  • String split array

    - by mac
    Intention is to take a current line which contains commas, store trimmed values of all space and store the line into the array. Why does this not work? String[] currentLineArray = currentInputLine.replace("\\s", "").split(",");

  • How can I use BeanUtils copyProperties to copy from boolean to Boolean?

    - by carrier
    BeanUtils copyProperties, out of the box, doesn't seem to handle copying from Boolean object properties to boolean primitive properties. I figured I could create and register a converter to handle this, but that just didn't seem to work. So, how can I use BeanUtils to copy the properties from class Source to class Destination where: public class Destination { private boolean property; public boolean isProperty() { return property; } public void setProperty(boolean property) { this.property = property; } } public class Source{ private Boolean property; public Boolean getProperty() { return property; } public void setProperty(Boolean property) { this.property = property; } }

  • Return type value if RunTimeException has been thrown and not catched.

    - by Alfred
    I am using Gson to parse Json. What I don't understand what the return type will be if you don't catch the Runtime Exception. I was expecting it to be null, but it is not null when evaluating with a simple if statement. My code looks something like this: public X x() { return gson.fromJson(jsonString, X.class); } then from another function I call the function: public void y() { final X x = x(); if (x == null) { System.out.println("x == null") } } I was expecting x to be null, but it isn't because the print statement is not called? What is the value of x? How can if them. I have my problem by using a catch block in the x() function and returning null. But I am just wondering what the value of function x() is(if any?)? Hopefully I make any sense at all.

  • Meaning of the "Unloading class" messages

    - by elec
    Anyone can explain why the lines below appear in the output console at runtime ? (one possible answer would be full permGen, but this can be ruled out since the program only uses 24MB out of the max100MB available in PermGen) [Unloading class sun.reflect.GeneratedSerializationConstructorAccessor28] [Unloading class sun.reflect.GeneratedSerializationConstructorAccessor14] [Unloading class sun.reflect.GeneratedSerializationConstructorAccessor4] [Unloading class sun.reflect.GeneratedMethodAccessor5] [Unloading class sun.reflect.GeneratedSerializationConstructorAccessor38] [Unloading class sun.reflect.GeneratedSerializationConstructorAccessor36] [Unloading class sun.reflect.GeneratedSerializationConstructorAccessor22] [Unloading class sun.reflect.GeneratedSerializationConstructorAccessor8] [Unloading class sun.reflect.GeneratedSerializationConstructorAccessor39] [Unloading class sun.reflect.GeneratedSerializationConstructorAccessor16] [Unloading class sun.reflect.GeneratedSerializationConstructorAccessor2] [Unloading class sun.reflect.GeneratedConstructorAccessor1] The program runs with the following params: -Xmx160M -XX:MaxPermSize=96M -XX:PermSize=96M -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC -XX:+UseParNewGC -XX:+PrintGCTaskTimeStamps -XX:+PrintHeapAtGC -XX:+PrintTenuringDistribution -XX:+PrintGCDetails -XX:+PrintGCDateStamps -XX:+PrintGCTimeStamps -verbose:gc -Xloggc:/logs/gc.log There's plenty of space in the heap and in permGen.

  • Defining tokens at runtime

    - by Peter Crenshaw
    I want to write a parser for EDIFACT messages with JavaCC. My problem is that I cannot define all terminal symbols before parsing a message because at the begining of each message there is a so called "Advice Segment" ("UNA" Segment) which defines things like element seperator symbol, escape symbol, segment terminator symbol and decimal notation (e.g. '.' or ','). So I think/guess the production rules need some kind of variables which must be set at runtime during parsing. Can this be done with JavaCC and if so how? Or is there another way I am missing?

  • Caching instances in a jee web app

    - by SibzTer
    Hi, Consider the scenario of a typical webapp with JSFs on the front and ejb3, with Hibernate as JPA provider, talking to backend database such as mysql, etc. The main user actions are login and mostly CRUD operations (minus any D(elete) operations). And the App Server is GlassFish of course. Given this scenario, how and where all would one go about providing caching to improve performance? From what I have googled, I have seen that hibernate provides some sort of caching through different cache providers. Is there any sort of caching that can be provided for the jsf pages? How about session beans or entity beans on the ejb side of things? Also, I just read about memcached and was wondering if this was something to consider?

  • How to specify a different column for a @Inheritance JPA annotation

    - by Cue
    @Entity @Inheritance(strategy = InheritanceType.JOINED) public class Foo @Entity @Inheritance(strategy = InheritanceType.JOINED) public class BarFoo extends Foo mysql> desc foo; +---------------+-------------+ | Field | Type | +---------------+-------------+ | id | int | +---------------+-------------+ mysql> desc barfoo; +---------------+-------------+ | Field | Type | +---------------+-------------+ | id | int | | foo_id | int | | bar_id | int | +---------------+-------------+ mysql> desc bar; +---------------+-------------+ | Field | Type | +---------------+-------------+ | id | int | +---------------+-------------+ Is it possible to specify column barfo.foo_id as the joined column? Are you allowed to specify barfoo.id as BarFoo's @Id since you are overriding the getter/seeter of class Foo? I understand the schematics behind this relationship (or at least I think I do) and I'm ok with them. The reason I want an explicit id field for BarFoo is exactly because I want to avoid using a joined key (foo _id, bar _id) when querying for BarFoo(s) or when used in a "stronger" constraint. (as Ruben put it)

  • Transactions in hibernate

    - by kumar1425
    Hi I new to hibernate In my project, i need to handle transactions. How to handle declarative transactions with in two classes Examples: //class 1 class A{ createA() { insert(A); } } //class 2 class B { createB() { insert(B); } } //class 3 @Transaction(Exception.class) class C { test() { create(A); create(B); } } As per the above code is there any possibility to handle transactions, in such a way that if the insert in classA success and the insert in the classB fails then the transaction should rollback and remove the record inserted in the table A corresponding to the Class A please help me with this using declarative transactions.... • validate constructor arguments or method parameters with annotations, and let them throw an exceptio

    - by marius
    I am validating constructor and method arguments, as I want to the software, especially the model part of it, to fail fast. As a result, constructor code often looks like this public MyModelClass(String arg1, String arg2, OtherModelClass otherModelInstance) { if(arg1 == null) { throw new IllegalArgumentsException("arg1 must not be null"); } // further validation of constraints... // actual constructor code... } Is there a way to do that with an annotation driven approach? Something like: public MyModelClass(@NotNull(raise=IllegalArgumentException.class, message="arg1 must not be null") String arg1, @NotNull(raise=IllegalArgumentException.class) String arg2, OtherModelClass otherModelInstance) { // actual constructor code... } In my eyes this would make the actual code a lot more readable. In understand that there are annotations in order to support IDE validation (like the existing @NotNull annotation). Thank you very much for your help.

  • Jakarta Regexp 1.5 Backreferences?

    - by Matt Smith
    Why does this match: String str = "099.9 102.2" + (char) 0x0D; RE re = new RE("^([0-9]{3}.[0-9]) ([0-9]{3}.[0-9])\r$"); System.out.println(re.match(str)); But this does not: String str = "099.9 102.2" + (char) 0x0D; RE re = new RE("^([0-9]{3}.[0-9]) \1\r$"); System.out.println(re.match(str)); The back references don't seem to be working... What am I missing?

  • Injecting EntityManager Vs. EntityManagerFactory

    - by SB
    A long question, please bear with me. We are using Spring+JPA for a web application. My team is debating over injecting EntityManagerFactory in the GenericDAO(a DAO based on Generics something on the lines provided by APPFUSE, we do not use JpaDaosupport for some reason) over injecting an EntityManager. We are using "application managed persistence". The arguments against injecting a EntityManagerFactory is that its too heavy and so is not required, the EntityManager does what we need. Also, as Spring would create a new instance of a DAO for every web request(I doubt this) there are not going to be any concurrency issues as in the same EntityManager instance is shared by two threads. The argument for injecting EFM is that its a good practice over all its always good to have a handle to a factory. I am not sure which is the best approach, can someone please enlighten me? SB

  • Anyone have a good solution for scraping the HTML source of a page with content (in this case, HTML

    - by phpwns
    Anyone have a good solution for scraping the HTML source of a page with content (in this case, HTML tables) generated with Javascript? An embarrassingly simple, though workable solution using Crowbar: <?php function get_html($url) // $url must be urlencode(d) { $context = stream_context_create(array( 'http' => array('timeout' => 120) // HTTP timeout in seconds )); $html = substr(file_get_contents('http://127.0.0.1:10000/?url=' . $url . '&delay=3000&view=browser', 0, $context), 730, -32); // substr removes HTML from the Crowbar web service, returning only the $url HTML return $html; } ?> The advantage to using Crowbar is that the tables will be rendered (and accessible) thanks to the headless mozilla-based browser. The problem, of course, is being dependent on on an external web service, especially given that SIMILE seems to undergo regular server maintenance. :( A pure php solution would be nice, but any functional (and reliable) alternatives would be great.
