  • add button to navigationbar programatically

    - by mac
Hi i need to set the button on right side, in navigation bar, programatically , so that if i press the button i will perform some actions, i have created the navigation bar, programatically by navBar=[[UINavigationBar alloc]initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0,0,320,44) ]; similarly i need to add the button , right side of this navigation bar,for that i used, 1) UIView* container = [[UIView alloc] init]; // create a button and add it to the container UIButton* button = [[UIButton alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 130, 44.01)]; [container addSubview:button]; [button release]; // add another button button = [[UIButton alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(160, 0, 50, 44.01)]; [container addSubview:button]; [button release]; // now create a Bar button item UIBarButtonItem* item = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithCustomView:container]; // set the nav bar's right button item self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = item; [item release]; 2) UIImage *im; im=[UIImage imageNamed:@"back.png"]; [button setImage:im forState:UIControlStateNormal]; [im release]; backButton = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithCustomView:button]; [backButton setImageInsets:UIEdgeInsetsMake(0, -10,5, 5)]; [self.navigationItem setRightBarButtonItem:backButton]; 3) UIBarButtonItem *refreshItem = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithTitle:@"button" style:UIBarButtonItemStylePlain target:self action:@selector(refreshLogsAction:)]; self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = refreshItem; [refreshItem release]; i tried all these type of codings , no use, these codes are not displaying the button at rigth side, please help me. thanks in advance,

  • iPhone: value of selectedIndex for tab should be consistent, but isn't

    - by Janine
This should be so simple... but something screwy is happening. My setup looks like this: MainViewController Tab Bar Controller 4 tabs, each of which loads WebViewController My AppDelegate contains an ivar, tabBarController, which is connected to the tab bar controller (this was all set up in Interface Builder). The leftmost tab is marked "selected" in IB. Within the viewWillAppear method in WebViewController, I need to know which tab was just selected so I can load the correct URL. I do this by switching on appDelegate.tabBarController.selectedIndex. When the app first runs and the leftmost tab is selected, selectedIndex is a large garbage value. After that, I get values from 0 to 3, which is as it should be, but they are in random order. Not only that, but each tab I touch reports a different value each time. This app is extremely simple right now and I can't imagine what I could have done to make things go this wrong. Has anyone seen (and hopefully solved) this behavior? Update: we have a request for code. There's not much to see. The tab bar controller gets loaded in applicationDidFinishLaunching: [self.mainViewController view]; //force nib to load [self.window addSubview:self.mainViewController.tabBarController.view] There is currently no code whatsoever in MainViewController.m other than the synthesize and release for tabBarController. From WebVewController.m: - (void)viewWillAppear:(BOOL)_animation { [super viewWillAppear:_animation]; NSURL *url; switch([S_UIDelegate mainViewController].tabBarController.selectedIndex) { case 0: url = [NSURL URLWithString:@"http://www.cnn.com"]; break; case 1: url = [NSURL URLWithString:@"http://www.facebook.com"]; break; case 2: url = [NSURL URLWithString:@"http://www.twitter.com"]; break; case 3: url = [NSURL URLWithString:@"http://www.google.com"]; break; default: url = [NSURL URLWithString:@"http://www.msnbc.com"]; } NSURLRequest *request = [NSURLRequest requestWithURL:url]; [webView loadRequest:request]; } This is where I'm seeing the random values.

  • Multiple views and source list in a Core Data app

    - by Ellie P.
I'm working on my first major Cocoa app for an undergraduate research project. The application is document-based and uses Core Data. One of the entities is an abstract entity, Page. Page is parent of several types of pages: ie PageWithHeaderAndFooter, PageWithTwoColumns, BasicPage etc. Page has attributes, such as title and author, that all pages have in common. Each specific type of page has a certain number of layout blocks (PageWithHeaderAndFooter has three: header, footer, body. BasicPage has one: body. etc.) Additionally, all Page subclasses define layout-specific implementations of certain methods. The other relevant entity is Style, which defines the visual look of a Page. (Think of Pages as HTML and Style as CSS.) I would like my app to have an iTunes/Mail-like source list with sections. (One section would be Pages, the other would be Styles.) I have a pretty good idea how to do the sectioned source list (this was a great help). However, after hours of headbanging and fruitless googling, here's what I can't figure out: Pages and Styles listed in the source list, and when you select one of them, all of the relevant fields for that object appear at the right (mostly NSTextViews, pop up menus, etc). I laid that out and did all of the bindings in Interface Builder. The problem is, if my source list contains different types of pages, how do I get a different view to display at the right depending on the type of page selected? For example, if a BasicPage is selected, I want just what you see above: the general page stuff and one NSTextView that corresponds to the one field body of BasicPage. But if I select a PageWithHeaderAndFooter, I want to display the general page stuff plus three NSTextViews (one for header, body, and footer.) If I have a Style selected, I want to display various pop up menus, color wells, etc. For the pages at least, we're only talking about one or more NSTextViews, each of which corresponds to a String attribute of the respective entity. How would you do this? Thank you for your help!

  • trying to draw scaled UIImage in custom view, but nothing's rendering

    - by Ben Collins
I've created a custom view class and right now just want to draw an image scaled to fit the view, given a UIImage. I tried just drawing the UIImage.CGImage, but as others have attested to on this site (and in the docs), that renders the image upside down. So, at the suggestion of an answer I found to another question, I'm trying to draw it directly, but nothing is rendering in the view and I'm not sure why. Here's my drawing code: - (void)drawRect:(CGRect)rect { // Drawing code [super drawRect:rect]; if (self.originalImage) { [self drawImage]; } } - (void) drawImage { if (CGSizeEqualToSize(originalImage.size, self.frame.size) == NO) { CGFloat scaleFactor = 1.0; CGFloat scaledWidth = 0.0; CGFloat scaledHeight = 0.0; CGPoint thumbPoint = CGPointMake(0.0, 0.0); CGFloat widthFactor = self.frame.size.width / originalImage.size.width; CGFloat heightFactor = self.frame.size.height / originalImage.size.height; if (widthFactor < heightFactor) { scaleFactor = widthFactor; } else { scaleFactor = heightFactor; } scaledWidth = originalImage.size.width * scaleFactor; scaledHeight = originalImage.size.height * scaleFactor; if (widthFactor < heightFactor) { thumbPoint.y = (self.frame.size.height - scaledHeight) * 0.5; } else if (widthFactor > heightFactor) { thumbPoint.x = (self.frame.size.width - scaledWidth) * 0.5; } UIGraphicsBeginImageContext(self.frame.size); CGRect thumbRect = CGRectZero; thumbRect.origin = thumbPoint; thumbRect.size.width = scaledWidth; thumbRect.size.height = scaledHeight; [originalImage drawInRect:thumbRect]; self.scaledImage = UIGraphicsGetImageFromCurrentImageContext(); UIGraphicsEndImageContext(); } else { self.scaledImage = originalImage; } } My understanding (after studying this a bit) is that the UIGraphicsBeginImageContext function creates an offscreen for me to draw into, so now how do I render that context on top of the original one?

  • Replicate UISegmentedControl with UIButtons - iPhone

    - by Sam
Hi guys, I didnt like the style of UISegmentedControl, hence i tried to change the way it looked, but I couldnt attach images to its buttons. I just didnt change at all. Now i'm looking at how to replicate that function with 4 UIButtons. I've setup 4 UIButtons in interface builder, added different tag numbers to them. What i cannot accomplish is when a button is tapped, it should be "selected" and the other buttons should be Unselected. How can i connect all of them? And if there was a way to change the UISegmented control looks, i would need all this effort. thanks for the help guys this is for iPhone OS

  • To store images from UIGetScreenImage() in NSMutable Array

    - by sujyanarayan
Hi, I'm getting images from UIGetScreenImage() and storing directly in mutable array like:- image = [UIImage imageWithScreenContents]; [array addObject:image]; [image release]; I've set this code in timer so I cant use UIImagePNGRepresentation() to store as NSData as it reduces the performance. I want to use this array directly after sometime i.e after capturing 1000 images in 100 seconds. When I use the code below:- UIImage *im = [[UIImage alloc] init]; im = [array objectAtIndex:i]; UIImageWriteToSavedPhotosAlbum(im, nil, nil, nil); the application crashes. And I dont want to use UIImagePNG or JPGRepresentation() in timer as it reduces performance. My problem is how to use this array so that it is converted into image. If anybody has idea related to it please share with me. Thanks in Advance.

  • Sort NSArray of custom objects based on sorting of another NSArray of strings

    - by Nic Hubbard
I have two NSArray objects that I would like to be sorted the same. One contains NSString objects, the other custom Attribute objects. Here is what my "key" NSArray looks like: // The master order NSArray *stringOrder = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:@"12", @"10", @"2", nil]; The NSArray with custom objects: // The array of custom Attribute objects that I want sorted by the stringOrder array NSMutableArray *items = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; Attribute *attribute = nil; attribute = [[Attribute alloc] init]; attribute.assetID = @"10"; [items addObject:attribute]; attribute = [[Attribute alloc] init]; attribute.assetID = @"12"; [items addObject:attribute]; attribute = [[Attribute alloc] init]; attribute.assetID = @"2"; [items addObject:attribute]; So, what I would like to do is use the stringOrder array to determine the sorting of the items array of custom objects. How can I do this?

  • Analyzing bitmaps produced by NSAffineTransform and CILineOverlay filters

    - by Adam
I am trying to manipulate an image using a chain of CIFilters, and then examine each byte of the resulting image (bitmap). Long term, I do not need to display the resulting image (bitmap) -- I just need to "analyze" it in memory. But near-term I am displaying it on screen, to help with debugging. I have some "bitmap examination" code that works as expected when examining the NSImage (bitmap representation) I use as my input (loaded from a JPG file into an NSImage). And it SOMETIMES works as expected when I use it on the outputBitmap produced by the code below. More specifically, when I use an NSAffineTransform filter to create outputBitmap, then outputBitmap contains the data I would expect. But if I use a CILineOverlay filter to create the outputBitmap, none of the bytes in the bitmap have any data in them. I believe both of these filters are working as expected, because when I display their results on screen (via outputImageView), they look "correct." Yet when I examine the outputBitmaps, the one created from the CILineOverlay filter is "empty" while the one created from NSAffineTransfer contains data. Furthermore, if I chain the two filters together, the final resulting bitmap only seems to contain data if I run the AffineTransform last. Seems very strange, to me??? My understanding (from reading the CI programming guide) is that the CIImage should be considered an "image recipe" rather than an actual image, because the image isn't actually created until the image is "drawn." Given that, it would make sense that the CIimage bitmap doesn't have data -- but I don't understand why it has data after I run the NSAffineTransform but doesn't have data after running the CILineOverlay transform? Basically, I am trying to determine if creating the NSCIImageRep (ir in the code below) from the CIImage (myResult) is equivalent to "drawing" the CIImage -- in other words if that should force the bitmap to be populated? If someone knows the answer to this please let me know -- it will save me a few hours of trial and error experimenting! Finally, if the answer is "you must draw to a graphics context" ... then I have another question: would I need to do something along the lines of what is described in the Quartz 2D Programming Guide: Graphics Contexts, listing 2-7 and 2-8: drawing to a bitmap graphics context? That is the path down which I am about to head ... but it seems like a lot of code just to force the bitmap data to be dumped into an array where I can get at it. So if there is an easier or better way please let me know. I just want to take the data (that should be) in myResult and put it into a bitmap array where I can access it at the byte level. And since I already have code that works with an NSBitmapImageRep, unless doing it that way is a bad idea for some reason that is not readily apparent to me, then I would prefer to "convert" myResult into an NSBitmapImageRep. CIImage * myResult = [transform valueForKey:@"outputImage"]; NSImage *outputImage; NSCIImageRep *ir = [NSCIImageRep alloc]; ir = [NSCIImageRep imageRepWithCIImage:myResult]; outputImage = [[[NSImage alloc] initWithSize: NSMakeSize(inputImage.size.width, inputImage.size.height)] autorelease]; [outputImage addRepresentation:ir]; [outputImageView setImage: outputImage]; NSBitmapImageRep *outputBitmap = [[NSBitmapImageRep alloc] initWithCIImage: myResult]; Thanks, Adam

  • Faking a dynamic schema in Core Data?

    - by Gouldsc
From reading the Apple Docs on Core Data, I've learned that you should not use Core Data when you need a dynamic schema. If I wanted to provide the user the ability to create their own properties, in a core data model would it work if I created some "dummy" attributes like "custom decimal 1", "custom decimal 2", "custom text 1", "custom text 2" etc that the user could name and use for their own purposes? Obviously this won't work for relationships, but for simple properties it seems like a reasonable workaround. Will creating a bunch of dummy attributes on my entities that go unused by most users noticeably decrease performance for them? Have any of you tried something like this? Thanks!

  • [three20] dynamically add Items to TTLauncher

    - by choise
Hi guys, in my app i got a TTLauncher Object with some TTLauncherItems in it. Now i want to add some Items dynamically inside my App by pressing a button. Is there a simple way to do that or do i have to create my own methods? In the original facebook application there is already something like that implemented. (You can add your Friends to the Launcher) If not, what would be the best thing to do something like that? Store all "extra items" in a plist oder even in a database and query them, each time TTLauncher object is initialized? Thanks for help :)

  • get current selected button cell placed inside tableview using cocoa

    - by Swati
hi i have a NSTableView i have two columns A and B B contains some data A contains custom button the button is added to column A using this: Below code is placed inside awakeFromNib method NSButtonCell *buttonCell = [[[NSButtonCell alloc] init] autorelease]; [buttonCell setBordered:NO]; [buttonCell setImagePosition:NSImageOnly]; [buttonCell setButtonType:NSMomentaryChangeButton]; [buttonCell setImage:[NSImage imageNamed:@"uncheck.png"]]; [buttonCell setSelectable:TRUE]; [buttonCell setTag:100]; [buttonCell setTarget:self]; [buttonCell setAction:@selector(selectButtonsForDeletion:)]; [[myTable tableColumnWithIdentifier:@"EditIdentifier"] setDataCell:buttonCell]; Some code in display cell of nstableview: -(void)tableView:(NSTableView *)tableView willDisplayCell:(id)cell forTableColumn:(NSTableColumn *)tableColumn row:(NSInteger)rowIndex { if(tableView == myTable) { if([[tableColumn identifier] isEqualToString:@"DataIdentifier"]) { } else if([[tableColumn identifier] isEqualToString:@"EditIdentifier"]) { NSButtonCell *zCell = (NSButtonCell *)cell; [zCell setTag:rowIndex]; [zCell setTitle:@"abc"]; [zCell setTarget:self]; [zCell setAction:@selector(selectButtonsForDeletion:)]; } } } now i want that when i click on the button the image of button cell gets changed as well as i want to do some coding. When button gets clicked then by default the tableView's reference gets passed. How can i get the button cell reference i looked here for similar problem: Cocoa: how to nest a button inside a Table View cell? but i am unable to add button inside column of NSTableView. How i change the image: - (void)tableView:(NSTableView *)tableView setObjectValue:(id)object forTableColumn:(NSTableColumn *)tableColumn row:(NSInteger)row; { if(tableView == myTable) { if([[tableColumn identifier] isEqualToString:@"EditIdentifier"]) { NSButtonCell *aCell = (NSButtonCell *)[[tableView tableColumnWithIdentifier:@"EditIdentifier"] dataCellForRow:row]; NSInteger index = [[aCell title]intValue]; if([self.selectedIndexesArray count]>0) { if(![self.selectedIndexesArray containsObject:[NSNumber numberWithInt:index]]) { [aCell setImage:[NSImage imageNamed:@"check.png"]]; [self.selectedIndexesArray addObject:[NSNumber numberWithInt:index]]; } else { [aCell setImage:[NSImage imageNamed:@"uncheck.png"]]; [self.selectedIndexesArray removeObjectAtIndex:[selectedIndexesArray indexOfObject:[NSNumber numberWithInt:index]]]; } } else { [aCell setImage:[NSImage imageNamed:@"check.png"]]; [self.selectedIndexesArray addObject:[NSNumber numberWithInt:index]]; } } } } I have debugged the code and found that proper tag and titles are passed but image applies on more than one button cell, this is too very irregular. cant understand how its working!!! Any suggestions what am i doing wrong??

  • Is is possible to derive currency symbol from currency code?

    - by Dave Hunt
    My iPhone app formats an NSDecimalNumber as a currency using setCurrencyCode, however another screen displays just the currency symbol. Rather than storing both the currency code and symbol, is it possible to derive the symbol from the code? I thought the following might work, but it just returns the symbol as $: currencyCode = [dictPrices valueForKey:@"currencyCode"]; NSNumberFormatter *numberFormatter = [[[NSNumberFormatter alloc] init] autorelease]; [numberFormatter setFormatterBehavior:NSNumberFormatterBehavior10_4]; [numberFormatter setCurrencyCode:currencyCode]; [numberFormatter setNumberStyle:NSNumberFormatterCurrencyStyle]; NSString *currencySymbol = [numberFormatter currencySymbol];

  • How to limit NSTextField text length and keep it always upper case?

    - by carlosb
Need to have an NSTextField with a text limit of 4 characters maximum and show always in upper case but can't figure out a good way of achieving that. I've tried to do it through a binding with a validation method but the validation only gets called when the control loses first responder and that's no good. Temporarly I made it work by observing the notification NSControlTextDidChangeNotification on the text field and having it call the method: - (void)textDidChange:(NSNotification*)notification { NSTextField* textField = [notification object]; NSString* value = [textField stringValue]; if ([value length] > 4) { [textField setStringValue:[[value uppercaseString] substringWithRange:NSMakeRange(0, 4)]]; } else { [textField setStringValue:[value uppercaseString]]; } } But this surely isn't the best way of doing it. Any better suggestion?
