  • combining sed with xargs to obtain a source and output file name

    I have a situation where I have some input files like this: M2U0001.MPG M2U0180.MPG And I want to run a command (in a bash shell) on each similarly named file in the directory. I'd like the current file name to be given to this command as an input and a modified version of the filename to be given as an output file. Here's an example: ffmpeg -i M2U0001.MPG M2U0001_fixed.MPG I had the idea of using xargs and sed, but this is as far as I got: ls -1 *.MPG | xargs -I{} ffmpeg -i {} `echo {} | sed -r 's/[0-9]{2,}/&_fixed/'` But this results in the original filename being output in both positions. Am I totally going about this the wrong way? I found that if I echo the filename directly to the embedded chunk like this it works: echo M2U0001.MPG | sed -r 's/[0-9]{2,}/&_fixed/'

  • How to join video files from terminal?

    I have tried avidemux2_cli, mencoder, ffmpeg, cat.. But this doesn't always work (With the most of the times the error is that the audio codec is not the same) Maybe i put wrong options in the commands. So the commands: cat Sample.avi rrr.avi > complete.avi ffmpeg -i Sample.avi -i output.avi -vcodec copy -acodec copy complete.avi mencoder -ovc lavc -oac copy Sample.avi rrr.avi -o complete.avi avidemux2_cli --audio-codec copy --video-codec copy --output-format avi --load Sample.avi -append output.avi --save video.avi The cat problem is that it doesn't show error but it doesn't work always..Like the complete.avi will be exactly the same with Sample.avi Fmmpeg does nothing. The complete.avi is always the same with Sample.avi Mencoder error: All files must have identical audio codec and format for -oac copy. So the complete.avi is the same with Sample.avi avidemux2_cli there is no error but the complete.avi is again the same with Sample.avi.. So to sum up, all complete.avi are the same with Sample.avi.. And the problem is that they don't have the same audio codec ( i quess ).. Any ideas?

  • Running a bash script from an HTML link or button

    I have a webserver that's hosting lots of images. I want the client to be able to press a button or a link, which will run a bash script, which will create a video based on all these pictures. The script I'm trying to run is this: #!/bin/bash # cd to the directory cd /var/www/gallery # use ffmpeg to make video ffmpeg -pattern_type glob -i 'img-*jpg' -r 1 video.mp4 # Take the first file in the directory and name it video.mp4.jpg (for thumbnail) cp `ls | sort -n | head -1` video.mp4.jpg The script is located on the server. So when the client clicks the link or button, the script will run, and the video is created. I've tried both solutions listed here but I can't seem to get it to work. I have php installed on my server.

  • Batch converting video from avc1 to xvid

    I need a way to batch convert 720p video files from avc1 to xvid in Ubuntu 10.04. I'm not terribly concerned about file size, but I do wish to retain the picture quality as much as possible. I believe the audio is encoded as aac, which is fine for my purposes. What would be the best and easiest way to do this? I've tried using Handbrake. During my first attempt, I had it using ffmpeg to convert to MPEG-4, but that just gave me a super-low quality video at twice the file size. Trying h.264 now, so we'll see how that works out. But just in case it doesn't pan out so well, what other ways do you recommend? I was thinking I'd write a bash script to reencode the files one by one, but the problem is that I have very little knowledge about codecs and containers and whatnot - so I wouldn't know what parameters I would pass ffmpeg/mencoder.

    I'm trying to use <video> tag feature. I've encoded my file with ffmpeg: ffmpeg -i 1.vob -f ogg -vcodec libtheora -b 800k -g 300 -acodec libvorbis -ab 128k out.ogv I've placed this text in index.html: <video src="out.ogv" controls></video> I've loaded this files to nginx document root and opened index.html in Firefox 3.5. I see the first frame, see controls, but can't play video. This video plays good even from my server. How should I encode video to view it in browser? UPD: If I start playing video from the middle, everything works fine.

I suppose it's time to burn up one of our support tickets with Microsoft.

  • Why is my .htaccess file redirecting to full server path instead of relative path?

    I've never had a problem with cakePHP before, but something's odd about this server and is causing the redirects in the .htaccess files to behave oddly. CakePHP uses mod_rewrite in .htaccess files to redirect requests to its own webroot folder. The problem is that the redirects are listing the wrong path and causing a 404 error. My CakePHP application, which is stored in the listings directory, has a .htaccess file as follows: <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> RewriteEngine on RewriteRule ^$ app/webroot/ [R=301,L] RewriteRule (.*) app/webroot/$1 [R=301,L] </IfModule> (*note that the R=301 causes an external redirect so we can see what is going on from our end. It should really omit this flag and do the redirect internally, transparent to end-users) This is supposed to redirect any request from http://hostname.com/~username/listings/ to http://hostname.com/~username/listings/app/webroot/ However, rather than simply adding “app/webroot/” to the end as it is supposed to, it is adding the full server path ( /home/username/public_html/listings/app/webroot/ ) resulting in the final URL http://hostname.com/home/username/public_html/listings/app/webroot/ which is obviously incorrect and triggers a 404 error. The hosting is on a shared hosting account, so that limits what I can do with the settings. I've never seen this happen before, and I'm thinking it's something wrong from the hosting side of things, but if anyone has some helpful suggestions then I can put them to the hosting company as well.

    I have been asked to update the menu on a website we maintain. The website uses Castle Windors Monorail and NVelocity as the template. The menu is currently rendered using custom made subclasses of ViewComponent, which render li elements. At the moment there is only one (horizontal) level, so the current mechanism is fine. I have been asked to add drop down menus to some of the existing menus. As this is the first time I have seen Monorail and NVelocity, I'm a little lost.     Some people like blogging on a site that is completely managed by someone else (e.g. http://wordpress.com/) and others, like me, prefer hosting their own blog at their own domain. In the latter case you need to decide what blog engine to install on your web space to power your blog. There are many free blog engines to choose from (e.g. the one from http://wordpress.org/). If, like me, you want to use a blog engine that is based on the .NET platform you have many choices including BlogEngine.NET, Subtext and the one I picked: dasBlog. In this post I'll describe the steps I took to get going with the open source dasBlog (home page, source page). A. Installing First I installed dasBlog on my local Windows 7 machine where I have IIS7 installed. To install dasBlog, I started by clicking the "Install" button on its web gallery page. After that I went through configuration, theming and adding content as described below. Once I was happy that everything was working correctly on the local machine, I set this up on a hosting service. I went for a Windows IIS7 shared hosting 3 month Economy plan from GoDaddy. The dasBlog site lists a bunch of other hosts. You can read the installation instructions for dasBlog, and with GoDaddy I just had to click one button since it is available as part of their quick-install apps. With GoDaddy I had a previewdns option that allowed me to play around and preview my site before going live. B. Configuring After it was installed (on local machine and/or hosting provider), I followed the obvious steps to create an admin user and logged in. This displays an admin navigation bar with the following options: 1. Navigator Links: I decided I was not going to use this feature. I manage links on the side of my blog manually elsewhere as part of the theme. So, I deleted every entry on this page and ignored it thereafter. 2. Blogroll: Ditto - same comment as for Navigator Links. 3. Content Filters: I did not delete (or add) these, but I did ensure both checkboxes are not checked. I.e. I am not using this feature now, but I may return to it in the future. 4. Activity: This is a read-only view of various statistics. So nothing to configure here, but useful to come back to for complementary statistics to whatever other statistical package you use (e.g. free stats as part of the hosting and I also use feedburner for syndication stats). 5. Cross-posting: I did not need that, so I turned it off via the Configuration Settings discussed next. 6. Configuration Settings: This is where the bulk of the configuration for the blog takes place and they are stored in a single XML file: Site.Config file. There are truly self-explanatory options to pick for Basic Settings, Services Settings and Services to Ping, Syndication Settings (this is where you link to your feedburner name if you have one) and Mail to Weblog Settings (I keep this turned off). There are also "Xml Storage System Settings" (I keep this turned off), "OpenId Settings" (I allow OpenID commenters), "Spammer Settings" (Enable captcha, never show email addresses) and "Comment settings" (Enable comments, don't allow on older posts, don't allow html). There are also Appearance Settings (I checked the "Use Post Title for Permalink", replaced spaces with hyphen and unchecked the "Use Unique Title"). Finally, there are also Notification Settings, but they are a bit of hit and miss in my case, in that I don’t always get the emails (still investigating this). C. Adding Content You can add content via the "Add Entry" link on the admin navigation bar or by configuring the "Mail to Weblog" settings and sending email or, do what I've started doing, use Live Writer (also the team has a blog). Another way to add content is programmatically if, for example, you are migrating content from another blog (and I'll cover that in separate post sharing the code). What you should know is that all blog content (posts and comments) live in XML files in a folder called "content" under your dasBlog installation. D. Theming There is a very good guide about themes for dasBlog, there is also a similar guide with screenshots (scroll down to "So how do I create a theme") and the dasBlog macro reference. When you install dasBlog, there are many themes available; each theme is in its own folder (representing the folder name) under the themes folder. You may have noticed that you can switch between these via the "Appearance Settings" described above (look for the combobox after the Default Theme label). I created my own theme by copy-pasting an existing theme folder, renaming it and then switching to it as the default. I then opened the folder in Visual Studio and hacked around the HTML in the 3 files (itemTemplate, homeTemplate and dayTemplate). These files have a blogtemplate file extension, which I temporarily renamed to HTML as I was editing them. There is no more advice I can offer here as this is a matter of taste and the aforementioned links is all I used. Personally, I had salvaged the CSS (and structure) from my previous blog and wanted to make this one match it as closely as possible - I think I have succeeded. E. If you run into any issue with dasBlog... ...use your favorite search engine to find answers. Many bloggers have been using this engine for a while and have documented issues and workarounds over time. One such example is ScottHa's dasBlog category; another example is therightstuff where I "borrowed" the idea/macro for the outlook-style on-page navigation.     When using HAProxy for virtual hosting, I can see how to use the Host from the header at the front end to decide what backend to route to. However, is it possible to make the back end be a URL which includes a path (not unlike what you would do with apache or nginx when setting up virtual hosting). http://www.techrawr.com/tag/haproxy/ - shows most of it. But what if the back ends were on the one server but with backend1 and backend2 as the servers?

    I've been tasked with hosting our own inhouse mail server 1) i need to have web mail access , imap 2) it needs to be as cheap as possible i already have an ubuntu server that we use for our samba drives and so far have been very happy with it I am not apposed to building out another box for a dedicated email server but I'm not familiar enough with Linux or mail hosting programs to even know where to start.

  • Problems deploying MVC2 - Could not load type 'System.Web.Mvc.UrlParameter'

    Hi Everyone, I have problems deploying MVC2 application to my hosting. It shows the following error: Could not load type 'System.Web.Mvc.UrlParameter' from assembly 'System.Web.Mvc, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35'. It looks like it does not understand the new "optional URL parameters" feature of MVC2. This is just a simple test application I created with "New Project" wizard in VWD 2008. It works ok localy both in IIS and Visual Studio web servers. MVC1 web sites are working ok on the hosting server. I've contacted the hosting support and they installed MVC2 but the problem still exists. The web site is working in ASP.NET 2.0 integrated pipeline mode. Does anyone know why it is happening? Thank you!
