  I'm reading about how to put a makefile together, but no-one seems to mention what to do if your files require different sets of libraries, they all seem to use the same set of libraries for each file. Since it seems unlikely that every single file has the same libraries, I take it the list they use must amalgamate all of the libraries required across the project. I just wanted to know if there's any downside to including too many libraries, or if the compiler works out which ones are needed and ignores the rest? Thanks

• Where can I write a temp file from ASP.NET?

  I have an 'access denied' problem on an ASP.NET web application, where the user uploads an Excel file and I try and write it to a folder. I don't have access to the host except FTP, so I can't set permissions. I thought that ASP.NET would be able to write to a folder that is under the web app root, but it isn't so. Is there anywhere I can write the file to that doesn't require me to set permissions?

Is there any way to forward requests to the new server automatically so it doesn't require client config changes?   I need to get a texture into a PolygonMorph, but these seem to require an InfiniteForm as color/ filling. The InfiniteForm is no solution as i need to rotate the PolygonMorph later on and moving the PolygonMorph around also has sideeffects on the displayed texture. It would be very useful if it would be possible to scale the inserted texture as well. How would you do this without replacing the existing PolygonMorph (or at least keeping the PolygonMorph's shape)?

Still, I've never seen a situation where casting a null pointer to an integer type evaluates to anything else. If there is a compiler or scenario where (size_t)((char *)0) != 0, what is it?

  In CVS, we could programatically create a new branch of existing source using the "rtag" command, which did not require a copy of the repository. Does git support functionality of this kind, making a branch of existing files in a remote git repository without having a local copy of it? Or does the distributed nature of git preclude this? (I'm trying to save the 20+ minutes it would take to make a freestanding copy of the repository, just to run a 'git branch' command.)
