    I have an acer travelmate laptop that i'm trying to create the recovery dvd(s) for. I am stuck at this screen: This machine doesn't have an optical drive. Sure, I could connect an external one - but ideally I want to store these 3 DVDs as ISO files on my network (as not to create clutter) Is there a way of mapping a "virtual" optical drive, to save the written to contents as ISO?

    I like the looks of Belle Nuit Subtitler, even though the price is a bit high. Does anyone know any other program like it that can add subtitles to a video stream while watching the stream itself? I want this to translate DVD's, in case that matters. I'm willing to purchase it if the program can deliver what i need but would like to see alternatives to Belle Nuit.

    An open-ended question (ie I havn't encountered this yet...) Being in the UK I consider it only a matter of time until I come across the following scenario: Windows 8 Pro N install where the End User wants DVD playback without installing all the Media Player 'add-ins' to enable it. Will just installing codecs and then some playback software work? (ie no huge downloads from Windows Update - consider this user to only want Crtical Updates due to a slow internet connection.)

  • HP ProBook 4540s CD/DVD Drive cannot Read Disks

    I seem to have a problem with the CD/DVD drive on my HP ProBook 4540s laptop. I cannot get it to read any disks. Normally, I would say that this is a hardware issue, but whenever I put a disk that previously could be read in the drive, it starts to make noise like it is trying to to read the disk but cannot and AnyDVD HD seems to be able to retrieve disk information with some struggle. Any ideas on what the problem could be?

After some initial searches all I've come up with is: Roxio Creator - includes DirectCD Nero Suite - includes InCD I'm looking for a functional CD/DVD packet writing software for Windows, without the extra bloat. Do you know of any?

After the excitement of the first boot coming up on my screen, I was looking through the BIOS settings. However, joy soon turned sour, as I looked at the list of installed SATA devices.     I've been sent a DVD which needs to be put onto a website, but I honestly don't even know where to start. Do I simply convert the file using some software to MP4(?!) and then use something like http://videojs.com/ to view it online? I'm really sorry for the vague question, but I want to produce the best quality results, with good compression, good quality and a nice video player interface. Would really appreciate any recommendations. Thank you!

    I have read http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms149953.aspx and need to verify what is my GetLocalResourceObject virtual path. My local resource files are located on my pc at: C:\inetpub\wwwroot\GlobalX\Input\App_LocalResources Within this folder are my resource files for all the languages that site handles (InputContactDetails.aspx.ro.resx, InputContactDetails.aspx.hi.resx, etc.), as well as the default resource file (InputContactDetails.aspx.resx). I am receiving an error when I attempt to implement the virtual path string.   • Windows Live Writer plugin with .NET 4

    Has anyone written a plugin for Windows Live Writer that runs against .NET 4? I've read the .NET 4 introduces side-by-side running, so one part of the app can target .NET x and another part can target .NET 4. I thought WLW would be a good starting point to try this as previously it only supported plugins up to .NET 2. But my .NET 4 plugin never shows. Maybe they test dependencies before loading the plugins? Anyone else got this working?

    Upgraded hard drive in Lenovo T61P; decided to start fresh with Windows 7 Pro. Windows installed, so DVD drive was working. All of a sudden, driver is not recognized. Device is "HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-U10N ATA Device". It appears on device manager but with the yellow tag; have tried uninstalling, searching for drivers, everything I can think of. Cannot even start over with Windows 7 installation disk because disk spins but then stops and My Computer does not recognize the drive. Help please. thank you. David Lacher

  • Disabling the Driver Region on a Mac

    So, this is the first time I try to watch a DVD disc on my (new) Mac and I wonder if I can keep it as fresh-new by not choosing any region and just play discs from anywhere. I understand the media industry made that lock for copyright and whatever, but do I absolutely have to choose a region to be able to play disks, even if I got original ones from different places? Why can I "change region" just 5 times, why even allowing changing? Also, on a side-note, I wonder how to disable the regular DVD Player.

  • Fedora Installation with software repository in DVD does not work

    I bought a new assembled PC with processor as Core-i3(2120) and Intel H61 motherboard and was trying to install Fedora 16 from a DVD. This DVD contains all the packages so that installation does not require to download packages from internet. I have used this DVD to install Fedora 16 offline many a times though in machines with different hardware configuration. But in this new machine when the installation reaches the stage wherein it asks for Software repository selection I select CD/DVD but the system fails to read the media and throws up an error that it cannot detect the media. THe LED in the DVD writer also indicate that the DVD is not being read. Now there is neither a problem with the DVD or the DVD drive because the installation started from the DVD itself. So what could the problem be, anything in the BIOS that is causing the problem, Is there any way I could utilize the packages already existing in the CD so that I save downloading the packages from DVD
