  • Spring Roo and aspect-oriented programming

    - by marcos
Hello, i've been running some experiments of my own with Spring Roo and it seems to be pretty cool, but i noticed that this tool makes heavy use of AOP on the model layer. I'm thinking about creating a real project using Roo and what i would like to know is: Why AOP is everywhere? Is That ok? What are advantages and disadvantages of this approach? I'm quite new to aspect-oriented programming and some guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

  • getResourceAsStream returns HttpInputStream not of the entire file

    - by khue
Hi, I am having a web application with an applet which will copy a file packed witht the applet to the client machine. When I deploy it to webserver and use: InputStream in = getClass().getResourceAsStream("filename") ; The in.available() always return a size of 8192 bytes for every file I tried, which means the file is corrupted when it is copied to the client computer. The InputStream is of type HttpInputStream (sun.net.protocol.http.HttpUrlConnection$httpInputStream). But while I test applet in applet viewer, the files are copied fine, with the InputStream returned is of type BufferedInputStream, which has the file's byte sizes. I guess that when getResourceStream in file system the BufferedInputStream will be used and when at http protocol, HttpInputStream will be used. How will I copy the file completely, is there a size limited for HttpInputStream? Thanks a lot.

  • How to discard time intervals with Time Series / XYPlots using JFreeChart?

    - by Alex Arnon
Hi All, I am building a set of chart displays, one of which is for a month display of daily trading - that is, one point of data per day (closing). Since there is no trade during weekends and holidays, I need to discard these data points. Not only that, but data points should still appear adjacent to each other, regardless of any gaps in time. This can be seen in any such chart e.g. in the 3 month graph for Nasdaq on Yahoo Finance - see how weekends are skipped. My question is: how should one correctly implement this in JFreeChart? Thanks in advance!

  • Writing a line in a JTextArea from another class

    - by Christopher Nastovski
    I'm trying to use a Method in my class 'Visual' to write a line of code into a JTextArea and it prints when I call it from 'Visual' but when I call it from 'Login' It only prints Text into the Console, not to the TextArea. private static Visual Visual; Visual.WriteLine("I'm sorry, your username or password is incorrect. Please try again."); or private static Visual Visual = new Visual(); Visual.WriteLine("I'm sorry, your username or password is incorrect. Please try again."); Dont work form 'Login' But, WriteLine("Test"); works from 'Visual', the class that the method is in. Here's the method in 'Visual' public void WriteLine(String Text) { System.out.println(Text); SystemFeed.append(Text.toString() + "\n"); SystemFeed.setCaretPosition(SystemFeed.getDocument().getLength()); }

  • how to write own serializer/deserializer?

    - by joseph
Hello, I need to save objects - instances of classes - in my app like some filetype. How I can write own serializer/deserializer for it? Or exist some easier way how to save objects to some filetype? Using of io.serialization was commented as not so good solution for "real" app. Why?

  • How to detect column conflicts with Hibernate?

    - by Slim
    So let's say I have an ArrayList full of Products that need to be committed to the database via Hibernate. There are already a large number of Products in the database. Each product has an ID. Note this is NOT the PK that is autogenerated by Hibernate. My questions is: what is the best way to detect conflicts with this ID? I am looking for a relatively efficient method of obtaining, from the the database, a List of Products that share an ID with any of the Products in my ArrayList. This is all in a single table called Products and the ID attribute is in column ProductID. The way I've done it is grabbing a list of all Products in the database, and compared each one with each entry in my ArrayList - but that is seriously inefficient and I don't think it would work well with a larger database. How should it be done? Thanks. I say "relatively" efficient because efficiency is not the primary concern, but it shouldn't take noticeably long to test against a table of ~1000-5000 rows. Help? EDIT* I'm very new to hibernate and below is the best I've come up with. How does this look? for(long id : idList){ //idList just holds the IDs of each Product in my ArrayList Query query = session.createQuery("select product from Product product where product.id = :id"); query.setLong("id", id); for(int i = 0; i < query.list().size(); i++){ listOfConflictingProducts.add((Product) query.list().get(i)); } }

  • Log information inside a JUnit Suite

    - by Alex Marinescu
I'm currently trying to write inside a log file the total number of failed tests from a JUnite Suite. My testsuite is defined as follows: @RunWith(Suite.class) @SuiteClasses({Class1.class, Class2.class etc.}) public class SimpleTestSuite {} I tried to define a rule which would increase the total number of errors when a test fails, but apparently my rule is never called. @Rule public MethodRule logWatchRule = new TestWatchman() { public void failed(Throwable e, FrameworkMethod method) { errors += 1; } public void succeeded(FrameworkMethod method) { } }; Any ideas on what I should to do to achieve this behaviour?

  • How to read an xs:any response using CXF Generated Client?

    - by mfcabrera
Hi, When consuming a webserice with CXF 2.1.4 (the generated client) I am having problem getting the response based on the following XSD snippet in the WSDL. CXF Generates a List representing it, but when I execute the service, the response comes null. I used wireshark to what I was reciving and indeed the response XMl is coming as expected, but CXF just give me null object. Below the XSD of the response object. And <!--- chunk --> <s:element name="GestionSIIFResponse"> <s:complexType> <s:sequence> <s:element minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="1" name="GestionSIIFResult"> <s:complexType mixed="true"> <s:sequence> <s:any /> </s:sequence> </s:complexType> </s:element> </s:sequence> </s:complexType> </s:element> <!--- chunk --> And this is the response I am getting from the service: <soap:Body> <GestionSIIFResponse xmlns="http://tempuri.org/"> <GestionSIIFResult> <Siif xmlns=""> <Pagina>NUY001B</Pagina> <Exitos> <ExitoRep> <CodExito>SIL0082</CodExito> <DesExito>La transaccion se ha aplicado satisfactoriamente</DesExito> </ExitoRep> </Exitos> <InformacionCab/> <Repeticiones/> </Siif> </GestionSIIFResult> </GestionSIIFResponse>

  • Android - How can I upload a txt file to a website?

    - by Donal Rafferty
I want to upload a txt file to a website, I'll admit I haven't looked into it in any great detail but I have looked at a few examples and would like more experienced opinions on whether I'm going in the right direction. Here is what I have so far: DefaultHttpClient httpClient = new DefaultHttpClient(); HttpContext localContext = new BasicHttpContext(); private String ret; HttpResponse response = null; HttpPost httpPost = null; public String postPage(String url, String data, boolean returnAddr) { ret = null; httpClient.getParams().setParameter(ClientPNames.COOKIE_POLICY, CookiePolicy.RFC_2109); httpPost = new HttpPost(url); response = null; StringEntity tmp = null; try { tmp = new StringEntity(data,"UTF-8"); } catch (UnsupportedEncodingException e) { System.out.println("HTTPHelp : UnsupportedEncodingException : "+e); } httpPost.setEntity(tmp); try { response = httpClient.execute(httpPost, localContext); } catch (ClientProtocolException e) { System.out.println("HTTPHelp : ClientProtocolException : "+e); } catch (IOException e) { System.out.println("HTTPHelp : IOException : "+e); } ret = response.getStatusLine().toString(); return ret; } And I call it as follows: postPage("http://www.testwebsite.com", "data/data/com.testxmlpost.xml/files/logging.txt", true)); I want to be able to upload a file from the device to a website. But when trying this way I get the following response back. HTTP/1.1 405 Method Not Allowed Am I trying the correct way or should I be doing it another way?

  • Deleting a node in a family tree

    - by user559142
Hi, I'm trying to calclulate the best way to delete a node in a family tree. First, a little description of how the app works. My app makes the following assumption: Any node can only have one partner. That means that any child a single node has, it will also be the partner nodes child too. Therefore, step relations, divorces etc aren't compensated for. A node always has two parents - A mother and father cannot be added seperately. If the user doesn't know the details - the nodes attributes are set to a default value. Also any node can add parents, siblings, children to itself. Therefore in law relationships can be added. I have the following classes: FamilyMember String fName; String lName; String dob; String gender; FamilyMember mother, father, partner; ArrayListchildren; int index; int generation; void linkParents(); void linkPartner(); void addChild(); //gets & sets for fields Family ArrayListfamily; void addMember(); void removeMember(); FamilyMember getFamilyMember(index); ArrayListgetFamilyMembers(); FamilyTree Family family; void removeMember(); //need help void displayFamilyMembers(); void addFamilyMember(); void enterDetails(); void displayAncestors(); void displayDescendants(); void printDescendants(); FamilyMember findRootNode(); void sortGenerations(); void getRootGeneration(); I am having trouble with identifying the logic for removing a member. All other functions work fine. Has anyone developed a family tree app before who knows how to deal with removing various different nodes in the family "tree"? e.g. removing a leaf removing a leaf with partner (what if partner has parents etc) removing a parent It seems to be another recursive property but my head is swelling from over thought.

  • What are the possible causes of JasperException

    - by CitadelCSCadet
I have a JSP that takes an Arraylist from the session object and removes the items from it. It seemed to be working fine and then out of nowhere when I navigate to that page, the page is blank. I checked the Tomcat log files and in catalina.out I am receiving a JasperException an it is showing it as being on a line with the following for(int i; i < agentItems.size(); i++) agentItems is the name of the ArrayList I am using. I have been debugging it and can't seem to figure out what the problem might be. I have read that a JasperException is sometiems thrown as a JSP's NullPointerException. Is this true or am I just completely overlooking the problem? I have the web application running on a local machine and a intermediate server for development in which both of them have had no trouble. Why could it be that only on this server it is giving me problems?

  • Beautifying a SWT application on Mac

    - by Mark
SWT is designed to be cross-platform, so it can run on a Mac. The problem is it commits the cardinal sin of Macland - it's UGLY. Toolbars don't look like Mac toolbars, status bars don't look like Mac status bars, etc. Does anyone have any experience in making an SWT application look more like a Mac application? For example, by making platform-specific JNI calls via the 'OS' class in SWT? If so, how difficult was it? (This question arises because we are looking at porting an existing SWT app designed to run on Windows) Thanks

  • String intern puzzles

    - by Yob
On this blog I found interesting String puzzles: --- Quote --- String te = "te", st = "st"; //"test".length(); String username = te + st; username.intern(); System.out.println("String object the same is: " + (username == "test")); prints String object the same is: true but uncomment the "test".length(); line and it prints String object the same is: false --- EoQ --- Being honest I don't understand why the outputs are different. Could you please explain me what's the cause of such behaviour?

  • Test param value using EasyMock

    - by fmpdmb
I'm attempting to write some unit tests using EasyMock and TestNG and have run into a question. Given the following: void execute(Foo f) { Bar b = new Bar() b.setId(123); f.setBar(b); } I'm trying to test that the Id of the Bar gets set accordingly in the following fashion: @Test void test_execute() { Foo f = EasyMock.createMock(Foo.class); execute(f); Bar b = ?; // not sure what to do here f.setBar(b); f.expectLastCall(); } In my test, I can't just call f.getBar() and inspect it's Id because f is a mock object. Any thoughts? Is this where I'd want to look at the EasyMock v2.5 additions andDelegateTo() and andStubDelegateTo()?
