• Prototyping Object in Javascript breaks jQuery?

  I have added a simple .js to my page that has some pretty mundane common-task sort of functions added to the Object and Array prototypes. Through trial and error I've figured out that adding any function to Object.prototype, no matter it's name or what it does causes javascript errors in jQuery: The culprit? Object.prototype.foo = function() { /*do nothing and break jQuery*/ }; The error I'm getting line 1056 of jquery-1.3.2.js, in the attr:function { } declaration: /*Object doesn't support this property or method*/ name = name.replace(/-([a-z])/ig, function(all, letter) { return letter.toUpperCase(); }); Apparently G.replace is undefined. While it's obvious that there's something I'm just not wrapping my head around with prototyping, I'm failing miserably to figure out what it is. To be clear, I'm not looking for a workaround, I have that handled... what I'm looking for is an answer to 'Why?'. Why does adding a function to Object.prototype break this bit of code?

• Workflows not starting after fresh install

  I just installed Dynamics CRM 4.0. It is working nicely except for workflows. They won't start. I turned on tracing and it appears that there is an IO error. The server is setup with IFD and SSL. No issues accessing it internally or externally. It was blank. That didn't appear to work. After some more research, I think this might be caused because the Asynch service can't access the SDK web services using SSL. If this is correct, how would one configure a CRM server for secure access, internal and external (IFD) and still allow asynch service to hit web site? Thanks for your help!

• ORA-22835 using JPA (Buffer too small)

  I am trying to persist an Entity with a @Lob annotated String field. The content of that fiels if bigger than the 40k buffer size limit. The first problem I had was related to the setString method used internally by the JPA implementation (Hibernate in my case) and the Oracle JDBC Driver. This problem was solved adding <property name="hibernate.connection.SetBigStringTryClob" value="true"/> to my persistence.xml file. Then, the error changed to a ORA-22835 error (the buffer is too small). ¿Is there any way that JPA solves this problem without going to a low-level implementation? ¿Any suggestions?

• Why doesn't WebBBS work now that I've migrated to a new server?

  Hello, I've moved a WebBBS board from one server to another. Ever since the board doesn't work. I'm getting an Apache error whenever I try to access the board. Don't even know where to start the debugging, I'm not a Perl person. The file paths remained the same and there isn't any DB involved. http://gammonline.com/members/board/ Any ideas? After a bit of testing I believe that the problem has something to do with the index.cgi which is located in that folder (not getting the error when renaming it). Thanks, Roy.

• MessageBox doesn't show on mdi form after a long calculation

  Hello This is a very similar problem to This one, sadly that one was never answered either. I have a MDI Main forum that hosts several children forms. One of them does a long calculation and throws an exception if an error occurs (all work is done on the same thread). I then try to inform the user of an error with an messagebox, however it doesn't appear (but steals focus from the MDI Main, so the application is completely unresponsive). The beheviour changes slightly if I call Application.DoEvents() (evil I know, but this is a last resort thing). Then the forms remain completely active and the messagebox only appears after I change active application (Alt+Tab) to something else and then back again. What can I do to make sure the messagebox will be visible? I have already tried passing both, active child and MDI Main as parameter to the MessageBox.Show method. It doesn't change the behaviour.

  I'm on a Web Hosting Buzz reseller account. They have some very stringent mail sending rules, including blocking of authenticated SMTP socket mail sending using PEAR. It was suggested in WHB forum that this was possible with sSMTP.   The contract of equals with regards to null, is as follows: For any non-null reference value x, x.equals(null) should return false. This is rather peculiar, because if o1 != null and o2 == null, then we have: o1.equals(o2) // returns false o2.equals(o1) // throws NullPointerException The fact that o2.equals(o1) throws NullPointerException is a good thing, because it alerts us of programmer error. And yet, that error would not be catched if for various reasons we just switched it around to o1.equals(o2), which would just "silently fail" instead. So the questions are: Why is it a good idea that o1.equals(o2) should return false instead of throwing NullPointerException? Would it be a bad idea if wherever possible we rewrite the contract so that anyObject.equals(null) always throw NullPointerException instead?

  Hello, I'm trying to use ruby-debug19 with Ruby 1.9.1p376 but am getting the following error: test.rb:2:in `require': no such file to load -- ruby-debug19 (LoadError) from test.rb:2:in `<main>' Here's test.rb: require 'rubygems' require 'ruby-debug19' Here's the output of "gem list": *** LOCAL GEMS *** ruby-debug19 (0.11.6) (etc.) So running "ruby test.rb" generates the above error. Am I doing this wrong? I thought this was the correct way to run ruby-debug19 (by including the gem and adding "debugger" statements) and haven't been able to find any articles/posts with the same problem. I am using RVM but the above output is all under the same version of Ruby ("ruby -v" shows 1.9.1p376 as expected, and the gem list output is specific to that version and not the OS X system-installed version 1.8.7).

• Python - Linux - Connecting to MS SQL with Windows Credentials - FreeTDS+UnixODBC + pyodbc or pymssq

  There doesn't seem to be any great instructions for setting this up. Does anyone have any good instructions? I am a linux noob so be gentle. I did see another post that is similar, but no real answer. I have a couple of problems. FreeTDS doesn't "seem" to be working. I am trying to connect and I get the following message using the "tsql" command: "Default database being set to databaseName There was a problem connecting to the server" but it doesn't mention what the problem is. The error I get when I try to connect using pyodbc is: "pyodbc.Error: ('08S01', '[08S01] [unixODBC][FreeTDS][SQL Server]Unable to connect: Adaptive Server is unavailable or does not exist (20009) (SQLDriverConnectW)')" I tried something similar with pymssql, but I ran into similar issues. I keep getting errors that I can't connect, but it doesn't tell me why.

  I updated to the version 3.0.0.3. Dragged the new ActiveRecord directory in VS08, and added the newer dll. I'm not sure whats going on yet. When I try to compile the project I get that error. My SVN server just lost my old version, so I'll have to download the older Subsonic version and see if that fixes the problem. • Debugging problems in Visual Studio 2005 - No source code available for the current location

  Hi all I've searched up and down Google for others with a similar problem, and while I can find the error I don't think that other people have the same base problem that I do. Basically, I had to create a project for a unit-testing environment in order to run this test suite. First, I add my original C file, compile, and then a test file (C++) is generated. I then exclude my original source from the project, include this test script (which includes the original source at the top), and then run. I can debug the test file fine, but when it jumps to the original C file I get the dreaded 'no source code available for the current location' error. Both files are located within the same location, and I compiled the original file without any issue. Anybody have any thoughts about this? Its driving me crazy!

  Hi, I installed SQL Server 2008 on a Win XP SP2 workstation in a AD domain and configured to run with the "Network Service" account. In my error log I have the following message (Event ID:26037): The SQL Server Network Interface library could not register the Service Principal Name (SPN) for the SQL Server service. **Error: 0xd, state: 13**. Failure to register an SPN may cause integrated authentication to fall back to NTLM instead of Kerberos. This is an informational message. Further action is only required if Kerberos authentication is required by authentication policies. The strange thing is that I have another SQL Server 2008 installation in a Win 2003 server configured in the same way and there I do not have this message. My questions are: Does anybody know if there are limitations with Kerberos on Windows XP and SQL Server? Why the SPN is not automatically registered on Win XP when I use the "Network Service" but it works on Windows 2003 server? THANKS!

  Hi everyone! I am trying to load external SWFs in my Adobe AIR App. The loaded SWF is trying to access an URL to retrieve some informations via XML. When starting the SWF by itself it works fine. When loading the SWF from the File.applicationStorageDirectory i will get an Security-Error because the loaded App is executed in a local-with-filesystem Sandbox appareantly. First Question: Is there a way to change this? That the loaded SWF is running in a network Sandbox? Since that first attempt didn't worked i've moved the SWF to the app:// directory. Now i'll get a Security-Error because there is no policy file on the Server available where the XML data should be retrieved. Second Question: Why is the policy file not necessary when running the SWF by itself, but is necessary when trying to load the data from the application Sandbox? What am i doing wrong?   Any idea why my Restore command works fine when run in Management Studio 2008 but not when run from the dos prompt? Shown below is the error when running from the dos prompt.   I am dealing with a project designed for iPhone OS 2.0 and I am intending to keep compatibility with this version while offering new OS 3.x functionality. When I set the base SDK to iPhone OS 3.1.3 and Target OS for 2.0, Xcode gives me this error during compilation. 'stdint.h' file not found /Developer/usr/lib/clang/1.0.1/include/stdint.h:32:16: fatal error: 'stdint.h' file not found The strange thing is that the file is there, on the path it says it is not. if I set the target OS for 3.x the problem vanishes. how to solver that? thanks for any help.

• Visual Studio .dll Reference not found ?

  I had never had this error before, and I didn't move any file, or exclude any reference. I'm getting this error (link). In the ajaxcontroltoolkit.dll.refresh file, I get a path to the DLL, but it is a path that was located in someone else's computer (who no longer is in charge of this). It might as well work if I just re-do the reference, but what is weird is that I've used this reference before, and had no problems. I don't know what triggered it.. Does anyone have any clue ? --[UPDATE]-- As expected, I've fixed it, but this question remains unanswered. Besides, the exact same problem with a coworker..

It is told in a book: Illustrated C# 2008(Page 373) that the int variable y is inside the scope of del2 definition. Then why these errors.
