  • Is there a local client like Gmail?

    - by Clayton Hughes
    I'd love to use something with the Gmail interface for my work (Exchange) e-mails, and I don't exactly carry enough weight to convince the entire company to switch to Google Apps. With that in mind, ss there a local, not-in-the-cloud web client that supports IMAP or POP3 and has the look and feel of Gmail's web interface? (that works on Windows XP).

  • List total memusage by 32bit programs and 64bit programs

    - by egon
    How to get the total amount of memory used by 32bit applications and 64bit applications from the command line in Windows. I tried using tasklist /FI "MODULES eq wow64.dll" /FO CSV and then parsing the output and summing. But tasklist just freezes with any command that has something to do with modules (tasklist /m and tasklist /fi "modules eq wow64.dll" freeze). Are there any alternatives? Or some idea why tasklist freezes.

    - by s.mihai
    I have a server app that crushes when the HDD free space it's a multiple of 4Gb (on a Windows Server 2003). In general i keep track myself o that weekly since i use the machine from time to time. Can you point out an app or script (i don't wanna install powershell, is this doable???) that copies some larger files from one folder to another to get the free space out of the multiple of 4Gb range. Best regards, Mike

  • 'foreach' failing when using Parallel Task Library

    - by Chris Arnold
    The following code creates the correct number of files, but every file contains the contents of the first list. Can anyone spot what I've done wrong please? private IList<List<string>> GetLists() { // Code omitted for brevity... } private void DoSomethingInParallel() { var lists = GetLists(); var tasks = new List<Task>(); var factory = new TaskFactory(); foreach (var list in lists) { tasks.Add(factory.StartNew(() => { WriteListToLogFile(list); })); } Task.WaitAll(tasks.ToArray()); }

  • How can I find the program making a harmonica sound?

    - by Josh
    A friend has a Windows XP SP3 machine that plays a harmonica sound for about 5 seconds throughout the day at what seems to be random intervals (every couple hours). My question is how can I find the program making this sound? Is there a Windows API hook for monitoring audio access? I've gone through and checked all the standard Windows sounds in the Control Panel and right now the theme is set to no sounds and I personally checked to make sure none of the events have a sound specified. I also checked the Task Scheduler to make sure there wasn't something scheduled to go off every couple hours. Any ideas on how to go about finding the bugger?

  • How hard is FizzBuzz? [closed]

    - by Josh K
    After reading various blog entries I took it upon myself to code a FizzBuzz program in PHP. class FizzBuzz { function __construct() { } function go() { for($i = 1; $i < 101; $i++) { if($i % 3 == 0 and $i % 5 == 0) { echo("FizzBuzz\n"); continue; } else if($i % 3 == 0) { echo("Fizz\n"); continue; } else if($i % 5 == 0) { echo("Buzz\n"); continue; } else { echo($i."\n"); } } } } $FB = new FizzBuzz(); $FB->go(); Created the FizzBuzz object just because I could, I complete this in under five minutes. Is it really that hard to do?

  • Confused over behavior of List.mapi in F#

    - by James Black
    I am building some equations in F#, and when working on my polynomial class I found some odd behavior using List.mapi Basically, each polynomial has an array, so 3*x^2 + 5*x + 6 would be [|6, 5, 3|] in the array, so, when adding polynomials, if one array is longer than the other, then I just need to append the extra elements to the result, and that is where I ran into a problem. Later I want to generalize it to not always use a float, but that will be after I get more working. So, the problem is that I expected List.mapi to return a List not individual elements, but, in order to put the lists together I had to put [] around my use of mapi, and I am curious why that is the case. This is more complicated than I expected, I thought I should be able to just tell it to make a new List starting at a certain index, but I can't find any function for that. type Polynomial() = let mutable coefficients:float [] = Array.empty member self.Coefficients with get() = coefficients static member (+) (v1:Polynomial, v2:Polynomial) = let ret = List.map2(fun c p -> c + p) (List.ofArray v1.Coefficients) (List.ofArray v2.Coefficients) let a = List.mapi(fun i x -> x) match v1.Coefficients.Length - v2.Coefficients.Length with | x when x < 0 -> ret :: [((List.ofArray v1.Coefficients) |> a)] | x when x > 0 -> ret :: [((List.ofArray v2.Coefficients) |> a)] | _ -> [ret]

  • 401 - Unauthorized On Server 2008 R2 IIS 7.5

    - by mxmissile
    I have a web application deployed to Server 2008 IIS 7.5 box. From remote it gives this error: 401 - Unauthorized: Access is denied due to invalid credentials. (remote = desktops on the same LAN) Have tried several remote clients using different browsers, all the same result. (IE, FF, and Chrome) Hitting the application from the desktop of the server itself works flawlessly. However I have not tried Firebug on the server desktop. I would assume it's still issuing a 401 status code yet returning the content anyway. See Update #2. The application is using Anonymous Authentication. The application is written in .NET 4.0 Asp.Net using the MVC framework. Static content works fine, example: http://server.com/content/image.jpg Sysinternals procmon returns these 2 results for each request: FAST IO DISALLOWED and PATH NOT FOUND. I have 2 other MVC apps running fine on the same server. I have checked the security on the folders and they all match. App runs fine on a Server 2008 IIS 7.0 box. Nothing shows up in the Event log on the server related to this. Pulling my hair out here, any troubleshooting tips? UPDATE #1: This just get's more WTF as I dig. If I click on the Application in IIS Manager - Error Pages - Edit Feature Settings select Detailed Errors, the app works remotely. Not leaving this on, so problem is not solved yet, its just more confusing. UPDATE #2: Using Firebug, I see that the Status is still 401 Unauthorized, but the Response is returning the application's correct HTML. UPDATE #3 Playing around with Failed Request Tracing, here is the WARNING Request Trace that is causing the 401: ModuleName ManagedPipelineHandler Notification 128 HttpStatus 401 HttpReason Unauthorized HttpSubStatus 0 ErrorCode 0 ConfigExceptionInfo Notification EXECUTE_REQUEST_HANDLER ErrorCode The operation completed successfully. (0x0) Update #4 Regular IIS log is showing this: #Software: Microsoft Internet Information Services 7.5 #Version: 1.0 #Date: 2010-07-20 19:17:22 #Fields: date time s-ip cs-method cs-uri-stem cs-uri-query s-port cs-username c-ip cs(User-Agent) sc-status sc-substatus sc-win32-status time-taken 2010-07-20 19:17:22 10.10.1.10 GET /Purchasing/Home - 80 - 10.10.1.12 Mozilla/5.0+(Windows;+U;+Windows+NT+6.1;+en-US;+rv:1.9.2.6)+Gecko/20100625+Firefox/3.6.6 401 0 0 4414

  • What makes Ometa special?

    - by Brian
    Ometa is "a new object-oriented language for pattern matching." I've encountered pattern matching in languages like Oz tools to parse grammars like Lexx/Yacc or Pyparsing before. Despite looking at example code, reading discussions, and talking to a friend, I still am not able to get a real understanding of what makes Ometa special (or at least, why some people think it is). Any explanation?

  • Do you have any tips for comments code to keep them in step with the code?

    - by Rob Wells
    G'day, I've read both of Steve McConnell's excellent Code Complete books "Code Complete" and "Code Complete 2" and was wondering if people have any other suggestions for commenting code. My commenting mantra could be summed up by the basic idea of expressing "what the code below cannot say". While enjoying this interesting blog post by Jeff about commenting I was still left wondering "When coding, when do you feel a comment is required?" Edit: Oops. Seems to be a duplicate of this question http://stackoverflow.com/questions/121945/how-do-you-like-your-comments so sorry for the noise. Thanks to my, seemingly, SO shadow for pointing it out - wouldn't have thought I was that interesting. Now off to read the original post and see if it is relevant. Edit: I meant to emphasise the best appraoch to ensure that your comments will stay in step with the code. Maybe expressing an intent rather than the mechansim for instance.

  • Scala/Erlang use something like greenThread or not ?

    - by CHAPa
    Hi all, Im reading a lot about how scala/Erlang does lightweight threads and your concurrency model ( Actor Model ). Off course, some doubts appear in my head. Scala/Erlang use a approach similar to the old thread model used by java (greenThread) ? for example, suppose that there is a machine with 2 cores, so the scala/erlang environment will fork one thread per processor ? The other threads will be scheduled by user-space( scala VM / erlang vm ) environment. is it correct ? how under the hood that really work ? thanks a lot.

    Write a program that reads angles in radians from an input disk le and converts them into degrees, minutes, and seconds. Output should be written into another le. A sample input le could be: # this is a comment # your program should be able to skip comment lines # and blank lines # input radian numbers could be seperated by blanks 0.0 1.0 # or by a newline 3.141593 6.0
