  • Trouble with deploying Sonatype Nexus to Tomcat6 on Gentoo (log4j)

    Hi there. I'm running a tomcat-6 server on Gentoo. I'm having trouble deploying Nexus to my tomcat server (nexus-war from the sonatype website, and tomcat6 via emerge).     I've scanned my new webserver and I'm surprised to find that in the results there's programs that I never installed. This is a fresh new install of Ubuntu 12.04 and just installed Php 5.3, mysql, fail2ban, apache2, git, a few other things.   • Windows 7 randomly installs an "Unknown Device" successfully

    Rarely (several days to weeks between occurrences,) and seemingly at random, I get a balloon notification from Windows 7 (x64 SP1 Home Premium) that it is installing hardware for me. Whatever is being installed does so without error. However, no new hardware has been installed or plugged in! When I click the balloon it doesn't give me any useful information: Looking in the event log, I find this entry: Event ID: 20001 Source: UserPnp Task Category: 7005 Message: Driver Management concluded the process to install driver FileRepository\usb.inf_amd64_neutral_153b489118ee37b8\usb.inf for Device Instance ID USB\VID_0000&PID_0000\6&3AF9A177&0&0060&&02 with the following status: 0x0. It appears to be USB related. My motherboard has both USB 2.0 and 3.0 controllers. My keyboard and mouse are plugged into the 2.0 slots and the data/recharge cable for a tablet (but not the tablet itself) was plugged in to the 3.0 slot. No other USB devices have been attached for several days/reboots. Why is Windows doing this?

    We are using Deployment Rule Sets to limit access to the older JRE to well-known applications like - but are running into a problem. One business critical applications has the following properties (*s to protect info): title: Enterprise Services Repository location: null jar location: http://app.*.com:52400/rep/repository/*.jar jar version: null isArtifact: true The application downloads a .jnlp file, and uses java web start to execute. Since the location is null, this application cannot be targeted by a location rule. And the certificate hash method only works when the application is cached (being ran more than once). If cache storing is off, which is the case in some situations, how can this application be targeted? Or at least told to run with an older JRE on start? This problem is specifically noted in this bug Thanks!

  • OSX: Selecting default application for all unknown and different file types (extensions)

    I work in cluster computing and am using Mac OS X 10.6. I send off hundreds of computing jobs a day, and each one comes back with with a different extension. For example, svmGeneSelect.o12345 which is the std output of my svmGeneSelect job which is job number 12345. I don't control the extensions. All files are plain text. I want OSX to open any file extension that it hasn't seen before with my favorite text editor when I click on it. Or even better set up file association defaults for extension patterns ie textEdit for extensions matching *.o*. I do NOT want to create file associations for individual files since this extension will only ever exist once, and I do not want to go through the process of selecting the application to use for each file.     In our office we have many PCs, all of them have static IP addresses. We had a problem with one server with ip 192.168.1.10 dropping off the network occasionally. I unplugged the network cable from the server and from pinged 192.168.1.10 from another host and there was a response. I searched all PCs to see if any has such ip but i didn't found a one. I changed the server ip to fix the problem, but I still find this rogue device using 192.168.1.10 on the network -- how can I figure out what it is? Could it be the ip of virtual machine on someone's PC?

    I've got a number of audio recordings which I can't play back. It appears to be a case of a missing codec, but I can't locate the codec in question. VLC will not play the files. ffmpeg gives the error Unsupported codec (id=0) for input stream 0. This is the output from MediaInfo.     Hello: I am hosting a website with GoDaddy's "Deluxe Linux" package. Of late, I noticed my website is loading nearly 10x slower. As I begin to debug, I noticed the following redirect occurring however nothing in my script would be causing it. It hits the URL, www.domain.com, then a 302 fires to www.domain.com/39dnda, then another 302 back to www.doamin.com ??? The first 302 is random each time...     I got a Lenovo B460e laptop yesterday (given by the TN Govt). It has WINDOWS 7 Pro Set it up the way I liked it... all software drivers and all. I wanted extra drives, so I entered the WINDOWS diskadmin and changed my partition setup, by splitting and I did the partition setup in the installing proces, so I split my harddisk into 4 parts. So far so good. When I rebooted, I entered GRUB RESCUE MODE. In this mode I know the only command “ls”. Which gives like (hd0) (hd0,msdos5) (hd0,msdos4) (hd0,msdos2) (hd0,msdos1). This Lap does not have a CD drive, otherwise I could have formatted the OS and installed a new OS using WINDOWS 7 CD. Now I don’t know what I’m supposed to do. Any idea on how to fix this?

They do not look like 3rd-party advertisements / images embedded in a page.   • View unknown content-types in Firefox?

    A certain URL on my server returns Content-Type: application/json. The filename ends with .phtml, so whenever I go to it, Firefox 3.5 asks me if I want to save it or open it with another program. But the answer is neither; I want to view it in Firefox as if it was text/plain. Suggestions? The Applications tab of the Preferences window doesn't give this as an option for the "PHTML" type which now is listed in there (ever since I tried to open it with no external program).

  • Issue with https:// url going to an unknown location

    We have a website (ASP.NET/Plesk 9.5.5) that can be accessed just fine through the regular URL (http://example.com). However when accessing the site through https://example.com the site displays the invalid security certificate warning, which is fine since we don't have an SSL certificate. If I add an exception, I'm sent to a completely separate site that is apparently hosting a malware script (I'm still on https://example.com though). Because of this Google has flagged the site as dangerous. I can't find anything in the Plesk panel that would help fix this, and as far as I can tell those files don't exist on our server. How do I tell where the https:// link is sending me? I'm not that familiar with DNS, but is that what is causing this behavior?

  • CentOS: Init scripts failing to start for some unknown reason

    I'm running CentOS 6.2 - I've just migrated some applications over to a failover server, and copied their init scripts into /etc/init.d. I've made them executable, added them to chkconfig, with chkconfig -add, set their levels, made sure they're residing in /etc/rc.d/ - made sure I can execute them from rc2.d etc. The permissions are the same on both servers. They're also running in the same order as on the primary server Yet on reboot they don't start. Any ideas?
