  • Can't call method in model table class using Doctrine with Zend Framework

    - by Jeremy Hicks
    I'm using Doctrine with Zend Framework. For my model, I'm using a base class, the regular class (which extends the base class), and a table class. In my table class, I've created a method which does a query for records with a specific value for one of the fields in my model. When I try and call this method from my controller, I get an error message saying, "Message: Unknown method Doctrine_Table::getCreditPurchases". Is there something else I need to do to call functions in my table class? Here is my code: class Model_CreditTable extends Doctrine_Table { /** * Returns an instance of this class. * * @return object Model_CreditTable */ public static function getInstance() { return Doctrine_Core::getTable('Model_Credit'); } public function getCreditPurchases($id) { $q = $this->createQuery('c') ->where('c.buyer_id = ?', $id); return $q->fetchArray(); } } // And then in my controller method I have... $this->view->credits = Doctrine_Core::getTable('Model_Credit')->getCreditPurchases($ns->id);

  • Activator.CreateInstance with type name as string and including parameters

    - by Kelly
    I am working in .Net 3.5, looking at all the various constructors for Activator.CreateInstance. I want to create an instance of a class, calling a particular constructor. I do not have the class type, only its name. I have the following, which works, but actually winds up calling the parameterless constructor first, then the one I want. This is not a terribly big deal, but the parameterless constructor calls a rather busy base constructor, and the constructor I want to call does, too. In other words, given a type, calling CreateInstance with parameters is easy (only the last two lines below), but given only a type name, is there a better way than this? ObjectHandle oh = Activator.CreateInstance( "MyDllName", "MyNS." + "MyClassName" ); object o = oh.Unwrap( ); object newObj = Activator.CreateInstance( o.GetType( ), new object[] { param1 } ); return ( IMyDesiredObject )newObject; Thanks!

  • Storing an arbitrary R object onto HDD?

    - by Harokitty
    I understand that we can export data matrices to csv or xlsx files. What about complex objects like lm? For example, in my work I might have a list of length 1000, each with a single lm() object. Each time I load R I have to wait a long time to populate the 1000 length list with these lm objects with a for loop or a lapply. I would rather just save the list somewhere on my HDD at the end of a session and open it at the start of the next session.

  • objective-c releasing uninitialized class members in dealloc method

    - by Dude Man
    Regarding over-releasing. Say I have a instance variable defined in Test.h NSString *mystring; In my implementation Test.m I do not initialize the variable mystring anywhere. But I release it in dealloc: -(void)dealloc { [mystring release]; } Is this now over-released? I've been doing the following in dealloc to avoid any issues, however, is this really necessary? -(void)dealloc { if (mystring) [mystring release]; } It seems that [nil release] shouldn't do anything, can someone verify this with class members?

  • Using indentation to make CSS more readable? (making parents and children more identifiable in CSS)

    - by janoChen
    I've been always guiding myself with the following CSS structure: #nav { } #nav li { } #nac li a { } This structure tells me clearly who is the parent and the child. But in a recent article (I think it was CSS Trick) someone said that CSS is read from right to left. So the more tags I had the slower it will be (and sometimes I think its unnecessary to write every single tag involve in the selector). So it may be something like this: #nav { } #special-link { } where #special-link is #nav's child. I know this is not a big problem in a simple stylesheet but in a big one I always would get confused about who is who's parent and child. Another solution would be: #nav { } #special-link { } Indentation How do you solve with this CSS dilemma?

  • Javascript - cannot make static reference to non-static function ....

    - by Ankur
    I am making a reference to the Javascript function splice() on an array and I get the error: "Cannot make a static reference to the non-static function splice()" What's going on - how is this a static reference, aren't I referencing an instance of an Array class and its method - how is that static? $(document).ready( function() { var queryPreds = new Array(); var queryObjs = new Array(); function remFromQuery(predicate) { for(var i=0; i<arrayName.length;i++ ) { if(queryPreds[i]==predicate) queryPreds.splice(i,1); queryObjs.splice(i,1); } } }

  • Need help specifying a ending while condition

    - by johnthexiii
    I have written a Python script to download all of the xkcd comic images. The only problem is I can't tell it to stop when it gets to the last one... Here is what I have so far. import re, mechanize from urllib import urlretrieve from BeautifulSoup import BeautifulSoup as bs baseUrl = "http://xkcd.com/1/" #Specify the first comic page br = mechanize.Browser() #Create a browser response = br.open(baseUrl) #Create an initial response x = 1 #Assign an initial file name while (SomeCondition): soup = bs(response.get_data()) #Create an instance of bs that contains the response data img = soup.findAll('img')[1] #Get the online file path of the image localFile = "C:\\Comics\\xkcd\\" + str(x) + ".jpg" #Come up with a local file name urlretrieve(img["src"], localFile) #Download the image file response = br.follow_link(text = "Next >") #Store the response of the next button x += 1 #Increase x by 1 print "All xkcd comics downloaded" #Let the user know the images have been downloaded Initially what I had was something like while br.follow_link(text = "Next >") != br.follow_link(text = ">|"): but by doing this I actually send skip to the last page before the script has a chance to perform the intended purpose.

  • How to avoid StaleObjectStateException when transaction updates thousands of entities?

    - by ThinkFloyd
    We are using Hibernate 3.6.0.Final with JPA 2 and Spring 3.0.5 for a large scale enterprise application running on tomcat 7 and MySQL 5.5. Most of the transactions in application, lives for less than a second and update 5-10 entities but in some use cases we need to update more than 10-20K entities in single transaction, which takes few minutes and hence more than 70% of times such transaction fails with StaleObjectStateException because some of those entities got updated by some other transaction. We generally maintain version column in all tables and in case of StaleObjectStateException we generally retry but since these longs transactions are anyways very long so if we keep on retrying then also I am not very sure that we'll be able to escape StaleObjectStateException. Also lot of activities keep updating these entities in busy hours so we cannot go with pessimistic approach because it can potentially halt many activities in system. Please suggest how to fix such long transaction issue because we cannot spawn thousands of independent and small transactions because we cannot afford messed up data in case of some failed & some successful transactions.

  • how do you load files in windows phone 7?

    - by matt
    do you seriously have to make your own content pipeline project for every single type of file you want to load? Microsoft just seem to be pretending that the iphone doesn't exist (even though they are now paying devs to port between them). I'm trying to port my game from the iphone to winmo7, and I already have a nice asset pipeline set up for exporting textures in the exact format we want (16 bit fmts ect) I just want to be able to open a file and read it, just like I would on any other platform. I have tried System.IO.File.OpenText("atextfile.txt"), but it says that function is "RESTRICTED!!!!" I have tried just adding the txt file to the content project, setting its properties to "content" and "copy always" and then trying to open it doing this.Content.Load("atextfile.txt"); with and without the extension, says it can't find the file.

  • Given a few strings, how many strings can be lexicographically least by modifying the alphabet?

    - by Jackson W
    Number of strings can be huge as in 30000. Given N strings, output which ones can be lexicographically least after modifying the english alphabet. e.g. acdbe...... for example if the strings were: omm moo mom ommnom "mom" is already lexicographically least with the original english alphabet. we can make the word "omm" least by switching "m" and "o" in the alphabet ("abcdefghijklonmpqrstuvwxyz"). the other ones you cant make lexicographically last, no matter what you do. any fast way to do this? I have no ways to approach this except try every single possible alphabet

  • Why wasn't C# designed with 'const' for variables and methods?

    - by spoulson
    I suspect const was simplified for the C# spec for general language simplicity. Was there a specific reason we can't declare variable references or methods as const like we can with C++? e.g.: const MyObject o = new MyObject(); // Want const cast referenece of MyObject o.SomeMethod(); // Theoretically legal because SomeMethod is const o.ChangeStuff(); // Theoretically illegal because ChangeStuff is not const class MyObject { public int val = 0; public void SomeMethod() const { // Do stuff, but can't mutate due to const declaration. } public void ChangeStuff() { // Code mutates this instance. Can't call with const reference. val++; } }

  • ASP.NET MVC: What is the correct way to redirect to pages/actions in MVC?

    - by Mark Redman
    I am fairly new to MVC but not sure exactly which Redirect... replaces the standard redirect used in WebForms ie the standard Response.Redirect() For instance, I need to redirect to other pages in a couple of scenarios: 1) WHen the user logs out (Forms signout in Action) I want to redirect to a login page 2) In a Controller or base Controller event eg Initialze, I want to redirect to another page (AbsoluteRootUrl + Controller + Action) It seems that multiple redirects get called in some cases which causes errors, something to do with the fact a page is already being redirected? How can cancel the current request and just redirect?

  • Operator + for matrices in C++

    - by cibercitizen1
    I suppose the naive implementation of a + operator for matrices (2D for instance) in C++ would be: class Matrix { Matrix operator+ (Matrix other) const { Matrix result; // fill result with *this.data plus other.data return result; } } so we could use it like Matrix a; Matrix b; Matrix c; c = a + b; Right? But if matrices are big this is not efficient as we are doing one not-necessary copy (return result). Therefore, If we wan't to be efficient we have to forget the clean call: c = a + b; Right? What would you suggest / prefer ? Thanks.

  • Unable to access static var from Document Class in AS3

    - by omidomid
    I have a Document class called "CityModule", and an asset with class "City". Below is the coe for each. For some reason, I am unable to access the static variables of the City class from CityModule: CityModule.as: package { public class CityModule extends MovieClip { public function CityModule() { var buildings:Array = City.getBuildings(); } } } } City.as: package { import flash.display.MovieClip; public class City extends MovieClip { private static var _buildings:Array = [ {className:'City.Generic1', type:'generic'}, {className:'City.Generic2', type:'generic'}, {className:'City.Generic3', type:'generic'} ]; public function City(){ //empty } public static function getBuildings():Array{ return _buildings; } } } Doing this gives me a "Call to a possibly undefined method getBuildings" error. If I instantiate an instance of City, I can see any public/ getters/ setters perfectly fine. But static isn't working...

  • DDEX Firebird editing queries duplicates columns in Visual Studio 2008

    - by A Bothe
    Hello everybody! I don't know if some of you also has experienced it but when I edit a query in Visual Studio (it uses DDEX 2.0.5 for accessing the Firebird 2.5 database), it duplicates some of the columns. What's really interesting is the fact that only System.Boolean columns are duplicated: Originally, there was only ,for instance, a 'PRO_DELETED' field... Now I wanted to sort my results by this field - I had to change the select statement in the so-called QueryBuilder by adding "ORDER BY PRO_DELETED" ...After clicking OK it somehow created a new column (!?) called 'PRO_DELETED1' My question is: Why does DDEX add such a new row to the column view and why can't I access the original PRO_DELETED field anymore? Thanks in advance!

  • How does Windows' 'Open with' work?

    - by Frederick
    I was under the impression that when you double click a file (or choose 'Open With' from the right click menu), Windows simply calls the application with the filename as the parameter. Something like this: C: App.exe file.abc However, I just double clicked an .xls file and then checked the PEB of the Excel instance that sprang up. To my surprise the commandline did not contain the filename as a parameter. So that set me wondering. What exactly is mechanism Windows uses to have a file opened by a relevant application? Is there a special API that each application that supports such facility must expose?

  • Copying 1-D array into 2 -D array

    - by Digvijay Yadav
    I have one two dimensional array and one single dimensional array. The two dimensional array is of NxM size. And the one dimensional array is of size N x M means it has N X M elements. Now I want to copy all the elements of the one dimensional array into the 2-D array. This is what I tried for(i = 0; i < M; i += 1) { for(j = 0; j < N; j += 1) { arr2d[i][j] = arr2d[(i*j +j)]; } } But not working Any suggestions???

  • subplot matplotlib wrong syntax

    - by madptr
    I am using matplotlib to subplot in a loop. For instance, i would like to subplot 49 data sets, and from the doc, i implemented it this way; import numpy as np import matplotlib.pyplot as plt X1=list(range(0,10000,1)) X1 = [ x/float(10) for x in X1 ] nb_mix = 2 parameters = [] for i in range(49): param = [] Y = [0] * len(X1) for j in range(nb_mix): mean = 5* (1 + (np.random.rand() * 2 - 1 ) * 0.5 ) var = 10* (1 + np.random.rand() * 2 - 1 ) scale = 5* ( 1 + (np.random.rand() * 2 - 1) * 0.5 ) Y = [ Y[k] + scale * np.exp(-((X1[k] - mean)/float(var))**2) for k in range(len(X1)) ] param = param + [[mean, var, scale]] ax = plt.subplot(7, 7, i + 1) ax.plot(X1, Y) parameters = parameters + [param] ax.show() However, i have an index out of range error from i=0 onwards. Where can i do better to have it works ? Thanks

  • Is it possible to exit a for before time in C++, if an ending condition is reached?

    - by tunnuz
    Hello, I want to know if it is possible to end a for loop in C++ when an ending condition (different from the reacheing right number of iterations) is verified. For instance: for (int i = 0; i < maxi; ++i) for (int j = 0; j < maxj; ++j) // But if i == 4 < maxi AND j == 3 < maxj, // then jump out of the two nested loops. I know that this is possible in Perl with the next LABEL or last LABEL calls and labeled blocks, is it possible to do it in C++ or I should use a while loop? Thank you.

  • "Zoom" text to be as big as possible within constraints/box

    - by stolsvik
    First problem: You have 400 pixels width to go on, and need to fit some text within that constraint as large as possible (thus, the text shall use that amount of space). Throw in a new constraint: If the text is just "A", then it shall not zoom this above 100 pixels (or some specific font size). Then, a final situation: Linebreaks. Fit some text in the largest possible way within e.g. 400 x 150 pixels. An obvious way is to simply start with point 1, and then increase until you can't fit it anymore. This would work for all three problems, but would be very crude. The fitting of a single line within bounds could be done by writing it with some fixed point size, check the resulting pixel bounds of the text, and then simply scale it with a transform (the text scales properly too then, check out TransformUI). Any ideas of other ways to attack this would be greatly appreciated!

  • Function Composition in C++

    - by Channel72
    There are a lot of impressive Boost libraries such as Boost.Lambda or Boost.Phoenix which go a long way towards making C++ into a truly functional language. But is there a straightforward way to create a composite function from any 2 or more arbitrary functions or functors? If I have: int f(int x) and int g(int x), I want to do something like f . g which would statically generate a new function object equivalent to f(g(x)). This seems to be possible through various techniques, such as those discussed here. Certainly, you can chain calls to boost::lambda::bind to create a composite functor. But is there anything in Boost which easily allows you to take any 2 or more functions or function objects and combine them to create a single composite functor, similar to how you would do it in a language like Haskell?

  • timeline charts with rich ui

    - by Karthick R
    hi all, I have a requirement to come up with a time line chart and a few more controls on a single page[with rich ui]. I have short listed Flex, JSF[apache trinidad], html5, gwt these technologies. None of them provide timeline charts on their own. I am looking at other options such as using third party libraries. The chart should have drill down capabilities as well. Let me know if there is any specific technology that I should try. regards

  • What is the effect on record size of reordering columns in PostgreSQL?

    - by Summer
    Since Postgres can only add columns at the end of tables, I end up re-ordering by adding new columns at the end of the table, setting them equal to existing columns, and then dropping the original columns. So, what does PostgreSQL do with the memory that's freed by dropped columns? Does it automatically re-use the memory, so a single record consumes the same amount of space as it did before? But that would require a re-write of the whole table, so to avoid that, does it just keep a bunch of blank space around in each record? Thanks! ~S

  • Java, JavaCC: How to check if a char (or char pair) is inside a given UTF32 range?

    - by java.is.for.desktop
    Hello, everyone! I am referring to the XML 1.1 spec. Look at the definition of NameStartChar: NameStartChar ::= ":" | [A-Z] | "_" | [a-z] | [#xC0-#xD6] | [#xD8-#xF6] | [#xF8-#x2FF] | [#x370-#x37D] | [#x37F-#x1FFF] | [#x200C-#x200D] | [#x2070-#x218F] | [#x2C00-#x2FEF] | [#x3001-#xD7FF] | [#xF900-#xFDCF] | [#xFDF0-#xFFFD] | [#x10000-#xEFFFF] If I interpret this correctly, the last range (#x10000-#xEFFFF) goes beyond the UTF16 range of Java's char type. So it must be UTF32, right? So, I need to check pairs of char against this range, instead of single chars, right? My questions are: How do I check for such character ranges using standard Java methods? How is it possible to define such ranges in JavaCC? JavaCC complains about \u10000 and \uEFFFF Thank you! NOTE: Don't worry, I am not trying to write an own XML-parser. I need those character ranges for other reasons.

  • Collectable<T> serialization, Root Namespaces on T in .xml files.

    - by Stacey
    I have a Repository Class with the following method... public T Single<T>(Predicate<T> expression) { using (var list = (Models.Collectable<T>)System.Xml.Serializer.Deserialize(typeof(Models.Collectable<T>), FileName)) { return list.Find(expression); } } Where Collectable is defined.. [Serializable] public class Collectable<T> : List<T>, IDisposable { public Collectable() { } public void Dispose() { } } And an Item that uses it is defined.. [Serializable] [System.Xml.Serialization.XmlRoot("Titles")] public partial class Titles : Collectable<Title> { } The problem is when I call the method, it expects "Collectable" to be the XmlRoot, but the XmlRoot is "Titles" (all of object Title). I have several classes that are collected in .xml files like this, but it seems pointless to rewrite the basic methods for loading each up when the generic accessors do it - but how can I enforce the proper root name for each file without hard coding methods for each one? The [System.Xml.Serialization.XmlRoot] seems to be ignored.
