  • Finding records when using has_many through associations

    - by winter sun
I have two models, Worker and Project, and they are connected with has_many through association. I manage to find all the projects which are related to a specific worker by writing the following code: worker=Worker.find_by_id("some_id") worker.projects but I want the projects that I get to be only active projects (in the project model I have a status field) I tried to do something like worker.projects(:status_id=>'active') but it didn’t work for me. Can somebody tell me how I can do this?

  • Finding all the URL requests from a firefox extension

    - by user303052
I am building a firefox extension. In this extension, I want to see the URLs of any new webpage that the user visits. The webpage can be in a different tab or window than the current tab that the user is viewing (this should also catch the URL of pop-ups). Is there a way to find when firefox makes a GET or POST request and grab the URL? An alternative that I am trying to avoid is going through all the tabs and manually check to see if they have loaded a new page. Thanks

  • Path Inclusion/Global variable not working?

    - by Dan LaManna
Simply put, my config file includes my database class, and the config file has in it: global $db; $db = new database(DB_HOST, DB_NAME, DB_USER, DB_PASS); That file is root/config.php Moving on to root/functions/func.newpage.php doesn't have any includes/requires, and uses $db-classfunction since the file I'm working with: root/newpage.php - requires the config file, as well as func.newpage.php. However I still come up with: Undefined variable db. Anything you guys are seeing I'm not? Thanks! Let me know if more details are needed.

  • finding elements with text using jQuery

    - by Tim Sheiner
I want to create an array of all the html elements within a div that contain text strings, such as <p>some string</p>. I don't want to get hold of the strings, I want the array items to be the elements (in the example, would be the p node). I do not know before hand what the strings will be, so I can't look for string values to match. I also don't want empty text nodes to end up in the array. Thanks!

  • finding elements in python association lists efficiently

    - by user248237
I have a set of lists that look like this: conditions = [ ["condition1", ["sample1", "sample2", "sample3"]], ["condition2", ["sample4", "sample5", "sample6"], ...] how can I do the following things efficiently and elegantly in Python? Find all the elements in a certain condition? e.g. get all the samples in condition2. Right now I can do: for cond in conditions: cond_name, samples = cond if cond_name == requested_cond: return samples but that's clunky. Find the ordered union of a list of conditions? E.g. ordered_union(["condition1", "condition2"], conditions) should return: ["sample1", "sample2", "sample3", "sample4", "sample5", "sample6"] How can I do this efficiently in Python? There are probably clever one liners?

  • jQuery finding 'nth-child' value

    - by Rich
Hi, I have a ul set up as navigation, which I'll be animating on hover. As all the nav items are different widths, I'll be storing their default widths in an Array, so that on hover out, these widths can be passed back in to the animate method. What I need is a way to find what 'nth-child' the element is in order to retrieve the correct width from the array. Something like: var count = $(this).count(); //obviously this isn't right! So that then I can do: $(this).animate({'width':array(count)}, 400); Any suggestions would help me a lot - and if there's a better way to do this kind of thing I'd gladly accept pointers!

  • Recursive solution to finding patterns

    - by user2997162
I was solving a problem on recursion which is to count the total number of consecutive 8's in a number. For example: input: 8801 output: 2 input: 801 output: 0 input: 888 output: 3 input: 88088018 output:4 I am unable to figure out the logic of passing the information to the next recursive call about whether the previous digit was an 8. I do not want the code but I need help with the logic. For an iterative solution, I could have used a flag variable, but in recursion how do I do the work which flag variable does in an iterative solution. Also, it is not a part of any assignment. This just came to my mind because I am trying to practice coding using recursion.

  • finding if an anniversary is coming up in n days in MySql

    - by user151841
I have a table with anniversary dates. I want a query that returns me rows of anniversaries coming up in the next 10 days. For instance: birthdate --------- 1965-10-10 1982-05-25 SELECT birthdate FROM Anniversaries WHERE mystical_magical_mumbo_jumbo <= 10 +------------+ | birthdate | +------------+ | 1982-05-25 | +------------+ 1 row in set (0.01 sec) I'd like to keep the query in the form x <= 10, because I'll use that number 10 in other parts of the query, and if I set it to a variable, I can change it once everywhere by changing the variable, and not have to re-write the query.

  • Finding an odd perfect number

    - by Coin Bird
    I wrote these two methods to determine if a number is perfect. My prof wants me to combine them to find out if there is an odd perfect number. I know there isn't one(that is known), but I need to actually write the code to prove that. The issue is with my main method. I tested the two test methods. I tried debugging and it gets stuck on the number 5, though I can't figure out why. Here is my code: public class Lab6 { public static void main (String[]args) { int testNum = 3; while (testNum != sum_of_divisors(testNum) && testNum%2 != 0) testNum++; } public static int sum_of_divisors(int numDiv) { int count = 1; int totalDivisors = 0; while (count < numDiv) if (numDiv%count == 0) { totalDivisors = totalDivisors + count; count++; } else count++; return totalDivisors; } public static boolean is_perfect(int numPerfect) { int count = 1; int totalPerfect = 0; while (totalPerfect < numPerfect) { totalPerfect = totalPerfect + count; count++; } if (numPerfect == totalPerfect) return true; else return false; } }

  • Finding the closest match

    - by doublescorpio
    I Have an object with a set of parameters like: var obj = new {Param1 = 100; Param2 = 212; Param3 = 311; param4 = 11; Param5 = 290;} On the other side i have a list of object: var obj1 = new {Param1 = 1221; Param2 = 212; Param3 = 311; param4 = 11; Param5 = 290;} var obj3 = new {Param1 = 35; Param2 = 11; Param3 = 319; param4 = 211; Param5 = 790;} var obj4 = new {Param1 = 126; Param2 = 218; Param3 = 2; param4 = 6; Param5 = 190;} var obj5 = new {Param1 = 213; Param2 = 121; Param3 = 61; param4 = 11; Param5 = 29;} var obj7 = new {Param1 = 161; Param2 = 21; Param3 = 71; param4 = 51; Param5 = 232;} var obj9 = new {Param1 = 891; Param2 = 58; Param3 = 311; param4 = 21; Param5 = 590;} var obj11 = new {Param1 = 61; Param2 = 212; Param3 = 843; param4 = 89; Param5 = 210;} What is the best (easiest) algorithm to find the closest match for the first obj in the listed objects?

  • Python finding index in a array

    - by NIH
I am trying to see if a company from a list of companies is in a line in a file. If it is I utilize the index of that company to increment a variable in another array. The following is my python code. I keep getting the following error: AttributeError: 'set' object has no attribute 'index'. I cannot figure out what is going wrong and think the error is the line that is surrounded by **. companies={'white house black market', 'macy','nordstrom','filene','walmart'} positives=[0 for x in xrange(len(companies))] negatives=[0 for x in xrange(len(companies))] for line in f: for company in companies: if company in line.lower(): words=tokenize.word_tokenize(line) bag=bag_of_words(words) classif=classifier.classify(bag) if classif=='pos': **indice =companies.index(company)** positives[indice]+=1 elif classif=='neg': **indice =companies.index(company)** negatives[indice]+=1
