  • 404 error for pages using a master page in IIS7

    Hello, I have developed my .net web app on XP using IIS6. It uses just plain old master pages, nothing fancy. No nested master page. When I deployed it to the server, which is IIS7, suddenly any page that implements a master page, will not be rendered. Gives a 404 error instead. Any ideas, about confguration that I need to specify in IIS7 that is not in IIS6? Thanks

    I am looking for a way to insert javascript code block to end of ASP.NET page. Page.ClientScript.RegisterClientScriptBlock(typeof(Page), "videoyuGoster", sScript, true); is appending to body but js codes are always requesting some js files didn't load or some functions are below of the script. How can i append scripts that i generated dynamically to the bottom of body? Thanks for your help.

    Apart from blocking other threads reading from the cache what other problems should I be thinking about when locking the cache insert method for a public facing website. The actual data retrieval and insert into the cache should take no more than 1 second, which we can live with. More importantly i don't want multiple thread potentially all hitting the Insert method at the same time.     I want to be able to maintain certain objects between application restarts. To do that, I want to write specific cached items out to disk in Global.asax Application_End() function and re-load them back on Application_Start(). I currently have a cache helper class, which uses the following method to return the cached value: return HttpContext.Current.Cache[key]; Problem: during Application_End(), HttpContext.Current is null since there is no web request (it's an automated cleanup procedure) - therefore, I cannot access .Cache[] to retrieve any of the items to save to disk. Question: how can I access the cache items during Application_End()?

  • Accessing HttpRequest from Global.asax via a page

    I'm trying to get a property (ImpersonatePersonId) from a page in global.asax but get a HttpException saying 'Request is not available in this context'. I've been searching for some documentation on where in the pipeline the request is accessible, but as far as I can see all Microsoft can produce of documentation is one-liners like "PostRequestHandlerExecute: Occurs when the ASP.NET event handler finishes execution." which really doesn't give me much... I've tried placing the call in both Pre and PostRequestHandlerExceute but with the same result. I wonder if anyone with experience in this would be so kind as to tell me where the Request object is available. My code from global asax is below. ICanImpersonate page = HttpContext.Current.Handler as ICanImpersonate; ImpersonatedUser impersonatePerson = page != null ? page.ImpersonatePersonId : null; Response.Filter = new TagRewriter(Response, new TagProcessor(Context, impersonatePerson).Process); What I want to do is rewrite some HTML based on some request parameters.

We want to add another tab, which will host Silverlight content. Is it possible to add silverlight content in one of the tabs of a page? Any example links?     I have 2 squid servers load-balanced with F5 LTMs set up as a reverse proxy. My problem: origin server A hosts domains 1, 2, and 3 origin server B hosts domains 4 and 5. how can I set up squid so that it will cache all vhosts for both servers? my current config: cache_peer serverA parent 80 0 round-robin no-query originserver login=PASS If I add a second line: cache_peer serverB parent 80 0 round-robin no-query originserver login=PASS it only caches domains on serverB, requests for serverA content generate 404 errors. I don't use squid a whole lot, and all help is appreciated. thanks.

  • Why does a Non-existant page returns 302 status when using a custom 404 page in asp.net

    I have setup custom 404 page custom404.aspx that returns a 404 Not Found error correctly, however the non-existant page that was initially requested returns a 302 Found status. So when I test thispagedoesnotexist.aspx, it returns a 302 Found then the custom404.aspx loads and returns a 404 Not Found status. I want to make sure that search spiders/bots understand that the requested page does not exist and should not show up in any search results. Is this the case? Cheers

    I have a python method that has a deterministic result. It takes a long time to run and generates a large output: def time_consuming_method(): # lots_of_computing_time to come up with the_result return the_result I modify time_consuming_method from time to time, but I would like to avoid having it run again while it's unchanged. [Time_consuming_method only depends on functions that are immutable for the purposes considered here; i.e. it might have functions from Python libraries but not from other pieces of my code that I'd change.] The solution that suggests itself to me is to cache the output and also cache some "hash" of the function. If the hash changes, the function will have been modified, and we have to re-generate the output. Is this possible or a ridiculous idea?     I understand there isn't a way to interrogate a users IE settings directly due to security reasons, but is there a way to derive this answer with some other mechanism? I would like to stop a user from using my site if the setting "Check for newer versions of stored pages" is set to "Never". Any suggestions? Is there a way I could test for this using javascript? An example of what I am trying to accomplish is this: While it is not possible to check IE settings to see if you are running a popup blocker, that is a way to "test" for a popup blocker via javascript. I am looking for something similiar but for the cache setting, not the popup blocker.

  • Does the `Expires` HTTP header needs to be consistent across multiple cold-cache requests?

    I'm implementing a custom web server of a kind. And am looking into adding an Expires header support. However, I'm a little unsure of how exactly to implement it. If multiple cold-cache requests are being made to the same unchanged resource on the server and the server returned different Expires header (say it uses relative time to calculate the exact value of the Expires date e.g. +6 hours from the request time), does that invalidate the cache on all the proxy servers in-between as well? Or is it impossible to happen (per the spec)? Does the Expires HTTP header needs to be consistent across multiple cold-cache requests?

    Is there a way to speed up the population of a page with GWT's UI elements which are generated from data loaded from the datastore? Can I avoid making the unnecessary RPC call when the page is loaded? More details about the problem I am experiencing: There is a page on which I generate a table with names and buttons for a list of entities loaded from the datastore. There is an EntryPoint for the page and in its onModuleLoad() I do something like this: final FlexTable table = new FlexTable(); rpcAsyncService.getAllCandidates(new AsyncCallback<List<Candidate>>() { public void onSuccess(List<Candidate> candidates) { int row = 0; for (Candidate person : candidates) { table.setText(row, 0, person.getName()); table.setWidget(row, 1, new ToggleButton("Yes")); table.setWidget(row, 2, new ToggleButton("No")); row++; } } ... }); This works, but takes more than 30 seconds to load the page with buttons for 300 candidates. This is unacceptable. The app is running on Google App Engine and using the app engine's datastore.

    I'm loading profile pictures from Facebook, cache them on disk and load them into cells of a UITableView. Now I'm wondering, how I can find out when someone has changed his/her profile picture on Facebook that I have to load the new image from the web instead of using the one cached disk. The url of the image is always the same. Is there a lightweight way of doing this without downloading the image and comparing it to the local file?

    I am running weblogic 9. When I enter an incorrect URL below the application root I redirect 404 request to a customized error page. Eg. http://localhost:7001/myApp/non-existent redirects to my customised error page. Is there a way to do this for all incorrect URLs entered, not necessarily below the application root? Eg. http://localhost:7001/anything_non-existent should redirect to my customized error page, not the web-logic default one? Thanks
