  • WPF: Order of stretch sizing

    - by RFBoilers
    I'm creating a modal dialog window which contains three essential parts: a TextBlock containing instructions, a ContentControl for the dialog panel, and a ContentControl for the dialog buttons. Each of these parts are contained in a separate Grid row. I have some specific constraints when it comes to how the dialog should be sized. The issue I'm having is with the instructions TextBlock. I want the instructions to be as wide as the ContentControl for the dialog panel. The instructions should then wrap and grow vertically as needed. Should the instructions not be able to grow vertically, then it should begin to grow horizontally. Getting the instructions to be the width of the ContentControl and grow vertically was simple. The part I can't seem to figure out is how to get it to grow horizontally when out of vertical space. My initial thought was to create a class that extends TextBlock and override MeasureOverride. However, that method is sealed. Currently, I'm playing with the idea of have the dialog Window override MeasureOverride to calculate the available size for the instructions block. Am I missing a much simpler way of accomplishing this? Does anyone have any better ideas than this? Messing with MeasureOverride seems like it will be a lot of work. Here is some sample code to give you a general idea of how the dialog is laid out: <Window x:Class="Dialogs.DialogWindow" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" x:Name="dialogWindow" ShowInTaskbar="False" WindowStyle="None" AllowsTransparency="True" Background="Transparent" ResizeMode="NoResize" SizeToContent="WidthAndHeight" WindowStartupLocation="CenterScreen"> <Border Style="{StaticResource WindowBorderStyle}" Margin="15"> <Grid> <Grid.RowDefinitions> <RowDefinition Height="Auto"/> <RowDefinition Height="Auto"/> <RowDefinition Height="Auto"/> </Grid.RowDefinitions> <TextBlock Margin="25,5" VerticalAlignment="Top" HorizontalAlignment="Left" Text="{Binding Instructions}" TextWrapping="Wrap" Width="{Binding ElementName=panelContentControl, Path=ActualWidth, Mode=OneWay}"/> <ContentControl x:Name="panelContentControl" Grid.Row="1" Margin="25,5" Content="{Binding PanelContent}"/> <ContentControl x:Name="buttonsContentControl" Grid.Row="2" HorizontalAlignment="Right" VerticalAlignment="Center" Margin="25,5" Content="{Binding ButtonsContent}"/> </Grid> </Border> </Window>

  • WPF DataGrid bind data between columns

    - by Markus2k
    Lets say I have 2 columns in my data Grid: Column A: Selected, and Column B: Name. The Selected column is a checkbox. And Name column is text field. I want to set the color of the text in 'Name' column as Blue if Column A's check box is checked, and Red otherwise. Essentially I don't know how to bind data between columns of the datagrid. And sample code/link providing example would be useful.

  • WPF RadioButton selected in UI, but seen by code as IsChecked == false

    - by Mike
    I have some radio buttons in a group box. I select the buttons randomly, and all works perfectly from a visual standpoint and also the event handler is called each time a new button is selected. Now I have a dependency property with a callback when the value changes. When in this callback procedure I read the IsChecked value of any button, the value is False, in spite the button is visually selected (they are all false at the same time, strange). The debugger also displays all buttons unchecked. Hu hu, I'm lacking ideas about the reason, after the basic verifications... <GroupBox> <StackPanel> <RadioButton x:Name="btNone" Content="Disconnected" IsChecked="True" Checked="OnSelChecked"/> <RadioButton x:Name="btManual" Content="Manual" Checked="OnSelChecked"/> </StackPanel> </GroupBox> Event handler: private void OnSelChecked(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { if (btManual.IsChecked == true) { // is called } } Dependency property: public static readonly DependencyProperty ManualProperty = DependencyProperty.Register("Manual", typeof(Position), typeof(SwitchBox), new FrameworkPropertyMetadata(null, FrameworkPropertyMetadataOptions.AffectsRender, new PropertyChangedCallback(OnManualChanged))); Dependency property callback: private static void OnManualChanged(DependencyObject sender, DependencyPropertyChangedEventArgs args) { SwitchBox box = sender as SwitchBox; if (box.btManual.IsChecked == true) { // never true, why?? } }

  • WPF closing child- closes parent-window

    - by Thomas Spranger
    i have the pretty same sample as mentioned here. Fast concluded: MainWindow closes when the last childwindow is closed. My Problem: I couldn't solve my problems with the described solutions. I can't produce a program where it als takes place. Only in one of my bigger progs. Maybe someone has an idea or knows any further steps. Thanks for reading - Thomas As requested here's a bit of code: This is the part in the MainWindow: bool editAfterSearch = false; Movie selectedMovie = (Movie)this.listView.SelectedItem; Movie backup = (Movie)selectedMovie.Clone(); if (new OnlineSearchWindow().EditMovieViaOnlineSearch(ref selectedMovie, out editAfterSearch)) { this.coverFlow.Update(selectedMovie); } And that's the part of the ChildWindow: public bool EditMovieViaOnlineSearch(ref Movie preset, out bool editAfter) { this.exitWithOk = false; this.editMovieAfterSearch = false; this.tbx_SearchTerm.Text = preset.Title; this.linkedMovie = preset; this.ShowDialog(); editAfter = editMovieAfterSearch; if (this.exitWithOk) { this.linkedMovie.CloneOnlineInformation(ref preset); preset.Bitmap = this.linkedMovie.Bitmap; return true; } else { return false; } }

  • WPF: Horizontal Alignment

    - by emptyset
    Probably I'm just missing something obvious, but I can't get the image in my DataTemplate to align to the right in the Grid, so that when the window is stretched, the image is "pulled" to the right as well: <Window.Resources> <DataTemplate x:Key="PersonTemplate" DataType="Minimal.Client.Person"> <Border BorderBrush="Purple" BorderThickness="2" CornerRadius="2" Padding="5" Margin="5"> <Grid Margin="10"> <Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ColumnDefinition Width="Auto" MinWidth="200"/> <ColumnDefinition Width="Auto" MaxWidth="200"/> </Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <StackPanel Grid.Column ="0" Orientation="Horizontal" > <TextBlock FontFamily="Verdana" FontSize="16" FontWeight="Bold" Text="{Binding LastName}" /> <TextBlock FontFamily="Verdana" FontSize="16" Text=", " /> <TextBlock FontFamily="Verdana" FontSize="16" Text="{Binding FirstName}" /> </StackPanel> <StackPanel Grid.Column="1" Orientation="Vertical" HorizontalAlignment="Right"> <Border BorderBrush="Black" BorderThickness="1"> <Image Source="{Binding Picture}" Width="180" Height="150" /> </Border> </StackPanel> </Grid> </Border> </DataTemplate> </Window.Resources> Any suggestions?

  • WPF: Binding items added to UserControl's exposed children

    - by Brian
    I have a user control that allows items to be added to it by exposing a Grid's Children property. Any control I add shows up fine but when I try to bind a property on the added item to a control in the main window nothing happens (example): <TextBox Name="txtTest" Text="Success!" /> <mycontrols:CustomUserControl.ExposedGridChildren> <TextBox Text="{Binding ElementName=txtTest, Path=Text, FallbackValue=fail}"/> </mycontrols:CustomUserControl.ExposedGridChildren> This example always results in the TextBox's text showing "fail". Here is how I'm exposing the children in the user control: public UIElementCollection ExposedGridChildren { get { return grdContainer.Children; } } Any thoughts? Is it a scope issue? I know I can't name the elements I add to the children because of scope errors. Thanks, Brian.

  • WPF - List items not visible in Blend when 'DisplayMemberPath' is used

    - by Andy T
    Hi, We're currently working out how to implement MVVM and I've got to the point where I've got the MVVM Light Toolkit set up in blend and can specify dummy data to be supplied if running in Blend. All good. I've created a dummy list of data. The list contains 6 instances of a very simple class called DummyItem which has Age and Name properties. Here's the main code from my 'DummyList' class: public class DummyItem{ public string Name; public int Age; public DummyItem(string name, int age){ this.Name = name; this.Age = age; } } public class DummyList : ArrayList { public DummyList() { this.Add(new DummyItem("Dummy1", 00)); this.Add(new DummyItem("Dummy2", 01)); this.Add(new DummyItem("Dummy3", 02)); this.Add(new DummyItem("Dummy4", 03)); this.Add(new DummyItem("Dummy5", 04)); this.Add(new DummyItem("Dummy6", 05)); } } Here's the operative part of my XAML. The DataContext line does work and points to the correct ViewModel. <Grid x:Name="LayoutRoot"> <ListBox x:Name="ListViewBox" DataContext="{Binding Source={StaticResource Locator}, Path=ListViewModel}" ItemsSource="{Binding TheList}" DisplayMemberPath="Name"> </ListBox> </Grid> The problem is, when I add 'DisplayMemberPath', as I have above, then I can no longer see the list items in Blend. If I remove 'DisplayMemberPath', then I see a list of objects (DummyItem) with their full path. When the app is run, everything works perfectly. It's just that in Blend itself I cannot see the list items when I use 'DisplayMemberPath'. Anyone know why I can't see the items inside Blend itself when I use DisplayMemberPath? Thanks! AT

  • Unset/Change Binding in WPF

    - by captcalamares
    How can I unset the binding applied to an object so that I can apply another binding to it from a different location? Suppose I have two data templates binded to the same object reference. Data Template #1 is the default template to be loaded. I try to bind a button command to a Function1 from my DataContext class: <Button Content="Button 1" CommandParameter="{Binding }" Command="{Binding DataContext.Function1, RelativeSource={RelativeSource AncestorType={x:Type Window}}}"/> This actually works and the function gets binded. However, when I try to load Data Template # 2 to the same object (while trying to bind another button command to a different function (Function2) from my DataContext class): <Button Content="Button 2" CommandParameter="{Binding }" Command="{Binding DataContext.Function2, RelativeSource={RelativeSource AncestorType={x:Type Window}}}" /> It doesn't work and the first binding is still the one executed. Is there a workaround to this? EDIT (for better problem context): I defined my templates in my Window.Resources: <Window.Resources> <DataTemplate DataType="{x:Type local:ViewModel1}"> <local:View1 /> </DataTemplate> <DataTemplate DataType="{x:Type local:ViewModel2}"> <local:View2 /> </DataTemplate> </Window.Resources> The View1.xaml and the View2.xaml contain the button definitions that I described above (I want them to command the control of my process flow). ViewModel1 and ViewModel2 are my ViewModels that implement the interface IPageViewModel which is the type of my variable CurrentPageViewModel. In my XAML, I binded ContentControl to the variable CurrentPageViewModel: <ContentControl Content="{Binding CurrentPageViewModel}" HorizontalAlignment="Center"/> In my .CS, I have a list defined as List<IPageViewModel> PageViewModels, which I use to contain the instances of my two View Models: PageViewModels.Add(new ViewModel1()); PageViewModels.Add(new ViewModel2()); // Set starting page CurrentPageViewModel = PageViewModels[0]; When I try to change my CurrentPageViewModel to the other view model, this is when I want the new binding to work. Unfortunately, it doesn't. Am I doing things the right way?

  • Wpf stop routing event when MessageBox appear?

    - by yossharel
    Hi all, I've PreviewMouseDown event on TreeView in order to determine if user can select other item based on some logic. If the current item data changed, will appear MessageBox that asks the user if he want to discard the changes. if user press YES , I set e.Handled = false; to enable the new selection. and if user press NO, I set e.Handled = true; to cancel the new selection. The problem is that although I set e.Handled = false , the event stop and no selection event occurs on TreeView. Someone has solution for that? Thanks in advance!

  • WPF BackGroundWorker ProgressChanged not updating textblock

    - by user354469
    I have the method below that seems to behaving strangely. The ProgressChanged and RunWorkerCompleted seem to be updating themselves at the same time. If I comment out the RunWorkerCompleted code which updates the Textblock I see the ProgressChanged taking effect after the data is transferred. What am i doing wrong here? I obviously want the textblock to show I'm getting data, then change when I have finished getting the data. public void GetAppointmentsBackground() { System.Windows.Threading.Dispatcher webServiceDispatcher = this.Dispatcher; worker = new BackgroundWorker(); worker.WorkerReportsProgress = true; worker.DoWork += delegate(object sender, DoWorkEventArgs args) { GetAppointmentsForDayDelegate getAppt = new GetAppointmentsForDayDelegate(GetAppointmentsForDay); webServiceDispatcher.BeginInvoke(getAppt); (sender as BackgroundWorker).ReportProgress(25); }; worker.ProgressChanged += delegate(object s, ProgressChangedEventArgs args) { txtMessages.Text = "Contacting Server"; }; worker.RunWorkerCompleted += delegate(object s, RunWorkerCompletedEventArgs args) { txtMessages.Text = "Completed Successfully"; }; worker.RunWorkerAsync(); }

  • WPF MVVM Property Change Animation

    - by cjibo
    I am looking for a clean way to start an animation that will have dynamic values. Basically I want to do an animation where an element changes width based on the data of another element. Say I have a TextBlock that's Text Property is Binding. When this property changes I want a visual element say a Rectangle for our sake to do a DoubleAnimation changing the width from previous value to the new value. I am trying to stay away from putting code in my view if possible. I've looked into DataTriggers but they seem to require that you know what the value would be such as an Enum. In my case it is just the value changing that needs to trigger a storyboard and the animation would need to start at the current(previous) value and move nicely to the new value. Any ideas. Maybe I just missed a property.

  • WPF: Text wrapping not working

    - by Ben
    I've got a grid defined simply: <Grid Margin="0,5,0,0"> <Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ColumnDefinition Width="50"></ColumnDefinition> <ColumnDefinition Width="50"></ColumnDefinition> <ColumnDefinition Width="48"></ColumnDefinition> <ColumnDefinition Width="Auto"></ColumnDefinition> </Grid.ColumnDefinitions> Then I'm trying to bind some content like this: <TextBlock TextWrapping="Wrap" Grid.Column="3" Text="{Binding Text}"> Set up like this, the text won't wrap. It simply expands the column to fit the text. If I set the Width to a fixed amount on the last column, wrapping works as expected. The problem there is that if the user widens the window, the column stays at a fixed size. How can I get the column to size dynamically with the width of the grid, but still wrap the text within it?

  • Group panel of WPF ListBox

    - by rulestein
    I have a listbox that is grouping the items with a GroupStyle. I would like add a control at the bottom of the stackpanel that holds all of the groups. This additional control needs to be part of the scrolling content so that the user would scroll to the bottom of the list to see the control. If I were using a listbox without the groups, this task would be easy by modifying the ListBox template. However, with the items grouped, the ListBox template seems to only apply on a per group basis. I can modify the GroupStyle.Panel, but that doesn't allow me to add items to that panel. <ListBox> <ListBox.ItemsPanel> <ItemsPanelTemplate> <WrapPanel/> </ItemsPanelTemplate> </ListBox.ItemsPanel> <ListBox.GroupStyle> <GroupStyle> <GroupStyle.Panel> <ItemsPanelTemplate> <VirtualizingStackPanel/> **<----- I would like to add a control to this stackpanel** </ItemsPanelTemplate> </GroupStyle.Panel> <GroupStyle.ContainerStyle> <Style TargetType="{x:Type GroupItem}"> <Setter Property="Template"> <Setter.Value> <ControlTemplate TargetType="{x:Type GroupItem}"> <Grid> <ItemsPresenter /> </Grid> </ControlTemplate> </Setter.Value> </Setter> </Style> </GroupStyle.ContainerStyle> </GroupStyle> </ListBox.GroupStyle> This should give an idea of what I need to do:

  • WPF DataGridRow Template - how to achieve Selected event

    - by user1809972
    I would like to override the DataGridRow template depending on the datatype of object bound to the grid. If the type is label, it just shows a Label. Otehrwise, it shows the cells. Follwing is the xaml. <DataTrigger Binding="{Binding Path=IsLabel, UpdateSourceTrigger=PropertyChanged}" Value="True"> <Setter Property="Template"> <Setter.Value> <ControlTemplate TargetType="{x:Type DataGridRow}"> <Grid> <Label HorizontalAlignment="Center" Padding="3,3,3,3" FontWeight="Bold" Content="{Binding Id}"/> </Grid> </ControlTemplate> </Setter.Value> </Setter> </DataTrigger> The grid looks ok. But, when the Label is clicked, it doesnt raise the Selection changed event for the DataGridRow. How do I achieve this behaviour? This label should just behave as any other DataGridRow(with the default template). Thanks

  • WPF Image Button formatting

    If I create a button with an image inside, it gets blown up to much larger size than the image. If i try to constrain the size of image, and container button, the image gets cut off: <Button Background="Transparent" Width="18" Height="18" Margin="0,0,0,0" Padding="0,0,0,0" BorderBrush="{x:Null}"> <Image Width="16" Height="16" /> </Button> Native image size is 16x16. • WPF Binding when setting DataTemplate Programically

    - by Daniel
    Hello, I have my little designer tool (my program). On the left side I have TreeView and on the right site I have Accordion. When I select a node I want to dynamically build Accordion Items based on Properties from DataContext of selected node. Selecting nodes works fine, and when I use this sample code for testing it works also. XAML code: <layoutToolkit:Accordion x:Name="accPanel" SelectionMode="ZeroOrMore" SelectionSequence="Simultaneous"> <layoutToolkit:AccordionItem Header="Controller Info"> <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal" DataContext="{Binding}"> <TextBlock Text="Content:" /> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Path=Name}" /> </StackPanel> </layoutToolkit:AccordionItem> </layoutToolkit:Accordion> C# code: private void treeSceneNode_SelectedItemChanged(object sender, RoutedPropertyChangedEventArgs<object> e) { if (e.NewValue != e.OldValue) { if (e.NewValue is SceneNode) { accPanel.DataContext = e.NewValue; //e.NewValue is a class that contains Name property } } } But the problem occurs when I'm trying to achive this using DateTemplate and dynamically build AccordingItem, the Binding is not working: <layoutToolkit:Accordion x:Name="accPanel" SelectionMode="ZeroOrMore" SelectionSequence="Simultaneous"> </layoutToolkit:Accordion> and DateTemplate in my ResourceDictionary <DataTemplate x:Key="dtSceneNodeContent"> <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal" DataContext="{Binding}"> <TextBlock Text="Content:" /> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Path=Name}" /> </StackPanel> </DataTemplate> and C# code: private void treeSceneNode_SelectedItemChanged(object sender, RoutedPropertyChangedEventArgs<object> e) { if (e.NewValue != e.OldValue) { ResourceDictionary rd = new ResourceDictionary(); rd.Source = new Uri("/SilverGL.GUI;component/SilverGLDesignerResourceDictionary.xaml", UriKind.RelativeOrAbsolute); if (e.NewValue is SceneNode) { accPanel.DataContext = e.NewValue; AccordionItem accController = new AccordionItem(); accController.Header = "Controller Info"; accController.ContentTemplate = rd["dtSceneNodeContent"] as DataTemplate; accPanel.Items.Add(accController); } else { // Other type of node } } } I really need help with this issue.
