• POSTFIX bouncing when destination is my domain

  I am using provider mail hosting to send emails. On my Webserver I also have Postfix running and configured.   I'm trying to send an email through Google from my localhost. (via PHP5.3) But Google keeps on blocking my requests. I tried to follow the solutions given to a few similar questions, but for some reason they do not work. • frequent errors with subversion repository on fat32 on USB memory stick

  I keep a copy of a Subversion Repository on a USB memory stick that is formatted with FAT32. I am using TortoiseSVN on XP and command line svn 1.6.x on Ubuntu and OSX with this memory stick. I notice that I need to do an svn cleanup just about every time or updates and commits will not work. I routinely have errors with .lock and *.svn/text-base/** files getting corrupted. Errors tend to be parameter is incorrect or lock file can not be read Sometimes svn cleanup works and sometimes chflags -R nouchg * Is there anything I can do to prevent this?

• iOS bluetooth low energy not detecting peripherals

  My app won't detect peripherals. Im using light blue to simulate a bluetooth low energy peripheral and my app just won't sense it. I even installed light blue on two devices to make sure it was generating a peripheral signal properly and it is. Any suggestions? My labels are updating and the NSLog is showing that the scanning is starting. • Websphere MQ using JMS, closed connections stuck on the MQ

  I have a simple JMS application deployed on OC4J under AIX server, in my application I'm listening to some queues and sending to other queues on a Websphere MQ deployed under AS400 server. The problem is that my connections to these queues are terminated/closed when it stays idle for some time with the error MQJMS1016 (this is not the problem), and when that happens I attempt to recover the connection and it works, however, the old connection is stuck at the MQ and would not terminate until it is terminated manually. • Resetting or refreshing a database connection

  This Android application on Google uses the following method to refresh the database after replacing the database file with a backup: public void resetDbConnection() { this.cleanup(); this.db = SQLiteDatabase.openDatabase( "/data/data/com.totsp.bookworm/databases/bookworm.db", null, SQLiteDatabase.OPEN_READWRITE); } I did not build this app, and I am not sure what happens. I am trying to make this idea work in my own application, but the data appears to be cached by the views, and the app continues to show data from the database that was replaced, even after I call cleanup() and reopen the database. I have to terminate and restart the activity in order to see the new data. I tried to call invalidate on my TabHost view, which pretty much contains everything. I thought that the views would redraw and refresh their underlying data, but this did also not have the expected result. I ended up restarting the activity programmatically, which works, but this seems to be a drastic measure. Is there a better way?

When an instance of ABC needs to be cleaned up, I have two options. One I could have a Cleanup() method to unsubscribe from the ANewEvent event or I could implement IDisposable and in the Dispose unwire the event. Now I have no control over whether the consumer will call the dispose method or even the Cleanup method should I go that route. Should I implement a Finaliser and unsubscribe then? It feels dirty but I do not want hanging instances of ABC around. Thoughts?

  Hi, I am trying to figure out certain memory leak conditions in javascript on a few browsers. Currently I'm only testing FF 3.6, Opera 10.10, and Safari 4.0.3. I've started with a fairly simple test, and can confirm no memory leaks in Firefox and Safari. But Opera just takes memory and never gives it back. What gives? No luck. As you can see this is simple JS, no circular DOM links, no closures. I monitor the memory usage using 'top' on Mac 10.4.11. Memory usage spikes up on page load, as expected. In FF and Safari reloading the page does not use any further memory, and all memory is returned when the window (tab) is closed. In Opera, memory spikes on load, and seems to also spike further on each reload (but not always...). But regardless of reload, memory never goes back down below the initial load spike. I had hoped this was a no-brainer test that all browsers would pass, so I could move on to more "interesting" conditions. Am I doing something wrong here? Or is this a known Opera issue? • Stuck at being unable to print a substring no more than 4679 characters

  I have a program that does string manipulation on very large strings (around 100K). The first step in my program is to cleanup the input string so that it only contains certain characters. Here is my method for this cleanup: public static String analyzeString (String input) { String output = null; output = input.replaceAll("[-+.^:,]",""); output = output.replaceAll("(\\r|\\n)", ""); output = output.toUpperCase(); output = output.replaceAll("[^XYZ]", ""); return output; } When i print my 'input' string of length 97498, it prints successfully. My output string after cleanup is of length 94788. I can print the size using output.length() but when I try to print this in Eclipse, output is empty and i can see in eclipse output console header. Since this is not my final program, so I ignored this and proceeded to next method that does pattern matching on this 'cleaned-up' string. Here is code for pattern matching: public static List<Integer> getIntervals(String input, String regex) { List<Integer> output = new ArrayList<Integer> (); // Do pattern matching Pattern p1 = Pattern.compile(regex); Matcher m1 = p1.matcher(input); // If match found while (m1.find()) { output.add(m1.start()); output.add(m1.end()); } return output; } Based on this program, i identify the start and end intervals of my pattern match as 12351 and 87314. I tried to print this match as output.substring(12351, 87314) and only get blank output. Numerous hit and trial runs resulted in the conclusion that biggest substring that i can print is of length 4679. If i try 4680, i again get blank input. My confusion is that if i was able to print original string (97498) length, why i couldnt print the cleaned-up string (length 94788) or the substring (length 4679). Is it due to regular expression implementation which may be causing some memory issues and my system is not able to handle that? I have 4GB installed memory.

• .NET threading: how can I capture an abort on an unstarted thread?

  I have a chunk of threads I wish to run in order, on an ASP site running .NET 2.0 with Visual Studio 2008 (no idea how much all that matters, but there it is), and they may have aborted-clean-up code which should be run regardless of how far through their task they are. So I make a thread like this: Thread t = new Thread(delegate() { try { /* do things */ System.Diagnostics.Debug.WriteLine("try"); } catch (ThreadAbortException) { /* cleanup */ System.Diagnostics.Debug.WriteLine("catch"); } }); Now, if I wish to abort the set of threads part way through, the cleanup may still be desirable later on down the line. Looking through MSDN implies you can .Abort() a thread that has not started, and then .Start() it, at which point it will receive the exception and perform normally. Or you can .Join() the aborted thread to wait for it to finish aborting. Presumably you can combine them. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ty8d3wta(v=VS.80).aspx To wait until a thread has aborted, you can call the Join method on the thread after calling the Abort method, but there is no guarantee the wait will end. If Abort is called on a thread that has not been started, the thread will abort when Start is called. If Abort is called on a thread that is blocked or is sleeping, the thread is interrupted and then aborted. Now, when I debug and step through this code: t.Abort(); // ThreadState == Unstarted | AbortRequested t.Start(); // throws ThreadStartException: "Thread failed to start." // so I comment it out, and t.Join(); // throws ThreadStateException: "Thread has not been started." At no point do I see any output, nor do any breakpoints on either the try or catch block get reached. Oddly, ThreadStartException is not listed as a possible throw of .Start(), from here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/a9fyxz7d(v=VS.80).aspx (or any other version) I understand this could be avoided by having a start parameter, which states if the thread should jump to cleanup code, and foregoing the Abort call (which is probably what I'll do). And I could .Start() the thread, and then .Abort() it. But as an indeterminate amount of time may pass between .Start and .Abort, I'm considering it unreliable, and the documentation seems to say my original method should work. Am I missing something? Is the documentation wrong? edit: ow. And you can't call .Start(param) on a non-parameterized Thread(Start). Is there a way to find out if a thread is parameterized or not, aside from trial and error? I see a private m_Delegate, but nothing public...

• Can I have code that executes before and after tests are run by NUnit?

  I've got a bunch of tests in NUnit which create garbage data on the filesystem (bad, I know, but I have little control over this). Currently we have a cleanup tool that removes these temporaries and such, but I'd like to be able to run that cleanup tool automatically. I'd have to be able to run it after all tests have finished running. I have similar checking that I'd like to do at the beginning, to ensure that there are none of these temporaries left from previous runs that might change the outcome of the tests. Is such a thing simple or am I going to have to implement a whole new test runner for such a thing?

• Python unittest with expensive setup

  My test file is basically: class Test(unittest.TestCase): def testOk(): pass if __name__ == "__main__": expensiveSetup() try: unittest.main() finally: cleanUp() However, I do wish to run my test through Netbeans testing tools, and to do that I need unittests that don't rely on an environment setup done in main. Looking at http://stackoverflow.com/questions/402483/caching-result-of-setup-using-python-unittest - it recommends using Nose. However, I don't think Netbeans supports this. I didn't find any information indicating that it does. Additionally, I am the only one here actually writing tests, so I don't want to introduce additional dependencies for the other 2 developers unless they are needed. How can I do the setup and cleanup once for all the tests in my TestSuite? The expensive setup here is creating some files with dummy data, as well as setting up and tearing down a simple xml-rpc server. I also have 2 test classes, one testing locally and one testing all methods over xml-rpc.

• Why Does TFS Allow Orphaned Content and How Do I Get Rid of It?

  My TfsVersionControl database has grown to 40+ GB in size. We recently did a TFS Destroy on a folder tree that should have cleared up at least 10 GB but instead it seemed to have no effect. When I look at the tables in TfsVersionControl, I am first shocked to see that there are no foreign keys at all in the database. Running a few queries, I see that there is some orphaning going on: tbl_Content has 13.9 GB of records that don't have a related tbl_File record tbl_File and tbl_Content have 2.4 GB that don't have a related tbl_Namespace record The cleanup job seems to be running nightly (prc_DeleteUnusedContent) and running it against the database manually doesn't remove any orphans. I see in the log for the cleanup job that it failed on 3/16, which is the morning after I destroyed the large amount of data. The error was due to a full transaction log. Could that error be the reason I'm left with all this orphaned data that can't be deleted? How can I permanently destroy this unneeded content?
