  A quick question. How many copies of the same movie are kept in a video server (a video streaming server)? Suppose a particular video is at max requested by 1000 users at the same instant of time, how many copies would be sufficient so that parallel streams can be provided to each user? Ideally 1 copy would solve the purpose, but what is the optimum number keeping the bandwidth and simultaneous access in mind?

• OpenSSL 0.9.8k or higher on CentOS 5?

  I need to upgrade OpenSSL on my CentOS server to 0.9.8k or higher, however the latest version in the official CentOS repositories is 0.9.8e, much too old. Is there a 3rd party repository I can use that has newer versions of OpenSSL libraries? If not, can someone provide a quick walkthrough of compiling a newer version of OpenSSL for CentOS? I need it to replace the built in version, so the walkthrough would have to explain how to create a CentOS-compatible RPM.

• Windows 7 boot problem

  My system doesn't boot at all, upon starting it takes me to the Windows Error Recovery screen saying "Windows failed to start, a recent software or hardware change might be the cause" and gives two options Launch System Repair (Recommended) Start Windows normally But neither options work, upon clicking either of them, some progress bars get displayed and the screen just freezes on "Starting Windows". I tried booting from the Windows 7 disk but it too freezes on the "Starting Windows" screen. I even tried booting from ubuntu, slax linux, but they don't work too.

  I'm trudging through the Amazon docs for a quick answer, but while I'm looking I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask here. My client uses custom software that uses (wait for it) Microsoft Excel to store data as opposed a RDBMS. Either way, their server is outdated and they are interested in using Amazon's cloud services, but would installing this software be possible, or am I barking up the wrong tree? Links are welcome!   Hi guys, Is there a quick way to give the local administrator full rights to all folders on the C drive? I am having really hard time with that, I try to give it full rights to some folders (user profiles) but I can't even modify the NTFS permissions in some cases, I get "permission denied" Is there some soft of tutorial or script that will just give the administrator full rights on all folders in the C driver? • Puppet Exec fails executing useradd

  From what I understand, puppetd runs as root. As root, I launch puppetd --onetime --no-daemonize --verbose So I don't understand why this doesn't work: exec { "useradd -m testuser": path => "/bin:/usr/bin", } I just get: ...Exec[useradd -m testuser]/returns: change from notrun to 0 failed:useradd -m testuser returned 1 instead of one of [0] at... If I execute the command directly, it works just fine. Any ideas?

• Duplicate mails in unread mail view of Windows Live Mail

  When I get new mail and go to the "unread email" quick view I always see two version of the email, even though I definitely have only one such version in the inbox itself. Further, viewing the message via inbox usually marks only one of these copies as read, or sometimes none at all. I have no custom filters defined that could cause duplication. Any idea what's going on? PS This is the new version (2011).

There are some, mostly games, that when they become unresponsive won't allow you to switch to another app with Command-Tab, and I know no other way to close that app or get away from it. Command-W or Command-Q won't work either. Is there a shortcut to launch Activity Monitor, or Terminal, to kill the application?

I've looked here "C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned" And it seems the shortcuts are still there.   Webcams and headphones from Microsoft (like for example the LifeChat ZX-6000, in my case) have a button which can be used only with Windows Live Messenger, to answer a call. There is no option provided to configure it so that it would launch a program, or work in another communicator, in the given drivers. Is there a way to make it work with Skype, so that I can answer a call by pressing this button? Maybe there are other drivers?
