  • No styles / images on asp.Net MVC 2 application

    Greetings i have a little problem with my ASP MVC application. On my local development server everything works just fine but when i try to publish the application to an IIS 7.0 server it just displays plain pages without any styles / markups / images. I put all those things in the /Content/ subfolder but when i try to access that folder on the production server it just returns me a 404 not found error. I set the IIS server up with .Net 4.0 and followed the deployment guide on here: http://www.asp.net/learn/mvc/tutorial-08-cs.aspx All views / controllers / classes seem to work just fine, the only thing which does not is the content subfolder and i cant see why. Anyone got a suggestion what i could have overlooked or does anyone know that problem?

    Hi Guys, I've got a DNN portal set up for me and my brother, which works, and i'd like to make it so that sub domains point to our respective sub section of the sites. I.e. brothers.co.uk = brothers.co.uk/home.aspx me.brothers.co.uk = brothers.co.uk/me.aspx him.brothers.co.uk = brothers.co.uk/him.aspx I've got the sub sections set up in DNN, but can't figure out what to do with domain names to get it working. I'd like this to be all one site with the same login set, although if there's a better way to structure this, I'm open to ideas. Any thoughts? Regards Tristan

  • Windows hosts file and IIS binding question

    I'm building a few SharePoint sites, and I want to make use of zones so I may set security different in the various zones. My workstation has a local SharePoint, and I use it for development. My workstation has a static IP, and is connected to the internet. When I make a SharePoint site, I want to add a host header, for instance, devbox.com. I do not own this name, nor do I want to. I then add an entry in my hosts file, but when I surf to http://devbox.com:8080, it does not resolve. Do I need to register the name I want to use, or should this work, i.e., have my hosts file resolve names/IPs first?

  • How do I compress a Json result from ASP.NET MVC with IIS 7.5

    I'm having difficulty making IIS 7 correctly compress a Json result from ASP.NET MVC. I've enabled static and dynamic compression in IIS. I can verify with Fiddler that normal text/html and similar records are compressed. Viewing the request, the accept-encoding gzip header is present. The response has the mimetype "application/json", but is not compressed. I've identified that the issue appears to relate to the MimeType. When I include mimeType="*/*", I can see that the response is correctly gzipped. How can I get IIS to compress WITHOUT using a wildcard mimeType? I assume that this issue has something to do with the way that ASP.NET MVC generates content type headers. The CPU usage is well below the dynamic throttling threshold.     Hi, I a solution for IIS 7.0 which runs on windows server 2008 64bit to write my clients IP to IIS logs while the server is behind firewalls and proxies (Pass X-Forwarded-For header value). I've tried to install the an ISAPI Filter written by Joe Pruitt. it works great on Windows Server 2003 32bit IIS 6.0, but seems to do nothing at all on windows server 2008 64bit IIS 7.0.     I've just setup an application under the default web site installed by IIS 7. I've tried loading both http://localhost and http://localhost/myappname in both cases, all I am getting is a blank page, no errors. And although directory browsing is enabled, I can't even see a list of the files in that directory. Any ideas why this is? Thanks in advance...

    This is just another "working in dev server, why not working in IIS" type question. So, I created a nice DAL using NHibernate as described here. When creating an ISession, I hook up an event handler to the HttpApplication.EndRequest to take care of cleaning it up. However, I deployed my site to IIS and it says: Event handlers can only be bound to HttpApplication events during IHttpModule initialization. Since when? What for? Why? How can I bypass it?

    Okay I'm kindoff new to the .NET platform. And currently i'm learning ASP MVC. Do i need to install a virtual smtp server or something?.   • Is it possible to tell IIS 7 to process the request queue in parallel?

    Currently we are developing an ASMX, ASP 2.0, IIS 7 web service that does some calculations (and return a dynamically generated document) and will take approx. 60 seconds to run. Since whe have a big machine with multiple cores and lots of RAM, I expected that IIS tries its best to route the requests that arrive in its requests queue to all available threads of the app pool's thread pool. But we experience quiet the opposite: When we issue requests to the ASMX web service URL from multiple different clients, the IIS seems to serially process these requests. I.e. request 1 arrives, is being processed, then request 2 is being processed, then request 3, etc. Question: Is it possible (without changing the C# code of the web service) to configure IIS to process requests in parallel, if enough threads are available? If yes: how should I do it? It no: any workarounds/tips? Thanks Uwe

  • Creating cookieless application on development machine with asp.net

    I tried posting this on ServerFault with no luck so i am trying here. I am thinking about setting up a new domain to host static content on my website and have it cookieless just like Stackoverflow with their static domain. So before going ahead and buying the domain and setting it up I wanted to test it on my developement machine first under localhost (I have to mention that i am planning on having IIS running on my new domain for the static files). I therefore created a new application under IIS and disabled session state and forms authentication. When my main application needs resources like css, images and js , I use the path to the "static" application where they are hosted. The problem is that when I look at the request and the response for the requested files, they still have the session_id cookie defined as well as the asp.net authentication cookie. Is it at all possible to accomplish what i am trying to do on a development machine or do i have to just go ahead and purchase the new domain which hopefully with make things right? I tried to read about cookieless domain but can't figure out what i might be missing.

  • ASP.NET Authentication Cookie timout and IIS 7 setting

    Hello, I have an ASP.NET website for which i've set the authetication timeout to 60 days so that my users don't have to log in each time they come back if they checked the "remember me" option. Basic ASP.NET login mechanism... It's working fine on my developpement server as well as on the visual studio built-in web server. I can close the browser, wait around 30-40 minutes and browse back to the site and be automatically logged in. However, I've not moved the site to a hosting provider and it seems that whatever I do to my Web.config file, the cookie expires after around 30 minutes (hard to tell the exact amount of time). I have asked the provider's help support and they basically told me: "Web.config file is to configure your website. Please do not change it if you don't know what you are doing" Frustrating answer indeed... To be sure, I checked everywhere on the net for exceptions, fine prints, in the basic asp.net authentication but found none. I have access to IIS remote management for my site (IIS 7) but don't really know where to look. Can there be something in the IIS setting that is overriding my web.config authentication setting? What should I do... Thanks for you help!

  • Too many parameters in MVC2 Controllers or IIS problem?

    I'm using a controller to call a stored procedure that requires 12 parameters. This works perfectly in debug mode locally (working against a remote database), but not when I publish it to my IIS 7 server. It complains about parameter #7, claiming it's not supplied with the URL. The URL call looks like this; http://localhost:50160/GetPlaces?minLat=-90&maxLat=90&minLng=-180&maxLng=180&minDate=0&maxDate=60000000&a=1&b=1&c=1&e=1&f=1&h=1 Does anyone have any idea what may be the cause of this? Any help would be very appreciated here.

  • Subdomains for different applications on Windows Server 2008 R2 with Apache and IIS 7 installed

    Hi, I have a home server, on which I have installed Apache, and several other applications that have a Web GUI (JDownloader, Free Download Manager). In order to access each of these apps (whether be it from the local network or the Internet), I have to enter a different port, e.g., http:// server:8085 or http:// xxxx.dyndns.org:8085 for Apache, http:// server:90 or http:// xxxx.dyndns.org:90 for FDM, http:// server:8081 or http:// xxxx.dyndns.org:8081 for JDownloader. I would like to be able to access them using sub-domains, e.g, http:// apache.server or http:// apache.xxxx.dyndns.org for Apache, http:// fdm.server or http:// fdm.xxxx.dyndns.org for FDM, http:// jdownloader.server or http:// jdownloader.xxxx.dyndns.org for JDownloader. First of all, would it be possible like I want it, i.e., both from LAN and Internet, and if yes, how?   • HELP!!! Upgrading to windows 2008 R2 server has caused major issue with screen scraping remote serve

    I have three servers. One is Windows 2003(A) and another is Windows 2008(B) and third one is also Windows 2008 (C). All of them are web servers. A and B contains classic asp pages and they are 32 bit servers and C contains asp.net pages and is 64 bit server. The asp pages of A and B use the screen scraping technology to render the asp.net pages from C. When A is ran, the asp.net page is rendered fine, meaning there are no broken images or file not found error. When B is ran, the images appears to be broken because its looking for those images in Server B instead of Server C itself. I believe this issue is caused by IIS 7 or 7.5 since IIS 6 has no problem scraping the remote server pages. Can you please help me with solution to this problem? This is sort of urgent since upgrading to windows server 2008 R2 now has been a major show stopper for us at the moment. Thanks in advance.

    Hello everyone, I am using VSTS 2008 + .Net 3.5 + C#. And I developed a custom Forms authentication module for IIS 7.0 and I attach to w3wp.exe to debug this module. During the attach process (I just select Tools - Attach to Process, no further operation performed on the computer I am debugging -- I just wait for the attach to be completed), I met with the following error, any ideas what is wrong? The web server process that was being debugged has been terminated by Internet Information Services (IIS). This can be avoided by configuring Application Pool ping settings in IIS.   • Why does the page posts take so long?

    Hi! I am having some problems with some page post backs that take a loooong time to execute. If I do a "appcmd list requests" I can get something like this: REQUEST "79000001800004e3" (url:POST /dir/file.aspx, time:87219 msec, client:xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, stage:ExecuteRequestHandler, module:ManagedPipelineHandler) REQUEST "8600000080002f82" (url:POST /dir/file.aspx, time:61391 msec, client:xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, stage:AcquireRequestState, module:Session) REQUEST "5e00010280000420" (url:POST /dir/file.aspx, time:21047 msec, client:xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, stage:AcquireRequestState, module:Session) It's one particular file that causes the problem (dir/file.aspx in this case). It comes from the same IP-adress. And the first on is from ManagedPipelineHandler module and the two after that from Session module. I do not have any details about the web browser, or anything more about the client for that matter. I have looked for sql dead locks and did not find any. There are no long running sql queries at all. Do you have any idea of what can be the problem? Regards.
