  I know that if I want to compile a 32 bit .exe for windows on Linux I can just install and use the mingw32 package (e.g. apt-get install mingw32) on linux. What if I want to compile a windows .exe that is 64 bit? Is there tools or a method to do this?

My PHP version is: 5.2.x Windows: Windows 7 64 bit. I have also try to use pecl install mongo but it returned some error like: This DSP mongo.dsp doesn't not exist. Could somebody help?

  I've got some experience with Bash, which I don't mind, but now that I'm doing a lot of Windows development I'm needing to do basic stuff/write basic scripts using the Windows command-line language. For some reason said language really irritates me, so I was considering learning Python and using that instead. Is Python suitable for such things? Moving files around, creating scripts to do things like unzipping a backup and restoring a SQL database, etc.

  I'm trying to deploy a Web Part Feature as part of solution. Solution being add to the store and feature being added successfully. Full trust enabled in Web.Config for bin deployment of the .DLL but Web Part not working when page viewed by a non-admin user... So, decided to deploy to GAC but discovered that gacutil.exe is not included with the OS? The only place I can find it is in the Windows SDK with a download size of over 22GB! I know I can choose to download only certain components, but which ones should I select and are there any dependencies? Better yet, is there an easier way to get a copy of the gacutil.exe tool?

  I'm helping out with a project for an embedded device that only has USB and no serial. This device is running Linux. These days, when we need to connect to a serial port on a device we typically use a USB to serial adapter (on something like a phone system or a load balancing device, etc). I would like to know if it is possible to have the host device behave as though it were a serial adapter, thus removing the need for one. Given the nature of USB, is this approach even necessary? To recap, I would like to be able to connect a single A-to-A USB cable from my workstation (be it windows or linux) to this device, for the purpose of administration (especially initial setup), using minicom, putty or hyperterminal. When I run the wizard to setup the backup I get an error message "The user name being used for accessing the remote share folder is not recognized by the local computer". I have no idea what this means. Help? The server with the network share is a domain controller (also server 2008). The server I am trying to back up is not and is not part of the domain.

  Hi, I have been looking at a couple of laptops... The most important requirement is long battery life, slim & light, and runs Windows 7. One that seems to fit the bill is the Sony Vaio Z series laptops. They claim to have long battery life, have some really impressive specs (on paper) and a very nice design. They are not on sale where I am yet but has seen/used them? Second would be the Lenovo Thinkpad IBM x301 For business users, Thinkpad seems to be the way to go. I have also considered Dell Alienware M11x but may not be completely appropriate for business use? What would you recommend with a budget of USD1500-2000?

  On a new installation of IIS 7.5 I have setup Windows Authentication on my Intranet. The providers I have used are 'NTLM' and negotiate in that order. This works fine in IE and Firefox but in chrome I get the following This web page is not available The web page at http://mysite.com/myintranet.php might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address. Error 338 (net::ERR_INVALID_AUTH_CREDENTIALS): Unknown error. I've tried looking online for a solution without any success. I'm running the latest version of Chrome 21.0.1180.60

• inaccessible_boot_device after p2v Windows 2000 Pro SP4 to Workstation 6.5

  I am using the latest VMware Converter Standalone to p2v a physical Windows 2000 Professional SP4 PC. The PC is a standard Pentium with IDE disk from circa 2001. The disk is 20GB partitioned logically into C: and D. It converts with no errors (I did both disks into one VMDK). When I power on the VM in VMware Workstation 6.5 (or Vmware Player 2.5) it gets to the Win 2000 boot graphic then I get a BSOD with the classic 0x7B Stop error: inaccessible_boot_device. Is there anything I can do to get the vm to boot? I am lost for ideas, normally p2v of a basic IDE pc works flawlessly. I'm willing to put a bounty on this as I am trying to sort this out for a client urgently.
