  • Pasting images in TinyMCE on rails app

    - by Sam Kong
Hi, I found a weird problem with TinyMCE editor. Copying & pasting images from another domain works fine but if the images are on the same domain the path are relative but not correct sometimes. I figured out that the problem is related to the rails URL scheme. Example) Images are copied from http://mydomain.com/index.html page and the real images path is http://mydomain.com/photos/image.jpg. Editor page: http://mydomain.com/posts/new = image path is set as ../photos/image.jpg http://mydomain.com/posts/edit/123 = image path is set as ../../photos/image.jpg So I tried http://mydomain.com/posts/new/ and it worked. How do I solve this problem? Thanks. Sam

  • load/unload C dll with C# problems

    - by Goran
I'm having problems with external native DLL. I'm working on ASP.NET 1.1 web application and have this DLL which I load through DLLImport directives. This is how I map DLL functions: [DllImport("somedllname", CallingConvention=CallingConvention.StdCall)] public static extern int function1(string lpFileName, string lpOwnerPw,string lpUserPw); [DllImport("somedllname", CallingConvention=CallingConvention.StdCall)] public static extern int function2(int nHandle); I call the dll methods and all works great, but I have problems with this DLL crashing my web site on some cases, so I would like an option to unload the dll after I use it. I found a solution at this link, but I don't have 'UnmanagedFunctionPointer' attribute in .NET 1.1 available. http://blogs.msdn.com/jonathanswift/archive/2006/10/03/Dynamically-calling-an-unmanaged-dll-from-.NET-_2800_C_23002900_.aspx Is there a way I can achieve what this guy did with his example?

  • Rails: blank page - no errors or stack trace

    - by Nathan Long
I've been trying to fix a bug in the Rails app I'm developing, and I keep getting a blank screen with no errors. I haven't found anything helpful in development.log, either (though it does show queries being run and such). Finally, I started to wonder if it's somehow set not to show errors anymore. I tried commenting out a necessary route, and sure enough, I got a blank page instead of the error and stack trace I expected. What might cause this? (I wondered if maybe I'm accidentally running production mode and errors aren't supposed to show then, but development.log is being appended, and if I open script/console and echo ENV['RAILS_ENV'], it says development.)

  • Whats the significance of named scope in rails?

    - by piemesons
Before going for details. Question 1:-- Whats the meaning of scope here (ie named scope)? whats the benefits of using named scope? Now:- from agile development with rails book:-- class Order < ActiveRecord::Base named_scope :last_n_days, lambda { |days| {:conditions => ['updated < ?' , days] } } named_scope :checks, :conditions => {:pay_type => :check} end Such a named scope would make finding the last weeks worth of orders a snap. orders = Orders.last_n_days(7) Scopes can also be combined orders = Orders.checks.last_n_days(7) why we are using named_scope here. We can do the same using methods. Whats special thing we got using named_scope.

  • Ruby on Rails - differentiating plural vs singular resource in a REST API

    - by randombits
I'm working on building the URLs for my REST API before I begin writing any code. Rails REST magic is fantastic, but I'm slightly bothered the formatting of a URL such as: http://myproject/projects/5 where Project is my resource and 5 is the project_id. I think if a user is looking to retrieve all of their projects, then a respective HTTP GET http://myproject/projects makes sense. However if they're looking to retrieve information on a singular resource, such as a project, then it makes sense to have http://myproject/project/5 vs http://myproject/projects/5. Is it best to avoid this headache, or do some of you share a similar concern and even better - have a working solution?

  • Rails session cookie not getting set

    - by bwizzy
    I have a rails app that is a CMS that uses dynamic subdomains for each site. For some reason when I deployed to production the session cookie is not getting set. I'm thinking this is leading to the "Invalid Authenticity Token" errors that are being thrown everywhere. I have my production.rb setup so that I can share sessions across subdomains. What could be going wrong that the cookie isn't being set at all? #production.rb config.action_controller.session[:domain] = '.domain.com' #environment.rb config.action_controller.session = { :session_key => '_app_session', :secret => '.... nums and chars .....' }

  • How to implement a Counter Cache in Rails?

    - by yuval
I have a posts controller and a comments controller. Post has many comments, and comments belong to Post. The associate is set up with the counter_cache option turned on as such: #Inside post.rb has_many :comments #Inside comment.rb belongs_to :post, :counter_cache => true I have a comments_count column in my posts table that is defaulted to zero, as such: add_column :posts, :comments_count, :integer, :default => 0 In the create action of my comments controller, I have the following code: def create @posts = Post.find(params[:post_id]) @comment = @post.comments.build(params[:comment]) if @comment.save redirect_to root else render :action => 'new' end end My problem: when @comment.save is called, I get the following error: ArgumentError in CommentsController#create wrong number of arguments (2 for 0) Removing :counter_cache => true from comment.rb completely solves the problem, so I'm assuming that it is the cause of this vague error. What am I missing here? How can I save my comment and still have rails take care of my counter_cache for my post? Thanks!

  • Achieve Rails-style migrations in MS Access VBA application

    - by avguchenko
This is a simple way to do Rails-style migrations in a VBA application. Just add additional migrations like migration(name, sql_string, database) to run_migratons and call run_migrations somewhere in the beginning of your execution. Function migrate(signature As String, sql As String, dbs As DAO.database) Dim rs As DAO.Recordset Set rs = dbs.OpenRecordset("select * from versions where migration = '" & signature & "'") If rs.EOF Then dbs.Execute (sql) rs.AddNew rs("migration") = signature rs.Update End If End Function Function setup_versions(dbs As DAO.database) Dim t As DAO.TableDef On Error Resume Next Set t = dbs.TableDefs("versions") If Err.Number <> 0 Then dbs.Execute ("CREATE TABLE versions (migration text)") End If Err.Clear End Function Function run_migrations(dbs As DAO.database) setup_versions(dbs) migrate("20100315142400_create_table", "CREATE TABLE table_name (field1 type, field 2 type)", dbs) 'add migrations here' End Function

  • rails: include statement with two ON conditions

    - by Markus
Hi, I have tree tables books bookmarks users where there is a n to m relation from books to users trough bookmarks. Im looking for a query, where I get all the books of a certain user including the bookmarks. If no bookmarks are there, there should be a null included... my sql statement looks like: SELECT * FROM `books` LEFT OUTER JOIN `bookmarks ` ON bookmarks.book_id = books.id AND bookmarks.user_id = ? In rails I only know the :include statement, but how can I add the second bookmarks.user_id = ? statement in the ON section of this query? if I put it in the :conditions part, no null results would get returned! Thanks! Markus

  • Rails: ValidationReflection and Formtastic not working together

    - by user336777
I installed validation_reflection as a gem and out of the box it picked up on my validates_presence_of validations. But it is not picking up on any of the other default rails validations such as validates_format_of. I know from the documentation that i am supposed to add something like: config.reflected_validations << :validates_format_of to my config/plugins/validation_reflection.rb file (which didn't exist initially). I did this but nothing changed (i restarted the web server in between). I am not sure if it just isn't picking up on my file and loading validation_reflection.rb or if i have done something wrong. Anyone have any insights?

  • Load testing a quicktime streaming server from ubuntu machine

    - by ebeland
I have software that can launch and control multiple firefox browsers on Ubuntu EC2 images. I need to run a small load test against a QuickTime Streaming server. The stream starts automatically when loaded in a browser that has the QuickTime plugin, so I don't need to automate the stream once it starts. Alternately, I can also make these machines run arbitrary ruby code or executables. How can I get these ubuntu machines to pull in the stream? Also, how can I capture bandwidth usage (maybe a shell script?) on the worker machines?

  • Ruby on Rails Join Table Associations

    - by Eef
Hey, I have a Ruby on Rails application setup like so: User Model has_and_belongs_to_many :roles Role Model has_many :transactions has_and_belongs_to_many :users Transaction Model belongs_to :role This means that a join table is used called roles_users and it also means that a user can only see the transactions that have been assigned to them through roles, usage example: user = User.find(1) transactions = user.roles.first.transactions This will return the transactions which are associated with the first role assigned to the user. If a user has 2 roles assigned to them, at the moment to get the transactions associated with the second role I would do: transactions = user.roles.last.transactions I am basically trying to figure out a way to setup an association so I can grab the user's transactions via something like this based on the roles defined in the association between the user and roles: user = User.find(1) transactions = user.transactions I am not sure if this is possible? I hope you understand what I am trying to do.

  • How to cache queries in Rails across multiple requests

    - by m.u.sheikh
I want to cache query results so that the same results are fetched "for more than one request" till i invalidate the cache. For instance, I want to render a sidebar which has all the pages of a book, much like the index of a book. As i want to show it on every page of the book, I have to load it on every request. I can cache the rendered sidebar index using action caching, but i also want to actually cache the the query results which are used to generate the html for the sidebar. Does Rails provide a way to do it? How can i do it?

  • Supporting different locale regions using Rails i18n

    - by Olly
I'm using the standard Rails I18n API to localise some of our views. This is working really well, but we now have a few use cases for regional changes to the en locale. The API guide mentions that this isn't supported directly, and other plugins should be used. However, I'm wondering whether there's a simpler way to do this. I already have en.yml, so in theory I could just create en-AU.yml and en-US.yml which are effectively clones of en.yml but with a few regional changes applied. I could then add additional English - American and English - Australian options to our configuration which would map to the new region-specific locales and allow users to use a region-specific locale. The only problem I can think of with this is that it isn't DRY -- I would have duplicate translations for all common English words. I can't see a way around this. Are there any other disadvantages to this approach, or should I just bite the bullet and dive into one of the plug-ins such as Globalize2 instead?

  • Resuming File Downloads in Ruby on Rails

    - by jaycode
Hi, this has been asked here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1840413/resuming-file-downloads-in-ruby-on-rails-range-header-support But there was no answer. I am having similar problem, could anybody help, please? Thanks before. Alright I am getting close. Seems like I need to setup header Content-Length or Content-Range, as described here: http://www.w3.org/Protocols/rfc2616/rfc2616-sec14.html#sec14.13. Haven't got an idea how. Anybody knows? Jay response.header["Content-Range"] = "20000-#{size}" send_file "#{Dir.pwd}/products/filename.zip", :type => 'application/zip', :size => (size - 20000) doesn't work

  • ruby, rails, railscasts example gone bad

    - by Sam
    If you saw the railscasts on nested forms this is the helper method to create links dynamically. However, after I upgraded to ruby 1.9.2 and rails 3 this doesn't work and I have now idea why. def link_to_add_fields(name, f, association) new_object = f.object.class.reflect_on_association(association).klass.new fields = f.fields_for(association, new_object, :child_index => "new_#{association}") do |builder| render(association.to_s.singularize + "_fields", :f => builder) end link_to_function(name, h("add_fields(this, \"#{association}\", \"#{escape_javascript(fields)}\")")) end here is the javascript function add_fields(link, association, content) { var new_id = new Date().getTime(); var regexp = new RegExp("new_" + association, "g") $(link).up().insert({ before: content.replace(regexp, new_id) }); }

  • Problems using an id from a model inside a custom sql query in Rails

    - by Thiago
Hi there, I want to do a model class which associates to itself on Rails. Basically, a user has friends, which are also users. I typed the following inside a User model class: has_many :friends, :class_name => "User", :foreign_key => :user_id, :finder_sql => %{SELECT users.* FROM users INNER JOIN friends ON (users.id = friends.user_id OR users.id = friends.friend_id) WHERE users.id <> #{id}} But the funny fact is that it seems that this finder_sql is called twice whenever I type User.first.friends on irb. Why?

  • Load balancing, connection loop

    - by Iapilgrim
Hi all, I've set up load balancing using Apache, Tomcat through ajp connector. Here the config Apache/httpd.conf BalancerMember ajp://10.0.10.13:8009 route=osmoz-tomcat-1 retry=5 BalancerMember ajp://10.0.10.14:8009 route=osmoz-tomcat-2 retry=5 < Location / Allow From All ProxyPass balancer://tomcatservers/ stickysession=JSESSIONID nofailover=off ProxyPassReverse / < /Location When I try to access https://mycms.net/apps/bo/signin I see the connection loop forever ( redirection forever). • validating creation by post_id and ip_address - Ruby on Rails

    - by bgadoci
I have created a blog application using Ruby on Rails which includes the ability to vote on posts. A user can click vote and a record is created in the vote table. I am now trying to limit that same person from voting for a post multiple times. class Post has_many :votes end class Vote belongs_to :post end When a vote record is created I am using the VotesController to pass the :post_id and using a hidden field in the view to pass the ip_address (both to the vote table). I am wondering if there is a way to add a validation to the Vote Model that searches to see if a post_id has an ip_address that matches the person requesting to vote. I have tried simply using the validates_uniqueness_of :ip_address but that restricts the user from voting on any post. I just want to restrict the user from voting on a particular post that they have already voted on. Is there a way to do this through validation?

  • MySQL LOAD DATA LOCAL INFILE example in python?

    - by David Perron
I am looking for a syntax definition, example, sample code, wiki, etc. for executing a LOAD DATA LOCAL INFILE command from python. I believe I can use mysqlimport as well if that is available, so any feedback (and code snippet) on which is the better route, is welcome. A Google search is not turning up much in the way of current info The goal in either case is the same: Automate loading hundreds of files with a known naming convention & date structure, into a single MySQL table. • rails accessing value from facebooker hash/array

    - by Ben
This is my first time using the facebooker plugin with rails, and I'm having trouble accessing user info. The website uses FB connect to authenticate users. I am trying to get the name of the university that the logged in user attends. When I use the command <%= facebook_session.user.education_history[:name] %>, I get an error "Symbol as array index". I have also tried using education_history[1], but that just returns "# Facebooker::EducationInfo:<some sort of alphanumeric hash value>" When I use something like <%= facebook_session.user.relationship_status %> , it returns the relationship status just fine. Similarly, <%= facebook_session.user.hometown_location.city %> returns the city name just fine. I've checked out the documentation for facebooker, but I can't figure out the correct way to get the values I need. Any idea on how to get this to work? Thanks!
