  • sudo in Debian squeeze inside linux-vserver always wants password

    - by mark
    Every since I upgraded all my linux-vserver Debian guests from Lenny to Squeeze I've the apparent problem that whenever I want to use sudo it asks me for my password. Every time. I've configured sudo to have a timeout of 30 minutes: Defaults timestamp_timeout=30 . This has been configured when it was still Lenny (note: as suggested by EightBitTony I've also tried without this setting - no change). I've a hard time figuring out what the problem here is, since I think my configuration is right. I thought about it being a problem with the file used to record the timestamp, maybe a permission issue, but was unlucky to find any hard evidence. I've compared the contents of /var/lib/sudo/ between a working and a non-working system but couldn't spot any difference. The version of sudo used in both environments is 1.7.4p4-2.squeeze.3. My non-working system(s): find /var/lib/sudo/ -ls 17319289 4 drwx------ 4 root root 4096 Jan 1 1985 /var/lib/sudo/ 17319286 4 drwx------ 2 root mark 4096 Jan 1 1985 /var/lib/sudo/mark 17319312 4 -rw------- 1 root mark 40 Jan 1 1985 /var/lib/sudo/mark/6 17319361 4 -rw------- 1 root mark 40 Jan 1 1985 /var/lib/sudo/mark/9 17319490 4 -rw------- 1 root mark 40 Jan 1 1985 /var/lib/sudo/mark/10 17319326 4 -rw------- 1 root mark 40 Jan 1 1985 /var/lib/sudo/mark/4 17319491 4 -rw------- 1 root mark 40 Jan 1 1985 /var/lib/sudo/mark/2 A working system: find /var/lib/sudo -ls 2598921 4 drwx------ 5 root root 4096 Jan 1 1985 /var/lib/sudo 1999522 4 drwx------ 2 root mark 4096 Jan 1 1985 /var/lib/sudo/mark 2000781 4 -rw------- 1 root mark 40 Jan 1 1985 /var/lib/sudo/mark/8 1998998 4 -rw------- 1 root mark 40 Jan 1 1985 /var/lib/sudo/mark/17 1999459 4 -rw------- 1 root mark 40 Jan 1 1985 /var/lib/sudo/mark/26 1998930 4 -rw------- 1 root mark 40 Jan 1 1985 /var/lib/sudo/mark/24 2000771 4 -rw------- 1 root mark 40 Jun 25 11:39 /var/lib/sudo/mark/4 2000773 4 -rw------- 1 root mark 40 Jan 1 1985 /var/lib/sudo/mark/5 1999223 4 -rw------- 1 root mark 40 Jan 1 1985 /var/lib/sudo/mark/0 1998908 4 -rw------- 1 root mark 40 Jan 1 1985 /var/lib/sudo/mark/14 2000769 4 -rw------- 1 root mark 40 Jul 9 13:30 /var/lib/sudo/mark/2 2000770 4 -rw------- 1 root mark 40 Jan 1 1985 /var/lib/sudo/mark/3 2000782 4 -rw------- 1 root mark 40 Jan 1 1985 /var/lib/sudo/mark/9 2000778 4 -rw------- 1 root mark 40 Jul 8 00:11 /var/lib/sudo/mark/7 1998892 4 -rw------- 1 root mark 40 Jan 1 1985 /var/lib/sudo/mark/19 1999264 4 -rw------- 1 root mark 40 Jan 1 1985 /var/lib/sudo/mark/23 2000789 4 -rw------- 1 root mark 40 Jan 1 1985 /var/lib/sudo/mark/12 1999093 4 -rw------- 1 root mark 40 Jan 1 1985 /var/lib/sudo/mark/25 1998880 4 -rw------- 1 root mark 40 Jan 1 1985 /var/lib/sudo/mark/18 1998853 4 -rw------- 1 root mark 40 Jan 1 1985 /var/lib/sudo/mark/20 2000790 4 -rw------- 1 root mark 40 Jan 1 1985 /var/lib/sudo/mark/15 1998878 4 -rw------- 1 root mark 40 Jan 1 1985 /var/lib/sudo/mark/16 1998874 4 -rw------- 1 root mark 40 Jan 1 1985 /var/lib/sudo/mark/13 2000774 4 -rw------- 1 root mark 40 Jan 1 1985 /var/lib/sudo/mark/6 2000786 4 -rw------- 1 root mark 40 Jan 1 1985 /var/lib/sudo/mark/11 1998893 4 -rw------- 1 root mark 40 Jan 1 1985 /var/lib/sudo/mark/22 2000783 4 -rw------- 1 root mark 40 Jan 1 1985 /var/lib/sudo/mark/10 1998949 4 -rw------- 1 root mark 40 Jan 1 1985 /var/lib/sudo/mark/1 Despite the obvious (some up2date timestamps on the working system) I don't see anything wrong here, so it could be as well be a wrong track. • Get to Know a Candidate (9 of 25): Gary Johnson–Libertarian Party

    - by Brian Lanham
DISCLAIMER: This is not a post about “Romney” or “Obama”. This is not a post for whom I am voting. Information sourced for Wikipedia. Johnson served as the 29th Governor of New Mexico from 1995 to 2003, as a member of the Republican Party, and is known for his low-tax libertarian views and his strong emphasis on personal health and fitness. While a student at the University of New Mexico in 1974, Johnson sustained himself financially by working as a door-to-door handyman. In 1976 he founded Big J Enterprises, which grew from this one-person venture to become one of New Mexico's largest construction companies. He entered politics for the first time by running for Governor of New Mexico in 1994 on a fiscally conservative, low-tax, anti-crime platform. Johnson won the Republican Party of New Mexico's gubernatorial nomination, and defeated incumbent Democratic governor Bruce King by 50% to 40%. He cut the 10% annual growth in the budget: in part, due to his use of the gubernatorial veto 200 times during his first six months in office, which gained him the nickname "Governor Veto". Johnson sought re-election in 1998, winning by 55% to 45%. In his second term, he concentrated on the issue of school voucher reforms, as well as campaigning for marijuana decriminalization and opposition to the War on Drugs. During his tenure as governor, Johnson adhered to a stringent anti-tax and anti-bureaucracy policy driven by a cost–benefit analysis rationale, setting state and national records for his use of veto powers: more than the other 49 contemporary governors put together. Term-limited, Johnson could not run for re-election at the end of his second term. As a fitness enthusiast, Johnson has taken part in several Ironman Triathlons, and he climbed Mount Everest in May 2003. After leaving office, Johnson founded the non-profit Our America Initiative in 2009, a political advocacy committee seeking to promote policies such as free enterprise, foreign non-interventionism, limited government and privatization. The Libertarian Party is the third largest political party in the United States. It is also identified by many as the fastest growing political party in the United States. The political platform of the Libertarian Party reflects the ideas of libertarianism, favoring minimally regulated markets, a less powerful state, strong civil liberties (including support for Same-sex marriage and other LGBT rights), cannabis legalization and regulation, separation of church and state, open immigration, non-interventionism and neutrality in diplomatic relations (i.e., avoiding foreign military or economic entanglements with other nations), freedom of trade and travel to all foreign countries, and a more responsive and direct democracy. Members of the Libertarian Party have also supported the repeal of NAFTA, CAFTA, and similar trade agreements, as well as the United States' exit from the United Nations, WTO, and NATO. Although there is not an officially labeled political position of the party, it is considered by many to be more right-wing than the Democratic Party but more left-wing than the Republican Party when comparing the parties' positions to each other, placing it at or above the center. In the 30 states where voters can register by party, there are over 282,000 voters registered as Libertarians. Hundreds of Libertarian candidates have been elected or appointed to public office, and thousands have run for office under the Libertarian banner. The Libertarian Party has many firsts in its credit, such as being the first party to get an electoral vote for a woman in a United States presidential election. • Mark Messages As Read in the Outlook 2010 Reading Pane

    - by Matthew Guay
Do you ever feel annoyed that Outlook 2010 doesn’t mark messages as Read as soon as you click and view them in the Reading Pane?  Here we show you how to make Outlook mark them as read as soon as they’re opened. Mark as Read By default, Outlook will not mark a message as read until you select another message.  This can be annoying, because if you read a message and immediately click Delete, it will show up as an unread message in our Deleted Items folder. Let’s change this to make Outlook mark messages as read as soon as we view them in the Reading Pane.  Open Outlook and click File to open Backstage View, and select Options. In Options select Mail on the left menu, and under Outlook panes click on the Reading Pane button. Check the box Mark items as read when viewed in the Reading Pane to make Outlook mark your messages as read when you view them in the Reading Pane.  By default, Outlook will only mark a message read after you’ve been reading it for 5 seconds, though you can change this.  We set it to 0 seconds so our messages would be marked as read as soon as we select them. Click OK in both dialogs, and now your messages will be marked as read as soon as you select them in the reading pane, or soon after, depending on your settings. Conclusion Outlook 2010 is a great email client, but like most programs it has its quirks.  This quick tip can help you get rid of one of Outlook’s annoying features, and make it work like you want it to. And, if you’re still using Outlook 2007, check out our article on how to Mark Messages as Read When Viewed in Outlook 2007. • DNN: Registered Mark changing to Question Mark

    - by coultertech
I am having a problem with registered marks in the HTML module.  We need to use the Registered Trademark symbol (®) but some of them are being changed to question marks.  I can find no ryme or reason behind which change and which remain correct.  I have tried a number of things to fix this issue including the following: Using ® and ® using ® copy and paste of ® in both source and non source and using the "insert special character" from the RTE menu Some of the symbols remain but most revert back to question marks.  If i'm in edit mode, the questions marks change back to the registered mark.  Also sometimes the first time viewing the page not logged in or in view mode, they will look fine. But as soon as I got to edit mode or a new page then go back, they change back to question marks.  I am out of idea as to why this is happening. You can see the page at: http://fasttracsc.twif.net/AboutFastTracSC.aspx  Anywhere you see Fasttrac? it should be Fasttrac® Any help anyone can provide would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    - by anon-user0
I have an unmanaged linux vps Ubuntu 11.10 (Oneiric Ocelot). I have LNMP installed. Also php-fpm php-apc, varnish, memcache. I have (or rather had) several live sites on it. under normal load the server uses ~700 mb memory. But since last night its using only 20mb~ memory and a lot of the services seems to be down (according to htop) I only see nginx working and mysql starts up and goes does every few minutes on a loop. • ActiveX Content in a local web page, and "the mark of the web"

    - by Daniel Magliola
Hi, I'm trying to make a webpage that people will run from their hard drives, locally, and this page will show a .wmv video (which is also stored locally), using Windows Media Player When I run this, IE shows me the "ActiveX Warning" bar at the top, which is what i'm trying to work around. If I load this from a web server, it loads fine, but from the local disk, it won't. Now, apparently, MS has added the Mark of the Web thingy precisely to work around this problem, however, I've been trying for a while to make it work, and it just didn't. I still get the warning bar. Is the Mark of the Web supposed to still work? Or this is some kind of deprecated thing? Am I doing anything wrong? I'm supposedly following all instructions, it looks like: and I've tried placing it before DOCTYPE, between DOCTYPE and <HTML>, right after <HTML>, in the <HEAD> of the document, etc. Nothing seems to work. I've tried this in IE7 and IE8 Any ideas will be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!!

  • HTML: Creating tool in HTML which enables to mark on an image

    - by A.Amidi
I am creating an online survey-monkey for conducting a research. Participants are asked to mark the preferred places for building the parking on the map (image). In other words, participants should be able to mark on the image (map) wherever they want and subsequently I could have an access to the saved locations after survey. I am writing to know how I can provide tools for participants to draw or mark on the map by using HTML codes.

  • "Oracle Fusion Is Worth Your Consideration," States Mark Smith of Ventana Research

    - by Richard Lefebvre
After attending OOW 2012, Mark Smith of Ventana Research has written a great blog post on Oct 4th, 2012 titled "Oracle Fusion for CRM and HCM Ready with a Mobile Tap." In this blog post, Mark goes on to say: "It was a great opportunity to get close to the Oracle Fusion Applications, which the company presented as proven and ready, with customers using them on-premises and in private and public cloud computing usage methods. In keynotes from executives Larry Ellison, Mark Hurd and Thomas Kurian and application-focused sessions with executives Steve Miranda and Chris Leone, Oracle repeated the message that Fusion Applications are not just for cloud computing and web services but are also accessible through mobile technology called Oracle Fusion Tap that operates natively on the Apple iPad. The company left no confusion about its applications' readiness for cloud and mobile computing, and provided insight into future advancements." Mark also states: " After two days of Oracle and customer sessions, along with a visit to the demonstration stands in the exposition area, it was clear that Oracle has made an important change in its approach to the market and its executive-level commitment to Fusion Applications. I saw more dialogue with partners to complement its applications, and many announcements, including Oracle's on partners in Fusion CRM, who were also visible during presentations and demonstrations." In closing, Mark makes the following proclamation: "Oracle Fusion is worth your consideration whether you are considering a move to cloud computing or still run applications on-premises or use a hybrid approach which provides more choices to customers than just a cloud computing only approach. We are now in a renaissance of business driving what it needs from business applications, and vendors that convince business they can be trusted will be at the center of a new world of cloud, mobile and social computing." This post is really worth a read. You can find the entire post here.

  • Different routing rules for a particular user using firewall mark and ip rule

    - by Paul Crowley
Running Ubuntu 12.10 on amd64. I'm trying to set up different routing rules for a particular user. I understand that the right way to do this is to create a firewall rule that marks the packets for that user, and add a routing rule for that mark. Just to get testing going, I've added a rule that discards all packets as unreachable: # ip rule 0: from all lookup local 32765: from all fwmark 0x1 unreachable 32766: from all lookup main 32767: from all lookup default With this rule in place and all firewall chains in all tables empty and policy ACCEPT, I can still ping remote hosts just fine as any user. If I then add a rule to mark all packets and try to ping Google, it fails as expected # iptables -t mangle -F OUTPUT # iptables -t mangle -A OUTPUT -j MARK --set-mark 0x01 # ping www.google.com ping: unknown host www.google.com If I restrict this rule to the VPN user, it seems to have no effect. # iptables -t mangle -F OUTPUT # iptables -t mangle -A OUTPUT -j MARK --set-mark 0x01 -m owner --uid-owner vpn # sudo -u vpn ping www.google.com PING www.google.com (173.194.78.103) 56(84) bytes of data. 64 bytes from wg-in-f103.1e100.net (173.194.78.103): icmp_req=1 ttl=50 time=36.6 ms But it appears that the mark is being set, because if I add a rule to drop these packets in the firewall, it works: # iptables -t mangle -A OUTPUT -j DROP -m mark --mark 0x01 # sudo -u vpn ping www.google.com ping: unknown host www.google.com What am I missing? Thanks!

  • Load balancing with multiple gateways

    - by ttouch
I have to different ISPs, each on each own network. The main connects via ethernet and the secondary via wifi. The two networks have no relation at all. I just connect to them simultaneously. The reason I want to load balance between them is to achieve higher Internet speeds. Note: I have no advanced network hardware. Just my pc and the two routers that I have no access... main network: if: eth0 gw: 192.168.178.1 my ip: 192.168.178.95 speed: 400 kbit/s secondary network: if: wlan0 gw: 192.168.1.1 my ip: 192.168.1.95 speed: 300 kbit/s A diagram to explain the situation: http://i.imgur.com/NZdsv.jpg I'm on Arch Linux x64. • Mark Hurd Believes HR is the Next Major Revenue Driver: Read His Latest LinkedIn Influencer Blog

    - by kristin.jellison
“Most CEOs realize they need to make some dramatic changes in how they recruit people, align and manage performance, make compensation decisions, and optimize talent,” Oracle President Mark Hurd writes. The key issue, he explains, is that many CEOs aren’t equipping their HR teams with the tools and resources they need to unlock employees’ full value. This oversight is keeping HR organizations walled off from revenue generation and customer engagements—two chief sources of value for a company. So what is a CEO to do, given tightening budgets, a sluggish economy and a rapidly changing workforce? Hurd’s answer: invest in a modern Human Capital Management (HCM) system—one equipped with built-in intelligence and predictive analytics capabilities. To find out more about how to deliver effective HCM transformations, read Mark Hurd’s full article, “How CEOs Can Transform HR into a Revenue Driver” and visit the Oracle HCM Cloud Service site. We also encourage you to log into your LinkedIn account and “Follow” Mark to receive future posts. Share the link to his blog with your networks via Twitter, Facebook and other social media channels. • exclamation mark for sitemaps in webmastertools when resubmited

    - by Jayapal Chandran
Hi, I have three sitemaps submitted to webmastertools. In that one has very few links and was accepted. It showed a green tick. The other two had around 150 links. They had been accepted in think yet webmastertools displays the exclamation mark. I think i saw this already but what confused was my hosting was blocking frequent bots recently by using a firewall and just now they added googles ip range in their witelist. and then my robots and sitemaps were read by webmastertools. But two sitemaps shows exclamation. I hope it is nothing to do with the above problem. What are all the reasons and where can i see the reason for that exclamation mark.? Here is the screen shot.

  • help in the Donalds B. Johnson's algorithm, i cannot understand the pseudo code (PART II)

    - by Pitelk
Hi all , i cannot understand a certain part of the paper published by Donald Johnson about finding cycles (Circuits) in a graph. More specific i cannot understand what is the matrix Ak which is mentioned in the following line of the pseudo code : Ak:=adjacency structure of strong component K with least vertex in subgraph of G induced by {s,s+1,....n}; to make things worse some lines after is mentins " for i in Vk do " without declaring what the Vk is... As far i have understand we have the following: 1) in general, a strong component is a sub-graph of a graph, in which for every node of this sub-graph there is a path to any node of the sub-graph (in other words you can access any node of the sub-graph from any other node of the sub-graph) 2) a sub-graph induced by a list of nodes is a graph containing all these nodes plus all the edges connecting these nodes. in paper the mathematical definition is " F is a subgraph of G induced by W if W is subset of V and F = (W,{u,y)|u,y in W and (u,y) in E)}) where u,y are edges , E is the set of all the edges in the graph, W is a set of nodes. 3)in the code implementation the nodes are named by integer numbers 1 ... n. 4) I suspect that the Vk is the set of nodes of the strong component K. now to the question. Lets say we have a graph G= (V,E) with V = {1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9} which it can be divided into 3 strong components the SC1 = {1,4,7,8} SC2= {2,3,9} SC3 = {5,6} (and their edges) Can anybody give me an example for s =1, s= 2, s= 5 what if going to be the Vk and Ak according to the code? The pseudo code is in my previous question in http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2908575/help-in-the-donalds-b-johnsons-algorithm-i-cannot-understand-the-pseudo-code and the paper can be found at http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2908575/help-in-the-donalds-b-johnsons-algorithm-i-cannot-understand-the-pseudo-code thank you in advance

  • help in the Donalds B. Johnson's algorithm, i cannot understand the pseudo code

    - by Pitelk
Hi , does anyone know the Donald B. Johnson's algorithm which enumarates all the elementary circuits (cycles) in a Directed graph? link text I have the paper he had published in 1975 but I cannot understand the pseudo-code. My goal is to implement this algorithm in java. Some questions i have is for example what is the matrix Ak it refers to. In the pseudo code mentions that Ak:=adjacency structure of strong component K with least vertex in subgraph of G induced by {s,s+1,....n}; Does that mean i have to implement another algorithm that finds the Ak matrix? Another question is what the following means? begin logical f; Does also the line "logical procedure CIRCUIT (integer value v);" means that the circuit procedure returns a logical variable. In the pseudo code also has the line "CIRCUIT := f;" . Does this mean? It would be great if someone could translate this 1970's pseudocode to a more modern type of pseudo code so i can understand it in case you are interested to help but you cannot find the paper please email me at [email protected] and i will send you the paper. Thanks in advance

  • How can I mark a group of changes/changesets in SVN, Hg, or Git

    - by sylvanaar
I would like to mark an arbitrary group of commits/changesets with a label. Commit 1 *Mark 1 Commit 2 *Mark 2 Commit 3 Commit 4 *Mark 1 Commit 5 *Mark 2 The goal is to easily locate all the changes for a specific mark, and to have that grouping persisted in the VCS directly, as opposed to some outside system like a bug tracking system. The location and ordering of the marks needs to be arbitrary, and should be able to work with both committed/uncommitted and pushed/unpushed changes. In SVN the best way I know is to just edit the commit notes and add some sort of special text that you can search for e.g. "**Mark 1". Or just to make a fake edit and commit it and use its commit note to list all the included revisions. Is there a better solution for SVN? Are there equivalent or better solutions for Hg or Git?
