  • Super slow and laggy?

    I'm a native Windows user, running 7 Home Premium atm. In the past I installed Ubuntu 10 on my netbook I believe, but was a bit 'scared' by it. Anyways, I made a partition on my desktop pc, 100gb and installed Ubuntu 12.10 on it. It was pretty slow first thought it had to install updates or something, so I rebooted it. Now after the login it looks like everything freezes, I can move my mouse only ,but that's it! I can see my desktop and launcher, but the task bar doesn't display time and misc system info, only a black bar, I downloaded the android SDK pack and installed vlc media player before I rebooted. My computer info: - 1tb HDD - 8gb ddr3 ram - ATI Radeon 4890 videocard (1gb) - AMD Phenom 2 x4 black 3,2ghz CPU(64 bits) Thanks in advantage!

    I just installed Ubuntu on my Compaq desktop and everything seemed to go well. The desktop appeared just like it should... Only then this happens, seconds later: Crash Something tells me that this is not supposed to be happening. I did not partition, I replaced Windows 7 with Ubuntu. When I try to run off the USB stick I used, I get this: USB So, what do I do, now? Should I try to reinstall? Is the ISO bad, somehow? Please note that when I test the zVersion2wsSQL webservice independently (from INETMGR right-mouse and click Browse) it works as expected (i.e. presenting all the methods of the webservice) like this snippet: GetMessageByType MessageName="Get_x0020_Message_x0020_By_x0020_Type" I can test this webmethod by clicking on it and it presents the Test dialog (because it takes a simple datatype and I am invoking it on localhost (i.e. MOJITO): **Get Message By Type** **Test** To test the operation using the HTTP POST protocol, click the 'Invoke' button. Parameter Value iMsgType: _______ [INVOKE button] SOAP 1.1 ....etc. I fear I may have rambled with too much information so I will stop but I hope someone can help me as I cannot understand why this request results in a "not found".     I'm familiar with using a function to determine a specific condition using xtemplate but not sure how to directly call a function without the conditional if statement. My code, for example, wants to append some characters to a string that I am using within my xtemplate.     I have a windows service which exposes an endpoint over http. Again this is a windows service (not a web service hosted in iis). I then call methods from this endpoint, using javascript/ajax. Now, the problem is my javascript/ajax call cannot communicate with the service over https. I simply get some generic commication error (12031). So, as a test, I changed the port I was calling in the javascript to some other random port, and I get the same error - which tells me that I'm obviously not even reaching my service over https. I'm at a complete loss at this point, I feel like everything is in place, and I just can't see what the problem is.     Hi, We have a .NET client calling a Java webservice using SSL. Sometimes the call fails due to poor connectivity (the .NET Client is a UI that is used from the weirdest locations). We would like to implement an automatic retry mechanism that will automatically retry a failed call X times before giving up. This should be done solely with specific types of connectivity exceptions (and not for exceptions generated by the web service itself). We tried to find how to do it on the Binding/Channel level, but failed... any ideas? Thanks, yonadav

  • IE8 + Jquery ajax call giving parsererror : for json data which seems valid in Firefox

    The ajax call works fine in FF. the data returned is in JSON here is an example from FF firebug - {"noProfiles": "No profiles have been created, lets start now !"} When I try to print the error in IE8 (& in compatibility modes as well), it says "parsererror". But the output seems to be valid JSON. Here is the ajax function call I'm making.     Curious how one would go about calling a class method from inside an instance method of a module which is included by an active record class.     When using SqlCommand to call a stored proc via RPC, it looks like it is possible to call a stored proc in a database other than the current database. e.g. : string storedProcName = "SomeOtherDatabase.dbo.SomeStoredProc"; SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand(storedProcName); cmd.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure; I'd like to make my DAL code more restrictive, by disallowing potential calls to another database. One way might be to check if there are two periods (dots) in storedProcName above, and if so, throw an exception. Any other ideas/approaches ? Thanks.

  • Core Data iPhone how often should I call [managedObjectContext save:&error] when doing 50k record in

    I will be doing an occiasional import from XML into core data. I have around 50k entities that will be added. My question is how often should I call [managedObjectContext save:&error]. For every new entity added, or every x entities, or just at the end of the 50k import? I currently am calling it for each entity and tried only doing it for around every 10k and import speed went up drastically but after the first 30k it would crash with: *** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSGenericException', reason: '*** Collection <NSCFSet: 0x13e760> was mutated while being enumerated.' Before I spend too much time trying to diagnose what is going on there I figured I'd check if its ok to not call save on every entity? Is the # of entities before calling save limited by the amount of memory those entities are using?

    Hi, I'm using ASP.NET on C# and I have a referanced library in the same solution in VB which calls a COM object using CreateObject. When I run the site on my comp it works, when I run it on my IIS 6 it gives me a stackoverflow on the method call. Now I have a script wich runs the VB code on the IIS6 and it works just fine. It must be something with the ASP... How can I call Com objects within ASP..., Do I have to do something special? Pls help.

    If I browse to a flex application when recording with VS Test, I can see the calls to WebORB (amf calls). However, when stopping the recording this is what happens: First, Visual Studio detects dynamic parameters, but stays around 20%, and never gets through it. Second, if I cancel the detecting dynamic parameters, and run the web test, the calls to WebORB (amf calls) do not work. In fact, in VS2010, the call to WebORB stays on Submitting... Now, this web test, does it only record url's and query string variables, or does it record the whole request? If it records the whole request, the call to WebORB should work, but it doesn't.

  • Generating a Call Hierarchy for dynamicly invoked method

    Hello, Today's world of dynamic invoke, reflection and runtime injection just doesn't play well with traditional tools such as ctags, doxygen and CDOC. I am searching for a method call hierarchy visualization tool that can display both static and dynamic method invocations. It should be easy to use, light during execution and provide helpful detailed information about the recorded runtime session. Now I guess Callgrind could be considered a valid solution for the family C. What tool / technique could you suggest to create a call graph for both static and dynamic method invocation for JVM based bytecode? The intended end result is a graphical display (preferably interactive) which can show path from main() to each method that was invoked. During research for this post I stumbled upon javashot, it seems that this is the kind of approach I'm aiming at, I would prefer that this would be integrated into a kind of profiler or alike which than can be used from within my IDE (Eclipse, IntelliJ, Netbeans and alike).   • Retry web service call if authentication failure requires re-login

    I'm consuming a web service from C#, and the web service requires a login call and then uses cookie sessions. The web service will time out sessions after a certain timeframe, after which the client will have to re-login. I'd like to find a way to automatically catch the soap fault the service sends back in this scenario, and handle it by re-logging in and then retrying the previously attempted call. I would prefer to do this somehow automatically for all the web service methods in question, rather than having to manually wrap the calls with the retry logic. Suggestions?

  • ValidateCredentials() returns FALSE on First Call but TRUE on Subsequent Calls

    I'm using the following code to authenticate users on my web service: using (PrincipalContext context = new PrincipalContext(ContextType.Domain, domain)) { return context.ValidateCredentials(userName, password); } The obstacle I'm running into is that the first call to ValidateCredentials() is returning false but subsequent calls return true. I placed a breakpoint at this line and in the Intermediate window I see the same results: first call returns false, second returns true, even though nothing was changed (by me) between calls. The 'domain' is String.Empty but I've also tried it with the actual domain name and get the same results. I'm not that versed in network administration so any help would be appreciated,

  • RPX API Call auth_info is returning "missing parameter" error

    I cannot get the RPX auth_info API call to work. It keeps returning the error: "Missing parameter: apiKey" I am using the C# RPX Helper Class provided on their Wiki:RPX Helper Class Below is my code in my Page_Load method. The RPX service works by sending a POST to a Url that I specify. My code gets the token from the post data shown below. Then I call the AuthInfo API method. string token = Request.Params["token"]; string apiKey = "xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx"; //my API key Rpx rpx = new Rpx(apiKey, "http://rpxnow.com"); XmlElement xmlElement = rpx.AuthInfo(token); Everything looks good. The token is populated. Within their code, the "apiKey" value pair is added to the post data written to the Request stream. Has anyone had luck with this? Any ideas why this is not working? Thanks.

    Hello everybody, I'm trying to benchmark the difference between a function pointer call and a virtual function call. To do this, I have written two pieces of code, that do the same mathematical computation over an array. One variant uses an array of pointers to functions and calls those in a loop. The other variant uses an array of pointers to a base class and calls its virtual function, which is overloaded in the derived classes to do absolutely the same thing as the functions in the first variant. Then I print the time elapsed and use a simple shell script to run the benchmark many times and compute the average run time. I'm asking this because I'm doing a project which involves calling a lot of small functions in a row like this in order to compute the values of an array, and the code I've inherited does a very complex manipulation to avoid the virtual function call overhead. Now where is this famous call overhead?

  • C# .NET MVC Call an action from another controller

    I have two different objects: contracts, and task orders. My requirements specify that in order to view the Details for either object, the Url should be "http://.../Contract/Details" or "http://.../TaskOrder/Details" depending on which type. They are both very similar and the details pages are almost identical, so I made a class that can either be a contract or a task order, and has a variable "objectTypeID" that says which type it is. I wrote the action "Details" in the task order controller, but now I want to call that from the contract controller instead of recopying the code. So is there any way to have the url still say ".../Contract/Details" but call the action in the TaskOrder controller instead? I tried using TaskOrderController TOController = new TaskOrderController(); TOController.Details(id); This would have worked except that I can't use the HttpContext.Session anymore, which I used several times in the action.

    I've searched but couldn't find any results (my terminology may be off) so forgive me if this has been asked before. I was wondering if there is an easy way to call a void* as a function in C without first declaring a function pointer and then assigning the function pointer the address; ie. assuming the function to be called is type void(void) void *ptr; ptr = <some address>; ((void*())ptr)(); /* call ptr as function here */ with the above code, I get error C2066: cast to function type is illegal in VC2008 If this is possible, how would the syntax differ for functions with return types and multiple parameters?
