  • How to stop Outlook 2010 from registering itself as the default email client over and over again?

    - by Tobias Kienzler
I'm usually using Thunderbird, but for testing purposes have to start Outlook every now and then. Afterwards, Thunderbird informs me that it is no longer the default client, which it should have remained. How to stop Outlook 2010 from being so insolent? edit In fact, Outlook does not change any of the settings I checked so far (it doesn't re-register files, and mailto: links still open Thunderbird, so I'm rather confused at what Thunderbird considers to be modified by Outlook

  • Outlook 2007 - Right Click Email > Move To {Folder Name}

    - by HK1
I know it seems like an elementary question. What's the simplest and fastest way to move a read/completed email to a different folder in Outlook 2007 (connected to Exchange 2007)? I have a particular user that is challenged by technology. Using keyboard shortcuts is not an option. Dragging and dropping things - forget it. And too many clicks is frustrating to him. He keeps his email inbox completely clean (OCD=True) but he does that by deleting every single email as quickly as he's done with it. If an email can't be resolved in a day or two it almost drives him to insanity. As far as he's concerned, there's only one right thing to do with an email - reply to it and then delete it. He's being asked to save emails unless they are clearly trash. I'm trying to figure out what the simplest method is to move an email to a "Saved Emails" or "Archived" folder (don't confuse "folder" with .PST file, that's irrelevant for this discussion). I envisioned that I could possibly hi-jack every delete and put the email in his Saved folder. But I don't like this option because some emails are truly trash and I don't want him saving those. What I'd really like to do is something like this: Right Click Email in List > Move To {Folder Name} Is there a simple way to do this? Maybe someone has another suggestion on how to handle this situation.

  • Error when starting Outlook 2007 on Windows 7

    - by Jared
Every time I start Outlook 2007 SP2 on my Windows 7 box Outlook will look like its loading fine, then I get this error message: cannot start microsoft office outlook. cannot open the outlook window and outlook will close. I was able to get outlook to start by using outlook.exe /resetnavpane in the Start-Search box, a nice tip which I got from this social.microsoft.com page. But it didn't fix the problem since outlook is still complaining when it starts after a reboot. What can I do to get outlook to startup normally?

  • Use Excel VBA to fill out and submit Google Docs form

    - by guitarthrower
I'm trying to do something like this post but with Excel VBA. I would like to submit a response on a google docs form each time a button is pressed on an Excel add-in. The addin will be an XLA file and written in VBA. I want to be able to collect what features the users are using. If someone has a better solution, I'm open. ---Edit--- This is the form I am trying to write to (excerpt of the code for one of the fields.) <div class="errorbox-good"> <div class="ss-item ss-item-required ss-text"> <div class="ss-form-entry"> <label for="entry_0" class="ss-q-title"> UserName <span class="ss-required-asterisk">*</span> </label> <label for="entry_0" class="ss-q-help"></label> <input type="text" id="entry_0" class="ss-q-short" value="" name="entry.0.single"> </div> </div> </div>

  • Iterating XML nodes using VBA

    - by ydobonmai
Note:- It just might be a iterating XML nodes using VBA question. Please look at the bottom of this question. It would be good If we can iterate without using MSXML2.DOMDocument I see the this question which answers part of my question on how to retrieve the CustomXMLPart. However, I am not able to iterate through the Xml. That way, this might not be specific to CustomXmlPart, It just might be a iterating XML using VBA question. Following is the XML I have in my CustomXMLPart. <Items> <Item1>Item1</Item1> <Item2>Item2</Item2> <Item3>Item3</Item3> </Items> This is how I add the above XML as CustomXmlPart:- static void AddCustomTableXmlPart(WordprocessingDocument document) { MainDocumentPart mainDocumentPart = document.MainDocumentPart; XDocument itemXml = GetItemsAsCustomXML(); if (mainDocumentPart.GetPartsCountOfType<CustomXmlPart>() > 0) mainDocumentPart.DeleteParts<CustomXmlPart>(mainDocumentPart.CustomXmlParts); //Add a new customXML part and then add content var customXmlPart = mainDocumentPart.AddCustomXmlPart(CustomXmlPartType.CustomXml); //copy the XML into the new part... using (var ts = new StreamWriter(customXmlPart.GetStream())) { ts.Write(itemXml.ToString()); ts.Flush(); } } and this is how I am accessing it in the macro:- Dim itemNode As xmlNode Dim itemChildren As XMLNodes ' The below line throws a run-time error 'Run-time error '13' - 'type mismatch ' not sure why. **Set itemChildren= ActiveDocument.CustomXMLParts(ActiveDocument.CustomXMLParts.Count).SelectSingleNode("//Items").ChildNodes** Interestingly, when I quick watch ActiveDocument.CustomXMLParts(ActiveDocument.CustomXMLParts.Count).SelectSingleNode("//Items").ChildNodes, I see child items in the quick watch window. Is the assignment to the itemChildren variable incorrect? I want to iterate through all the items and get get text for all of them. Could anybody help?

  • Outlook 2010 Populating a Text Box

    - by Turkwise
all! I'll try to be as detailed as possible in describing my predicament. I have a little background knowledge in Visual Basic, but none really in VBA or VBscript in Outlook 2010. I'm working with Outlook 2010. I created a custom form (this is my first time). I have a combo box named ComboBox1 and a text box named TextBox1. I am trying to auto-populate TextBox1 with a number based on the selection made from ComboBox1 (ex. I select Value 1 from ComboBox1 and TextBox1 populates with 124). I made an attempt using this code in the Visual Basic Editor (VBA version 7.0): Sub popBox() If ComboBox1 = "Value 1" Then TextBox1 = "124" End If End Sub My question is what am I doing wrong? Should I be using the VBscript editor, or is using VBA the proper thing to do? Is what I am asking even possible? Thank you all in advance!

  • Show multiple calendars in overlay view by default

    - by Kyle Strand
In MS Outlook 2007/2010, it's possible to show multiple calendars overlayed on each other (a la Google Calendar; see http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/help/view-calendars-side-by-side-or-overlaid-HA001230157.aspx#BM4). However, it appears that in order to do this, you must first open the calendars side-by-side and then press the little left-arrow button to "combine" them into an overlaid view. Is there a way to make "overlaid" the default view for multiple calendars (again, a la Google Calendar)?

  • Outlook VBA - Find & Replace Incoming Emails

    - by user1912198
Good morning everyone at Stackoverflow, I am trying to find a VBA script that finds and replaces a certain text in incoming e-mails. So far i've been unable to find such a script that is working. I found several scripts to find and replace stuff in the e-mail but these don't work as a rule on incoming e-mails, they only work on outgoing / creating e-mails. Does anyone have such a script that they can share with me? I would like to find & replace a certain text on every incoming e-mail. I would really apreciate it! Regards, Kris ps: I don't know how to program a whole VBA script, that's why I am asking here :) Current Code: Sub testing(MyMail As MailItem) Dim mail As MailItem Dim Inbox As Outlook.Folder Set Inbox = Session.GetDefaultFolder(olFolderInbox) For Each mail In Inbox.Items 'change subject mail.Subject = "TESTING" 'replace body text If mail.BodyFormat = olFormatHTML Then mail.HTMLBody = Replace(mail.HTMLBody, "Test 123", "TESTING") Else mail.Body = Replace(mail.Body, "Test 123", "TESTING") End If Next mail End Sub

  • [Outlook 2007] How to recover the deleted Tasks from a Deleted Profile?

    - by JoshuaD
Edit: OK. I've found the OST with the tasks in it, but I am unable to import an OST into outlook, it appears it needs to be converted to PST first. Is there anyone who knows a free OST - PST converter or some way to import OSTs directly into outlook? I am using outlook 2007 linked to an MSN email account through outlook connector. I recently added [email protected] (Fake address) to my outlook and deleted [email protected]. I thought my tasks were locally stored seperately from the email address, but it turns out when I deleted [email protected], I also lost all of my tasks. This is catastrophic. Is there any way to recover them? They're not stored on the MSN web account. I figure they must still be somewhere on my computer. I just don't know where to look or how to look there. Thank you.

  • AES Encrypting a Microsoft Access Field Via VBA

    - by Jason
I need to create a Microsoft Access database, but have a need, in one of my tables, for a single field to be strongly encrypted. Since AES requires both a key and an initialization vector, I've decided to solve this problem by requiring a password to access the database (as the key), and a field in the table to hold a SHA1 hash of the plaintext of the encrypted field. Does anyone know where I can find VBA-compatible code to actually do the encryption?

  • Excel VBA - Sum up a column

Hi, I'm trying to sum up a column in Excel VBA , however because there are blank spaces, I'm getting 0 as the sum. Dim rExternalTotal As Range , dExternalTotal as Double Set rExternalTotal = Range(rReportData.Offset(0, 0), rReportData.Offset(261, 0).End(xlUp)) dExternalTotal = Application.WorksheetFunction.Sum(rExternalTotal) dExternalTotal is always zero. I cannot delete the blank spaces on the work sheet. Can anyone suggest a way to do the sum programatically?

  • How to Create and Manage Contact Groups in Outlook 2010

    - by Mysticgeek
If you find you’re sending emails to the same people all the time during the day, it’s tedious entering in their addresses individually. Today we take a look at creating Contact Groups to make the process a lot easier. Create Contact Groups Open Outlook and click on New Items \ More Items \ Contact Group. This opens the Contract Group window. Give your group a name, click on Add Members, and select the people you want to add from your Outlook Contacts, Address Book, or Create new ones. If you select from your address book you can scroll through and add the contacts you want. If you have a large amount of contacts you might want to search for them or use Advanced Find. If you want to add a new email contact to your group, you’ll just need to enter in their display name and email address then click OK. If you want the new member added to your Contacts list then make sure Add to Contacts is checked. After you have the contacts you want in the group, click Save & Close. Now when you compose a message you should be able to type in the name of the Contact Group you created… If you want to make sure you have everyone included in the group, click on the plus icon to expand the contacts. You will get a dialog box telling you the members of the group will be shown and you cannot collapse it again. Check the box not to see the message again then click OK. Then the members of the group will appear in the To field. Of course you can enter a Contact Group into the CC or Bcc fields as well. Add or Remove Members to a Contact Group After expanding the group you might notice some contacts aren’t included, or there is an old contact you don’t want to be in the group anymore. Click on the To button… Right-click on the Contact Group and select Properties. Now you can go ahead and Add Members… Or highlight a member and remove them…when finished click Save & Close. If you need to send emails to several of the same people, creating Contact Groups is a great way to save time by not entering them individually. If you work in for a large company, creating Contact Groups by department is a must! • Associate email account with "Personal Folders" Outlook data file?

    - by TheLQ
In the process of migrating email servers I've run into an interesting problem: In Outlook 2007 you have the default "Personal Folders" item. This contains the email for the account that was origionally setup with Outlook. My issue is that I have deleted the account associated with that and created an entirely new account. So now I have "Personal Folders" and "[email protected]". However I can't delete "Personal Folders". nor associate "[email protected]" with that PST file. Deleteting it in Outlook (Tools Account Settings Data Files) gave the error "The default data file cannot be removed, because it is your default delivery location. After you have selected a different default delivery location, your current file can be removed." Deleting the PST file itself (outlook.pst) made outlook demand where its default file . would be. So I selected my "[email protected]" PST file and restarted Outlook. Now "Personal Folders" is called "[email protected]", but I still have a duplicate account called this. Which is bad. Worse, my email is associated with the duplicate PST, not the default. How can I associate my email with my default PST or delete the default PST entirely? Luckily I have backu
