  • Could not use domain name instead of static IP

    Hi, I'm working with some partners in the UK. My office is in Vietnam. We are having a network problem: My partner can access an internal website using the domain name, e.g. http://website.name, but I can only access that website using the direct IP, e.g. 192.168.1.85. I can not ping that web server using "ping website.name" but it works if I using "ping 192.168.1.85". I want to use the domain name. Please help.

    When I try to run something with wine, nothing happens! I have many had problems with Ubuntu so I have tried to get Windows 8 back on the computer, but because Ubuntu can't run exe files I can't open the installer. Furthermore my computer can't boot from a CD/DVD anymore after I installed Ubuntu, it turns up with a black screen with a blinking marker at the upper left corner of the screen and after 10 minutes it says something like Can't boot from the selected media device - select another How do I get Windows back?

  • HELP! Problem Can't do anyting on ubuntu 13.10

    I upgraded from ubuntu 13.04 to 13.10 but when i open my laptop it freezes before i can login ant the gnome 3 splash screen. alt ctrl + f(any) not working. the only thing i can do is manualy power off. I tryied everything on recovery mode screen and some stuff about grub (nomodeset quiet splash stuff i found at this forum) but nothing is working. I can't reach tty's to login so i can't reinstall drivers for my ati radeon mobility hd 5xxx. that is my secs http://www.sony.co.uk/support/en/product/VPCEB2E1E_WI/specifications .

  • Too Many ESTABLISHED connection from a single IP address in Apache

    netstat -ntp |grep 80 shows too many ESTABLISHED connection from single IP address. Around 300 of them and it is not an attack and user is using a 2G connection to access Apache. This is the case with other 2G connections also. As a result of this Apache is running out of children. Earlier it was showing too many close_wait and after enabling tcp_tw_reuse and tcp_tw-recycle there is not much close_wait but the number of ESTABLISHED connections increased. We are using Ubuntu 11.04 having 48 GB ram keepalive On keepalive timeout 10 max clients 800 max-request-perchild 4000 timeout 300 I have set syn_ack to 1 and syn_retries to 2. On wifi there is no such issue. Connections are closing properly, but with 2G connections Apache is running out of children and too many ESTABLISHED connection. also i have tried setting timeout from default 300 to 30,but since our project is image hosting for mobile phones,clients couldn't upload images properly as they are getting frequent time out.Also there were a lot of 408 messages so changed it to the default 300

    My workplace uses an Ascom IP DECT base station (IPBS1), and Ascom handsets as well. We're looking to replace some broken handsets; the ones by Ascom, however, are rather expensive, and we're not altogether satisfied with their quality. I've been looking at handsets from other manufacturers, which are much less expensive - however, since I don't know anything about DECT, VOIP, etc, I don't know if they will work with the base. I've perused the base's manual, but found nothing on handset compatibility. How can I find out what kind of handset works with our base?

  • 3D Mesh Collision Help

    I am new to XNA (I have only been working in it for a countable number of weeks) as well as to these forums (I have only made 1-2 other posts), so this may seem like a strange request, but I am wondering if anybody knows about more advanced collision in XNA. So far I have only been able to figure out BoundingSphere's which seem to be the simplest of the methods, and I was thinking of looking more into BoundingBoxes because the game I have is a 2-3D platformer. The problem I realized was that if I wanted to get any more advanced than stages in the shape of a box, I would face some immediate dilemmas. I was hoping somebody here was knowledgeable on the subject and could inform me where I could get started learning how to do something like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ekMD_Gtt8d4 Although the game in this video isn't very pretty, the mesh collision looks like what I'm looking for.   • Ubuntu crashed during the update to 12.04, not I can't recover my files, help please

    I'm pretty new to Linux and I've only installed Ubuntu as I couldn't afford to buy Windows, worked well and I liked it. But I chose to upgrade it to the newest version after a prompt. The update froze and the machine was unresponsive which forced me to hard reboot it. Now nothing seems to load and I've reached my wits end (mainly cos I'm lost in all the command lines). I've decided to try and recover my data from the hard drive, only two folders, by selecting the try Ubuntu option when I insert the OS CD into the machine. The problem I'm experiencing now is it won't let me copy my folders, I get a 'The folder contents could not be displayed. You do not have the permissions necessary to view the contents of "folder_name".' Does anyone know how I can recover this data?

    Maybe I am missing something but all I want to do is be able to access and transfer files from one folder on my main computer to my htpc. Both computers are running Ubuntu 14.04. I followed the instructions on this video but I am not sure if I need to do something on the HTPC to access my Movie folder. I went into nautilus then Browse Network Windows Network Workgroup but I get an error and it won't let me access it. Is there something I am doing wrong?

    So far i've been trying to make a RTS in pygame but, i feel like 2d is not enough and pygame has me do a lot of stuff that i would not like doing. What i would like doing is working on the AI gameplay and such and not worying too much about how to display stuff,physics and the like too much. So far Unity has boo which is supposed to be similar to python i wonder if that could work. How similar is it to python should i use this?     I have an citrix application server in SiteB and I have a Farm in SiteA. We want to add this server into that Farm in SiteB, and access it from the internet via web interface. SiteA and SiteB are connected via VPN. But we would like to do that in a way the ICA traffic goes directly to the application server public IP (behind NAT) in siteB without using siteA and the VPN to route this traffic. Do you know if this is posible? Maybe there is a way to change the host in the ica file for this server in the webinterface (without editing manually each time)? We are using Citrix 4.5.     Network Setup: 10.0.0.1 Router: to internet 10.0.0.70 Server: Ubuntu based server,default gateway is 10.0.0.1 10.0.0.51 PC I created a PPTP connection(interface: ppp0) on Server to a machine on the internet, what I want to do is route all the traffic from certain IP address(10.0.0.51) through the PPTP connection and then to the internet. What I did are: Set the gateway on PC(10.0.0.51) as 10.0.0.70 Enabled ipv4 forward on 10,0,0,70 Add the masquerade rule to iptable: iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -o ppp0 -s 10.0.0.51 -j MASQUERADE After that, it seems none of the traffic from 10.0.0.51 be redirected to ppp0, instead these traffic are still going through 10.0.0.1 directly. Any thoughts on it?
