  • Ripping sound from online video through soundcard?

    Hello There are a couple of videos on the Web whose soundtracks I'd like to rip so I can listen to them at the gym, but all of the web apps like KeepVid that I tried failed downloading them. As a work-around, I'll just play the videos and record the soundtrack for later listening. Are there good applications for Windows, free or affordable, that will let me record whatever is being played on the soundcard? Thank you.

    Hello I am working on a system that needs a user-dependent variable, the user in on Windows XP and is connected to Windows Server 2003. I cannot save this variable in the registry of the local machine under HKCU, because the users are likely to exchange their machines. This variable must be accessible on the whole domain. Do you have any idea of implementing this ? Are there WMI features that may help me ?

    Hello emacs gurus, I'm out of ideas here - my emacs crashes when popup dialog is opened. The x-popup-dialog function is probably to blame but I found no workaround to this. My Emacs version is 23.1.1 . Unfortunately some functionality of emacs calls this (e.x. customize asks whether it should save the changes) which causes the crash. Does anybody know how to fix it or disable it?

    Hello, I installed Ubunut and got the LAMP stack installed too. Now the problem is I have to be connected to the internet for the local apache webserver to work, else it does not. I changed the IP address on the dnshost, in the apache2.conf file, got the servername in the httpd.conf, which was empty. Any ideas guys. Thanks Jean

    Hello, CentOS 5.3 After booting up. I am wondering what is the name of the log file that contains if all services where successfully loaded or not? For example when computer boots you get a list of start services and they can be OK or FAILED. Is there a log file where this information is kept? I had a look in the following directory /var/log/ but not sure which one will contain the informaiton that I need. Many thanks for any advice,

    Hello, Im looking for the best way to accomplish a full backup of our "vmail" accounts on our mail server (CentOS "iRedMail" 5.1). I also need to split on 4GB parts the resulting tar or bzip compressed backup, and get this DVD-RW burned, on same server. The idea is to get this procedure to running overnight, once a week. Our mail server holds about 45GB of information. I will appreciate any advise or help on this topic. Thanks.

Some time before I changed two (2) keys in registry and it sends without asking me for accepting, but I migrated computer and forgot where the keys are.     Hello, i set up a dedicaced server with a tutorial. I set in PHP : mbstring.language=UTF-8 mbstring.internal_encoding=UTF-8 mbstring.http_input=UTF-8 mbstring.http_output=UTF-8 mbstring.detect_order=auto But each time there is a $ in the password (i have one for the root of mysql + other script) the password won't work. For example, I just removed the $ in the password for a script, and it worked. When i connect @root on mysql via phpmyadmin : don't work When i connect @root via PHP : works What can i do for this problem please ?

    Hello, I am running runstats command to update the runtime statistics of a particular table called "CUSTOMER" in DB2. The customer has two columns- CID (integer) and INFO (xml column). After running the command, if I look into the SYSCOLDIST table, the information for column CID is populated correctly. But there is nothing filled for the INFO xml column.     Hello I have a small batch file which xcopies some files from one folder to another which I've scheduled (via windows scheduled tasks) to run every 1 hour: @echo off xcopy c:\foo c:\bar /E /C /F /Y Since this is my workstation, I'm most probably doing work when the task executes, and then the black dos console window is displayed (lasts 2-3 seconds) and steals window focus. I don't wish to see the files copied and of course the batch file does not ask for any user input. Is there a way to avoid displaying the console completely? thanks

Is there a utility program that allows for sending ASCII characters on the USB port that the RS232C device will understand? If possible, I'd rather avoid programming.
