. Any suggestions on how to improve this setup? Why doesn't Address Book / Google Contacts sync stay enabled? Could I use Exchange for it like I am on the iPhone? Will that sync all the fields, including Birthdays, etc.? Thanks in advance!

    Hello ! I have a host (Ubuntu Linux) with VirtualBox on which is installed client (Windows XP). I set bridge connection for them. Host has IP 192.168.0.102 and client 192.168.0.103. On client I've installed WAMP server and on host I can access it by simply call 192.168.0.103. When I connect on client to the Cisco VPN (need access to database over VPN) I cannot access that server from host. What should I do to make it work ?

  • Is it possible to use Google Docs Viewer to view files already in Google Docs?

    The title is a little confusing. I'll elaborate. As far as I can tell, the Google Docs Viewer tool accepts a link to a raw document file (e.g. .doc, .pdf, et. al.), and renders its contents in the browser. For example, this url to a pdf http://research.google.com/archive/bigtable-osdi06.pdf when passed to Viewer, returns this link: http://docs.google.com/viewer?url=http%3A%2F%2Fresearch.google.com%2Farchive%2Fbigtable-osdi06.pdf What I'm trying to achieve is, use the Viewer to view a document already hosted in Google Docs (i.e. no longer a raw document file). When passing a link to a Google Docs document to the Viewer, the result is not as expected. It renders the link's HTML source instead of the document's contents. The reason I want to do this is that I want to be able to use the "embed" feature of Viewer to view Google Docs documents. Does Google Docs have a "link to embeddable view" feature? P.S. Here is a sample snippet to an embedded document.   • Java Google App Engine inconsistent data lose after restarting dev server

    Hello everyone, I am using Java GAE. So far, i'm just scafolding my data objects and i'm seeing an interesting issue. The records that i am playing around with are getting updated properly as long as my dev server is running up. The second that the my dev server gets restarted, i lose all of my changes. That would be not alarming if i lost all of my records, but, there was a point of time where my data persisted through the server restart. I'm worried that i would lose production data if i launched without fixing this potential bugs? ANy idea on wher ei should look?

  • Google Drive Update keeps throwing an error when I try to save a thumbnail

    The Base64 string checks out fine. I was able to export it to another website and download it again as my image. When I try to do an update using the Drive Javascript api, it just keeps returning this error: Invalidvaluefor:Notavalidbase64bytestring I also true making the string URL safe. Per this page https://google-api-client-libraries.appspot.com/documentation/drive/v2/python/latest/drive_v2.files.html Am I doing something wrong here, the documentation says send Base64, the string is valid and, the string is intact throughout the process, but Google will not accept it? I am using the javascript api, I think there is maybe a bug sending the thumbnail using the javascript api.     I'm trying to get some code I was passed up and running. It appears to use the Hibernate framework. I've gotten past most of the errors tweaking the configuration, but this one has me dead stumped. It's trying to connect to two databases: gameapp and gamelog. Both exist.     I am creating a framework that exposes an API for developers to use: public interface MyAPI { public void doSomeStuff(); public int getWidgets(boolean hasRun); } All the developers should have to do is code their projects against these API methods. I also want them to be able to place different "drivers"/"API bindings" on the runtime classpath (the same way JDBC or SLF4J work) and have the API method calls (doSomeStuff(), etc.) operate on different 3rd party resources (files, servers, whatever). Thus the same code and API calls will map to operations on different resources depending on what driver/binding the runtime classpath sees (i.e. myapi-ftp, myapi-ssh, myapi-teleportation). How do I write (and package) an SPI that allows for such runtime binding, and then maps MyAPI calls to the correct (concrete) implementation? In other words, if myapi-ftp allows you to getWidgets(boolean) from an FTP server, how would I could this up (to make use of both the API and SPI)?   • Learning advanced java skills

    I've been programming in java for a while and I really like the language, I've mostly just done game programming, but I want to get a feel for some of the more commonly used api's and frameworks and just get a generally more well-rounded grasp of the language and the common libraries in the current job market. From what I found things like spring, hibernate, and GWT are pretty in demand right now. I looked at some tutorials online and they weren't hard to follow but I really felt like I had no context for what I was learning - I had no idea how any of it would be use in a real work environment. I know nothing can rival the benefit I'd get from actual work experience but that's not an option for me right now, I need another way to learn these technologies in a way where I'll at least feel comfortable working with them and know what I'm doing beyond just understanding what code does what. I checked out a few books but they were all really old(like pre-2006, am I right to assume those books would be kind of out of date today?) or required experience with libraries that I didn't have and can't get. I hate getting stuck looking for the best resource to learn something instead of spending my time actually learning. All I really want is someone to point me to a resource(website or ebook) that is aimed at already experienced java developers and will not only teach me some interesting useful java technology(anything that is useful, I dont know much outside of graphics libraries and game related things so I was thinking some database or web programming api's) but also give me a good perspective of it and leave me feeling confident that I could actually use what I learned on a practical application. If my post makes you think I'm not yet experienced to be learning these things, which I doubted earlier today but am now starting to question, then what do you think is the next step for me?   • Switching from Java/Java EE career path to C POS path?

    I am a Java/Java EE Developer with about 3 years in this field. I like low-level programming so much... I favor back-end code over front-end. I've a knowledge in C and know little about C++. I got an offer to work with C in Point-of-Sale Payment terminals. I don't know much about how POS works (IDE/toolsets, etc). although I have a payment experience (ISO8583, etc...) I need you own opinion from Switching from the Java's High-level world to POS low-level world Although I love low-level world, but I am afraid from not being found what I seek.. I know programmers are not measured by the tools they use (including prog. langs.) but with their minds. I need your opinions of: Is programming POS terminals in C is an interesting thing, or I'll find myself doing usual code-writing job? (especially I am about to switch my whole career path). I find myself writing an elegant code in Java (like: Sobat http://code.google.com/p/sobat/) a code where I find myself in... So do I'll find the same thing in POS C? or It will all about Libraries that I'll call to finish my work?! Lastly, does this thing worse adventure with my current career (stability, conference, etc.. )? (as I currently don't think to move to a new job) Thanks.

  • Difference between sh file.sh and file.sh

    I have two questions : What is the difference between executing sh filename.sh and filename.sh? How can I make both of them giving me the same output ? I'm asking this question as right now I'm facing a problem. I'm trying to run a Java + SWT application from terminal. When I do filename.sh, it gives me the desired output. But when I do sh filename.sh or bash filename.sh, it throws me an error : Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: MainForm/java Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: MainForm.java at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(URLClassLoader.java:202) at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method) at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass(URLClassLoader.java:190) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:306) at sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader.loadClass(Launcher.java:301) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:247) Could not find the main class: MainForm.java. Program will exit. I know this question is already asked here but I'm still not clear about it. I have gone through the following links : What is the difference between ./ and sh to run a script? Can scripts run even when they are not set as executable? Can anyone help me with this?

    Vikram Goyal's informative and practical article, "Working with Lightweight User Interface Toolkit (LWUIT) 1.4," shows developers how to best take advantage of LWUIT 1.4. LWUIT is a user interface library designed to bring uniformity and cross mobile interface functionality to applications developed using Java Platform, Micro Edition (Java ME). Version 1.4 offers support for XHTML, multi-line text fields, and customization to the virtual keyboard.Goyal notes in the article that, "Perhaps the most important feature of this release is the ability for LWUIT to support XHTML. Specifically, it now supports XHTML MP (Mobile Platform) 1.0, a version of XHTML designed for mobile phones.
