  • Site Actions menu in SharePoint is WSS-like, whereas I have installed MOSS

    I had WSS installed on my VM and then uninstalled in order to install MOSS Enterprise I can see a lot of the MOSS stuff in the Central Administration pages but when I create a new web application and site collection, my Site Actions dropdown is showing the WSS version, i.e. Create, Edit Page and Site Settings as opposed to the MOSS menu which has View All Site Content, View Reports, Manage Content and Structure etc. I just tried deleting my web app and creating it all again but it's come back with the same thing again. Is somewhere remembering that I used to have WSS installed? (yes I know MOSS is built on top of WSS but you know what I mean!)

  • Bind list from FormView to model in ASP.net webforms

    For a large fillin form I use the asp.net FormView for the magic databinding to my model. In this model I've a property called Rides (shown below), which exposes a list, which I obviously not want to be replaced entirely. So I made it readonly. However, this way I can't use the databinding features anymore.   • OCS presence in SharePoint AJAX-based web part

    I'm currently implementing AJAX-based web part which displays search result. This search result has user names and opposite to each name I'm rendering the OCS presence indicator. This indicator works fine in IE6 but I can't get it to work in IE7/8. Basically the problem in IE7/8 is that OCS is rendered but when you mouse over it nothing is shown. If you try to scroll page down then mouse over the OCS icon you will see the OCS actions menu in the bottom of the page instead of seeing it on the opposite to the user name. My AJAX-based web part uses jQuery post method to make a request to the server and receives json which is then rendered to the div.   • ie8 playing funny with list-style-position: inside

    Ok, So problem here... when using list-style-position:inside in IE8 the first like is indented but every line after that is not. So the new lines appear under the bullet. This is fine, but when I use a list with that css applied with an a tag within the li then the text automatically gets pushed to the second line, and the first line is empty. When I remove the a tag from the li then it jumps back up. Any idea on why this might be or is this a bug in the ie8 world or do I just need to double check my css? Any insights would be much appreciated.

  • Erlang list comprehension, traversing two lists and excluding values

    I need to generate a set of coordinates in Erlang. Given one coordinate, say (x,y) I need to generate (x-1, y-1), (x-1, y), (x-1, y+1), (x, y-1), (x, y+1), (x+1, y-1), (x+1, y), (x+1, y+1). Basically all surrounding coordinates EXCEPT the middle coordinate (x,y). To generate all the nine coordinates, I do this currently: [{X,Y} || X<-lists:seq(X-1,X+1), Y<-lists:seq(Y-1,Y+1)] But this generates all the values, including (X,Y). How do I exclude (X,Y) from the list using filters in the list comprehension?

  • Append a dynamically changing watermark to a PDF in SharePoint

    This is primarily a question of possibilities more than instructions. I'm a programming consultant working on a WSS project site system for my client. We have a document library in which files are uploaded to go through a complex approval process. With multiple stages in this process, we have an extra field which dictates what the current status of the document is. Now, my client has become enamored with the idea of PDF watermarking. He wants the document (which is already a PDF) to be affixed with a watermark corresponding to the current status, such that with each stage of the approval process the watermark will change. One method, the traditional method for PDF watermarking, of accomplishing this is to have one "clean" copy of the document somewhere hidden on the site, and create a new PDF from it that has the watermark at each stage of the approval process. Since the filename will never change, this new PDF can be uploaded continually to a public library, always overwriting the old version and simulating a "dynamically changing watermark". However, in the various stages there will also be people uploading clean copies with corrections and suggestions, nevermind the complex nature of juggling around two libraries and the fact we double the number of files stored. My client and I agree that this is not a practical path to choose. What we would like to do is be able to "modify" the watermark in a PDF, so that we only have to keep one copy of the file. Unfortunately, from what I've seen, in most cases when you make something like a watermark, which in its nature is supposed to be "unmodifyable", you won't be able to edit it later. So, is it possible to have a part of a PDF which cannot be changed by anyone who downloads the file, but can be changed as part of a workflow or other object model process? Thanks in advance!

    ok here is a great question. I have a set of generic custom fields that are highly configurable from an end user perspective and the configuration is getting overbearing as there are nearly 100 plus items each custom field allows you to perform in the areas of Server/Client Validation, Server/Client Events/Actions, Server/Client Bindings parent/child, display properties for form/control, etc, etc. Right now I'm storing most of these values as "Text" in my field xml for my propertyschema. I'm very familiar with the multi column value, but this is not a complex custom type in sense it's an array. I also considered creating serilzable objects and stuffing them into the text field and then pulling out and de-serilizing them when editing through the field editor or acting on the rules through the custom spfield.     I have 2 entities, Task and List. Each task has a to-one relationship to a List object called "list", and there is an inverse relationship with List, which has a to-many relationship with Task called "tasks". I'm trying to use a fetch request with an NSPredicate to get all the Task objects that belong to a specified List: NSPredicate *predicate = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"list=%@", theList]; [fetchRequest setPredicate:predicate]; (where "theParent" is a reference to a List object). However this returns no fetched objects. If I take out the predicate, then the objects are returned (so I do know they exist, and by NSLogging theList I know it has Task objects associated with it).     Surely there must be a simple way of putting a simple code block into a master page :( I've tried using the obvious <%= "Hello, World!" %> syntax but code blocks aren't allowed. Then tried a site column, but don't know how to use them. Then tried web zones but master pages can't use them. Tried putting a web part (which are super difficult to make and deploy btw) into the page layout, but it just doesn't render :/ All I want is something nice and simple at the top of my site which shows today's date and the format I want to use is DateTime.Today.ToString("ddd, d MMMM yyyy") (Otherwise I'm resorting to javascript document.write!)     Hey, I have a form for administrators where they insert a user name ("domain\name") and the code gets and sets some information out of it. It's a huge project and some of the lists contain the username as a string ("domain\name"), but some lists only count on the "Created By" column, which is auto-created. I want to know what's the fastest way to query these lists using the username string. I tried to use the same query as the one I use for the first kind of lists and it obviously didn't work - <Where><Eq><FieldRef Name='UserName'/><Value Type='Text'>domain\\username</Value></Eq></Where> Thank you.

  • MS Office SharePoint Server 2007 UI language change

    There is an existing app in MOSS, which allows to create polls for a call center, operators fill them out as they call targeted customers. Then this Web app outputs the results of this poll. Is it possible to change the interface language of this existing web app? Operators don't understand English. If it's not about language packs, it would still be easier for me to embed new names and labels, rather than rewrite in a system I am not familiar with. Also, is it possible to change the authentication type from Windows authentication to regular username/password check (username and password will be stored in DB or somewhere only for this site) If it is possible, can you direct me to some kind of tutorial, help or manual which would show how to do it? On MSDN it's written that language can't be changed, but I'm not sure whether it's about the Web app language. Thank you.

From a deploymnet perspective, i think i have the following two options: Deploy the pages using a feature. The pages will have webparts present. Create a custom site definition with a document library and have the three pages as part of the document library. Can you please let me know which one of the options is better or is there any better solution?. Please note that the solution needs to work on WSS 3.0 as well.

I have tried detaching the page layout on on the page this works fine and copys the master page layout code into the aspx file. But it does not copy the code for the Quick launch menu.     I have come across blogs about how to setup an external content type (e.g. http://www.dotnetmafia.com/blogs/dotnettipoftheday/archive/2010/02/02/it-s-easy-to-configure-an-external-list-with-business-connectivity-services-bcs-in-sharepoint-foundation-2010.aspx) but I have not seen any examples of what to do when your external SQL DB has foreign keys. For example. I have a database that has orders and customers. An order has one and only one customer and a customer can have many orders. How can I setup external content types in such a way that when in the list view of these external content types, I can jump between and possible lookup values to that other type?
