  • Using both RolesAllowed and Transactional in beans

    - by Laran Evans
I have some beans which contain methods which are annotated with both @RolesAllowed and @Transactional. I have one Spring config file which utilizes a BeanNameAutoProxyCreator for Security related beans and another Spring config file which utilizes a BeanNameAutoProxyCreator for Transactional related beans. The problem is that some beans contain both security as well as transactional-related beans. So Spring creates proxies for one set of beans. It then tries to create proxies for the other set of beans. When it does, it tries to create proxies of the proxies and bombs out. Has anyone tried to configure both security and transactionality in the same beans via Spring? What's the trick? Thanks.

  • Reusing of a PreparedStatement between methods?

    - by MRalwasser
We all know that we should rather reuse a JDBC PreparedStatement than creating a new instance within a loop. But how to deal with PreparedStatement reuse between different method invocations? Does the reuse-"rule" still count? Should I really consider using a field for the PreparedStatement or should I close and re-create the prepared statement in every invocation? (Of course an instance of such a class would be bound to a Connection which might be a disadvantage) I am aware that the ideal answer might be "it depends". But I am looking for a best practice for less experienced developers that they will do the right choice in most of the cases.

  • abstract class need acces to subclass atribute

    - by user1742980
I have a problem with my code. public abstract class SimplePolygon implements Polygon { ... public String toString(){ String str = "Polygon: vertices ="; for(int i = 0;i<varray.length;i++){ str += " "; str += varray[i]; } return str; } } public class ArrayPolygon extends SimplePolygon { private Vertex2D[] varray; public ArrayPolygon(Vertex2D[] array){ varray = new Vertex2D[array.length]; if (array == null){} for(int i = 0;i<array.length;i++){ if (array[i] == null){} varray[i] = array[i]; } ... } Problem is, that i'm not allowed to add any atribute or method to abstract class SimplePolygon, so i'cant properly initialize varray. It could simply be solved with protected atrib in that class, but for some (stupid) reason i'cant do that. Has anybody an idea how to solve it without that? Thanks for all help.

  • Strange IP addresses in tomcat

    - by mdev
Some where I have this in some generic class. public static String getRequestIp (HttpServletRequest request){ String ipaddr = request.getHeader("X-FORWARDED-FOR"); if (ipaddr == null)ipaddr = request.getRemoteAddr(); return ipaddr; } For every request i call that method and in a certain moment i insert a record in a mysql database. In most cases it works normally and i can see a record for every request with a valid ip address in the right field. But sometimes where the IP should be there is something like this. "unknown, 93.186.30.120" or "10.0.1.169, 186.38.84.3" Apache is at the front listening at port 80 and used as proxy to Tomcat that listens at port 8081. My router config would not allow to pass any conection that come by any port other than 80. Any Help? Thanks in advance.

  • Is there a faster method then StringBuilder for a max 9-10 step string concatenation?

    - by Pentium10
I have this code to concate some array elements: StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder(); private RatedMessage joinMessage(int step, boolean isresult) { sb.delete(0, sb.length()); for (int i = 0; i <= step; i++) { if (mStack[i] == null) continue; rm = mStack[i].getCurrentMsg(); if (rm == null || rm.msg.length() == 0) continue; if (sb.length() != 0) { sb.append(", "); } sb.append(rm.msg); } return sb.toString(); } Important the array holds max 10 items, so it's not quite much. My trace output tells me this method is called 18864 times, 16% of the runtime was spent in this method. Can I optimize more?

  • Spring configuration in GWT Project?

    - by Firstthumb
I am developing a GWT-Spring-Hibernate project and I want to use Spring Autowired annotation in GWT Service Servlet but my autowired annotated service is not injected. it is null. Is there a configuration detail that I missed? I add <context:annotation-config /> <context:component-scan base-package="com.org" /> to my ApplicationContext.xml and I have annotated my service as @Service("myService") @Autowired MyService myService; // This is null so WHY?

  • Re-load Android activity data

    - by rhinds
Hi, I am writing an Android app, part of which will be a survey involving multiple pages of checkbox question and answers. I have created an activity to display the question and options (from the DB) and what I want to do now is when i press the "Next" button it should just reload the current activity with the next question set from the database. (the activity starts with survey.getNextQuestion() - so its just a case of refreshing the activity so it updates) Im sure this is a simple thing to do -any ideas? Thanks

  • "Zoom" text to be as big as possible within constraints/box

    - by stolsvik
First problem: You have 400 pixels width to go on, and need to fit some text within that constraint as large as possible (thus, the text shall use that amount of space). Throw in a new constraint: If the text is just "A", then it shall not zoom this above 100 pixels (or some specific font size). Then, a final situation: Linebreaks. Fit some text in the largest possible way within e.g. 400 x 150 pixels. An obvious way is to simply start with point 1, and then increase until you can't fit it anymore. This would work for all three problems, but would be very crude. The fitting of a single line within bounds could be done by writing it with some fixed point size, check the resulting pixel bounds of the text, and then simply scale it with a transform (the text scales properly too then, check out TransformUI). Any ideas of other ways to attack this would be greatly appreciated!

  • distinguishing a string with flex

    - by haluk
Hi, I need to tokenize some strings which will be splitted of according to operators like = and !=. I was successful using regex until the string has != operator. In my case, string was seperated into two parts, which is expected but ! mark is in the left side even it is part of given operator. Therefore, I believe that regex is not suitable for it and I want to benefit from lex. Since I do not have enough knowledge and experience with lex, I am not sure whether it fits my work or not. Basically, I am trying to do replace the right hand side of the operators with actual values from other data. Do you people think that can it be helpful for my case? Thanks.

  • Is this a correct way to stop Execution Task

    - by Yan Cheng CHEOK
    I came across code to stop execution's task. private final ExecutorService executor = Executors.newSingleThreadExecutor(); public void stop() { executor.shutdownNow(); try { executor.awaitTermination(100, TimeUnit.DAYS); } catch (InterruptedException ex) { log.error(null, ex); } } public Runnable getRunnable() { return new Runnable() { public void run() { while (!Thread.currentThread().isInterrupted()) { // What if inside fun(), someone try to clear the interrupt flag? // Say, through Thread.interrupted(). We will stuck in this loop // forever. fun(); } } }; } I realize that, it is possible for Runnable to be in forever loop, as Unknown fun may Thread.sleep, clear the interrupt flag and ignore the InterruptedException Unknown fun may Thread.interrupted, clear the interrupt flag. I was wondering, is the following way correct way to fix the code? private final ExecutorService executor = Executors.newSingleThreadExecutor(); private volatile boolean flag = true; public void stop() { flag = false; executor.shutdownNow(); try { executor.awaitTermination(100, TimeUnit.DAYS); } catch (InterruptedException ex) { log.error(null, ex); } } public Runnable getRunnable() { return new Runnable() { public void run() { while (flag && !Thread.currentThread().isInterrupted()) { // What if inside fun(), someone try to clear the interrupt flag? // Say, through Thread.interrupted(). We will stuck in this loop // forever. fun(); } } }; }

  • hibernate insert to a collection causes a delete then all the items in the collection to be inserted

    - by Mark
I have a many to may relationship CohortGroup and Employee. Any time I insert an Employee into the CohortGroup hibernate deletes the group from the resolution table and inserts all the members again, plus the new one. Why not just add the new one? The annotation in the Group: @ManyToMany(cascade = { PERSIST, MERGE, REFRESH }) @JoinTable(name="MYSITE_RES_COHORT_GROUP_STAFF", joinColumns={@JoinColumn(name="COHORT_GROUPID")}, inverseJoinColumns={@JoinColumn(name="USERID")}) public List<Employee> getMembers(){ return members; } The other side in the Employee @ManyToMany(mappedBy="members",cascade = { PERSIST, MERGE, REFRESH } ) public List<CohortGroup> getMemberGroups(){ return memberGroups; } Code snipit Employee emp = edao.findByID(cohortId); CohortGroup group = cgdao.findByID(Long.decode(groupId)); group.getMembers().add(emp); cgdao.persist(group); below is the sql reported in the log delete from swas.MYSITE_RES_COHORT_GROUP_STAFF where COHORT_GROUPID=? insert into swas.MYSITE_RES_COHORT_GROUP_STAFF (COHORT_GROUPID, USERID) values (?, ?) insert into swas.MYSITE_RES_COHORT_GROUP_STAFF (COHORT_GROUPID, USERID) values (?, ?) insert into swas.MYSITE_RES_COHORT_GROUP_STAFF (COHORT_GROUPID, USERID) values (?, ?) insert into swas.MYSITE_RES_COHORT_GROUP_STAFF (COHORT_GROUPID, USERID) values (?, ?) insert into swas.MYSITE_RES_COHORT_GROUP_STAFF (COHORT_GROUPID, USERID) values (?, ?) insert into swas.MYSITE_RES_COHORT_GROUP_STAFF (COHORT_GROUPID, USERID) values (?, ?) This seams really inefficient and is causing some issues. If sevral requests are made to add an employee to the group then some get over written.

  • Text input for multi-valued attribute

    - by Sean
I need to create an input form that will allow a user to enter any number of values for a particular attribute. I've tried several approaches, all of which seem to have various levels of failure. The latest model bean looks something like: public class Product { private String name; private String[] tags; ...accessors... } The input fields look something like: <h:inputText id="name" value="#{product.name}"></h:inputText> <h:inputText id="tag0" value="#{product.tag[0]}"></h:inputText> My plan was to allow the user is to use javascript to add additional form fields as needed. This type of setup gives me a 'Target Unreachable' error. What am I missing? I am using JSF 1.1 on WebSphere 6.1

  • All possible paths in a cyclic undirected graph

    - by Elias
I'm trying to develop an algorithm that identifies all possible paths between two nodes in a graph, as in this example. in fact, i just need to know which nodes appear in all existing paths. in the web only got references about DFS, A* or dijkstra, but i think they doesn't work in this case. Does anyone know how to solve it?

  • Address calling class

    - by Samuel
I have an abstract class Moveable with the method abstract void move() which is extended by the class Bullet and the abstract class Character, and Character is extended by the class Survivor and the class Zombie. In Survivor and Bullet the move() method doesnt require any parameters while in the class Zombie the move() method depends on the actual position of the survivor. The survivor and multiple zombies are created in the class Gui. I wanted to access the survivor in Zombie - what's the best way of doing this? In Gui i wrote a method getSurvivor() but i don't see how to access this method in Zombie? I am aware that as a workaround i could just pass a [Survivor survivor] as parameter in move() and ignore it in Bullet and Survivor, but that feels so ... bad practice.

  • How did this get 8?

    - by David
    Here's the code: class qual { public static int fibonacci(int n) { if (n == 0 || n == 1) { return 1; } else { return fibonacci(n-1) + fibonacci(n-2); } } public static void main(String[] arg) { System.out.println(fibonacci(5)); } } The output was 8. The output should be 8 but when I look at this I think it should be 7 ((5-1) +(5-2)). Why was the output 8? I think the reasoning behind getting 8 will make recursion maybe stop being confusing for me.

  • How to design authentication in a thick client, to be fail safe?

    - by Jay
Here's a use case: I have a desktop application (built using Eclipse RCP) which on start, pops open a dialog box with 'UserName' and 'Password' fields in it. Once the end user, inputs his UserName and Password, a server is contacted (a spring remote-servlet, with the client side being a spring httpclient: similar to the approaches here.), and authentication is performed on the server side. A few questions related to the above mentioned scenario: If said this authentication service were to go down, what would be the best way to handle further proceedings? Authentication is something that I cannot do away with. Would running the desktop client in a "limited" mode be a good idea? For instance, important features/menus/views will be disabled, rest of the application will be accessible? Should I have a back up authentication service running on a different machine, working as a backup? What are the general best-practices in this scenario? I remember reading about google gears and how it would let you edit and do stuff offline - should something like this be designed? Please let me know your design/architectural comments/suggestions. Appreciate your help.
