  • spring jboss ehcache

    - by boyd4715
    I am trying to configure my application to make use of ehCache. I am using Spring 2.5.6, Jboss 5.1.0 GA and its embedded version of Hibernate along with ehCache-core V2.3.1. I have done the following configuration: <property name="hibernateProperties"> <props> <prop key="hibernate.dialect">org.hibernate.dialect.MySQLDialect</prop> <prop key="hibernate.hbm2ddl.auto">update</prop> <prop key="hibernate.show_sql">true</prop> <prop key="hibernate.jdbc.batch_size">20</prop> <prop key="hibernate.cache.provider_class">net.sf.ehcache.hibernate.SingletonEhCacheProvider</prop> <prop key="net.sf.ehcache.configurationResourceName">ehcache.xml</prop> <prop key="hibernate.cache.use_second_level_cache">true</prop> <prop key="hibernate.cache.use_structured_entries">true</prop> <prop key="hibernate.cache.use_query_cache">true</prop> <prop key="hibernate.generate_statistics">true</prop> <!-- prop key="hibernate.cache.use_second_level_cache">true</prop> <prop key="hibernate.cache.region.factory_class">net.sf.ehcache.hibernate.EhCacheRegionFactory</prop> <prop key="hibernate.cache.provider_class">net.sf.ehcache.hibernate.SingletonEhCacheProvider</prop> <prop key="hibernate.cache.use_second_level_cache">true</prop> <prop key="hibernate.cache.use_query_cache">true</prop--> </props> </property> This is my ehcache.xml <defaultCache eternal="false" overflowToDisk="false" maxElementsInMemory="50000" timeToIdleSeconds="30" timeToLiveSeconds="6000" memoryStoreEvictionPolicy="LRU" /> <cache name="com.model.SystemProperty" maxElementsInMemory="5000" eternal="true" overflowToDisk="false" memoryStoreEvictionPolicy="LFU" /> This file is located in my class path. I have added the following to my domain object: @Cache(usage = CacheConcurrencyStrategy.READ_WRITE, region="vsg.ecotrak.admin.store.domain.Store", include="non-lazy") When I start up the server, it gets stuck. Here is the output: 13:17:09,000 INFO [SettingsFactory] Second-level cache: enabled 13:17:09,000 INFO [SettingsFactory] Query cache: enabled 13:17:09,016 INFO [SettingsFactory] Cache region factory : org.hibernate.cache.impl.bridge.RegionFactoryCacheProviderBridge 13:17:09,017 INFO [RegionFactoryCacheProviderBridge] Cache provider: net.sf.ehcache.hibernate.SingletonEhCacheProvider Any Ideal as to why this is happening? I am running on a Windows 7 64 bit if that matters. I downgraded the ehcache jar to V 1.2.3 and the server now starts.

  • Atomikos with Hibernate will exhaust db connections

    - by peter
    I am testing an application (Spring 2.5, Hibernate 3.5.0 Beta, Atomikos 3.6.2, and Postgreql 8.4.2) with the configuration for the DAO listed below. The problem that I see is that the pool of 10 connections with the dataSource gets exhausted after the 10's transaction. I know 'hibernate.connection.release_mode' has no effect unless the session is obtained with openSession rather then using a contextual session. I am wandering if anyone has found a way to instruct atomikos code to release connections after any transaction. • Collections not read from hibernate/ehcache second-level-cache

    - by Mark van Venrooij
    I'm trying to cache lazy loaded collections with ehcache/hibernate in a Spring project. When I execute a session.get(Parent.class, 123) and browse through the children multiple times a query is executed every time to fetch the children. The parent is only queried the first time and then resolved from the cache. Probably I'm missing something, but I can't find the solution. Please see the relevant code below. I'm using Spring (3.2.4.RELEASE) Hibernate(4.2.1.Final) and ehcache(2.6.6) The parent class: @Entity @Table(name = "PARENT") @Cacheable @Cache(usage = CacheConcurrencyStrategy.READ_WRITE, include = "all") public class ServiceSubscriptionGroup implements Serializable { /** The Id. */ @Id @Column(name = "ID") private int id; @OneToMany(fetch = FetchType.LAZY, mappedBy = "parent") @Cache(usage = CacheConcurrencyStrategy.READ_WRITE) private List<Child> children; public List<Child> getChildren() { return children; } public void setChildren(List<Child> children) { this.children = children; } @Override public boolean equals(Object o) { if (this == o) return true; if (o == null || getClass() != o.getClass()) return false; Parent that = (Parent) o; if (id != that.id) return false; return true; } @Override public int hashCode() { return id; } } The child class: @Entity @Table(name = "CHILD") @Cacheable @Cache(usage = CacheConcurrencyStrategy.READ_WRITE, include = "all") public class Child { @Id @Column(name = "ID") private int id; @ManyToOne(fetch = FetchType.LAZY, cascade = CascadeType.ALL) @JoinColumn(name = "PARENT_ID") @Cache(usage = CacheConcurrencyStrategy.READ_WRITE) private Parent parent; public int getId() { return id; } public void setId(final int id) { this.id = id; } private Parent getParent(){ return parent; } private void setParent(Parent parent) { this.parent = parent; } @Override public boolean equals(final Object o) { if (this == o) { return true; } if (o == null || getClass() != o.getClass()) { return false; } final Child that = (Child) o; return id == that.id; } @Override public int hashCode() { return id; } } The application context: <bean id="sessionFactory" class="org.springframework.orm.hibernate4.LocalSessionFactoryBean"> <property name="dataSource" ref="dataSource" /> <property name="annotatedClasses"> <list> <value>Parent</value> <value>Child</value> </list> </property> <property name="hibernateProperties"> <props> <prop key="hibernate.dialect">org.hibernate.dialect.SQLServer2008Dialect</prop> <prop key="hibernate.hbm2ddl.auto">validate</prop> <prop key="hibernate.ejb.naming_strategy">org.hibernate.cfg.ImprovedNamingStrategy</prop> <prop key="hibernate.connection.charSet">UTF-8</prop> <prop key="hibernate.show_sql">true</prop> <prop key="hibernate.format_sql">true</prop> <prop key="hibernate.use_sql_comments">true</prop> <!-- cache settings ehcache--> <prop key="hibernate.cache.use_second_level_cache">true</prop> <prop key="hibernate.cache.use_query_cache">true</prop> <prop key="hibernate.cache.region.factory_class"> org.hibernate.cache.ehcache.SingletonEhCacheRegionFactory</prop> <prop key="hibernate.generate_statistics">true</prop> <prop key="hibernate.cache.use_structured_entries">true</prop> <prop key="hibernate.cache.use_query_cache">true</prop> <prop key="hibernate.transaction.factory_class"> org.hibernate.engine.transaction.internal.jta.JtaTransactionFactory</prop> <prop key="hibernate.transaction.jta.platform"> org.hibernate.service.jta.platform.internal.JBossStandAloneJtaPlatform</prop> </props> </property> </bean> The testcase I'm running: @Test public void testGetParentFromCache() { for (int i = 0; i <3 ; i++ ) { getEntity(); } } private void getEntity() { Session sess = sessionFactory.openSession() sess.setCacheMode(CacheMode.NORMAL); Transaction t = sess.beginTransaction(); Parent p = (Parent) s.get(Parent.class, 123); Assert.assertNotNull(p); Assert.assertNotNull(p.getChildren().size()); t.commit(); sess.flush(); sess.clear(); sess.close(); } In the logging I can see that the first time 2 queries are executed getting the parent and getting the children. Furthermore the logging shows that the child entities as well as the collection are stored in the 2nd level cache. However when reading the collection a query is executed to fetch the children on second and third attempt.

  • How to configure Spring JavaMailSenderImpl for Gmail

    - by Andrew Carlson
    I am trying to find the correct properties to use to connect to the Gmail SMTP sever using the JavaMailSenderImpl class. Let me first say that I have tried the approach found here. This worked fine. But when I tried the configuration below that post with the exact same authentication information I received a javax.mail.AuthenticationFailedException. My currently configuration looks like this. <bean id="mailSender" class ="org.springframework.mail.javamail.JavaMailSenderImpl" > <property name="username" value="[email protected]" /> <property name="password" value="XXX" /> <property name="javaMailProperties"> <props> <prop key="mail.smtp.host">smtp.gmail.com</prop> <prop key="mail.smtp.port">587</prop> <prop key="mail.smtp.auth">true</prop> <prop key="mail.smtp.starttls.enable">true</prop> </props> </property> </bean> Why am I still getting this javax.mail.AuthenticationFailedException if I know that my credentials are correct. Update Here is my updated code based on the answers below. I am still receiving the same exception. <bean id="mailSender" class ="org.springframework.mail.javamail.JavaMailSenderImpl" > <property name="username" value="[email protected]" /> <property name="password" value="XXX" /> <property name="javaMailProperties"> <props> <prop key="mail.smtp.from">[email protected]</prop> <prop key="mail.smtp.user">[email protected]</prop> <prop key="mail.smtp.password">XXX</prop> <prop key="mail.smtp.host">smtp.gmail.com</prop> <prop key="mail.smtp.port">587</prop> <prop key="mail.smtp.auth">true</prop> <prop key="mail.smtp.starttls.enable">true</prop> </props> </property> </bean>

  • Missing prop-base file problem

    - by Tony
    I am using Eclipse and SVNSubversion as a repository for a Java project. After updating the local repository and starting Eclipse, an error (in the Problems tab) appeared stating that a specific prop-base file was missing from the build path. Being inexperienced, I have accidentally deleted the prop-base file icon from the project build-path library section. Since then the numbers of errors have grown exponentially... What should I do? Updating the local repository and/or starting a new Eclipse project from the same source did not solve the problem, does anyone have an idea?

    Can someone explain why this is occurring? The code below was executed in the immediate window in vs2008. The prop is an Int32 property (id column) on an object created by the entity framework. The objects entity and defaultEntity were created using Activator.CreateInstance(); Convert.ChangeType(prop.GetValue(entity, null), prop.PropertyType) 0 Convert.ChangeType(prop.GetValue(defaultEntity, null), prop.PropertyType) 0 Convert.ChangeType(prop.GetValue(entity, null), prop.PropertyType) == Convert.ChangeType(prop.GetValue(defaultEntity, null), prop.PropertyType) false

  • Query for props list with or without values

    - by vitto
    Hi, I'm trying to make a SELECT on three relational tables like these ones: table_materials -> material_id - material_name table_props -> prop_id - prop_name table_materials_props - row_id -> material_id -> prop_id - prop_value On my page, I'd like to get a result like this one but i have some problem with the query: material prop A prop B prop C prop D prop E wood 350 NULL NULL 84 16 iron NULL 17 NULL NULL 201 copper 548 285 99 NULL NULL so the query should return something like: material prop_name prop_value wood prop A 350 wood prop B NULL wood prop C NULL wood prop D 84 wood prop E 16 // and go on with others rows i thought to use something like: SELECT * FROM table_materials AS m INNER JOIN table_materials_props AS mp ON m.material_id = mp.material_id INNER JOIN table_materials_props AS p ON mp.prop_id = p.prop_id ORDER BY p.prop_name the problem is the query doesn't return the NULL values, and I need the same prop order for all the materials regardless of prop values are NULL or not I hope this example is clear!

  • Is there some performance issue between leaving empty ListProperties or using dynamic (expando) prop

    - by indiehacker
    Is there a datastore performance difference between adding dynamic properties of the expando class when they are needed for an entity or the simpler (for me) framework of just setting up all possible properties I might need from the start even though most instances will just be left empty. In my specific case I would be having 5-8 empty ReferenceList properties as 'overhead' that will be empty when I skip using expando class.

My RemoteServiceServlet (GWT) is as follows: public class TrainTrackServiceImpl extends RemoteServiceServlet implements TrainTrackService { @Autowired private DAO dao; @Override public void init(ServletConfig config) throws ServletException { super.init(config); WebApplicationContext ctx = WebApplicationContextUtils.getRequiredWebApplicationContext(config.getServletContext()); AutowireCapableBeanFactory beanFactory = ctx.getAutowireCapableBeanFactory(); beanFactory.autowireBean(this); } @Transactional(propagation= Propagation.REQUIRED, rollbackFor=Exception.class) public UserDTO createUser(String firstName, String lastName, String idNumber, String cellPhone, String email, int merchantId) { User user = new User(); user.setFirstName(firstName); user.setLastName(lastName); user.setIdNumber(idNumber); user.setCellphone(cellPhone); user.setEmail(email); user.setDateCreated(new Date()); Merchant merchant = (Merchant) dao.find(Merchant.class, merchantId); if (merchant != null) { user.setMerchant(merchant); } // Save the user. dao.saveOrUpdate(user); UserDTO dto = new UserDTO(); dto.id = user.getId(); dto.firstName = user.getFirstName(); dto.lastName = user.getLastName(); return dto; } The DAO is as follows: public class DAO extends HibernateDaoSupport { private String adminUsername; private String adminPassword; private String godUsername; private String godPassword; public String getAdminUsername() { return adminUsername; } public void setAdminUsername(String adminUsername) { this.adminUsername = adminUsername; } public String getAdminPassword() { return adminPassword; } public void setAdminPassword(String adminPassword) { this.adminPassword = adminPassword; } public String getGodUsername() { return godUsername; } public void setGodUsername(String godUsername) { this.godUsername = godUsername; } public String getGodPassword() { return godPassword; } public void setGodPassword(String godPassword) { this.godPassword = godPassword; } public void saveOrUpdate(ModelObject obj) { getHibernateTemplate().saveOrUpdate(obj); } And my applicationContext.xml is as follows: <context:annotation-config/> <context:component-scan base-package="za.co.xxx.traintrack.server"/> <!-- Application properties --> <bean id="propertyConfigurer" class="org.springframework.beans.factory.config.PropertyPlaceholderConfigurer"> <property name="locations"> <list> <value>file:${user.dir}/@propertiesFile@</value> </list> </property> </bean> <bean id="sessionFactory" class="org.springframework.orm.hibernate3.annotation.AnnotationSessionFactoryBean"> <property name="hibernateProperties"> <props> <prop key="hibernate.dialect">${connection.dialect}</prop> <prop key="hibernate.connection.username">${connection.username}</prop> <prop key="hibernate.connection.password">${connection.password}</prop> <prop key="hibernate.connection.url">${connection.url}</prop> <prop key="hibernate.connection.driver_class">${connection.driver.class}</prop> <prop key="hibernate.show_sql">${show.sql}</prop> <prop key="hibernate.hbm2ddl.auto">update</prop> <prop key="hibernate.c3p0.min_size">5</prop> <prop key="hibernate.c3p0.max_size">20</prop> <prop key="hibernate.c3p0.timeout">300</prop> <prop key="hibernate.c3p0.max_statements">50</prop> <prop key="hibernate.c3p0.idle_test_period">60</prop> </props> </property> <property name="annotatedClasses"> <list> <value>za.co.xxx.traintrack.server.model.Answer</value> <value>za.co.xxx.traintrack.server.model.Company</value> <value>za.co.xxx.traintrack.server.model.CompanyRegion</value> <value>za.co.xxx.traintrack.server.model.Merchant</value> <value>za.co.xxx.traintrack.server.model.Module</value> <value>za.co.xxx.traintrack.server.model.Question</value> <value>za.co.xxx.traintrack.server.model.User</value> <value>za.co.xxx.traintrack.server.model.CompletedModule</value> </list> </property> </bean> <bean id="dao" class="za.co.xxx.traintrack.server.DAO"> <property name="sessionFactory" ref="sessionFactory"/> <property name="adminUsername" value="${admin.user.name}"/> <property name="adminPassword" value="${admin.user.password}"/> <property name="godUsername" value="${god.user.name}"/> <property name="godPassword" value="${god.user.password}"/> </bean> <bean id="transactionManager" class="org.springframework.orm.hibernate3.HibernateTransactionManager"> <property name="sessionFactory"> <ref local="sessionFactory"/> </property> </bean> <!-- enable the configuration of transactional behavior based on annotations --> <tx:annotation-driven transaction-manager="transactionManager"/> If I change the sessionFactory property to be autoCommit=true then my object does get persisited. <prop key="hibernate.connection.autocommit">true</prop>

  • During Spring unit test, data written to db but test not seeing the data

    - by richever
    I wrote a test case that extends AbstractTransactionalJUnit4SpringContextTests. The single test case I've written creates an instance of class User and attempts to write it to the database using Hibernate. The test code then uses SimpleJdbcTemplate to execute a simple select count(*) from the user table to determine if the user was persisted to the database or not. The test always fails though. I was suspect because in the Spring controller I wrote, the ability to save an instance of User to the db is successful. So I added the Rollback annotation to the unit test and sure enough, the data is written to the database since I can even see it in the appropriate table -- the transaction isn't rolled back when the test case is finished. Here's my test case: @ContextConfiguration(locations = { "classpath:context-daos.xml", "classpath:context-dataSource.xml", "classpath:context-hibernate.xml"}) public class UserDaoTest extends AbstractTransactionalJUnit4SpringContextTests { @Autowired private UserDao userDao; @Test @Rollback(false) public void teseCreateUser() { try { UserModel user = randomUser(); String username = user.getUserName(); long id = userDao.create(user); String query = "select count(*) from public.usr where usr_name = '%s'"; long count = simpleJdbcTemplate.queryForLong(String.format(query, username)); Assert.assertEquals("User with username should be in the db", 1, count); } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); Assert.assertNull("testCreateUser: " + e.getMessage()); } } } I think I was remiss by not adding the configuration files. context-hibernate.xml <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <beans xmlns="http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation=" http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans/spring-beans-3.0.xsd> <bean id="namingStrategy" class="org.springframework.beans.factory.config.FieldRetrievingFactoryBean"> <property name="staticField"> <value>org.hibernate.cfg.ImprovedNamingStrategy.INSTANCE</value> </property> </bean> <bean id="sessionFactory" class="org.springframework.orm.hibernate3.LocalSessionFactoryBean" destroy-method="destroy" scope="singleton"> <property name="namingStrategy"> <ref bean="namingStrategy"/> </property> <property name="dataSource" ref="dataSource"/> <property name="mappingResources"> <list> <value>com/company/model/usr.hbm.xml</value> </list> </property> <property name="hibernateProperties"> <props> <prop key="hibernate.dialect">org.hibernate.dialect.PostgreSQLDialect</prop> <prop key="hibernate.show_sql">true</prop> <prop key="hibernate.use_sql_comments">true</prop> <prop key="hibernate.query.substitutions">yes 'Y', no 'N'</prop> <prop key="hibernate.cache.provider_class">org.hibernate.cache.EhCacheProvider</prop> <prop key="hibernate.cache.use_query_cache">true</prop> <prop key="hibernate.cache.use_minimal_puts">false</prop> <prop key="hibernate.cache.use_second_level_cache">true</prop> <prop key="hibernate.current_session_context_class">thread</prop> </props> </property> </bean> <bean id="transactionManager" class="org.springframework.orm.hibernate3.HibernateTransactionManager"> <property name="sessionFactory" ref="sessionFactory"/> <property name="nestedTransactionAllowed" value="false" /> </bean> <bean id="transactionInterceptor" class="org.springframework.transaction.interceptor.TransactionInterceptor"> <property name="transactionManager"> <ref local="transactionManager"/> </property> <property name="transactionAttributes"> <props> <prop key="create">PROPAGATION_REQUIRED</prop> <prop key="delete">PROPAGATION_REQUIRED</prop> <prop key="update">PROPAGATION_REQUIRED</prop> <prop key="*">PROPAGATION_SUPPORTS,readOnly</prop> </props> </property> </bean> </beans> context-dataSource.xml <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <beans xmlns="http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation=" http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans/spring-beans-3.0.xsd"> <bean id="dataSource" class="com.mchange.v2.c3p0.ComboPooledDataSource" destroy-method="close"> <property name="driverClass" value="org.postgresql.Driver" /> <property name="jdbcUrl" value="jdbc\:postgresql\://localhost:5432/company_dev" /> <property name="user" value="postgres" /> <property name="password" value="postgres" /> </bean> </beans> context-daos.xml <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <beans xmlns="http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation=" http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans/spring-beans-3.0.xsd"> <bean id="extendedFinderNamingStrategy" class="com.company.dao.finder.impl.ExtendedFinderNamingStrategy"/> <bean id="finderIntroductionAdvisor" class="com.company.dao.finder.impl.FinderIntroductionAdvisor"/> <bean id="abstractDaoTarget" class="com.company.dao.impl.GenericDaoHibernateImpl" abstract="true" depends-on="sessionFactory"> <property name="sessionFactory"> <ref bean="sessionFactory"/> </property> <property name="namingStrategy"> <ref bean="extendedFinderNamingStrategy"/> </property> </bean> <bean id="abstractDao" class="org.springframework.aop.framework.ProxyFactoryBean" abstract="true"> <property name="interceptorNames"> <list> <value>transactionInterceptor</value> <value>finderIntroductionAdvisor</value> </list> </property> </bean> <bean id="userDao" parent="abstractDao"> <property name="proxyInterfaces"> <value>com.company.dao.UserDao</value> </property> <property name="target"> <bean parent="abstractDaoTarget"> <constructor-arg> <value>com.company.model.UserModel</value> </constructor-arg> </bean> </property> </bean> </beans> Some of this I've inherited from someone else.   • Sudo and startup script

    - by Pitto
    Hello my friends. I have a new asus 1215n and I need to digit commands to enable multitouch. No problem: I've made a script. Since this netbook also need manual activation of the wifi driver the complete script is: #!/bin/bash # # list of synaptics device properties http://www.x.org/archive/X11R7.5/doc/man/man4/synaptics.4.html#sect4 # list current synaptics device properties: xinput list-props '"SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad"' # sleep 5 #added delay... xinput set-int-prop "SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad" "Device Enabled" 8 1 xinput --set-prop --type=int --format=32 "SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad" "Synaptics Two-Finger Pressure" 4 xinput --set-prop --type=int --format=32 "SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad" "Synaptics Two-Finger Width" 9 # Below width 1 finger touch, above width simulate 2 finger touch. - value=pad-pixels xinput --set-prop --type=int --format=8 "SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad" "Synaptics Edge Scrolling" 1 1 0 # vertical, horizontal, corner - values: 0=disable 1=enable xinput --set-prop --type=int --format=32 "SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad" "Synaptics Jumpy Cursor Threshold" 250 # stabilize 2 finger actions - value=pad-pixels #xinput --set-prop --type=int --format=8 "SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad" "Synaptics Tap Action" 0 0 0 0 1 2 3 # pad corners rt rb lt lb tap fingers 1 2 3 (can't simulate more then 2 tap fingers AFAIK) - values: 0=disable 1=left 2=middle 3=right etc. (in FF 8=back 9=forward) xinput --set-prop --type=int --format=8 "SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad" "Synaptics Two-Finger Scrolling" 1 0 # vertical scrolling, horizontal scrolling - values: 0=disable 1=enable #xinput --set-prop --type=int --format=8 "SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad" "Synaptics Circular Scrolling" 1 #xinput --set-prop --type=int --format=8 "SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad" "Synaptics Circular Scrolling Trigger" 3 sudo modprobe lib80211 sudo insmod /home/pitto/Drivers/broadcom/wl.ko exit I've saved the script, then put it in my home, then chmod +x scriptname and then added it to startup applications. Then I did: sudo visudo and added this row: myusername ALL=(ALL) NOPASSWD: /home/scriptname rebooted and... Multitouch works but wifi not. When I manually launch the script it asks for sudo password so I thought it was because of modprobe and insmod commands and I've added those commands to sudo visudo. Nothing. What am I doing wrong?

  • How do I properly implement a property in F#?

    - by Greg D
    Consider my first attempt, a simple type in F# like the following: type Test() = inherit BaseImplementingNotifyPropertyChangedViaOnPropertyChanged() let mutable prop: string = null member this.Prop with public get() = prop and public set value = match value with | _ when value = prop -> () | _ -> let prop = value this.OnPropertyChanged("Prop") Now I test this via C# (this object is being exposed to a C# project, so apparent C# semantics are desirable): [TestMethod] public void TaskMaster_Test() { var target = new FTest(); string propName = null; target.PropertyChanged += (s, a) => propName = a.PropertyName; target.Prop = "newString"; Assert.AreEqual("Prop", propName); Assert.AreEqual("newString", target.Prop); return; } propName is properly assigned, my F# Setter is running, but the second assert is failing because the underlying value of prop isn't changed. This sort of makes sense to me, because if I remove mutable from the prop field, no error is generated (and one should be because I'm trying to mutate the value). I think I must be missing a fundamental concept. What's the correct way to rebind/mutate prop in the Test class so that I can pass my unit test?

  • How do I stop video tearing? (Nvidia prop driver, non-compositing window manager)

    - by Chan-Ho Suh
    I have that problem which seemingly afflicts many using the proprietary Nvidia driver: Video tearing: fine horizontal lines (usually near the top of my display) when there is a lot of panning or action in the video. (Note: switching back to the default nouveau driver is not an option, as its seemingly nonexistent power-management drains my battery several times faster) I've tried Totem, Parole, and VLC, and tearing occurs with all of them. The best result has been to use X11 output in VLC, but there is still tearing with relatively moderate action. Hardware: MacBook Air 3,2 -- which has an Nvidia GeForce 320M. There are two common fixes for tearing with Nvidia prop drivers: Turn off compositing, since Nvidia proprietary drivers don't usually play nice with compositing window managers on Linux (Compiz is an exception I'm aware of). But I use an extremely lightweight window manager (Awesome window manager) which is not even capable of compositing (or any cool effects). I also have this problem in Xfce, where I have compositing disabled. Enabling sync to VBlank. To enable this, I set the option in nvidia-settings and then autostart it as nvidia-settings -l with my other autostart programs. This seems to work, because when I run glxgears, I get: $ glxgears Running synchronized to the vertical refresh. The framerate should be approximately the same as the monitor refresh rate. 303 frames in 5.0 seconds = 60.500 FPS 300 frames in 5.0 seconds = 59.992 FPS And when I check the refresh rate using nvidia-settings: $ nvidia-settings -q RefreshRate Attribute 'RefreshRate' (wampum:0.0; display device: DFP-2): 60.00 Hz. All this suggests sync to VBlank is enabled. As I understand it, this is precisely designed to stop tearing, and a lot of people's problem is even getting something like glxgears to output the correct info. I don't understand why it's not working for me. xorg.conf: http://paste.ubuntu.com/992056/ Example of observed tearing::

  • Reflecting derived classes in C#

    - by rook
    Let's assume there's a class with a virtual property (let's call it 'P'). It's overridden in a deriving class. Now I want to use something like this: obj.GetType().GetProperty("P") to get info about the overriding property. This search is ambigous, because there are two "P" properties (base and override). So I typed: obj.GetType().GetProperty("P", BindingFlags.DeclaredOnly | BindingFlags.Public | BindingFlags.Instance) It returns the overriding "P" only, but what if I can't guess in compile time if there's an override at all? The latter call would return null. The case is even more complicated, if the hierarchy of inheritance is bigger. In other words, I want to get the 'top-most' override available, otherwise - the base property. What is the cleanest way to achieve the aim? Only one I know at the moment is to go through all properties and check name and declaring type.
