  • How to get an array to check in the in_array function? See description Below...

    - by Parth
    I am fetching the data using mysql_fetch_array like : while($row = mysql_fetch_array($select)) { $tables[] =$row; } Now i need this $tables array as one dimensional array only, so that i can use it in if(in_array($val['table_name'],$tables)) { //Some Code } to check for whether the $val['table_name'] is in the $tables or not.. As for now I am getting $tables array as Array ( [0] => Array ( [TABLE_NAME] => jos_audittrail ) [1] => Array ( [TABLE_NAME] => jos_banner ) [2] => Array ( [TABLE_NAME] => jos_bannerclient ) .. .. .. .. } But I need the $tables is form of.. Array ( [0] => jos_audittrail [TABLE_NAME] => jos_audittrail [1] => jos_banner [TABLE_NAME] => jos_banner [2] => jos_bannerclient [TABLE_NAME] => jos_bannerclient .. .. .. } How can i get the above array after applying "while loop" to "$row"?

    i recently wrote a method to cycle through /usr/share/dict/words and return a list of palindromes using my ispalindrome(x) method here's some of the code...what's wrong with it? it just stalls for 10 minutes and then returns a list of all the words in the file def reverse(a): return a[::-1] def ispalindrome(a): b = reverse(a) if b.lower() == a.lower(): return True else: return False wl = open('/usr/share/dict/words', 'r') wordlist = wl.readlines() wl.close() for x in wordlist: if not ispalindrome(x): wordlist.remove(x) print wordlist

  • PHP: Find element with certain property value in array

    - by Svish
    I'm sure there is an easy way to do this, but I can't think of it right now. Is there an array function or something that lets me search through an array and find the item that has a certain property value? For example: $people = array( array( 'name' => 'Alice', 'age' => 25, ), array( 'name' => 'Waldo', 'age' => 89, ), array( 'name' => 'Bob', 'age' => 27, ), ); How can I find and get Waldo?

  • Ruby: rules for implicit hashes

    - by flyer
    Why second output shows me only one element of Array? Is it still Array or Hash already? def printArray(arr) arr.each { | j | k, v = j.first printf("%s %s %s \n", k, v, j) } end print "Array 1\n" printArray( [ {kk: { 'k1' => 'v1' }}, {kk: { 'k2' => 'v2' }}, {kk: { 'k3' => 'v3' }}, ]) print "Array 2\n" printArray( [ kk: { 'k1' => 'v1' }, kk: { 'k2' => 'v2' }, kk: { 'k3' => 'v3' }, ]) exit # Output: # # Array 1 # kk {"k1"=>"v1"} {:kk=>{"k1"=>"v1"}} # kk {"k2"=>"v2"} {:kk=>{"k2"=>"v2"}} # kk {"k3"=>"v3"} {:kk=>{"k3"=>"v3"}} # Array 2 # kk {"k3"=>"v3"} {:kk=>{"k3"=>"v3"}}

  • C# Type Casting at Runtimefor Array.SetValue

    - by sprocketonline
    I'm trying to create an array using reflection, and insert values into it. I'm trying to do this for many different types so would like a createAndFillArray function capable of this : Type t1 = typeof(A); Type t2 = typeof(B); double exampleA = 22.5; int exampleB = 43; Array arrA = createAndFillArray(t1, exampleA); Array arrB = createAndFillArray(t2, exampleB); private Array createAndFillArray(Type t, object val){ Array arr = Array.CreateInstance( t, 1); //length 1 in this example only, real-world is of variable length. arr.SetValue( val, 0 ); //this causes the following error: "System.InvalidCastException : Object cannot be stored in an array of this type." return arr; } with the class A being as follows: public class A{ public A(){} private double val; public double Value{ get{ return val; } set{ this.val = value; } } public static implicit operator A(double d){ A a = new A(); a.Value = d; return a; } } and class B being very similar, but with int: public class B{ public B(){} private double val; public double Value{ get{ return val; } set{ this.val = value; } } public static implicit operator B(double d){ B b = new B(); b.Value = d; return b; } } I hoped that the implicit operator would have ensured that the double be converted to class A, or the int to class B, and the error avoided; but this is obviously not so. The above is used in a custom deserialization class, which takes data from a custom data format and fills in the corresponding .Net object properties. I'm doing this via reflection and at runtime, so I think both are unavoidable. I'm targeting the C# 2.0 framework. I've dozens, if not hundreds, of classes similar to A and B, so would prefer to find a solution which improved on the createAndFillArray method rather than a solution which altered these classes.

  • Object inside of array -- works in one scope but not in another?

    - by Earlz
    Ok I've been learning some of the more advanced aspects of Javascript and now trying to use this I'm stuck. Here is my code: function Data(){} function init(state){ var item; item=new Data(); item.fieldrid=17; item.description='foo'; state.push(item); }; function findInState(state,fieldrid) { for (var item in state) { alert(item.fieldrid); //prints undefined if (item.fieldrid == fieldrid) { return item; } } return null; } var s=[]; init(s); alert(s[0].fieldrid); //prints 17 (expected) alert(findInState(s,17).fieldrid); //exception here. function returns null. A running example is here at jsbin Why does this not work? I would expect the alert in findInState to yield 17 but instead it yields undefined. What am I doing wrong?

  • Working with Form Array's in Coldfusion?

    - by Jakub
    I have no idea how to handle this in coldfusion 9, I have a form being submitted (POST) with element checkboxes, called items[]. When I do a <cfdump var="#form#" /> no-problem, I get all the items shown with the proper names like items[] eg: struct ITEMS[] 13,14 FIELDNAMES ITEMS[] however doing a <cfdump var="#form.items[]#" /> results in an error. How do I access the CF9 field values? Somehow loop through it? I cannot seem to do anything with the array to get the id's out of it? Thoughts, I'm kindof stumped and coldfusion isn't the easiest language to find examples / references on the net ;) Is there a correct way to deal with this? I need to get the ID's out of there so I can referenc what lines were checked in the form, so I can follow up with an action. Thanks!

  • C++ Array of pointers: delete or delete []?

    - by Jasper
    Cosider the following code: class Foo { Monster* monsters[6]; Foo() { for (int i = 0; i < 6; i++) { monsters[i] = new Monster(); } } virtual ~Foo(); } What is the correct destructor? this: Foo::~Foo() { delete [] monsters; } or this: Foo::~Foo() { for (int i = 0; i < 6; i++) { delete monsters[i]; } } I currently have the uppermost constructor and everything is working okey, but of course I cannot see if it happens to be leaking... Personally, I think the second version is much more logical considering what I am doing. Anyway, what is the "proper" way to do this?

    Hi, I have an array of numbers jumbled up from 0-9. How do I sort them in ascending order? Array.Sort doesn't work for me. Is there another way to do it? Thanks in advance. - by user280381
    Example: $arr = array('apple'='sweet','grapefruit'='bitter','pear'='tasty','banana'='yellow'); I want to switch the positions of grapefruit and pear, so the array will become 'apple'='sweet','pear'='tasty','grapefruit'='bitter','banana'='yellow') I know the keys and values of the elements I want to switch, is there an easy way to do this? Or will it require a loop + creating a new array? Thanks

  • PHP Array saved to Text file

    - by coffeemonitor
    I've saved a response from an outside server to a text file, so I don't need to keep running connection requests. Instead, perhaps I can use the text file for my manipulation purposes, until I'm read for re-connecting again. (also, my connection requests are limited to this outside server) Here is what I've saved to a text file: records.txt Array ( [0] => stdClass Object ( [id] => 552 [date_created] => 2012-02-23 10:30:56 [date_modified] => 2012-03-09 18:55:26 [date_deleted] => 2012-03-09 18:55:26 [first_name] => Test [middle_name] => [last_name] => Test [home_phone] => (123) 123-1234 [email] => [email protected] ) [1] => stdClass Object ( [id] => 553 [date_created] => 2012-02-23 10:30:56 [date_modified] => 2012-03-09 18:55:26 [date_deleted] => 2012-03-09 18:55:26 [first_name] => Test [middle_name] => [last_name] => Test [home_phone] => (325) 558-1234 [email] => [email protected] ) ) There's actually more in the Array, but I'm sure 2 are fine. Since this is a text file, and I want to pretend this is the actual outside server (sending me the same info), how do I make it a real array again? I know I need to open the file first: <?php $fp = fopen('records.txt', "r"); // open the file $theData = fread($fh, filesize('records.txt')); fclose($fh); echo $theData; ?> So far $theData is a string value. Is there a way to convert it back to the Array it originally came in as?

  • Nested foreach loops for associative array combinations

    - by JohnL
    I have an associative array as follows: $myarray = array('a'=>array(), 'b'=>array(), 'c'=>array(), 'd'=>array()); I want to be able to get all pairs of elements in the array. If it wasn't an associative array, I would use nested for loops, like: for($i=0; $i<count($myarray); $i++) { for($j=$i+1; $j<count($myarray); $j++) { do_something($myarray[$i], $myarray[$j]); } } I have looked at using foreach loops, but as the inner loop goes through ALL elements, some pairs are repeated. Is there a way to do this? Thanks!

  • Is it good practice to initialize array in C/C++?

    - by sand
    I recently encountered a case where I need to compare two files (golden and expected) for verification of test results and even though the data written to both the files were same, the files does not match. On further investigation, I found that there is a structure which contains some integers and a char array of 64 bytes, and not all the bytes of char array were getting used in most of the cases and unused fields from the array contain random data and that was causing the mismatch. This brought me ask the question whether it is good practice to initialize the array in C/C++ as well, as it is done in Java?

  • php array regular expressions

    - by bell
    I am using regular expressions in php to match postcodes found in a string. The results are being returned as an array, I was wondering if there is any way to assign variables to each of the results, something like $postcode1 = first match found $postcode2 = second match found here is my code $html = "some text here bt123ab and another postcode bt112cd"; preg_match_all("/([a-zA-Z]{2})([0-9]{2,3})([a-zA-Z]{2})/", $html, $matches, PREG_SET_ORDER); foreach ($matches as $val) { echo $val[0]; } I am very new to regular expressions and php, forgive me if this is a stupid question. Thanks in advance
