  • Ping results "echo'd" out to a text file on Windows XP machine has unusual character rather than the outcome

    - by Richard Rice
    Here is the situation. I have a Windows XP machine that I would like to ping another machine and send the output to a text file for review at a later date. This is quite a standard question with several answers on this website and others. The issue I have is that when reviewing the txt file afterwards, the outcome of the ping appears as a strange character. A screenshot of the text file output can be found at the following link. Please note its the first 8 ping outputs that have a strange character. The %%B was me hoping that would output what I wanted! (Cannot upload image to any hosting websites because the company I work for seems to be afraid of them ....) Here is the code I'm using: @echo off For /f "tokens=1-2 delims=/:" %%b in ("%TIME%") do (set mytime=%%a%%b) PING 1.1.1.1 -n 1 -w 1000 >NUL for /f "tokens=*" %%A in ('ping 192.168.5.2 -w 10 -n 1') do (echo %date% %time% %%A >> C:\Temp\Ping_Checks\GarrickSide.txt && GOTO Ping ) :Ping PING 1.1.1.1 -n 1 -w 1000 >NUL for /f "tokens=* skip=2" %%A in ('ping 192.168.5.2 -w 10 -n 1') do (echo %date% %time% %%A >> C:\Temp\Ping_Checks\GarrickSide.txt && GOTO Ping ) This code works fine on a Windows 7 machine, but not on a Windows XP machine. It appears that the echo command isn't outputting the right data, but I don't understand this enough to correct it. Can anyone spot where I'm going wrong?

  • XNA move from start position to target position exactly in 3D

    - by robasaurus
    If I have a list of positions that map out a path a character should follow. What would be the best way to move at a constant speed to each position making sure the character lands exactly at each position before moving onto the next? For example the character is at position A, we then queue up position B and position C. The character cannot move towards position C until it reaches position B exactly. It would be great if the solution worked at slower frame rates/update speeds as well.

  • How to find first non-repetitive character from a string?

    - by masato-san
    I've spent half day trying to figure out this and finally I got working solution. However, I feel like this can be done in simpler way. I think this code is not really readable. Problem: Find first non-repetitive character from a string. $string = "abbcabz" In this case, the function should output "c". The reason I use concatenation instead of $input[index_to_remove] = '' in order to remove character from a given string is because if I do that, it actually just leave empty cell so that my return value $input[0] does not not return the character I want to return. For instance, $str = "abc"; $str[0] = ''; echo $str; This will output "bc" But actually if I test, var_dump($str); it will give me: string(3) "bc" Here is my intention: Given: input while first char exists in substring of input { get index_to_remove input = chars left of index_to_remove . chars right of index_to_remove if dupe of first char is not found from substring remove first char from input } return first char of input Code: function find_first_non_repetitive2($input) { while(strpos(substr($input, 1), $input[0]) !== false) { $index_to_remove = strpos(substr($input,1), $input[0]) + 1; $input = substr($input, 0, $index_to_remove) . substr($input, $index_to_remove + 1); if(strpos(substr($input, 1), $input[0]) == false) { $input = substr($input, 1); } } return $input[0]; }

  • Boost::Asio - Remove the "null"-character in the end of tcp packets.

    - by shump
    I'm trying to make a simple msn client mostly for fun but also for educational purposes. And I started to try some tcp package sending and receiving using Boost Asio as I want cross-platform support. I have managed to send a "VER"-command and receive it's response. However after I send the following "CVR"-command, Asio casts an "End of file"-error. After some further researching I found by packet sniffing that my tcp packets to the messenger server got an extra "null"-character (Ascii code: 00) at the end of the message. This means that my VER-command gets an extra character in the end which I don't think the messenger server like and therefore shuts down the connection when I try to read the CVR response. This is how my package looks when sniffing it, (it's Payload): (Hex:) 56 45 52 20 31 20 4d 53 4e 50 31 35 20 43 56 52 30 0a 0a 00 (Char:) VER 1 MSNP15 CVR 0... and this is how Adium(chat client for OS X)'s package looks: (Hex:) 56 45 52 20 31 20 4d 53 4e 50 31 35 20 43 56 52 30 0d 0a (Char:) VER 1 MSNP15 CVR 0.. So my question is if there is any way to remove the null-character in the end of each package, of if I've misunderstood something and used Asio in a wrong way. My write function (slightly edited) looks lite this: int sendVERMessage() { boost::system::error_code ignored_error; char sendBuf[] = "VER 1 MSNP15 CVR0\r\n"; boost::asio::write(socket, boost::asio::buffer(sendBuf), boost::asio::transfer_all(), ignored_error); if(ignored_error) { cout << "Failed to send to host!" << endl; return 1; } cout << "VER message sent!" << endl; return 0; } And here's the main documentation on the msn protocol I'm using. Hope I've been clear enough.

  • How do you reference a custom object outside of the function it was created in with JavaScript?

    - by Jack Roscoe
    Hi, I'm currently using JavaScript and jQuery. I have an function which executes once the document is ready, and inside that I am creating objects which contain various attributes. Within the same function, I can access these new object's attributes no problem, however once I'm inside a different function I can't seem to reference them properly and therefore cannot access the objects or the information inside them. What's the correct way to reference the attributes of an object which was created in a different function to the one looking for the information?

  • How do I add a reference to an assembly?

    - by Gold
    I am trying to run some PDF to text C# code. I have references to 2 DLLs and I get this error when I try to run the program: the type 'java.io.File' is defined in an assembly that is not referenced. You must add a reference to assembly 'IKVM.GNU.Classpath, Version=0.20.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=13235d27fcbfff58'. How do I add a reference to this assembly?

  • How do I dynamically reference incremented properties in C#?

    - by Jeff Blankenburg
    I have properties called reel1, reel2, reel3, and reel4. How can I dynamically reference these properties by just passing an integer (1-4) to my method? Specifically, I am looking for how to get an object reference without knowing the name of the object. In Javascript, I would do: temp = eval("reel" + tempInt); and temp would be equal to reel1, the object. Can't seem to figure this simple concept out in C#.

  • Why is a c++ reference considered safer than a pointer?

    - by anand.arumug
    When the c++ compiler generates very similar assembler code for a reference and pointer, why is using references preferred (and considered safer) compared to pointers? I did see Difference between pointer variable and reference variable in C++ which discusses the differences between them. EDIT-1: I was looking at the assembler code generated by g++ for this small program: int main(int argc, char* argv[]) { int a; int &ra = a; int *pa = &a; }

  • Would the instance reference parameters passed into the static methods get garbage collected?

    - by 123Developer
    I know that the static objects in .Net managed world are loaded in Loader Heap which is never going to be garbage collected. What happens to the instance reference parameters passed to a static methods. Are they get garbage collected once the static function executed completely Or they are going to live forever as those instance reference variables are once passed to static method? I am really confused this evening; Please guide me. Thanks and regards 123Developer.

  • jquery - How to reference two div elements for a single function?

    - by Ben
    I Have a function that references a specific input text box. I would like to extend the function to be used by two specific input text boxes. Rather than duplicate the code for the other text box, can anyone advise on how to reference the other? Here it uses #Tags, but if i wanted it to reference #Tags2 also, how could I do that? $(function () { $('#Tags').tagSuggest({ separator: ", ", tagContainer: 'div', tags: ["tag1","tag2"] }); });

  • How to overcome Local Group Policy Editor's 1023 character limit?

    - by Louis
    I want to reorder the SSL Cipher Suite Order applied as part of KB2919355, prioritizing the forward secrecy suites above all else. Trying to do this with gpedit at Computer Configuration Administrative Templates Network SSL Configuration Settings SSL Cipher Suite Order is a problem because the new list goes over the tool's character limit. Is there anyway to overcome this limit so I don't have to keep the current priority or omit something from the list?

  • Can I use the character ñ in a sub-domain?

    - by nute
    We are launching our website in Spanish and are probably going to call it espanol.mydomain.com Since the real spelling is español, ideally we would allow people to type español.mydomain.com. Is that something that is possible today? Can we use this character in domains and sub-domains?

  • How can be changed the linux system's default character set?

    - by JPCF
    Hi, I'm working in a software development team using svn. Since many developer's computers are working using windows, text file codification has to be agreed with everyone. I decided to use Linux, and probably I will have to change my machine's default character codification. How can this be done in Linux? Thanks

  • How to tell the Browser the character encoding of a HTML website regardless of Server Content.-Type Headers?

    - by hakre
    I have a HTML page that correctly (the encoding of the physical on disk matches it) announces it's Content-Type: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"> <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content= "text/html; charset=utf-8"> <title> ... Opening the file from disk in browser (Google Chrome, Firefox) works fine. Requesting it via HTTP, the webserver sends a different Content-Type header: $ curl -I http:/example.com/file.html HTTP/1.1 200 OK Date: Fri, 19 Oct 2012 10:57:13 GMT ... Content-Type: text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1 (see last line). The browser then uses ISO-8859-1 to display which is an unwanted result. Is there a common way to override the server headers send to the browser from within the HTML document?

  • Is there a pattern or best practice for passing a reference type to multiple classes vs a static class?

    - by Dave
    My .NET application creates HTML files, and as such, the structure looks like variable myData BuildHomePage() variable graph = new BuildGraphPage(myData) variable table = BuildTablePage(myData) BuildGraphPage and BuildTablePage both require access data, the myData object. In the above example, I've passed the myData object to 2 constructors. This is what I'm doing now, in my current project. The myData object, and it's properties are all readonly. The problem is, the number of pages which will require this object has grown. In the real project, there are currently 4, but the new spec is to have about 20. Passing this object to the constructor of each new object and assigning it to a field is a little time consuming, but not a hardship! This poses the question whether it's better practice to continue as I have, or to refactor and create a new static class for myData which can be referenced from any where in my project. I guess my abilities to use Google are poor, because I did try and find an appropriate pattern as I am sure this type of design must be common place but my results returned nothing. Is there a pattern which is suited, or do best practices lean towards one implementation over another.
