  • Configure nginx to reverse proxy a single url, and issue 301 redirects to everything else

    I am using nginx to issue redirects for a domain we are changing, but one of our old mobile apps becomes broken by this redirect when it issues one specific POST request to the old domain. Here is the current nginx configuration, how could I add a reverse proxy to perform a POST to the URL /post_url and redirect everything else the same as now? server { listen 80; server_name olddomain.com www.olddomain.com; rewrite ^(.*) http://www.newdomain.com$1 permanent; }

  • htaccess rewrite different folder url, two index files

    I've been searching for awhile now and haven't found anything that comes close to what I'm trying to accomplish. Right now my URL's look like this: www.website.com/something which are using the root folder /index.php Now I have created plugins within folders: /plugins/PLUGINNAME/index.php I want to be able to have URLs like: www.website.com/plugins/PLUGINNAME/anything/iwant/here which are all using /plugins/PLUGINNAME/index.php and not the root directory index.php. Currently www.website.com/plugins/PLUGINNAME/ works, but anything after /PLUGINNAME/xxx defaults to the /index.php.

  • Routing protocols, distance vector vs link state

    I'm trying to figure out the differences(pros/cons) between two routing protocols approach and I would be great-full for any help, advice and explanation. As far I can say that it seems like distance vector is more static and more local based routing, since it doesn't know the network state whereas link state is more aware of current states therefore it seems more natural to use it over distance-vector, but I have a feeling like I'm missing something. And I would be glad to here about more aspects and different issues I have to consider while choosing one of them.

  • pix 501, static route to d-link router (different subnet)

    I have pix 501 cisco firewall with internal ip 192.168.10.1. I have connected d-link router (dir-655) to pix 501. The d-link router has internal ip 192.168.0.1 The picture would like something like that: |pix 501| has 192.168.10.1 ip |DIR-655| has 192.168.0.1 ip 1. |cable modem|----|pix 501|-------|DIR-655|-----PC 2. PC--------|pix 501|---------|DIR-655| | | |cable modem| When I'm on the wireless network (dir-655) with assigned ip of 192.168.0.x I can cross the subnet and connect to my firewall 192.168.10.1. (pic. 1) The problem is that if I'm on the 192.168.10.x network I can't connect to anything over at 192.168.0.x network. (pic.2) I've tried entering a static route like this: `route inside 192.168.0.0 255.255.255.0 192.168.10.1 1` I also tried assigning static ip to wan interface on DIR-655 to 192.168.10.30 and then tried this: route inside 192.168.0.0 255.255.255.0 192.168.10.30 1 But still, can't connect to 192.168.0.1 or anything on that subnet. Is there a way to setup a static route? Would adding a separate router between PIX 501 and DIR-655 help? I would think that static route like this should take care of it, but it doesn't. This is my route config and nat: (config)# sh route outside 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 (outside_IP) 1 DHCP static outside (outside_IP) 255.255.248.0 (outside_IP) 1 CONNECT static inside 192.168.0.0 255.255.255.0 192.168.10.1 1 OTHER static inside 192.168.10.0 255.255.255.0 192.168.10.1 1 CONNECT static or (route inside 192.168.0.0 255.255.255.0 192.168.10.30 1) (config)# sh nat nat (inside) 1 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0 0 0 nat (inside) 1 192.168.10.0 255.255.255.0 0 0 nat (inside) 1 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 0 0 I ended up turning DIR-655 into an Access Point (turning off DHCP and pluging cable from PIX lan interface into one of the LAN interfaces on DIR-655, and leaving WAN port empty), that works as far as DIR-655 being on the same subnet now, and I can access every machine. However the question is, why can't I simply route between those two? would router between these two help? One of the reasons is, that the PIX 501 has only 10 licences, so now I'm using almost all of them. (I have few computers, iphones, ps3, print server, etc.) I would really appreciate some help!     There often discussions and many facilities available to download streaming media (eg Youtube, Vimeo, etc), however is there a way it can stream a download link? Currently, my internet connection is prohibitively slow to download a video and I would prefer if I could watch the video while it is still downloading but I couldn't find how to do this. I did find this article but it appears to need your own media server.

  • Organization: Ways to link/group documents with emails?

    I like keeping my stuff organized, but short of printing everything out and keeping it in an actual file cabinet, I've never figured out a good way to link/group document files with related emails. This means that when I'm looking for something, I often have to search in my email program, and then through the documents stored in some filesystem folder. Has anyone out there come up with a neat way to group related stuff like this for searching, archiving, etc?

  • Importing Microsoft .url file to bookmark (Firefox / Mac OS)

    I ran across a situation at work the other day where we were trying to move a pile of .url files on a Windows XP machine to bookmarks under Firefox on Mac OS X 10.5.8. It proved very frustrating, as we didn't have access to the source machine anymore (where we could have exported the bookmarks properly). Does anyone have a solution for that one?

    If I have a web server on my home network I can connect to it from work with http://my.external.ip/whatever/ (assuming NAT and forwarding). Naturally I have a bookmark in my browser that points to http://my.external.ip/whatever/ however when I use that bookmark on my home computer (also behind NAT) the link does not work because my firewall blocks it. (firewall is a old'ish Dlink) What is the best way to fix this issue?

    Anyone got any ideas how to set up a wireless network bridge between the routers mentioned above? I have a router connected to the internet in one part of the house (BTVoyager) but the wireless range doesnt reach to the other end of the house :-( I also have two spare wireless routers(Belkin G+ Mimo and D-Link DSL-G604T) but as far as I can tell neither of them support wireless bridging.

    Intel NICs have a driver option (in Windows) that will log link state events to the system log, so if the network drops out periodically you can determine that fact. Does anyone know of a simple generic solution that does this, in other words one that is not part of the driver from a particular manufacturer? I know there are plenty of 'big iron' network monitoring tools out there but surely there's something really simple that runs as a service in Windows with minimal setup ? TIA

How to do this in a site with apache, which serves static html files only? That is, if there is a apache module, without adding scripts, that would be best.

  • Pasting a download link into google chrome

    When I want to download something in Safari, like http://foo.com/bar.zip, all I have to do is paste that link into the dowloads window. Is there a way to do this in Chrome? I've gotten used to Safari, hitting cmd-alt-L (dowloads window), and then pasting. It's quick, neat, and saves me going to FileSave As... I like to keep my hands on the keyboard, so if there is a quick way to do this without using a mouse, that's my ideal solution.
