  • Is there a version of postActionEvent for KeyEvent (specifically for a JTextArea)?

    I'm writing a program that contains multiple JTextFields and 2 JTextAreas within an input panel. I have a submit button on the bottom. I have it set up so when a user types something into each field (including the JTextAreas) and hits the Enter key, it updates a text file, and when they press the submit button it updates the file then outputs a new version of it in the local directory. If the user presses Enter in any of the fields, it validates their input, however, I want to re-validate all fields when they press the submit button. Each field (again, JTextAreas included) has it's own validation check within its ActionListener or KeyListener (for the JTextAreas). It's easy enough to use postActionEvent() for the JTextFields, but is there a similar method for the JTextAreas to force fire a KeyEvent? I don't want to duplicate code and consume memory by re-writing the validation for those 2 Components inside the ActionEvent for the JButton. Unfortunately, I can't provide a sample because I'm writing the program on a classified machine (PC).

  • Wix Installer - How to customize FatalError dialog based on server actions

    I need to display different messages in the FatalError dialog depending on what caused the installation to fail. My first attempt was to make the FatalError description text point to a property, and then set this property's value when an error appeared. The problem is that this dialog runs in the InstallUISequence table and the problematic actions in the InstallExecuteSequence table, and apparently the values that are set during InstallExecuteSequence are not copied back to the UI, and thus I'm losing them when the dialog is created. Any ideas on how to solve this? Thanks!

    Is there an easier way to update an object with L2S other then doing it property by property?   • JQuery Delegate and using traveral options in function

    I am having trouble figuring out how to use the JQuery delegate function to do what I require. Basically, I need to allow users to add Panels (i.e. divs) to a form dynamically by selecting a button. Then when a user clicks a button within a given Panel, I want to be able to to something to that Panel (like change the color in this example). Unfortunately, it seems that references to the JQuery traversing functions don't work in this instance. Can anybody explain how to achieve this effect?   • How to display a tree of objects in a JTree?

    Imagine a collection of objects such as World, Country, Region and City. World contains a list of Country objects, Country contains a list of Region objects etc. I would like to represent this structure in a JTree and be able to add, remove and move objects around the tree. Can I easily create a TableModel from this structure? World would be the root object and I would need to perform some object-specific rendering. Any one know of an appropriate tutorial?

My concern is, I know I'd have to specify the tag in the manifest to declare that the app uses location services, but I still want the app to function for those without. I just want to check and, if the service is available, use it; otherwise just ignore that one feature. Thanks.

    I am aware that there are umpteen similar questions here, and on other forums, but none of them have been able to help me. I simply want to install mySQL on my mac (running snow leopard 10.6.5) for use with Python. So far I have: 1) downloaded and installed [mysql-5.5.8-osx10.6-x86_64.dmg] (I have also accidentally downloaded and installed [mysql-5.1.54-osx10.6-x86_64.dmg]) 2) downloaded and installed [mySQL-python-1.2.3] 3) added the following to my .bash_profile: [export PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/mysql/bin] but when i run:import mySQLdb in terminal I am met with the following message: Traceback (most recent call last): File "<stdin>", line 1, in <module> ImportError: No module named mySQLdb Can anyone help?

  • Very Different Execution Times of SQL Query in C# and SQL Server Management Studio

    I have a simple SQL query that when run from C# takes over 30 seconds then times-out every time, whereas when run on SQL Server Management Studio successfully completes instantly. In the latter case, a query execution plan reveals nothing troubling, and the execution time is spread nicely through a few simple operations. I've run 'EXEC sp_who2' while the query is running from C#, and it is listed as taking 29,000 milliseconds of CPU time, and is not blocked by anything. I have no idea how to begin solving this. Does anyone have some insight? The query is: SELECT c.lngId, ...   • Is there a way to load an existing connection string for Linq to SQL from an app.config file?

    I'm running into a really annoying problem with my Linq to SQL project. When I add everything in under the web project everything goes as expected and I can tell it to use my existing connection string stored in the web.config file and the Linq code pulls directly from the ConfigurationManager. This all turns ugly once I move the code into its own project. I’ve created an app.config file, put the connection string in there as it was in the web.config but when I try to add another table in the IDE keeps forcing me to either hardcode the connection string or creates a Settings file and puts it in there, which then adds a new entry into the app.config file with a new name. Is there a way keep my Linq code in its own project yet still refer back to my config file without the IDE continuously hardcoding the connection string or creating the Settings file? I’m converting part of my DAL over to use Linq to SQL so I’d like to use the existing connection string that our old code is using as well as keep the value in a common location, and one spot, instead of in a number of spots. Manually changing the mode to WebSettings instead of AppSettings works untill I try to add a new table, then it goes back to hardcoding the value or recreating the Settings file. I also tried to switch the project type to be a web project and then rename my app.config to web.config and then everything works as I’d like it to. I’m just not sure if there are any downfalls to keeping this as a web project since it really isn't one. The project only contains the Linq to SQL code and an implementation of my repository classes. My project layout looks like this Website -connectionString.config -web.config (refers to connectionString.config) Middle Tier -Business Logic -Repository Interfaces -etc. DAL -Linq to SQL code -Existing SPROC code -connectionString.config (linked from the web poject) -app.config (refers to connectionString.config)

  • Checking for nulls in ASP.NET MVC Controllers

    Another opinion question: What is the proper (in your opinion) to check for nulls in an MVC controller. For instance, if you have an edit controller that fetches a record from the db based on an id, what do you do if that record is not found? I found this article, but I'm not sure I like that method. Do you just check for it with an if statement and redirect to a 404 page? What solution do you use?

  • Any recommended VC++ settings for better PDB analysis on release builds

    Are there any VC++ settings I should know about to generate better PDB files that contain more information? I have a crash dump analysis system in place based on the project crashrpt. Also, my production build server has the source code installed on the D:\, but my development machine has the source code on the C:\. I entered the source path in the VC++ settings, but when looking through the call stack of a crash, it doesn't automatically jump to my source code. I believe if I had my dev machine's source code on the D:\ it would work.

    I have a task to validate addresses entered into a system I am currently creating. The system requires that address entered are validated against a valid data source. In the UK the dataset comes from the Royal Mail and is expensive to access. The data needed is post code info for the whold of europe to start with accessed by an API into the web application. There are a number of companies that offer this service, QAS Capscan Postcode anywhere These all offer the service I require. However this is expensive and in some cases not a complete data set. e.g. not Ireland I was also wondering if there would be a way to utalis the google maps API to validate this data via postal code and country. Would the google maps method be possible or do I have to go down the line of one of these expensive companies? Any thoughts on what line I should take.

    In my database I have a Person table and an Event table (parties, meetings, &c.). This many-to-many relationship is represented through an Invitation table. Each Person can have many Invitations. Each Event can also have many Invitations.     I'm trying to work out a good method to manage code changes on a large project with multiple teams. We use subversion at the moment, but I want more flexibility in building a new release than I seem to be able to get with subversion. Here's roughly I want: for each developer to create easily identifiable patches for the project. Each patch delivers a complete user story (a releasable feature or fix). It might encompass many changes to many files. developers are able to easily apply and remove their own and other patches to facilitate testing release manager selects the patches to be used in the next release into a new branch branch is tested, fixes merged in, and ultimately merged into live teams can then pull these changes back down into their sandboxes. I'm looking at stacked git as a way of achieving this, but what other tools or techniques can deliver this sort of workflow?

    In Eclipse (and Flash/Flex Builder) you get the option with Ctrl+Shift+F to do a file search and look for a regular expression. Would be a real handy thing to know. I want to find the word negate if it appears in a Flex/java comment like the following: // It was negated because or /* The negate option was.... */ or /** * We have to negate the value */ Any ideas?     There is good documentation out there on testing ActionMailer send methods which deliver mail. But I'm unable to figure out how to test a receive method that is used to parse incoming mail. Is there an existing library for .net which provides this type of functionality? I guess one option would be to use interop services to call GNU readline. But is there a native option?

  • NHibernate will not insert a record

    I have an application that is now 4+ years old that is exhibiting some odd behavior on our latest deployment. The application uses nHibernate for all inserts / updates / selects, etc. We are currently using .NET 2.0, and nHibernate 1.2 (I know, we need to upgrade) This deployment is on Windows 2008 Server x64, IIS 7.5 - what I have seen so far is that the application runs, but is unable to insert or update records in the DB - reads seem fine so far, but writes are a problem. SOME writes actually work, inserts into some small tables, but most never even make it to the DB. Using SQL Profiler, the insert / updates never make it to the server, and turning log4net up to DEBUG, and show_sql true - the select statements appear, but the insert / update statements never make it into the log at all, and never show up at the server. What's even more odd is that the application seems to be oblivious to this - the commandandclose runs without exception (open session in view with an httpmodule), the domain objects come back with uuid's generated, etc. but never get persisted. Certainly an upgrade is due, but I would hate to try it during a deployment, and without time to accurately test the app. Any ideas?
