  • Excel 2007: Filtering out rows in a table based on a list

    I have a large table that looks like this: ID String 1 abcde 2 defgh 3 defgh 4 defgh 5 ijkl 6 ijkl 7 mnop 8 qrst I want to selectivley hide rows by populating a list of filterd values. For example, I'd like to filter out (hide) all rows that contain 'ef', 'kl', and 'qr'. Is there an easy way to do this? I know how to use Advanced filters to include only the rows that contain those substrings, but not the inverse. Has anyone does this before?

  • Computer won't reboot without waiting for a while

    I've got an unusual problem with my computer. When ever I reboot my computer it won't boot, I get a few beeps from the BIOS and nothing else, however if I wait for a few minuets the computer will boot perfectly. I tried to count the beeps and I get around 7-9 of them; the first two are noticeably closer together than the rest. [Edit: I'm now reasonably confident it's 1 long followed by 8 short beeps.   • Servers/Websites Keep Going Down

    Okay, I'm a noobie. I know how to build and compose a website, but I have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to servers and server commands, etc. I've recently had a problem with all of my sites on our servers going down all at once and then I have to go in and reboot the server for them to come up again. At first this was annoying, but now it is becoming agonizing as it now takes 3-4 reboots for the websites to come back up. I contacted support for my hosting, but they are not being very helpful. They just keep telling me what the issue might be and basically telling me that I'm going to have to look into it and figure it out, which really isn't possible since I know nothing. Anyway, here are the things they said were possible reasons: They said I have "strange logs" in my Apache webserver log, error: sh: fetch: command not found. My php.ini memory limit is: 256M which is very high. It should be 32M or 64M. Server is reaching Max Clients, meaning we have more than 150 visitors at a time. (They supposedly "fixed" this, but the sites/server are still going down) I have some Wordpress sites with plugins getting errors like: PHP Warning: pack(): Type H: illegal hex digit G in... PHP Fatal error: Cannot use object of type stdClass as array in... PHP Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in... PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined function file_exists() in... PHP Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '<' I know that's a lot, but I really am at wits end and have no idea what to do now. If anyone could maybe give me some advice or point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks!     I removed Google Chrome 10.x dev version, and installed 8.x stable version again. After installing 8.x, chrome always shows this message box, every time it starts. Your profile can not be used because it is from a newer version of Google Chrome. Some features may be unavailable. Please specify a different profile directory or use a newer version of Chrome. What profile does it say. How to fix it? Thanks.

Because it's hosted on Windows, and we have some large files in the repository, we have to use the Serf HTTP library instead of neon. This is normally specified by manually editing the Subversion "servers" file on the client machine and adding the line http-library=serf Is there a way I can customize the TortoiseSVN installer to do this automatically? I'm just trying to get it up and running as easy as possible for our new SVN users.

  • How to reliably run a batch job every 5 seconds?

    I'm building an application where the sending of all notifications (email, SMS, fax) will be asynchronous. The application will write the notifications to the database, and a batch job will read these notifications and send them with the appropriate transport. I was first reading at ways to run cron faster than the minute, and realized this was a bad idea. The batch scripts are written in PHP, and I guess that writing a proper daemon would be quite an overhead (though I'm open to any suggestion, as PHP car run indefinitely as well). What I have in mind is a solution that would: Run the PHP script every 5 seconds Check that the previous run has finished, or abort (never 2 concurrent batches running) Kill the script if live for more than x minutes (a security in case it hangs) Start with the system (if a reboot occurs) Any idea how to do this?

  • How to copy/paste LARGE amounts of text in Windows

    I am not sure if this is more suited for Superuser or Stackoverflow, but here goes... A little bit of background: I'm learning SQL and was trying to make a very large table which I could use for optimization tests. Something generic with random values. I created a little Java program to do just that, and was able to put out a text file with 100,000 lines, each line being an SQL INSERT statement for a new random record. However, with anything much bigger than 100,000 lines, I had problems either opening/using the text file in any text editor, or copying/pasting the text to the windows clipboard and then into SQL Developer so I could execute it as a script. I'm probably overlooking something really obvious, or doing something really stupid. There has got to be a better way to do this, but I couldn't find anything through Google or Stackoverflow or Superuser. Thanks!

It has very important information in it and of course, it is gone because of the stupid Windows Update thing....it just automatically closed all of my stuff and restarted my computer!! Would the text file possibly be in the Temp folder in my computer?? I don't know much about this stuff...but I need it.   • Issue with SSH on Ubuntu - Local connection ok, remote connection - Is it me or my ISP?

    I have an issue with a server running Ubuntu 12.04, I am trying to set up a remote connection so I can access the server at my work from out of town. I have installed the SSH server and all that stuff, and I have reassigned the default port from 22 to 3399. A local connection from any OS can connect on the 192.168... address, but in no way can I get a connection on the actual IP address. I believe my configuration is correct, and I will attach it. If I have done something wrong in the config, please tell me and I will make a change to it. I honestly think that the Router that my ISP provided is horrible, and although the port for ssh is forwarded, it might be stopping any traffic coming inbound. Is there anything I can try to verify this? /var/log/auth does not show any error when I connect VIA our static IP.   • Failover NIC with Windows 7 running Apache Server

    I have a Apache Server running on a Windows 7 Desktop for a internal website (Intranet). I am trying to figure out how I can make this system as failover safe as possible. One thing I want to do is use the 2nd NIC card that is currently disable. I only have one gateway address to my router. I do not have any computer running a Server O/S. If NIC1 crashes by chance(just humor me!), how could NIC2's IP take on the host name (I have mapped in host file) . I don't really care if the static IP of NIC2 changes seeing that the host name is the only thing I need. Could I add two IP's to the host file, with same host email and maybe create some script that will run IF NIC 1 fails? OR is there any failover software that will do this for me?

  • Multiple redirects / rewrites within one VirtualHost group

    Hi, I have a client that now wants to point a couple of dozen urls to their main site. I have added them as serveralias's in the sites apache config file... so now all of these urls point to the primary one... excellent. The problem i have is that if ANY of these alias's are accessed at the root (i.e. www.domain.com rather than www.domain.com/some-page/) then i need to redirect them to a specific page within the site (i.e. anyone accessing domain.com might need to be sent to domain.com/special-landing-page/). However, any visit to anything other than the landing page should just continue as normal without any re-directs. I've been battling with this for a few hours and can't seem to find the best solution. Does anyone have any suggestions?

    My department creates a shared calendar for everyone to enter their out-of-office times. This requires duplicate entry for those of us who keep all our info in our own Exchange calendar. Is there a way in Exchange to create a View that's simply a combination view of multiple users' calendars? For example, we would create a view with all the departments' users calendars combined, but only those marked "out of office". Ideally, the subject line would also include the user's name, but this would not be 100% necessary.

    I'm really struggling with this. I'm trying to set up this server to send mail using Gmail's SMTP. Google keeps bouncing the messages, saying that that Authentication is required: smtp.gmail.com[74.125.196.109]:25: 530-5.5.1 Authentication Required.   • Exchange Full Access issue

    I was just hired as a System Admin for a small company. They use Exchange 2010 for their Mail Server. I've never had a permission issue like this with Exchange because I worked for a larger firm with less responsibility before. Their old system admin is LONG GONE, so I can't ask him what he did. The issue: Right now ANYONE can gain access to a mailbox and view the mail in the mailbox. This is disabled by default you say and you have to grant them full access ? You are right, but the old System Admin I guess didn't know what he was doing. SO right now user A can open up user B mailbox with out being granted permission. So here is what I found out. Every user in EMC Full Access Permission has Exchange Server group granted. Within the Exchange Server Group, Domain User's is a Member Of. Within Domain User's all user's are listed as Members. So my guess is because of this all users can access ANY mailbox? Well GOOD News. The company is small (35 people) and they are not computer savvy, so hopefully no one has figured out they can open anyone's mailbox.(From what I can tell no). Next thing I did was with my domain user in EMC, delete Exchange Servers Group in FUll Access Permissions and grant access to my user. I made sure that my memeber was apart of the Exchange Server Group. Went to our OWA site and now I don't have permission to my own mailbox. Re did everything to the way it was with my user and now I'm stuck. Any help? I would think granting a single user that is in the Exchange Server group, Full Access to that mailbox would enable them to open that mailbox???? I guess I am wrong.

  • EC2 Instance of Wordpress not mapping URLs correctly

    I'm using an AWS EC2 micro instance to run a wordpress blog. I've successfully mapped a subdomain to the Elastic IP for the micro instance. After a few minor changes, the URL I mapped to the Elastic IP (blog.example.com) opens up the wordpress home page but whenever I click on any of the wordpress links the domain changes to the AWS public DNS for that instance (http://ec2-123-45-678-910.compute-1.amazonaws.com/wordpress/). How do I fix the URLs so that they all follow the subdomain I have setup?
