• sharepoint 3.0 : access is denied after install

  I just finished install sharepoint 3.0 on a w2k3 enterprise server. It says installation successfully completed. Then when i attempt to go to 'Sharepoint Products and Technologies configuration wizard, i receive the following error: Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. • Dual head setup for Ubuntu 10.04.1 and Windows XP Pro with same hardware configuration

  I have a Dell OptiPlex 360 workstation at work, with 2 x ATI RV280 [Radeon 9200 PRO] graphics cards installed, which are attached to two identical 19" HII flat panel monitors. I'm using the open source Radeon driver with Ubuntu, and the proprietary drivers with Windows. The good news is that dual head configuration works for both OSes. The bad news is, I have to use a different hardware configuration for each OS to achieve this. Hardware config #1: Dual monitors work for Windows XP Pro like this: First display -> external VGA port Second display -> DVI input on gfx card Hardware config #2: Dual monitors work for Ubuntu 10.04.1 like this: First display -> VGA port on gfx card Second display -> DVI input on gfx card I connected up the displays according to Config #2 and booted up Windows, which resulted in a mirror image on both screens. I was unable to login, as the login box was not visible. I unplugged the VGA lead from gfx card and plugged it into the external VGA port (Config #1) - Windows dual head works again, but the VGA-connected screen is not recognised by Ubuntu and remains in standby mode. Is it possible to configure a dual head setup for Ubuntu using Config #1, or am I missing something? I tried setting up dual monitors using Config #1, this morning which didn't work. • Inaccurate performance counter timer values in Windows Performance Monitor

  I am implementing instrumentation within an application and have encountered an issue where the value that is displayed in Windows Performance Monitor from a PerformanceCounter is incongruent with the value that is recorded. I am using a Stopwatch to record the duration of a method execution, then first i record the total milliseconds as a double, and secondly i pass the Stopwatch's TimeSpan.Ticks to the PerformanceCounter to be recorded in the Performance Monitor. Creating the Performance Counters in perfmon: var datas = new CounterCreationDataCollection(); datas.Add(new CounterCreationData { CounterName = name, CounterType = PerformanceCounterType.AverageTimer32 }); datas.Add(new CounterCreationData { CounterName = namebase, CounterType = PerformanceCounterType.AverageBase }); PerformanceCounterCategory.Create("Category", "performance data", PerformanceCounterCategoryType.SingleInstance, datas); Then to record i retrieve a pre-initialized counter from a collection and increment: _counters[counter].IncrementBy(timing); _counters[counterbase].Increment(); ...where "timing" is the Stopwatch's TimeSpan.Ticks value. When this runs, the collection of double's, which are the milliseconds values for the Stopwatch's TimeSpan show one set of values, but what appears in PerfMon are a different set of values. For example... two values recorded in the List of milliseconds are: 23322.675, 14230.614 And what appears in PerfMon graph are: 15.546, 9.930 Can someone explain this please?

• Monitor file selection in explorer (like clipboard monitoring) in C#

  Hi, I am trying to create a little helper application, one scenario is "file duplication finder". What I want to do is this: I start my C# .NET app, it gives me an empty list. Start the normal windows explorer, select a file in some folder The C# app tells me stuff about this file (e.g. duplicates) How can I monitor the currently selected file in the "normal" windows explorer instance. Do I have to start the instance using .NET to have a handle of the process. Do I need a handle, or is there some "global hook" I can monitor inside C#. Its a little bit like monitoring the clipboard, but not exactly the same... • Monitor web sites visited using Internet Explorer, Opera, Chrome, Firefox and Safari in Python

  I am working on a project for work and have seemed to run into a small problem. The project is a similar program to Web Nanny, but branded to my client's company. It will have features such as website blocking by URL, keyword and web activity logs. I would also need it to be able to "pause" downloads until an acceptable username and password is entered. I found a script to monitor the URL visited in Internet Explorer (shown below), but it seems to slow the browser down considerably. I have not found any support or ideas onhow to implement this in other browsers. So, my questions are: 1). How to I monitor other browser activity / visited URLs? 2). • dpkg unsatisfied dependencies, now apt-get wants to remove whole system

  firstly, I'm sorry for my terminal output in portuguese, but I guess it is still understandable. I am using Ubuntu GNOME 14.04 and I tried to update the GNOME Online Accounts packages by downloading the following .deb files from packages.ubuntu.com for the Ubuntu 14.10 version: libgoa-backend-1.0-dev_3.12.4-1_amd64.deb libgoa-backend-1.0-1_3.12.4-1_amd64.deb libgoa-1.0-dev_3.12.4-1_amd64.deb libgoa-1.0-0b_3.12.4-1_amd64.deb gnome-online-accounts_3.12.4-1_amd64.deb gir1.2-goa-1.0_3.12.4-1_amd64.deb After downloading them in the same folder, I run the command sudo dpkg -i *.deb, but it didn't install the packages, instead it showed errors due to packages which them depend doesn't meet the required version (and Ubuntu have no way to install them since they are not in this version's repositories). So now every time I want to install anything through apt-get, Ubuntu tells me to run apt-get -f install to fix the errors. So, essentially this task has burned 1 hour per day Sprint Burn Down Chart – What’s not possible? The Sprint burn down chart is calculated from the System.AuthorizedDate and not the System.ChangedDate/System.CreatedDate. So, though you can change the System.ChangedDate and System.CreatedDate to historic dates you will not be able to synthesize the sprint burn down chart. Image 1 – By changing the Created Date and Changed Date to ‘18/Oct/2012’ you would have expected the burn down to have been impacted, but it won’t be, because the sprint burn down chart uses the value of field ‘System.AuthorizedDate’ to calculate the unfinished work points. The AsOf queries that are used to calculate the unfinished work points use the value of the field ‘System.AuthorizedDate’. Image 2 – Using the above code I burned down 1 hour effort per day over 5 days from the task work item, I would have expected the sprint burn down to show a constant burn down, instead the burn down shows the effort exhausted on the 24th itself. Simply because the burn down is calculated using the ‘System.AuthorizedDate’. Now you would ask… “Can I change the value of the field System.AuthorizedDate to a historic date” Unfortunately that’s not possible! You will run into the exception ValidationException –  “TF26194: The value for field ‘Authorized Date’ cannot be changed.” Conclusion - You need to be a member of the Project Collection Service account group in order to set the fields ‘System.ChangedDate’ and ‘System.CreatedDate’ to historic dates - You need to instantiate the WorkItemStore using the flag ByPassValidation - The System.ChangedDate needs to be set to a historic date at the time of work item creation. You cannot reset the ChangedDate to a date earlier than the existing ChangedDate and you cannot reset the ChangedDate to a date greater than the current date time. - The System.CreatedDate can only be reset after a work item has been created. You cannot set the CreatedDate at the time of work item creation. The CreatedDate cannot be greater than the current date. You can however reset the CreatedDate to a date earlier than the existing value. - You will not be able to synthesize the Sprint burn down chart by changing the value of System.ChangedDate and System.CreatedDate to historic dates, since the burn down chart uses AsOf queries to calculate the unfinished work points which internally uses the System.AuthorizedDate and NOT the System.ChangedDate & System.CreatedDate - System.AuthorizedDate cannot be set to a historic date using the TFS API Read other posts on using the TFS API here… Enjoy!

I want to put the queue processing thread to sleep when its finished processing the queue I want to have the 2nd thread tell it to wake up when it has added an item to the queue However these functions call System.Threading.SynchronizationLockException: Object synchronization method was called from an unsynchronized block of code on the Monitor.PulseAll(waiting); call, because I havent syncronized the function with the waiting object. • "No more threads can be created in the system" in Network and Sharing Center

  A while back I noticed on one of our laboratory computers (Windows 7, very little extra software installed) that the network connection icon in the system tray would claim that it had no network connection, even though it did. This issue would go away after the computer was rebooted, but would surface again the next time I looked at the computer (a few days later). Upon opening the Network and Sharing Center I am shown an actual error message, but not one that seems to give me a lot of information about what the problem is. In the place of the usual information about network adapters and whether you are connected to the Internet it simply says: "No more threads can be created in the system." The Event Viewer shows hundreds of events from different services also with the same message. "Volume Shadow Copy Service error: Unexpected error calling routine CoCreateInstance. hr = 0x800700a4, No more threads can be created in the system."; "The WinHTTP Web Proxy Auto-Discovery Service service failed to start due to the following error: A thread could not be created for the service."; "The IP Helper service terminated with the following error: No more threads can be created in the system." As far as I can tell, this message seems to mean that there is some sort of resource leak in Windows where something is creating a large number of threads and those threads are not being killed off? I've tried restarting WMI and several services related to networking, without avail. Can anyone provide more information on what "No more threads can be created in the system" might mean and what I might be able to do to fix the issue? Currently the only solution appears to be restarting.

Navigated to C:\Windows\System32\ right clicked odbcad32.exe Run as Administrator Notes: I am an Administrator on this machine. The 32-bit version runs fine if I open C:\Windows\SysWoW64\odbcad32.exe However, I need the data source to be 64-bit. I am not experiencing this problem on any of my other 64-bit machines. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Additionally I would like to see which process (CGI.exe, php script etc) they are connected to or minimally what the GET/POST request was. • Accidently overwrote system.dbf - What now?

  I accidentally overwrote system.dbf in /usr/lib/oracle/xe/oradata/XE/system.dbf Well I did not actually do it accidentally, however I overwrote it because of other failures in the database. And when I try running the following: SQL> shutdown ORA-01109: database not open Database dismounted. ORACLE instance shut down. SQL> startup ORACLE instance started. Total System Global Area 289406976 bytes Fixed Size 1258488 bytes Variable Size 92277768 bytes Database Buffers 192937984 bytes Redo Buffers 2932736 bytes Database mounted. ORA-01589: must use RESETLOGS or NORESETLOGS option for database open Now I want to try to Recover the database because starting it in mounted or standard surely doesn't work. SQL> recover database using backup controlfile; ORA-00283: recovery session canceled due to errors ORA-01110: data file 1: '/usr/lib/oracle/xe/oradata/XE/system.dbf' ORA-01122: database file 1 failed verification check ORA-01110: data file 1: '/usr/lib/oracle/xe/oradata/XE/system.dbf' ORA-01206: file is not part of this database - wrong database id How do I solve this? Is it even possible? My "real" problem was that I ran the /etc/init.d/oracle-xe configure and it overwrote my old configuration and probably removed passwords and such so my tables were gone, however I found the mytablespace.dbf so I hope that it is possible to recover? Please shed some light on this.

• DFS replication and the SYSTEM user (NTFS permissions)

  Question for which I'm having trouble finding an answer on Google or Technet... Does granting the SYSTEM user permissions to DFS-shared files and folders have any effect on DFS replication? (And while we're at it, is there any good reason not to let SYSTEM have permissions to DFS-shared files?) It comes up because I have a collection of DFS namespaces and folders that I'm not able to make someone else's problem, and while troubleshooting a problem where one DFS replica just wasn't replicating with another for no discernible reason, I observed that the SYSTEM didn't have any permissions granted to any of the files or folders in the folder in question. So I set SYSTEM to have full control and propagated it down, and our DFS health diagnostic reports went from showing a backlog of ~80 files to a backlog of ~100,000... and things started replicating, including a number of files that had been missing on one server or the other (so more than just the permissions changes started replicating). Naturally, this made me curious as to whether or not DFS needs the SYSTEM account to have permissions to do its work, or if perhaps it was just any change to folder tree in question that prompted DFS to jump into action. If it matters, our DFS namespaces were set up under 2000/2003, and I have just recently finished upgrading all the servers to 2008 R2 or 2012 (with UAC enabled, blech), but have not yet gotten around to raising the DFS namespace functional levels to Server 2008. (And bonus points if anyone has an official Microsoft article on NTFS file permissions and the SYSTEM account as it pertains to DFS or network files.)
