  • iPhone application purchase verification -- possible?

    The iPhone 3.0 SDK's StoreKit.framework provides support for in-app purchases to give the user additional content, functionality and so on. It is possible for an app to send the transactionReceipt property of SKPaymentTransaction objects to the developer's server for verification of successful purchasing before granting service. Is there any analogous SDK to verify the initial application purchase itself? A developer that wishes for their server to only provide services to genuine applications (i.e. not pirated) without using IAP could do so by verifying the application in this manner, e.g. ensure that only users with the correct transactionReceipt are catered for. I understand that this approach would still be vulnerable to replay attacks; a dedicated group of pirates could share a valid transactionReceipt. However, my server provides a consumable service to users, i.e. once they've connected and done the work, it needn't work a second time so replay attacks are nullified. The service that my app provides is relatively niche. I could distribute it on the App Store as a free application that requires at least one IAP to do anything useful, but I am lead to believe that this would be a very unpopular move among users as it would be considered misleading. If I distribute it as a paid app, I do not know how to ensure that only genuine apps can access the webservice. This is important as every invocation of the webservice costs me money! What are my options?

    Looking for guidelines to create application file. For example I have an application that store user input into a file (Textbox, DataGrid, ListBox etc). I'm looking for WPF-C# implementation. I would like to have the following: If user edit a any form(Textbox, etc) an asterisk is displayed to the window title. When window is closed and asterisk is still there, a promote "Would you like to save changes" appears. If then saved the asterisk disappear. What do real applications use to create their application file? (Note: I'm not looking for database saving or SQL) I'm just looking for hints and guidelines. Thank you.

  • Subdomain is preventing my search results from rising as expected in page rank

    My problem is that I have a site which has requires a dedicated page for every city I choose to support. Early on, I decided to use subdomains rather than a directly after my domain (ie i used la.truxmap.com rather than truxmap.com/la). I realize now that this was a major mistake because Google seems to treat la.truxmap.com as a completely different site as ny.truxmap.com. So for instance, if i search "la food truck map" my site will be near the top, however, if i search "nyc food truck map" im no where in sight because ny.truxmap.com wouldnt be very high in the page rank by itself, and it doesnt have the boost that it ought to be getting from the better known la.truxmap.com So a mistake I made a year ago is now haunting my page rank. I'd like to know what the most painless way of resolving my dilemma might be. I have received so much press at la.truxmap.com that I can't just kill the site, but could I re-direct all requests at la.truxmap.com to truxmap.com/la and do the same for all cities supported without trashing my current, satisfactory page rank results I'm getting from la.truxmap.com ?? EDIT I left out some critical information. I am using Google Apps to manage my domain (that is, to add the subdomains) and Google App Engine to host my site. Thus, Google Apps provides a simple mechanism to mask truxmap.appspot.com (the app engine domain) as la.truxmap.com, but I don't see how I can mask it as truxmap.com/la. If I can get this done, then I can just 301 redirect la.truxmap.com to truxmap.com/la as suggested below. Thanks so much!

  • If we develop iOS app, and submit a new version to the App Store, it won't have a risk of having the old version pulled out?

    As an iOS developer, is it true that once we get an app into the App Store, we can quite safely update any new version and the worst it can happen is that the new version is rejected, but the old version in general will always stay, unless there was something egregious that Apple didn't catch the first time? (and what if a method in a class is deprecated and later even removed? Won't iOS 8, say, in the future not be able to run the old app?)

  • Can't deploy rails 4 app on Bluehost with Passenger 4 and nginx

    I am at Bluehost (dedicated server) trying to run a rails 4 app. I asked to have my server re-imaged, specifying that I do not want rails, ruby, or passenger install automatically as I wanted to install the latest versions myself using a version manager (Bluehost by default offers rails 2.3, ruby 1.8, and passenger 3, which won't work with my app). I installed ruby 1.9.3p327, rails 4.0.0, and passenger 4.0.5. I can verify this by typing, "ruby -v", "rails -v", and "passenger -v" (also "gem -v"). I made sure to install these not as root, so that I don't get a 403 forbidden error when trying to deploy the app. I installed passenger by typing "gem install passenger", and then installed the nginx passenger module (into "/nginx") with "passenger-install-nginx-module". I am trying to run my rails app on a subdomain, http://development.thegraduate.hk (I am using the subdomain to show my client progress on the website). In bluehost I created that subdomain, and had it point to "public_html/thegraduate". I then created a symlink from "rails_apps/thegraduate/public" to "public_html/thegraduate" and verified that the symlink exists. The problem is: when I go to http://development.thegraduate.hk, I get a directory listing. There is nothing resembling a rails app. I have not added a .htaccess file to /rails_apps/thegraduate/public, as that was never specified in the installation of passenger. It was meant to be 'install and go'. When I type "passenger-memory-status", I get 3 things: - Apache processes (7) - Nginx processes (0) - Passenger processes (0) So it appears that nginx and passenger are not running, and I can't figure out how to get it to run (I'm not looking to have it run as a standalone server).     Hi All, I want to perform a simple slide motion on an HTML element. JQuery is already available on the site in question so the next logical step for me was to look at their documentation. JQuery - Slide down When I check out their demo however, it doesn't seem to be functioning. In firebug they have an error; missing ) after argument list wyciwyg://0/http://docs.jquery.com/UI/Effects/Slide Line 18 Whilst the error seems simple, I can't work out how to correct it (On thier site by editing the JS). On my own site using the same example an error is found in the JQuery 1.4.2 script itself; jQuery.easing[specialEasing || defaultEasing] is not a function file:///home/gav/ee-workspaces/web/site/php/jquery-1.4.2.js Line 5854 I don't mean to sound lazy / rude but what's going on? Is the JQuery site and newest release actually broken, I doubt it, what am I doing wrong?     Hi, I face some difficulties when adding a framework to my project when i run an iPhone app from the command line. My final goal is to run applications tests from an automated build process. When i run my app from xCode : I add a "Copy File" build phase to my target and everything goes fine. The copy is set to $(BUILT_PRODUCTS_DIR) as "Absolute path" When i run my app from the terminal (using iphonesim project) i get this error : dyld: Library not loaded: @rpath/OCMock.framework/Versions/A/OCMock UIKitApplication:indemnisation[0xb894][26380] Referenced from: /Users/Admin/Library/Application Support/iPhone Simulator/User/Applications/CD5729B5-A674-49B2-91F6-AD398094B6F8/indemINT.app/indemINT What i dont understand is that the copy build phase just copies the framework files in the same directory that the app. When i run the app from the command line the framework files are already in the same directory. Does anyone knows why it doesn't work ?   • AdMob ad in iPhone app makes App content disappear when "done" is pressed!

    Hello All, When I return from an adMob ad by hitting "done" the content of my app has disappeared ! All that remains is a background image I had attached directly to the main window. Oddly I can still hear the result of my touch events from my main screen (which is now gone). This may be related to the issue some people have had regarding a 20 pixel move involving the toolbar...I see something to that effect as the ad starts to overlay. I have admob in another app that is working fine, and I notice when the ad opens in that app the ad content fills the whole screen EXCEPT the top toolbar (it starts right under it). In the new app I'm working on right now this isn't the case. When the ad starts to open I see the tool bar vanish, then the add comes in and fills the entire screen (including the area where the tool bar was); then when I click done and the the ad goes away everything under it is gone as well. It may be worth noting that the App I had working was 2.x and the current app is 3.x (and thus using the admob 3.0 libraries). This is very odd and deal-breaking; I need help ASAP The relevant part of my view hierarchy is as follows: AppDelegate - ViewController - MainView (Ad is in here) There are also some other Views that are children of the ViewController and a UITabbar is also a subview of the ViewController (programmatically declared, not a UITabBar Controller). Any help you can offer would be extremely appreciate...I need to resolve this issue ASAP, release in two days! Thanks!!

    I am writing an app for BlackBerry that utilizes a BlackBerry smartcard reader. There is not much documentation on the subject, so I'd really like if someone could give me starting examples. Basically, there is one RSA private key on the card plus a certificate (for paired public key). I would like to be able to encrypt/decrypt data and also sign it as well. The final goal would be to establish an mutual-authenticated SSL connection using client certificate contained on the smartcard. I will create my custom tiles using MOBAC.     Scenario: I have a windows form that holds a DataGridWiew with 3 pre-defined columns. I have 3 variables declared outside the function and assigned to inside the function. I have a function that enumerates stuff and puts it in the 3 columns, line by line: string VARIABLE1; string VARIABLE2; string VARIABLE3; private void FunctionEnumerateStuff() { foreach (StuffObject STUFF in StuffCollection) { VARIABLE1 = STUFF.SubStuff1.ToString(); VARIABLE2 = STUFF.SubStuff2.ToString(); VARIABLE3 = STUFF.SubStuff3.ToString(); DatagridWiew1.Rows.Add(VALUE1, VALUE2, VALUE3); } } What I want to do, is to execute this function from a BackGroundWorker process, so that the GUI of the application will be smooth and responsive. I have read up on backgroundworkers but I am having trouble relating, because all examples seems to be of entirely different scenarios and most of them are overwelmingly complex. San some helpful pedagogic soul help me and others with a very basic example of how to get this to work in the simplest way possible. Thanks.

    Hi, i am trying to add a swipe to delete feature to the addmusic example project (downloaded free from apple) so that i am able able to delete a specific row. Ive added the following code just so that i can enable to delete feature but i dont know how to remove the song from the list which i believe to be the mediaItemCollection and actually deleting it from the userMediaItemCollection which is used to queue the songs to the player. - (void)tableView:(UITableView*)tableView willBeginEditingRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { } - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView commitEditingStyle:(UITableViewCellEditingStyle)editingStyle forRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { // If row is deleted, remove it from the list. if (editingStyle == UITableViewCellEditingStyleDelete) { // delete your data item here // Animate the deletion from the table. [tableView deleteRowsAtIndexPaths:[NSArray arrayWithObject:indexPath]withRowAnimation:UITableViewRowAnimationFade]; } } The swipe to delete feature works nicely, the delete button only appears when swiped, but when i click delete, a SIGBART error occurs, the whole application freezes, (although the musix does continue to play, lol). Can someone please tell me how i can delete the row at that index and how i can delete it from the mediaitemcollection please. When taking that single line of code out: [tableView deleteRowsAtIndexPaths:[NSArray arrayWithObject:indexPath]withRowAnimation:UITableViewRowAnimationFade]; the swipe to delete works, except that it does not delete anything obviously since i havent added any actual delete functionality/coding that needs to be done. All ideas appreciated.

    I am trying to understand Anemic Domain Models and why they are supposedly an anti-pattern. Here is a real world example. I have an Employee class, which has a ton of properties - name, gender, username, etc public class Employee { public string Name { get; set; } public string Gender { get; set; } public string Username { get; set; } // Etc.. mostly getters and setters } Next we have a system that involves rotating incoming phone calls and website enquiries (known as 'leads') evenly amongst sales staff. This system is quite complex as it involves round-robining enquiries, checking for holidays, employee preferences etc. So this system is currently seperated out into a service: EmployeeLeadRotationService. public class EmployeeLeadRotationService : IEmployeeLeadRotationService { private IEmployeeRepository _employeeRepository; // ...plus lots of other injected repositories and services public void SelectEmployee(ILead lead) { // Etc. lots of complex logic } } Then on the backside of our website enquiry form we have code like this: public void SubmitForm() { var lead = CreateLeadFromFormInput(); var selectedEmployee = Kernel.Get<IEmployeeLeadRotationService>() .SelectEmployee(lead); Response.Write(employee.Name + " will handle your enquiry. Thanks."); } I don't really encounter many problems with this approach, but supposedly this is something that I should run screaming from because it is an Anemic Domain Model. But for me its not clear where the logic in the lead rotation service should go. Should it go in the lead? Should it go in the employee? What about all the injected repositories etc that the rotation service requires - how would they be injected into the employee, given that most of the time when dealing with an employee we don't need any of these repositories?

  • Simple NSTableView bindings example

    I am trying to populate a 2-column NSVTableView via bindings, but the data is not showing up in the table. In XCode: I have a NSMutableArray in my AppDelegate that will hold the data, as well as the corresponding @property and @synthesize. On an event, I call [removeAllObjects] on the NSMutableArray and repopulate it with some NSDictionary objects. Each dictionary contains 2 KVP's: a NAME and a VALUE. In IB: I added an NSArrayController and bound it's Content Array to my AppDelegate and set the ModelKeyPath to the name of the NSMutableArray in the AppDelegate. On the NSTableView, I bound the Content to the ArrayController. ControllerKey = "arrangedObjects", ModelKeyPath = empty. For each of the two columns, I bound the Value to the AppController and set the ModelKeyPaths to NAME and VALUE respectively. ControllerKey = "ArrangedObjects". I have tried several other things, such as using an NSArray in the app delegate and making a new one every time I need to update the values. There must be some tiny little thing I am forgetting. What is it? jorj
