  • Specify Action on sub-controller when using Html.RenderAction

    - by iammaz
I have a UserControl that I call with Html.RenderAction(...), so far so good.. Then I want to specify in the user control, which action should be used Html.BeginForm("DeleteComment", "Comments", new { Id = "frmDelete" }, FormMethod.Post);%> <%= Html.SubmitImage( "imgbtnDelete", "/image.png", new { ... })%> <% Html.EndForm(); %> And therein lies my problem; this calls the user control's controller/action. What I want to happen is to call the pages action first and then be able to specify what action to call on the user control's controller. Is this possible?? Thanks from an MVC noob

  • Set selection in Dashcode List Controller

    - by wpearse
    I have a list controller in my Dashcode project, it pulls its data from a dynamic source. After my list controller has loaded its data I'd like to set it's selected index to 0 - so that information for the first item in the list is shown. I can't for the life of me figure out how to do this. I've tried: function load() { dashcode.setupParts(); var list = document.getElementById("itemsList"); //list.setSelectionIndexes(0); // nope //list.selectedIndex = 0; // nope }

  • Test (with RSpec) a controller outside of a Rails environment

    - by ramon.tayag
I'm creating a gem that will generate a controller for the Rails app that will use it. It's been a trial and error process for me when trying to test a controller. When testing models, it's been pretty easy, but when testing controllers, ActionController::TestUnit is not included (as described here). I've tried requiring it, and all similar sounding stuff in Rails but it hasn't worked. What would I need to require in the spec_helper to get the test to work? Thanks!

  • Weird response for controller.request.format.html? in Rails

    - by Tony
In my main controller, I have this: class MainController < ApplicationController before_filter do |controller| logger.info "controller.request.format.html? = #{controller.request.format.html?}" logger.info "controller.request.format.fbml? = #{controller.request.format.fbml?}" controller.send :login_required if controller.request.format.html? controller.send :facebook_auth_required if controller.request.format.fbml? end As expected, I get "true" for the ...fbml? line if a request comes from Facebook (my facebooker gem automatically sets the format). However, I get "5" for the ...html? line if the request comes from Facebook. Why would a method with a ? ever return a "5"? Isn't that against Rails conventions? Also, I think "5" is considered true so this might mess up my filters. Still looking into that... Any ideas?

  • How to overlay view over navigation controller bar?

    - by 0SX
I've sorta got a little problem. I'm trying to add a popoverview to my app but part of the popoverview get's hidden by my navigation controller bar. How can I make my popoverview overlay over top of the navcontrollerbar? Here's an image of the problem: http://img593.imageshack.us/img593/4056/viewn.jpg Here's my code I'm working with: - (IBAction)onButtonClick:(UIButton *)button { if (self.popoverController) { [self.popoverController dismissPopoverAnimated:YES]; self.popoverController = nil; [button setTitle:@"Show Popover" forState:UIControlStateNormal]; } else { UIViewController *contentViewController = [[WEPopoverContentViewController alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewStylePlain]; self.popoverController = [[[WEPopoverController alloc] initWithContentViewController:contentViewController] autorelease]; [self.popoverController presentPopoverFromRect:button.frame inView:self.view permittedArrowDirections:UIPopoverArrowDirectionDown animated:YES]; [contentViewController release]; [button setTitle:@"Hide Popover" forState:UIControlStateNormal]; } } Is there anyway to make this popover above the navigation controller bar? Here is the full source code what I'm working with https://github.com/werner77/WEPopover Hopefully someone knows how to fix this problem, Thanks in advance.

  • PS/2 to USB adapter doesn't work with Model M keyboard

    - by mickburkejnr
I bought a server about 3 months ago from a friend, and I have only had time to tinker with it in the last week. I noticed that this server doesn't have any PS/2 ports, which meant configuring it was near impossible. I don't have any USB keyboards in the house, I only have an IBM Model M keyboard (built 1994) and another IBM keyboard that was built circa 2001. Both of them have PS/2 connections. I bought an adapter off eBay, and when I used it with the Model M keyboard the three lights on the keyboard flashed for a split second, but then the keyboard is then unresponsive. I can bash away at the keys for ages and nothing will happen. The same applies to the later built IBM keyboard. What could I do to make the adapter work? I am getting the loan of a USB keyboard in two weeks time, but I'd like a more permanent solution without having to rely on getting the loan of a keyboard every time I have to perform maintenance on the server. And as I already have two keyboards which work fine and I like using, I don't really want to have to buy another keyboard just for use on the server.

  • Asp.Net MVC - Blank model not returning blank data

    - by Pino
I have a form which a user can fill in x times with the data they want too. The form is posted to the following Action. [HttpPost] public ActionResult Manage(ProductOptionModel DataToAdd) { if (!ModelState.IsValid) { return View(DataToAdd); } var ProdServ = new ProductService(); if (DataToAdd.ID != 0) { //Edit Mode. DataToAdd = ProdServ.EditProductOption(DataToAdd); ViewData["Message"] = "Option Changes Made"; }else { //Add DataToAdd = ProdServ.AddProductOption(DataToAdd); ViewData["Message"] = "New Option Added"; } var RetModel = new ProductOptionModel() {ProductID = DataToAdd.ProductID}; return View(RetModel); } So at the bottom I blank the model (Leaving just the required field) and then return to the view. However the view holds the data from the previously submitted form. Any ideas why? I have debugged the code and checked that the RetModel variable is empty.

  • Sending ExtJS datastore parameter to CI controller

  • ASP.NET MVC 2 - Account controller not found

    - by Chris
Hi all, I've recently created an ASP.NET MVC 2 application, which works perfectly in the development environment. However, when I deploy it to the server (123-reg Premium Hosting), I can access all of the expected areas - except the Account controller (www.host.info/Account). This then attempts to redirect to the Error.aspx page (www.host.info/Shared/Error.aspx) which it cannot find. I've checked that all of the views have been published, and they're all in the correct place. It seems bizarre that two other controllers can be accessed with no problems, whereas the Account controller cannot be found. I have since renamed the AccountController to SecureController, and all of the dependencies, to no avail. The problem with not being able to find the Error.aspx page also occurs on the development environment. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Chris

  • Can we use spring FTL based form validations with any controller other than SimpleFormController

    - by Adhir Aima
Hi, Because of some design specification we have to extend all controllers in spring MVC from a class that extends AbstractCommandController. I am trying to include the spring FTL based form validations in my FTL file, but it gives me an error like Method public org.springframework.web.servlet.support.BindStatus org.springframework.web.servlet.support.RequestContext.getBindStatus(java.lang.String) throws java.lang.IllegalStateException threw an exception when invoked on org.springframework.web.servlet.support.RequestContext@b05cd7 with arguments of types [java.lang.String,] The problematic instruction: == assignment: status=springMacroRequestContext.getBindStatus(path) [on line 120, column 9 in spring.ftl] in user-directive spring.bind [on line 47, column 33 in myProfile.ftl] Java backtrace for programmers: freemarker.template.TemplateModelException: Method public org.springframework.web.servlet.support.BindStatus org.springframework.web.servlet.support.RequestContext.getBindStatus(java.lang.String) throws java.lang.IllegalStateException threw an exception when invoked on org.springframework.web.servlet.support.RequestContext@b05cd7 with arguments of types [java.lang.String,] I have put the command name properly in the controller class and in the controller class, neither the specified name nor the default "command" works. Some help please. And would be much appreciated if it comes with an example. Thanks in advance, Adhir Aima

  • How to get child container reference in View Model

    - by niels-verkaart
Hello, I´m trying to share a Data Service (Entity Manager) wrapped in a Repository from a ViewModel (called 'AVM') in Module A to a ViewModel (called 'BVM') in Module B, and I can't get this working. We use PRISM/Unity 2.0 This is my scenario: A user may open multiple Customer screens (composite view as mini shell) each with another customer (unit of work). We realize this using child containers. Each child container resolves it's own repository with its own Entity manager (the repository is a singleton within the child container). This is done in module A. The main shell has a main region manager, and each Customer screen with its childcontainer creates a scoped region. In each customer screen there is a View 'AV' (connected to ViewModel 'AVM') with a SubRegion (tab control) registered as 'SubRegion'. We create this with a 'Screen Factory' In Module B we have a Customer Orders in View 'BV' and ViewModel 'BVM'. In the constructor of Module B we get the main container by injection. In the initialize method we resolve the (main) region manager and register View 'BV' with it. In the constructor of View 'BV' a ViewModel 'BVM' is injected/created. Now this works, but the ViewModel 'BVM' cannot get the child container. It only get the main container. Is this doable, or do I have to do this another way? Thanks, Niels

  • Add Zend_Navigation to the View with old legacy bootstrap

    - by Grant Collins
Hi, I've been struggling with Zend_Navigation all weekend, and now I have another problem, which I believe has been the cause of a lot of my issues. I am trying to add Zend_Navigation to a legacy 1.7.6 Zend Framework application, i've updated the Zend Library to 1.9.0 and updated the bootstrap to allow this library update. The problem is that I don't know how, and the examples show the new bootstrap method of how to add the Navigation object to the view, I've tried this: //initialise the application layouts with the MVC helpers $layout = Zend_Layout::startMvc(array('layoutPath' => '../application/layouts')); $view = $layout->getView(); $configNav = new Zend_Config_Xml('../application/config/navigation.xml', 'navigation'); $navigation = new Zend_Navigation($configNav); $view->navigation($navigation); $viewRenderer = new Zend_Controller_Action_Helper_ViewRenderer(); $viewRenderer->setView($view); This seems to run through fine, but when I go to use the breadcrumb view helper in my layout, it errors with: Strict Standards: Creating default object from empty value in C:\www\moobia\development\website\application\modules\employers\controllers\IndexController.php on line 27 This is caused by the following code in the init() function of my controller. $uri = $this->_request->getPathInfo(); $activeNav = $this->view->navigation()->findByUri($uri); <- this is null when called $activeNav->active = true; I believe it's because the Zend_Navigation object is not in the view. I would look at migrating the bootstrap to the current method, but at present I am running out of time for a release. Thanks, Grant

  • ASP.NET MVC F# controller action ignoring parameter

    - by Matt H
Hi. I have a C# ASP.NET MVC project but my controllers are written in F#. For some reason, the following code doesn't work properly. namespace MvcApplication8.Controllers open System.Web.Mvc [<HandleError>] type ImageController() = inherit Controller() member x.Index (i : int) : ActionResult = x.Response.Write i x.View() :> ActionResult The parameter of the action is seemingly ignored. http://localhost:56631/Image/Index/1 = The parameters dictionary contains a null entry for parameter 'i' of non-nullable type 'System.Int32' for method 'System.Web.Mvc.ActionResult Index(Int32)' in 'MvcApplication8.Controllers.ImageController'. An optional parameter must be a reference type, a nullable type, or be declared as an optional parameter. Parameter name: parameters The controller otherwise works fine. I know that plenty of people have written F# mvc code, so, any ideas where I'm going wrong?

  • access exception when invoking method of an anonymous class using java reflection

    - by Asaf David
Hello I'm trying to use an event dispatcher to allow a model to notify subscribed listeners when it changes. the event dispatcher receives a handler class and a method name to call during dispatch. the presenter subscribes to the model changes and provide a Handler implementation to be called on changes. Here's the code (I'm sorry it's a bit long). EventDispacther: package utils; public class EventDispatcher<T> { List<T> listeners; private String methodName; public EventDispatcher(String methodName) { listeners = new ArrayList<T>(); this.methodName = methodName; } public void add(T listener) { listeners.add(listener); } public void dispatch() { for (T listener : listeners) { try { Method method = listener.getClass().getMethod(methodName); method.invoke(listener); } catch (Exception e) { System.out.println(e.getMessage()); } } } } Model: package model; public class Model { private EventDispatcher<ModelChangedHandler> dispatcher; public Model() { dispatcher = new EventDispatcher<ModelChangedHandler>("modelChanged"); } public void whenModelChange(ModelChangedHandler handler) { dispatcher.add(handler); } public void change() { dispatcher.dispatch(); } } ModelChangedHandler: package model; public interface ModelChangedHandler { void modelChanged(); } Presenter: package presenter; public class Presenter { private final Model model; public Presenter(Model model) { this.model = model; this.model.whenModelChange(new ModelChangedHandler() { @Override public void modelChanged() { System.out.println("model changed"); } }); } } Main: package main; public class Main { public static void main(String[] args) { Model model = new Model(); Presenter presenter = new Presenter(model); model.change(); } } Now, I except to get the "model changed" message. However, I'm getting an java.lang.IllegalAccessException: Class utils.EventDispatcher can not access a member of class presenter.Presenter$1 with modifiers "public". I understand that the class to blame is the anonymous class i created inside the presenter, however I don't know how to make it any more 'public' than it currently is. If i replace it with a named nested class it seem to work. It also works if the Presenter and the EventDispatcher are in the same package, but I can't allow that (several presenters in different packages should use the EventDispatcher) any ideas?

  • NSFetchedResultsControllerDelegate in a second view controller (not firing?)

    - by MTBPatriot
I am running into an issue similar to the one described here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1319940/nsfetchedresultscontrollerdelegate-not-firing (the delegate for my NSFetchedResultsControllerDelegate are not being called on my second view controller) I can't seem to get the proposed solutions to work. I have a main view that loads information from Core Data just fine, but when it pushes a separate controller (and passes the managed object to it), the delegate methods won't fire. I've read about 'mergeChangesFromContextDidSaveNotification' but I don't understand how to synchronize the two manage objects and/or get the delegate methods to be called. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Mike

  • model view controller question

    - by songBong
Hi, I've been working on my iphone game recently and came across a forked road when deciding the design of my various classes. So far I've adhered to the MVC pattern but the following situation had me confused: I have 4 buttons displayed visually. Each button though consists of a container UIView (which I've subclassed) and 2 UIButtons (also subclassed) as subviews. When you press a button, it does the flip effect plus other stuff. The user input is using target-action from my container UIView to my controller. This part is ok, the following part is the debatable part: So I've subclassed the container view as well as the UIButtons and I need to add more data/methods (somewhere) to do more things. Putting data that needs to be serialized and non-rendering related code in the view classes seems to break the MVC design but at the moment, it makes the most sense to me to put it there. It's almost like my subclassed views are their own little MVC's and it seems neat. Separating out the data/methods from the view to my main controller in this case seems unnecessary and a more work. How should I be doing it? Thanks heaps.

  • Problem updating a database field from my controller

    - by ben
I have an update method in my users controller that I call from a HTTPService in Flex 4. The update method is as follows: def updateName @user = User.find_by_email(params[:email]) @user.name = params[:nameNew] render :nothing => true end This is console output: Processing UsersController#updateName (for 127.0.0.1 at 2010-05-24 14:12:49) [POST] Parameters: {"action"="updateName", "nameNew"="ben", "controller"="users", "email"="[email protected]"} User Load (0.6ms) SELECT * FROM "users" WHERE ("users"."email" = '[email protected]') LIMIT 1 Completed in 20ms (View: 1, DB: 1) | 200 OK [http://localhost/users/updateName] But when I check my database, the name field is never updated. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for reading.

  • How can I stop SQL Server Management Studio replacing 'SELECT *' with the column list ?

    - by Ben McIntyre
SQL Server Mgmt Studio is driving me crazy. If I create a view and SELECT '*' from a table, it's all OK and I can save the view. Looking at the SQL for the view (eg.by scripting a CREATE) reveals that the 'SELECT *' really is saved to the view's SQL. But as soon as I reopen the view using the GUI (right click modify), SELECT * is replaced with a column list of all the columns in the table. How can I stop Management Studio from doing this ? I want my 'SELECT *' to remain just that. Perhaps it's just the difficulty of googling 'SELECT *' that prevented me from finding anything remotely relevant to this (i did put it in double quotes). Please, I am highly experienced in Transact-SQL, so please DON'T give me a lecture on why I shouldn't be using SELECT *. I know all the pros and cons and I do use it at times. It's a language feature, and like all language features can be used for good or evil (I emphatically do NOT agree that it is never appropriate to use it). Edit: I'm giving Marc the answer, since it seems it is not possible to turn this behaviour off. Problem is considered closed. I note that Enterprise Manager did no similar thing. The workaround is to either edit SQL as text, or go to a product other than Managment Studio. Or constantly edit out the column list and replace the * every time you edit a view. Sigh.

  • Render action return View(); form problem

    - by Roger Rogers
    I'm new to MVC, so please bear with me. :-) I've got a strongly typed "Story" View. This View (story) can have Comments. I've created two Views (not partials) for my Comments controller "ListStoryComments" and "CreateStoryComment", which do what their names imply. These Views are included in the Story View using RenderAction, e.g.: <!-- List comments --> <h2>All Comments</h2> <% Html.RenderAction("ListStoryComments", "Comments", new { id = Model.Story.Id }); %> <!-- Create new comment --> <% Html.RenderAction("CreateStoryComment", "Comments", new { id = Model.Story.Id }); %> (I pass in the Story id in order to list related comments). All works as I hoped, except, when I post a new comment using the form, it returns the current (parent) View, but the Comments form field is still showing the last content I typed in and the ListStoryComments View isn’t updated to show the new story. Basically, the page is being loaded from cache, as if I had pressed the browser’s back button. If I press f5 it will try to repost the form. If I reload the page manually (reenter the URL in the browser's address bar), and then press f5, I will see my new content and the empty form field, which is my desired result. For completeness, my CreateStoryComment action looks like this: [HttpPost] public ActionResult CreateStoryComment([Bind(Exclude = "Id, Timestamp, ByUserId, ForUserId")]Comment commentToCreate) { try { commentToCreate.ByUserId = userGuid; commentToCreate.ForUserId = userGuid; commentToCreate.StoryId = 2; // hard-coded for testing _repository.CreateComment(commentToCreate); return View(); } catch { return View(); } }

  • Rails: AJAX Controller JS not firing...

  • How to force asp.net MVC 2 to redirect to default controller/action

    - by Chris
In a brand new ASP.NET MVC2 project, I want the user to be redirected to http://<mysite>/home/index rather than http://<mysite>/ We do this with our other sites for tracking purposes, to avoid the scenario where hits to the same default page show up as http://<mysite>/ http://<mysite>/default.aspx How do I accomplish this so that http://<mysite>/ automatically redirects to whatever default controller/action I have set up in my routing? Please note that I am aware the two are functionally equivalent, as the default controller action will be executed either way. I'm just interested in forcing consistent URLs in the browser.

  • Codeigniter redirect repeats controller name in URL

    - by Obay
This is my controller: class Timesheet extends Controller { ... function index() { //loads view with a form that submits to "timesheet/change_date" } function summary() { //loads view with a form that submits to "timesheet/change_week" } function change_date() { ... redirect('timesheet'); } function change_week() { ... redirect('timesheet/summary'); } ... } The first form is located at http://localhost/dts/index.php/timesheet and when I submit the change_date form, it correctly goes thru the change_date() function and re-loads http://localhost/dts/index.php/timesheet correctly. However, the second form is located at http://localhost/dts/index.php/timesheet/summary, and when I submit the change-week form, it goes thru the change_week() function but goes to http://localhost/dts/index.php/timesheet/timesheet/change_week. Notice the word timesheet is repeated. When I submit the form again, another timesheet is added. What's wrong and how do I improve my code? My .htaccess is below: RewriteEngine on RewriteCond $1 !^(index\.php|webroot|robots\.txt) RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php/$1 [L]
