  • Using both IIS6 and IIS7 with the same SQL State Server

    We are trying to use new IIS7 (32bit, Classic Mode) webs in addition to our IIS6 webs with one SQL State Server for ASP.NET Session Handling. Unfortunately the number of transactions per seconds in the State Servers spikes (10 times+) as soon as we add the new IIS7 web to the farm. Are there any known issues with the described setup?

    We are tring to install SQL Server 2005 Standard on Windows 2008 Standard both 64 bit. Have done this before with no problems. This time we get an error during the installation of client tools: There was an unexpected failure during the setup wizard Link Id 20476, message ID 50000 There are no errors in the event log. Anybody have any ideas what could be wrong?

  • PHP+AJAX with MySQL - Query every 2 seconds, too many in TIME_WAIT

    I have a basic HTML file, using jQuery's ajax, that is connecting to my polling.php script every 2 seconds. The polling.php simply connections to mysql, checks for ID's newer than my hidden, stored current ID, and then echo's if there is anything new. Since the javascript is connecting every 2 seconds, I am getting thousands of connections in TIME_WAIT, just for my client. This is because my script is re-connecting to MySQL over and over again. I have tried mysql_pconnect but it didn't help any. Is there any way I can get PHP to open 1 connection, and continue to query using it? Instead of reconnecting every single time and making all these TIME_WAIT connections. Unsure what to do here to make this work properly.

  • mysql connector/net ssl shutsdown the server

    Hello, when I try to connect my server throw connector/net using ssl with pfx certificate I had problem with establishing the connection. I get connection timeout. And the server probably fall down (I dont know it for sure, becouse I dont manage the server). On the Windows XP works all right, but on Windows 7 dont. Please, where is problem? In Windows 7 or on the server (mysql 5.0)? Sometimes I get "Calling interface SSPI Failed" error, but not everytime. Sometimes is only connection timeout error. Thank you a lot for any help.   • Munin does not show Apache/mySQL stats in web view

    I'm facing a very strange Problem. I just set up Munin on a fresh Ubuntu slice with a common LAMP Stack. Everything works great, except that Munin does just not show the Apache/mySQL stats in the web view. Everything else in the web view works great, Apache works, mySQL works. I even tried calling the plugins via console: sudo munin-run apache_accesses And it works fine. AFAIK Munin log files are not telling me any problems.. My only hint: when I run munin-run without sudo it gives me a "Permission denied" - could this be the problem?

    I am stumped, and was hoping someone here would have a quick and easy answer. I did a fresh install of MySQL 5.5 and am trying to pass parameters into a stored procedure. The parameter values aren't being read by the stored procedure. MySQL doesn't throw an error and processes the code with null parameters. Here is the code: DELIMITER $$ CREATE DEFINER=`root`@`%` PROCEDURE `testing`(IN parameter INTEGER) BEGIN UPDATE table_name SET valueToChange = 'Test' WHERE mainID = @parameter; END And here is the query I'm using to call it: USE database_name; CALL testing(72); Can anyone help?

    Im in the process of setting up a new database server. I have been running a few mysql database servers before and it has been working okay. But i would like to hear the recommended setup for my server. For example, what should i set the max connection, query_cache_size, table_cache and so on. I have arround 4-600 per second: Open tables: 112 Queries per second avg: 430.386. The server i am setting it up on have the following configuration: Linux version 2.6.32-5-amd64 (Debian 2.6.32-41squeeze2) 2x Intel Xeon X3440 @ 2.53GHz 4GB Ram /, /boot, /tmp etc on Software RAID1, 2x 7200RPM SATA Data location on Software RAID0, 2x7200RPM SATA Im am going to place the mysql databases on the RAID0.   • What kind of server hardware is roughly necessary to serve website to 10k users?

    I've been looking at VPS's and the specs they offer for entry level setups seems somewhat surprising to me. I'm am new to this topic but many of VPS offer less than 512MB of memory and my laptop has 4GB of memory so I am curious what does it actually take in terms of hardware to serve say 10k users (say 5k daily active users)? I figure a large number of factors can probably sway this a lot but just for benchmarking, say the site is a social networking site written in php using mysql + apache that's not really doing anything unusual like serving lots of media. So essentially a very basic Facebook minus the absurd number of photos and videos. What about 100k users (50k daily active)? 1 million (500k daily active)? Thanks in advance.

    I'm trying to backup a bunch of MyISAM tables in a way that would allow me to rsync/rdiff the backup directory to a remote location. I've came up with a script that dumps only the recently changed tables and sets the date of the file so that rsync can pick up only the changed ones, but now I don't know how to do the error handling - I would like the script to exit with a non 0 value if there are errors.   • mysql connection is slow (5seconds)

    After building my webapp on a first boot i create 2 connections to mysql on debian then 1-2 (r/w) for every page after that. The connection consistently take 5.2 seconds to connect. Debian is in a VM running in my OS. Why is the connection taking this long? At times it will take < 0.1 seconds which is great but 5.2 x2-3 on every run is to much. Has anyone experience this problem? how do i solve it? note: I am using .NET to connect. Not that it matters. and its mysql v5

  • TIME column in TOP command for mysql

    When I run top on my database server I get that mysqld has been running for 4:00.51 and it continues to go up. I assume this means that one process with mysql has been running this long from other posts on here. Its not set to cumulative mode as best I can tell as the heading looks like it would change to CTIME if that be the case. What I'm wondering is if this is normal for a site that makes a lot of individual connections using PHP. I shouldn't have any long running processes that would hold on to a mysql connection for this long, only seconds at most. Am I incorrect to assume that this time relates to one connection/process running? I think usually I see it flash up and away on the TOP, not just stay there with this number increasing.

    I am trying to setup HAProxy with MySQL failover with Ubuntu. I used a setup similar to this serverfault question, however I am getting the following error when starting haproxy: [ALERT] 341/220001 (17405) : parsing [/etc/haproxy/haproxy.cfg:29] : unknown option 'mysql-check'. [ALERT] 341/220001 (17405) : Error(s) found in configuration file : /etc/haproxy/haproxy.cfg [ALERT] 341/220001 (17405) : Fatal errors found in configuration. I even tried installing the lastest version of HAProxy (1.4.22). Does anyone know how to fix this? I have Google'd the heck out of it and can't find any solution. Thanks for your time!

  • Java application server behind IIS 7.5 on Windows Server 2008

    I have a Java application server (GlassFish, indeed, but the problem is the same for any other application server, I guess), running on port 8080. And I have IIS 7.5 listening on port 80 as by default configuration. I want to avoid people typing the port because it's unprofessional. So I want that when somebody types http://myserver the traffic is directed to IIS. And this is how it already works now. But I also want that when somebody types http://myserver/java the traffic is directed to port 8080 and consequently my GlassFish splash screen is displayed. If I have deployed an application on GlassFish under context root app1, typing http://myserver/java/app1 should access the application. How can I do this? I have tried with adding some rules with the URL Rewrite utility from IIS7.5 UI, but this shows the port after the rule has rewritten the url, and I want to avoid it.

    The Archive Storage Engine is not enabled by the default build of MySQL in CentOS/RHEL. I would like to enable it on our CentOS 5.4 server. My initial reaction was to modify the SPEC file for the SRPMS file, but this indicates that this might not be that easy. There's always the option to build from MySQL source, but I would prefer if possible to stay within the RPMS/Yum world. Does anybody have a successful approach to this by using RPMS/SRPMS/Yum? Some patches which makes this work flawless with SRPMS?

    Hi all, When I installed MySQL server in Windows, there was an option "Allow root connection from remote machine". I checked that option and I had no probs when using it. I installed MySQL server in Ubuntu 9.04 using apt-get install. I can connect to the sql server from the same machine but when I try to connect from a virtual machine, it doesn't work. My guess is that I should allow root connection from remote machine. How to do that?

  • Systemctl hangs trying to start MySQL on Fedora

    When I try to start Mysql on Fedora via systemctl start mysqld.service, it hangs indefinitely and never starts. Running mysqld_safe --skip-grant-tables & or mysqld_safe --nowatch --basedir=/usr starts the server just fine, indicating the database is still there, but using service or systemctl doesn't work at all. Nothing is shown in /var/log/mysqld.log. However, `/var/log/messages shows thousands of messages like: Oct 29 15:55:52 myserver systemd[1]: mysqld.service holdoff time over, scheduling restart. Oct 29 15:55:52 myserver systemd[1]: Job pending for unit, delaying automatic restart. How do I diagnose what's wrong and get MySQL to start?

  • Server 2008 Likes to restart itself

    I have a weird issue here. I notice about once a week the web server restarts itself. This would be only a minor issue if we were not planning on implementing an IP failover. I have checked the event logs. I don't see anything that indicates a reason for the restart. I need some help diagnosing the reason the server restarts. It happened last night at 5:00AM Last even in the log was 1 hour before the unexpected shutdown. Here is the Log for the shutdown event. Any help is much appreciated.   • Setting up a SQL server outside the domain

    Hi, im very new to this. I've set up an account "SQLBOX" thats on the a network, but not connected to the domain. I have installed an instance of SQL Server 2008 and am trying to connect to it from another machine on the network but am getting "Cannot connect to "SQLBOX"". From the "SQLBOX" i can connect to sqlservers on the domain, but not vice-versa. Any help would be grately appreciated. Sorry if the description isn't great. Thanks

When i configure the virtual machine in hyper-v i configure 4gb of ram then few days later y change it to 12gb of Ram Problem the problem is when i change the ram the virtual machine star working slower and i have to return the 4gb of ram. i cretae a new virtual machine and i configure the virtual machine with 12gb of ram from start but still working to slow do you know how to solve this problem in hyper-v?

    Increasingly I'm getting tables having to be repaired dwith the message returned of: Auto-increment value: 0 is smaller than max used value: xx This has happened on tables with 200 rows and tables with ~3 million rows, but so far the same few tables have had the problem. I'm running MySQL 5.0.22. The repairs are run by a script which checks every minute for the need to repair MySQL tables. I also have an automated backup of the 6 Gigabyte database running very two hours and the repairs always get trigged around the time of the backup. Any ideas?
