• flash video covering JQueryUI model dialog

  I have a site with a flash SWF on the home page. I have a login dialog that is displayed using the jquery ui modal. The modal dialog is being covered by the SWF movie when it opens. I tried setting the z-index etc but nothing seems to stop the SWF from covering the log in. Is there any way to force the SWF movie to the background? The SWF uses src="support/AC_RunActiveContent.js" if that helps isolate the version.

• PHPMailer, fsockopen(), possible Apache issue?

  I'm using PHPMailer to send out site contacts. In development, the script works perfectly with the GMail service over smtp. However, in production, inside the client's DMZ, it appears unable to connect to the SMTP service they have there. I have connected to the same service using telnet to port 25, so I know for sure it exists and is available to the server. Are there any circumstances where php might not be able to open a socket connection (fsockopen)...? The php extension openssl is loaded and ok. The error is "Unable to connect to SMTP service". • Cache for everybody except staff members.

  I have a django site where I want to stick an "admin bar" along the top of every non-admin page for staff members. It would contain useful things like page editing tools, etc. The problem comes from me using the @cache_page decorator on lots of pages. If a normal user hits a page, the cached version comes up without the admin bar (even for admin users) and if an admin hits the page first, normal users see the admin bar. I could tediously step through the templates, adding regional cache blocks but there are a lot of templates, and life is altogether too short. Ideally, there would be a way of telling the caching to ignore cache get/set requests from admin users... But I don't know how to best implement that. How would you tackle this problem?

  Hello, We have over 500 sites that we host. All of there ftp information is in a database. Whenever one of our programmers have to add a site they have to get all the info and set it up. However, I found that you can export them and it has all the info except for one problem. The password is encrypted. I am not trying to hack anything, I want to know how to encrypt our passwords so that we can import them using dreamweavers import feature. Can anyone tell me what encryption they use or a link on how to encrypt. I am not interested in decrypting at all because we already have all of them so it would not do me any good.   I am having issues with authentication for my webview I have a https address that requires authentication but it isn't basic authentication. When I access chrome on my phone and go to this site I get a dialogue box that asks me for a username and password I want to do something similar but all the attempts at authentication I have made have failed using the what I have found as they all seem to be for basic authentication and I don't think this is what it is. any help is appreciated, sorry if this is duplicate but I have looked and found nothing similar .

  I'm currently working on a website in PHP, and I'm wondering what the best practices/methods are to reduce the time requests take. I've build the site in a modular way, so a page would consist of a number of modules, and each of these would need to request information. For example, I have a cart module, that (if a cart is set) will fetch the cart with the id (stored in a session variable) from the database and return its contents. I have another module that lists categories and this needs to fetch the categories from the database. My system is built with models, and each model might also make a request, for example a category model will make a request to get products in that category.

  Hi, What's the best way to set up a controller to sort by many (possibly null) criteria? Say for example, I was building a site that sold cars. My CarController has a function Index() which returns an IList of cars to the view, and details on each car are rendered with a partial view. What's the best way to structure this? Especially if there are a lot of criteria: Car Type (aka SUV), Car Brand, Car Model, Car Year, Car Price, Car Color, bool IsNew, or if I want to sort by closest to me etc... I'm using NHibernate as my ORM. Should I have just a ton of possible NHibernate queries and figure out which one to choose based on if/then's in the controller? Or is there a simpler way.   After reading and commenting on this question PHP Library for Keeping your site index by Google, Bing, etc, I was curious to look at StackOverFlow's sitemap. This returned a 404 error which I am guessing is just a protected page by determining if your are a Index Bot or simply doesnt exists. This then lead me to look at the robots.txt for StackOverFlow. I was surprised to see the comment "Yahoo bot is evil" along with a couple other Indexing bots (Spinn3r and KSCrawler) . I am unfamilular with Spinn3r and KSCrawler but my question is, why are these bots (particular Yahoo) considered as evil? Surely any and all indexing of any Search Engine is a good thing?

• FBML in Rails views using Facebooker

  Hi all, I have successfully wired up a Facebook Connect application and everything is working fine. I can sign new users up with Facebook, or I can link existing users with Facebook. No problems there. However, now I am trying to add an Invite page, where a user can see which of their Friends have the application, and then show them a Facebook FMBL Multi Select form to invite friends into it. Here is the documentation for that FBML tag. http://wiki.developers.facebook.com/index.php/Connect/Integrating_an_Invite_Form_into_Your_Website#Creating_a_Full_Multi-friend_Selector_Request_or_Invite However, I cannot get this to work within my Rails view. Do I need to setup something special to use FBML in my Rails views?   Tycho is supposed to be a plug-in for maven for building eclipse plug-ins. I have found various blogs and other articles about it, but the contained links to Tycho are all dead or not accessible for the general public, for example: http://www.sonatype.com/people/2009/04/tycho-040-roadmap/ The only thing I found is a project proposal on the eclipse site, but it doesn't reference any downloads: http://www.eclipse.org/proposals/tycho/ I found a svn repository, but it seems to be extremely dated: http://svn.codehaus.org/m2eclipse/tycho/trunk/ So my question is: where do I get tycho from? I am not sure if this question fits on this site :S if it doesn't please let me know and i remove it :) well... here is my problem I just got a steel series headset for christmas(yay!) and i quickly plugged it into my MacBook Pro. The audio output works fine, but i am having issues with the audio input :( i had these kinds of problems before and i think my mac may be broken :( but then i saw this post: http://www.biloca.com/blog/?p=25 and they talked about some power issues to the microphone on the Mac Mini...   I have a django project that runs on a Linux server, and I've been working on it both on Linux and OS X. I've noticed that some of the pages are a bit off, to put it politely, in Internet Explorer, and so I checked out the subversion repository on Windows and tried to run a local server. My media directory has symbolic links to all of the media from each different app, and obviously Windows doesn't know what to do with them. I could simply hard-copy or link everything manually in Windows, but then I wouldn't be able to check that in (since the site runs on a Linux server), so it'd be a pain in the neck. What is typically done in this case?

  I have DotnetNuke loaded in Visual studio 2010. The 'use custom server' option under 'Start Options' is disabled. Why is it disabled? What does 'Use Default Web server' default to? How do I change what the default is? In earlier versions of VS i was able to switch between IIS and the internal web server (Cassini). Now it's more confusing in VS 2010! Would the project type, Web Application Project vs Web Site project, affect the setting?

  I am creating a simple game. I want to use jQUERY to rotate the joints making it move. I am using .animate ( http://api.jquery.com/animate/ ) to animate CSS properties but if it is also possible to use Javscript, I can make my own custom code. More TO-THE-POINT How do I rotate images in CSS or Javascript? I prefer CSS but Javascript is fine too. If it is impossible (which I am pretty sure it is but I am not giving up yet) is there any other possible way to do what i am trying to do without making a bunch of seperate images, each rotated a different way. Or can anyone at least give me an example of a site that does something similar. EDIT: I need 1 CSS property (no -something: rotation(500deg);) that works with FireFox, Safari and Chrome because those are the only browsers I really work with.

When you create the app on the Twitter website, you have to specify a callback URL, which for sake of argument, I have set to http://mydomain.com I've read the oAuth 1.0a spec, and to override this callback URL with your own custom one you have to send the oauth_callback parameter in the request_token phase (url-encoded of course). So my request URL looks like this: http://twitter.com/oauth/request_token?oauth_callback_url=http%3A%2F%2Fmydomain.com%2Ftwittercallback Supposedly, if all goes to plan, in your response data, you are supposed to receive a new parameter of oauth_callback_confirmed=true in addition to your token and token secret parameters. However, my response comes through as: oauth_token=MYTOKEN&oauth_token_secret=MYTOKENSECRET I know I haven't given you guys the greatest amount to go on, but I'm at my wits end as to why I am not receiving the oauth_callback_confirmed parameter. Without this, my application keeps defaulting back to the callback URL hard-coded on the Twitter website. Please if anyone could help me out, I will be eternally grateful! Thanks, A.

• Database solutions for storing/searching EXIF data

  I have thousands of photos on my site (each with a numeric PhotoID) and I have EXIF data (photos can have different EXIF tags as well). I want to be able to store the data effectively and search it. Some photos have more EXIF data than others, some have the same, so on.. Basically, I want to be able to query say 'Select all photos that have a GPS location' or 'All photos with a specific camera' I can't use MySQL (tried it, it doesn't work). I thought about Cassandra, but I don't think it lets me query on fields. I looked at SimpleDB, but I would rather: not pay for the system, and I want to be able to run more advanced queries on the data. Also, I use PHP and Linux, so it would be awesome if it could interface nicely to PHP. Any ideas?

• Java JSpinner Looks Ugly

  GUI i am trying to use JSpinner but as you can see from the attached image that it looks bad. i am on windows 7. i was wondering if anyone knows how to make it look good? just for clarity. bad means the edges dont line up and good means the spin control edges line up correctly. thank you. EDIT: maybe there is no cure for this? because i checked site and all their examples look like this!
