  • ModelState.AddModelError showing error twice

    - by parminder
    Hi Experts, With MVC stuff when there is an error on property leve, we can add error to modelstate but the same error is added to the summary also. How can we avoid to display it twice. I want to display only public errors in the message summary and all other at property level. Regards Parminder

  • How to do HTTP authentication with Goliath/Heroku?

    - by David
    I'm using Goliath as my app server, and I am trying to convert "Ruby – Secure staging environment of your public app from users and bots" so it applies to my Goliath application. I am trying to use Rack::Static but I'm not sure how to write the code. I was trying something like: class Application < Goliath::API use(Rack::Lock) But I am not really sure how to translate the link I posted. I'm open to other alternatives, I just need my whole site password protected.

LINQ to Entities only supports casting Entity Data Model primitive types. Source is System.Data.Entity any idea how to fix this or if theres any workaround

  • AccessViolationException thrown

    - by user255371
    Hi, I’m working on a project that’s written in C# and uses a C++ dll to communicate with a robot. Originally the software was written in C# VS 2003 and was converted to VS 2008 (no change to the code) using .Net 2.0. Now, I started seeing the “Attempted to read or write protected memory…” on some computers. The Access violation error is always thrown when the code calls a particular method from the dll, however, that very same method is called over and over throughout the task and executes fine, just sometimes it throws the error. Also, the robot seems to execute the command fine which tells me that the values passed into the dll exist and thus are accessible. The software with the .Net 1.1 has been used for years and worked fine without ever throwing any memory errors. Now that it has been using .Net 2.0 it throws errors on some computers only. I’m not sure what’s causing the issue. I ruled out inappropriate calling (incorrect marshalling …) of the dll methods as it has been working fine with .Net 1.1 for years and thus should work fine in .Net 2.0 as well. I’ve seen some posts suggesting that it could be the GC, but then again why would it only happen on this one computer and only sometimes. Also, the values passed in are all global variables in the C# code and thus they should exist until the application is shut down and GC has no business moving any of those around or deleting them. Another observation, as I mentioned above, the robot executes the command normally which means that it gets all its necessary values. Not sure what the C++ dll’s method would do at the end where the GC could mess up stuff. It shouldn’t try to delete the global variables passed in and the method is not modifying those variables either (I’m not expecting any return values through the passed in values, the only return value is the method return which again shouldn’t have anything to do with GC.) One important piece of information I should add is that I have no access to the C++ code and thus cannot make any changes there. The fix has to come through the C# code or some settings on the computer or something else that I am in control of. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks. Code snippet: Original method call in VS 2003 [DllImport("TOOLB32.dll",EntryPoint="TbxMoveWash")] public static extern int TbxMoveWash(int tArmId, string lpszCarrierRackId, int eZSelect, int[] lpTipSet, int tVol, bool bFastW); which I modified after seeing the error to the following (but the error still occurs): [DllImport("TOOLB32.dll",EntryPoint="TbxMoveWash")] public static extern int TbxMoveWash(int tArmId, string lpszCarrierRackId, int eZSelect, [MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.LPArray, SizeConst = 8)] int[] lpTipSet, int tVol, bool bFastW);

  • Pattern for verifying authenticity of a request to WCF service

    - by fung
    I have a client app that makes calls to a WCF service. This app is on a public computer that's easily accessible and anyone can easily copy the .EXE and .CONFIG of my app into another machine and start using it. Is there a pattern where I can check if the request is coming only from an app on a computer I installed it on and not on one it has been copied to? Thanks in advance.

  • AvalonDock + UserControl + DataGrid + ContextMenu command routing issue

    - by repka
    I have this kind of layout: <Window x:Class="DockAndMenuTest.MainWindow" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:ad="clr-namespace:AvalonDock;assembly=AvalonDock" Title="MainWindow" Height="350" Width="525"> <ad:DockingManager> <ad:DocumentPane> <ad:DockableContent Title="Doh!"> <UserControl> <UserControl.CommandBindings> <CommandBinding Command="Zoom" Executed="ExecuteZoom" CanExecute="CanZoom"/> </UserControl.CommandBindings> <DataGrid Name="_evilGrid"> <DataGrid.Resources> <Style TargetType="DataGridRow"> <Setter Property="ContextMenu"> <Setter.Value> <ContextMenu> <MenuItem Command="Zoom"/> </ContextMenu> </Setter.Value> </Setter> </Style> </DataGrid.Resources> </DataGrid> </UserControl> </ad:DockableContent> </ad:DocumentPane> </ad:DockingManager> </Window> Briefly: ContextMenu is set for each DataGridRow of DataGrid inside UserControl, which in its turn is inside DockableContent of AvalonDock. Code-behind is trivial as well: public partial class MainWindow { public MainWindow() { InitializeComponent(); _evilGrid.ItemsSource = new[] { Tuple.Create(1, 2, 3), Tuple.Create(4, 4, 3), Tuple.Create(6, 7, 1), }; } private void ExecuteZoom(object sender, ExecutedRoutedEventArgs e) { MessageBox.Show("zoom !"); } private void CanZoom(object sender, CanExecuteRoutedEventArgs e) { e.CanExecute = true; } } So here's the problem: right-clicking on the selected row (if it it was selected before the right click) my command comes out disabled. The command is "Zoom" in this case, but can be any other, including a custom one. If I get rid of either docking or UserControl around my grid there are no problems. ListBox doesn't have this issue either. So I don't know what's at fault here. SNOOP shows that in cases when this propagation fails, instead of UserControl, CanExecute is handled by PART_ShowContextMenuButton (Button), which is part of docking header. I've had other issues with UI command propagation within UserControls hosted inside AvalonDock, but this one is the easiest to reproduce.

  • C# Nested Property Accessing overloading OR Sequential Operator Overloading

    - by Tim
    Hey, I've been searching around for a solution to a tricky problem we're having with our code base. To start, our code resembles the following: class User { int id; int accountId; Account account { get { return Account.Get(accountId); } } } class Account { int accountId; OnlinePresence Presence { get { return OnlinePresence.Get(accountId); } } public static Account Get(int accountId) { // hits a database and gets back our object. } } class OnlinePresence { int accountId; bool isOnline; public static OnlinePresence Get(int accountId) { // hits a database and gets back our object. } } What we're often doing in our code is trying to access the account Presence of a user by doing var presence = user.Account.Presence; The problem with this is that this is actually making two requests to the database. One to get the Account object, and then one to get the Presence object. We could easily knock this down to one request if we did the following : var presence = UserPresence.Get(user.id); This works, but sort of requires developers to have an understanding of the UserPresence class/methods that would be nice to eliminate. I've thought of a couple of cool ways to be able to handle this problem, and was wondering if anyone knows if these are possible, if there are other ways of handling this, or if we just need to think more as we're coding and do the UserPresence.Get instead of using properties. Overload nested accessors. It would be cool if inside the User class I could write some sort of "extension" that would say "any time a User object's Account property's Presence object is being accessed, do this instead". Overload the . operator with knowledge of what comes after. If I could somehow overload the . operator only in situations where the object on the right is also being "dotted" it would be great. Both of these seem like things that could be handled at compile time, but perhaps I'm missing something (would reflection make this difficult?). Am I looking at things completely incorrectly? Is there a way of enforcing this that removes the burden from the user of the business logic? Thanks! Tim

  • JSF Navigation issue Facelets and Beans

    - by ortho
    Hi, I have an issue with navigation in my simple jsf system. I have MainBean that has two methods: public String register() and public String login(). I have played with faces-config.xml for several hours and I feel like I miss something very important because I think like I have tried all simple solutions so far :). I have added the mysql connector (jdbc) to Tomcat's lib folder and I am able to register the table to mySQL databse. It even allows my users to log in to the page. The only problem is that I can't use navigation in any other page than login.xhtml. Seems like navigation is only active on this one. I tried to use * but is no joy. I am sure that there is a simple fix for that and someone will come up with correct solution soon. Let's skip all the mysql part and try to fix the navigation issue please. faces-config.xml: http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee/web-facesconfig_1_2.xsd" version="1.2" com.sun.facelets.FaceletViewHandler mainBean dk.itu.beans.MainBean session registerBean dk.itu.beans.RegisterBean session /login.xhtml success /welcome.xhtml failure /login_failed.xhtml sign /register.xhtml /login_failed.xhtml back /login.xhtml Here the last navigation-rule from login_failed.xhtml does not work at all. login.xhtml (which is the main - starting view): login_failed.xhtml: Here I tried many options. I used action="#{mainBean.register})" method that returns "sign" string and none of these worked. There is one more file (not specified in faces-config.xml file, because did not work either - but going from login.xhtml by button works fine. I tried to manage navigation from login_failed.xhtml first, then I will apply the same rool for registration to come back to login page when customer registers his nick name). register.xhtml: Basicaly mainBean.register now calls the database and returns string, but obviously it doesn't navigate to any view (but gives an entry to database). I believe it is simple fix for most of the experienced web developers and any help will be greately appreciated. I use eclipse, tomcat 6 and Widows Vista if that helps :) Thank you in advance. Kindest regards.

  • DocBook sources of "Starting with Lift"

    - by Wilfred Springer
    By the looks of it, I wouldn't be surprised if "Starting with Lift" has been created from DocBook. I looked in Lift's Git repositories, but I haven't been able to find the source DocBook documents. So, is it really based on DocBook? And if it is, is it available from some public repository?

  • how to organise my abstraction?

    - by DaveM
    I have a problem that I can't decide how to best handle, so I'm asking for advice. Please bear with me if my question isn't clear, it is possiblybecause I'm not sure exacly how to solve! I have a set of function that I have in a class. These function are a set of lowest commonality. To be able to run this I need to generate certain info. But this info can arrive with my class from one of 2 routes. I'll try to summarise my situation.... Lets say that I have a class as follows. public class onHoliday(){ private Object modeOfTravel; private Object location; public onHoliday(Object vehicle, Location GPScoords) { private boolean haveFun(){//function to have fun, needs 4 people }//end haveFun() } } Lets imagine I can get to my holiday either by car or by bike. my haveFun() function is dependant my type of vehicle. But only loosely. I have another function that determines my vehicle type, and extracts the required values. for example if I send a car I may get 4 people in one go, but if I send I bike I need at least 2 to get the required 4 I have currently 2 options: Overload my constructor, so as I can send either 2 bikes or a single car into it, then I can call one of 2 intermediate functions (to get the names of my 4 people for instance) before I haveFun() - this is what I am currently doing. split the 2 constructors into 2 separate classes, and repeat my haveFun() in a third class, that becomes an object of my 2 other classes. my problem with this is that my intermediate functions are all but a few lines of code, and I don't want to have them in a separate file! (I allways put classes in separate files!) Please note, my haveFun() isn't something that I'm going to need outside of these 2 classes, or even being onHoliday (ie. there is no chance of me doing some haveFun() over a weekend or of an evening!). I have though about putting haveFun() into an interface, but it seems a bit worthless having an interface with only a single method! Even then I would have to have the method in both of the classes -one for bike and another for car! I have thought about having my onHoliday class accepting any object type, but then I don't want someone accidentally sending in a boat to my onHoliday class (imagine I can't swim, so its not about to happen). It may be important to note that my onHoliday class is package private, and final. It in fact is only accessed via other 'private methods' in other classes, and has only private methods itself. Thanks in advance. David

  • Overloading *(iterator + n) and *(n + iterator) in a C++ iterator class?

    - by exscape
    (Note: I'm writing this project for learning only; comments about it being redundant are... uh, redundant. ;) I'm trying to implement a random access iterator, but I've found very little literature on the subject, so I'm going by trial and error combined with Wikpedias list of operator overload prototypes. It's worked well enough so far, but I've hit a snag. Code such as exscape::string::iterator i = string_instance.begin(); std::cout << *i << std::endl; works, and prints the first character of the string. However, *(i + 1) doesn't work, and neither does *(1 + i). My full implementation would obviously be a bit too much, but here's the gist of it: namespace exscape { class string { friend class iterator; ... public: class iterator : public std::iterator<std::random_access_iterator_tag, char> { ... char &operator*(void) { return *p; // After some bounds checking } char *operator->(void) { return p; } char &operator[](const int offset) { return *(p + offset); // After some bounds checking } iterator &operator+=(const int offset) { p += offset; return *this; } const iterator operator+(const int offset) { iterator out (*this); out += offset; return out; } }; }; } int main() { exscape::string s = "ABCDEF"; exscape::string::iterator i = s.begin(); std::cout << *(i + 2) << std::endl; } The above fails with (line 632 is, of course, the *(i + 2) line): string.cpp: In function ‘int main()’: string.cpp:632: error: no match for ‘operator*’ in ‘*exscape::string::iterator::operator+(int)(2)’ string.cpp:105: note: candidates are: char& exscape::string::iterator::operator*() *(2 + i) fails with: string.cpp: In function ‘int main()’: string.cpp:632: error: no match for ‘operator+’ in ‘2 + i’ string.cpp:434: note: candidates are: exscape::string exscape::operator+(const char*, const exscape::string&) My guess is that I need to do some more overloading, but I'm not sure what operator I'm missing.

  • Convert JSON query parameters to objects with JAX-RS

    - by deamon
    I have a JAX-RS resource, which gets its paramaters as a JSON string like this: http://some.test/aresource?query={"paramA":"value1", "paramB":"value2"} The reason to use JSON here, is that the query object can be quite complex in real use cases. I'd like to convert the JSON string to a Java object, dto in the example: @GET @Produces("text/plain") public String getIt(@QueryParam("query") DataTransferObject dto ) { ... } Does JAX-RS support such a conversion from JSON passed as a query param to Java objects?

When I run the application a command window is also displayed as well as the application window. How can I prevent the command window showing up? using System; using System.Drawing; using System.Windows.Forms; using System.Media; using System.IO; namespace mynamespace { class MyForm : Form { public Button btnPlay; MyForm() { this.SuspendLayout(); this.Text = "My Application"; InitialiseForm(); this.ResumeLayout(false); } private void InitialiseForm() { btnPlay = new Button(); btnPlay.Location = new System.Drawing.Point(30,40); btnPlay.Text = "Play"; btnPlay.Click += new System.EventHandler(btnPlay_Click); this.Controls.Add(btnPlay); } protected void btnPlay_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { string wav = "testing123.wav"; Stream resourceStream = System.Reflection.Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly().GetManifestResourceStream(wav); SoundPlayer player = new SoundPlayer(resourceStream); player.Play(); } public static void Main() { Application.Run(new MyForm()); } } } Build file <?xml version="1.0"?> <project name="myform" default="build" basedir="."> <description>My Form app</description> <property name="debug" value="true" overwrite="false"/> <target name="clean" description="Remove all generated files"> <delete dir="build"/> </target> <target name="build" description="Compile the source" depends="clean"> <mkdir dir="build"/> <csc target="exe" output="build\MyForm.exe" debug="${debug}" verbose="true"> <resources> <include name="app\resources\*.wav" /> </resources> <sources> <include name="app\MyForm.cs"/> </sources> </csc> </target> </project>

    - by user262325
    Hello everyone I am using UIWebView to load a web page. There are 2 questions: 1.It it possible to track the percentage progress when UIWebView is loading the page? 2.I know there is property scalesPageToFit scalesPageToFit A Boolean value determining whether the webpage scales to fit the view and the user can change the scale. I try to set it to YES, but it looks like that it is not in public API and my app stopped with black screen, I am not sure what is wrong? Welcome any comment Thanks interdev

I have found "Spanned fromHtml(String source)", but I don't know how to plug it into my java code. Here is my Java: package com.SorenWinslow.TriumphHistory; import android.app.ListActivity; import android.os.Bundle; import android.widget.ArrayAdapter; public class TriumphHistory extends ListActivity { String[] HistoryList; /** Called when the activity is first created. */ @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); ArrayAdapter<String> adapter; HistoryList = getResources().getStringArray(R.array.history); adapter = new ArrayAdapter<String> (this,R.layout.historylistlayout,HistoryList); setListAdapter(adapter); } } Here is a sample of history: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <resources> <string-array name="history"> <item><b>1883</b><br/>Some stuff happened</item> <item><b>1884</b><br/>Some more stuff happened <i>before</i> the other stuff </item> <resources> Here is my historylistlayout.xml: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <TextView xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@android:id/text1" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:textAppearance="?android:attr/textAppearanceLarge" android:gravity="center_vertical" android:textColor="#ffffff" android:background="#000050" android:layout_marginTop="5px" android:minHeight="?android:attr/listPreferredItemHeight" android:padding="3px" android:textSize="8pt" android:layout_gravity="top|left"/> And here is my main.xml <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:orientation="vertical" android:textColor="#ffffff" android:background="#000080" android:isScrollContainer="true" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:scrollbarStyle="insideOverlay"> <ListView xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@android:id/list" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:clickable="true" android:dividerHeight="1px"/> </LinearLayout>
