  • Enable Configurator for Return Orders

    With release 12.2.4 for non-referenced RMAs, Order Management will allow you to configure the model from Sales Order / Quick Sales Order windows. This is only allowable when profile  OM: Enable Configuration UI for RMA is set to Yes.  All selected options must be returnable, as well as all included items. Order Management explodes included items and creates options and option classes in a way similar to outbound orders. The application creates all selected components with same line number but different option/component number.  Additionally, the application does not allow re-configuration and/or deletion of any line if any line in the same configuration is received, fulfilled, closed, cancelled, or split.   • What are the techniques to implement evaluation period and ensure it is not tempered?

    I've a simple product installer for windows OS, which could be evaluated for a month. What are the techniques I can use so that this piece of software is not used after a month? I've seen that several s/w use system date to check it but it's very primitive and easily forge-able. I think a key based system based on registry or online verification could be an option but I don't know much about these. Please help.

    Using the ODAC (Oracle Data Access Components) downloaded from Oracle to talk to a handfull of Oracle DBs - Was putting together my DAL to update the DB, and things weren't working as I hoped - UPDATE foo SET bar = :P_BAR WHERE bap = :P_BAP I assign my parameters - objCmd.Parameters.Add(objBap); objCmd.Parameters.Add(objBar);   Execute update command - int result = objCmd.ExecuteNonQuery() and result is zero! ...  Is my filter incorrect? SELECT count(*) FROM foo WHERE bap = :P_BAP ...result is one... Is my new value incorrect?  Am I using Char instead of Varchar somewhere and need an RTRIM?  Is there a transaction getting involved?  An error thrown and not caught? The answer: Order of parameters.   The order parameters are added to the Oracle Command object must match the order the parameters are referenced in the SQL statement.  I was adding the parameters for the WHERE clause before adding the SET value parameters, and for that reason although no error was being thrown, no value was updated either. Flip parameter collection around to match order of params in the SQL statement, and ExecuteNonQuery() is back to returning the number of rows affected.

    I'm doing some tests in a 2010 Information Worker Demonstration and Evaluation Virtual Machine (SP1). However, after a few days (maybe ~180), Office is now saying that it needs to be activated. I've tried rearming with OSPPREARM.EXE, but I get the following error: "The security processor reported that the maximum allowed number of re-arms has been exceeded. You must re-install the OS before trying to re-arm again." How can I circumvent this, without losing all the data I have in the VM?

  • Geometry Shader input vertices order

    MSDN specifies (link) that when using triangleadj type of input to the GS, it should provide me with 6 vertices in specific order: 1st vertex of the triangle processed, vertex of an adjacent triangle, 2nd vertex of the triangle processed, another vertex of an adjacent triangle and so on... So if I wanted to create a pass-through shader (i.e. output the same triangle I got on input and nothing else) I should return vertices 0, 2 and 4. Is that correct? Well, apparently it isn't because I did just that and when I ran my app the vertices were flickering (like changing positions/disappearing/showing again or sth like that). But when I instead output vertices 0, 1 and 2 the app rendered the mesh correctly. I could provide some code but it seems like the problem is in the input vertices order, not the code itself. So what order do input vertices to the GS come in?

  • How Can I Know Whether I Am a Good Programmer?

    Like most people, I think of myself as being a bit above average in my field. I get paid well, I've gotten promotions, and I've never had a real problem getting good references or getting a job. But I've been around enough to notice that many of the worst programmers I've worked with thought they were some of the best. Bad programmers who are surrounded by other bad programmers seem to be the most self-deluded. I'm certainly not perfect. I do make mistakes. I do miss deadlines. But I think I make about the same number of bonehead moves that "other good programmers" do. The problem is that I define "other good programmers" to mean "people who are like me." So, I wonder, is there any way a programmer can make some sort of reasonable self-evaluation? How do we know whether we are good or bad at our jobs? Or, if terms like good and bad are too ill-defined, how can programmers honestly identify their own strengths and weaknesses, so that they can take advantage of the former and work to improve the latter?

    I'm creating a plot and adding a basic loess smooth line to it. qplot(Age.GTS2004., X.d18O,data=deepsea, geom=c('point')) + geom_smooth(method="loess",se=T,span=0.01, alpha=.5, fill='light blue',color='navy') The problem is that the line is coming out really choppy. I need more evaluation point for the curve in certain areas. Is there a way to increase the number of evaluation points without having to reconstruct geom_smooth?

    I need to retrieve all records ordered alphabetically. Except for a predefined list of record's columns which their records should appear first in a given predefined order, then all other records should be sorted alphabetically based on the same column For instance, assume we have the following table which is called Names Lets assume the predefined list is ("Mathew", "Ashraf", "Jack"). I.e. these are the names of whom their records should be listed first as in the predefined order. So the desired query result should be: Which query could retrieve this custom order ? P.S, I'm using MySQL. Here's my trial based on comments' request: (SELECT * FROM Names WHERE Name in ('Mathew', 'Ashraf', 'Jack')) UNION (SELECT * FROM Names WHERE Name NOT IN ('Mathew', 'Ashraf', 'Jack') ORDER BY Name ASC); the first query result wasn't ordered as required.

  • Event Driven Behavior Tree: deterministic traversal order with parallel

    I've studied several articles and listen some talks about behavior trees (mostly the resources available on AIGameDev by Alex J. Champandard). I'm particularly interested on event driven behavior trees, but I have still some doubts on how to implement them correctly using a scheduler. Just a quick recap: Standard Behavior Tree Each execution tick the tree is traversed from the root in depth-first order The execution order is implicitly expressed by the tree structure. So in the case of behaviors parented to a parallel node, even if both children are executed during the same traversing, the first leaf is always evaluated first. Event Driven BT During the first traversal the nodes (tasks) are enqueued using a scheduler which is responsible for updating only running ones every update The first traversal implicitly produce a depth-first ordered queue in the scheduler Non leaf nodes stays suspended mostly of the time. When a leaf node terminate(either with success or fail status) the parent (observer) is waked up allowing the tree traversing to continue and new tasks will be enqueued in the scheduler Without parallel nodes in the tree there will be up to 1 task running in the scheduler Without parallel nodes, the tasks in the queue(excluding dynamic priority implementation) will be always ordered in a depth-first order (is this right?) Now, from what is my understanding of a possible implementation, there are 2 requirements I think must be respected(I'm not sure though): Now, some requirements I think needs to be guaranteed by a correct implementation are: The result of the traversing should be independent from which implementation strategy is used. The traversing result must be deterministic. I'm struggling trying to guarantee both in the case of parallel nodes. Here's an example: Parallel_1 -->Sequence_1 ---->leaf_A ---->leaf_B -->leaf_C Considering a FIFO policy of the scheduler, before leaf_A node terminates the tasks in the scheduler are: P1(suspended),S1(suspended),leaf_A(running),leaf_C(running) When leaf_A terminate leaf_B will be scheduled (at the end of the queue), so the queue will become: P1(suspended),S1(suspended),leaf_C(running),leaf_B(running) In this case leaf_B will be executed after leaf_C at every update, meanwhile with a non event-driven traversing from the root node, the leaf_B will always be evaluated before leaf_A. So I have a couple of question: do I have understand correctly how event driven BT work? How can I guarantee the depth first order is respected with such an implementation? is this a common issue or am I missing something?

    Do you need to build a demo for a customer? Why not to use Fusion Order Demo (FOD) and modify it to do some extra things. Great idea, let me install it on one of my Linux servers I said "Turns out there are a few gotchas, so here is how I installed it on a Linux server with JDeveloper on my Windows desktop." Task 1: Install Oracle JDeveloper Studio I already had JDeveloper 11.1.1.6 with SOA extensions installed so this was easy. Task 2: Install the Fusion Order Demo Application First thing to do is to obtain the latest version of the demo from OTN, I obtained the R1 PS5 release. Gotcha #1 – my winzip wouldn’t unzip the file, I had to use 7-Zip. Task 3: Install Oracle SOA Suite On the domain modify the setDomainEnv script by adding “-Djps.app.credential.overwrite.allowed=true” to JAVA_PROPERTIES and restarting the Admin Server. Also set the JAVA_HOME variable and add Ant to the path. I created a domain with separate SOA and BAM servers and also set up the Node Manager to make it easier to stop and start components.     I am wondering whether the is a mechanism to manually control the call-order of void Game.LoadContent() as it is the case with void Game.Draw(GameTime gt) by setting int DrawableGameComponent.DrawOrder ? except the order that results from adding components to the Game.Components container and maybe there exists something similar with Game.Update(GameTime gt) ? UPDATE To exemplify my issue consider you have several game components which do depends to each other regarding their instantiation. All are inherited from DrawableGameComponent. Now suppose that in one of these components you are loading a Model from the games content pipeline and add it to some static container in order to provide access to it for other game components. public override LoadContent() { // ... Model m = _contentManager.Load<Model>(@"content/myModel"); // GameComponents is a static class with an accessible list where game components reside. GameComponents.AddCompnent(m); // ... } Now it's easy to imagine that this components load method has to precede other game components that do want to access the model m in their own load method.

  • SQL SERVER – Basic Calculation and PEMDAS Order of Operation

    After thinking a long time, I have decided to write about this blog post. I had no plan to create a blog post about this subject but the amount of conversation this one has created on my Facebook page, I decided to bring up a few of the question and concerns discussed on the Facebook page. There are more than 10,000 comments here so far. There are lots of discussion about what should be the answer. Well, as far as I can tell there is a big debate going on on Facebook, for educational purpose you should go ahead and read some of the comments. They are very interesting and for sure teach some new stuff. Even though some of the comments are clearly wrong they have made some good points and I believe it for sure develops some logic. Here is my take on this subject. I believe the answer is 9 as I follow PEMDAS  Order of Operation. PEMDAS stands for  parentheses, exponents, multiplication, division, addition, subtraction. PEMDAS is commonly known as BODMAS in India. BODMAS stands for Brackets, Orders (ie Powers and Square Roots, etc), Division, Multiplication,  Addition and Subtraction. PEMDAS and BODMAS are almost same and both of them follow the operation order from LEFT to RIGHT. Let us try to simplify above statement using the PEMDAS or BODMAS (whatever you prefer to call). Step 1: 6 ÷ 2 (1+2) (parentheses first) Step 2: = 6 ÷ 2 * (1+2) (adding multiplication sign for further clarification) Step 3: = 6 ÷ 2* (3) (single digit in parentheses – simplify using operator) Step 4: = 6 ÷ 2 * 3 (Remember next Operation should be LEFT to RIGHT) Step 5: = 3 * 3 (because 6 ÷ 2 = 3; remember LEFT to RIGHT) Step 6: = 9 (final answer) Some often find Step 4 confusing and often ended up multiplying 2 and 3 resulting Step 5 to be 6 ÷ 6, this is incorrect because in this case we did not follow the order of LEFT to RIGHT. When we do not follow the order of operation from LEFT to RIGHT we end up with the answer 1 which is incorrect. Let us see what SQL Server returns as a result. I executed following statement in SQL Server Management Studio SELECT 6/2*(1+2) It is clear that SQL Server also thinks that the answer should be 9. Let us go ahead and ask Google what will be the answer of above question in Google I have searched for the following term: 6/2(1+2) The result also says the answer should be 9. If you want a further reference here is a great video which describes why the answer should be 9 and not 1. And here is a fantastic conversation on Google Groups. Well, now what is your take on this subject? You are welcome to share constructive feedback and your answer may be different from my answer.   • Pivot table not refreshing sort order

    I have Pivot Table that get its data source from another sheet, same workbook. I want the sort order of data is same as the data source order, I choose "Sort in data source order" in Pivot Table option. The problem is, when I change the data order on data source worksheet, then I refresh the Pivot Table, the sort order didn't change. I googled that the Pivot Table should be unlink first then re-link again in order to work properly, so I tried the following: The original data source has named range: origdata. The fake data source has names range: dummydata I changed manually data source to dummydata then changed back to origdata. The sort order did change as expected. Now I want to make the operation automated, so I'm using this code in Worksheet.activate event. Note that, PT is PivotTable instance. ... PT.SourceData = "dummydata" PT.RefreshTable PT.SourceData = "origdata" PT.RefreshTable ... Change data source from VBA didn't change the sort order just like I did with manual method. Why is that? Am I missing something? Maybe there are some routine called when I changed the data source manually via toolbar button? Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Software rendering 3d triangles in the proper order

    I'm implementing a basic 3d rendering engine in software (for education purposes, please don't mention to use an API). When I project a triangle from 3d to 2d coordinates, I draw the triangle. However, it's in a random order and so whatever gets drawn last draws on top of all other triangles (which might be in front of triangles it shouldn't be in front of)... Intuitively, seems I need to draw the triangles in the correct order. So I can calculate all their distances to the camera and sort by that. The objects furthest away get drawn last. Is this the proper way to render triangles? If I'm sorting all the objects, this is n*log(n) now. Is this the most efficient way to do this?
