    - by Fabio Beoni
I have a strange problem replacing chars in string... I read a .txt file containing russian text, and starting from a list of letters russian to english (ru=en), I loop the list and I WOULD like to replace russian characters with english characters. The problem is: I can see in the debug the right reading of the russian and the right reading of the english, but using myWord = myWord.Replace(ruChar, enChar), the string is not replaced. My txt file is a UTF-8 encoding.

  • russian characters not accepted in php / phpmyadmin ?

    - by Bob Deckx
I have a website in 3 languages: english, dutch and russian. There's a little CMS where the user can update the text on the website. everything works good, except for the russian text.. If I enter any russian text in the form in the CMS, I get "????" in the phpmyadmin database and on the website. I am completely new to charsets, it's the first time I am building a website in a language that is not supported like in this case.. Could someone please tell me what's the problem here? and what I have to do to make this work in russian language?

  • Writing Russian in XML

    - by zavié
    Hi, I am writing a Xml Tag Renamer class with Java which reads in a XML, renames the tags and write them back into another XML file using DocumentBuilderFactory and TransformerFactory (text nodes are preserved). It worked fine before with German and English texts, until today, when I tried to rename a XML file with russian text. Instead of the source texts I got ????? in the newly created XML file. I've tried setting Encoding Any idea how to correct this? Thanks! PS. Strings were correct before entering TransformerFactory, as I checked in the debugger. I've tried setting OutputKeys.ENCODING to UTF-8 and ISO-8859-5. None of them helped. The Transformer part: // Output the XML // Set up a transformer TransformerFactory transFactory = TransformerFactory.newInstance(); Transformer transformer = transFactory.newTransformer(); transformer.setOutputProperty(OutputKeys.OMIT_XML_DECLARATION, "no"); // Fix to a bug about indent in transformer transformer.setOutputProperty ("{http://xml.apache.org/xslt}indent-amount", "4"); transformer.setOutputProperty(OutputKeys.INDENT, "yes"); // TODO encoding parameter transformer.setOutputProperty(OutputKeys.ENCODING, "UTF-8"); // Create string from xml tree StringWriter sw = new StringWriter(); StreamResult result = new StreamResult(sw); DOMSource source = new DOMSource(doc); transformer.transform(source, result); String xmlString = sw.toString(); xmlString.replaceAll("\n", System.getProperty("line.separator")); // Write to file BufferedWriter output = new BufferedWriter(new FileWriter(outputPath)); output.write(xmlString); output.close();

  • Cannot save properly the source of .html file containing Russian letters as .txt

    - by brilliant
When I save the source of this page of a Russian website: http://www.mail.ru/ as a .txt file, all Russian letters turn into Chinese characters (I am working on a Chinese computer at the moment), but when I save another page of another Russian website: http://starling.rinet.ru/cgi-bin/response.cgi?root=/usr/local/share/starling/morpho&morpho=0&basename=\usr\local\share\starling\morpho\ozhegov\ozhegov&first=4001 also as a .txt file, all Russian letters are saved in it as the are. Why is it so?

  • English as a system language but Russian regional settings

    - by mbaitoff
I usually choose English as an installation language since I believe that the original is better than the translation. However, the environment I'm working in is mostly Russian, so I have to deal with locale specificity. Even worse is the fact that selecting English yields to royal measurement system, that is, feet, inches, and damned letter paper size. Whatever I do, I didn't manage to get rid of letter paper size - eventually here and there I stumble upon letter as a hidden default, and that spoils my prints. How can I select and use English as my language, but use metric system everywhere and a4 paper size everywhere, and Russian regional settings (date, time, decimal etc).

  • Custom Russian Phonetic Keyboard

    - by roman
I tried to custom Russian phonetic keyboard through Terminal. To do this I wrote: cd /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/ then: sudo gedit ru The document " ru (/usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols) - gedit " appeared on the desktop. I changed all the keys that suited me, saved the file and restarted the computer. However, the changes didn't work out. I checked the document again. The changes are there, but the keys still code for the old layout. I think I am missing some important point. Please help. By the way I get in Terminal this message: ** (gedit:14887): WARNING **: Could not load Gedit repository: Typelib file for namespace 'GtkSource', version '3.0' not found (gedit:14887): IBUS-WARNING **: The owner of /home/roma/.config/ibus/bus is not root! • Trouble with Russian pc's on my wifi

    - by hogni89
I have created a WiFi hotspot for the local community. The problem is, some Russian PC's (Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7) can't get internet connection (We have a lot of bypassing russian fishing vessels / cargo ships). The pc's obtain a valid IP address, and some of them can even manage to send some few packages - But none of them are usable on the network. They all say "Limited internet access" or "???????????? ?????? ? ????????". The thing these PC's have in common is, that they all run a Russian installation of Windows. No one else has problems with the WiFi hotspot - Danish and English Windows, Linux and OS X all work like a charm. Can it be, that there is a difference between the danish / english windows installation, compared to the Russian installation? EDIT START They can't ping the router (One PC got one response - ONCE), they can't access any sites and Windows newer asks "Is this network public, home or work?". EDIT END PS: The hotspot is a airMAX rocket M from Ubiquiti Networks, Inc (www.ubnt.com)

  • Looking for a good semantic parser for the Russian language.

    - by Gregory Gelfond
Does anyone known of a semantic parser for the Russian language? I've attempted to configure the link-parser available from link-grammar site but to no avail. I'm hoping for a system that can run on the Mac and generate either a prolog or lisp-like representation of the parse tree (but XML output is fine as well). Thank you kindly in advance, Gregory Gelfond

  • "From Russia with Love" - My Oracle Russian Experience

    - by cwarticki
Two weeks ago, I traveled to Moscow, Russia. I had the pleasure of meeting with many of our Oracle Partners and Customers in the region.  I also worked with our Oracle Russia team throughout the week building many new friendships. The showcase for the week was an Oracle Support Strategy event for our Oracle Partners and Customers.  It was held at the Kateria-City Hotel, Moscow.  The Oracle Marketing team did an amazing job registering 100+ for the event, and nearly 100 were in attendance.           During the event, I spoke about many different topics. Part was a hands-on workshop to personalize your MOS Dashboard and configure Hot-Topics Email alerts.  Customers learned how to subscribe to newsletters and other Oracle information.  It covered a mulitude of Support Best Practices.  Additionally, I presented Platinum Services to the audience and my colleague Kristophe Hermans, from Oracle Belgium spoke on Proactive Support. In addition, I had the distinct privilege to meet one-on-one with our customers representing OJSC VimpelCom, MTC-Rus and Sberbank.  Pictured with me is Valery Yourinsky, Director of Technology Consulting Dept, FORS Distribution (Oracle Platinum Partner) Finally, I spent 2.5 days with my Oracle colleagues from Oracle Russia. They are super, hard-working, dedicated, customer-service professionals. All of them! I owe them all a debt of gratitude. Next time, we meet in Florida - ok? I am very appreciative to all our Oracle partners, customers and colleagues.  Thanks for hosting me and showing me a wonderful time in your country.  I look forward to my return. • Russian Hydrodynamic Modeling, Prediction, and Visualization in Java

    - by Geertjan
JSC "SamaraNIPIoil", located in Samara, Russia, provides the following applications for internal use. SimTools. Used to create & manage reservoir history schedule files for hydrodynamic models. The main features are that it lets you create/manage schedule files for models and create/manage well trajectory files to use with schedule files. DpSolver. Used to estimate permeability cubes using pore cube and results of well testing. Additionally, the user visualizes maps of vapor deposition polymerization or permeability, which can be visualized layer by layer. The base opportunities of the application are that it enables calculation of reservoir vertical heterogeneity and vertical sweep efficiency; automatic history matching of sweep efficiency; and calculations using Quantile-Quantile transformation and vizualization of permeability cube and other reservoir data. Clearly, the two applications above are NetBeans Platform applications.

  • Using Java PDFBox library to write Russian PDF

    - by Brad
I am using a Java library called PDFBox trying to write text to a PDF. It works perfect for English text, but when i tried to write Russian text inside the PDF the letters appeared so strange. It seems the problem is in the font used, but i am not so sure about that, so i hope if anyone could guide me through this. Here is the important code lines : PDTrueTypeFont font = PDTrueTypeFont.loadTTF( pdfFile, new File( "fonts/VREMACCI.TTF" ) ); // Windows Russian font imported to write the Russian text. font.setEncoding( new WinAnsiEncoding() ); // Define the Encoding used in writing. // Some code here to open the PDF & define a new page. contentStream.drawString( "??????? ????????????" ); // Write the Russian text. The WinAnsiEncoding source code is : Click here --------------------- Edit on 18 November 2009 After some investigation, i am now sure it is an Encoding problem, this could be solved by defining my own Encoding using the helpful PDFBox class called DictionaryEncoding. I am not sure how to use it, but here is what i have tried until now : COSDictionary cosDic = new COSDictionary(); cosDic.setString( COSName.getPDFName("Ercyrillic"), "0420 " ); // Russian letter. font.setEncoding( new DictionaryEncoding( cosDic ) ); This does not work, as it seems i am filling the dictionary in a wrong way, when i write a PDF page using this it appears blank. The DictionaryEncoding source code is : Click here Thanks . . .

  • How can I make a case-insensitive regexp match for Russian letters?

    - by jonny
I have list of catalog paths and need to filter out some of them. My match pattern is in a non-Unicode encoding. I tried the following: require 5.004; use POSIX qw(locale_h); my $old_locale = setlocale(LC_ALL); setlocale(LC_ALL, "ru_RU.cp1251"); @{$data -> {doc_folder_rights}} = grep { # catalog path pattern in $_REQUEST{q} $_->{doc_folder} =~/$_REQUEST{q}/i; } @{$data -> {doc_folder_rights}}; setlocale(LC_ALL, $old_locale); What I need is case-insensitive regexp pattern matching when pattern contains russsian letters.

  • Why do (Russian) characters in some received emails change when reading in David InfoCenter?

    - by waszkiewicz
I'm using David InfoCenter as email Software, and I have troubles with some of my emails in Russian. It's only a few letters, in some emails (sent from different people), like for example the "R" ("P" in russian) will be shown as a "T". In other emails in Russian, the problem doesn't appear. Isn't it strange? Does anyone had the same problem already and found where it came from? When I transmit that email to an external mailbox (internet email account), it's even worse, and gives me symbols instead of all Russian letters... The default encoding was "Russian (ISO)", I changed it to "Russian (Windows)", but same problem. Another weird reaction is when I write an intern email and name it TEST in Russian (????), with ???? in the text window, it changes the title to "Oano"? But the content stays in Russian... With Mailinator I got the following, for message and subject "????": Subject: ???? [..] MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/alternative; boundary="----_=_NextPart_000_00017783.4AF7FB71" This message is in MIME format. • Custom Filter in cPanel to Auto-Delete Emails with Russian Characters

    - by John Conde
I get a lot of spam to my email account from Russia. The emails themselves (name, subject, body) are in Russian and I was hoping to create a custom filter in cPanel (not in SpamAssassin but in cPanel itself) to catch these emails and delete them before they hit my inbox. I've tried setting up rules to flag emails with these characters but they still are getting through. This leads me to believe that there is an encoding issue at play here. Unfortunately I do not know how to overcome this. Ideas?

  • Reading in Russian characters (Unicode) using a basic_ifstream<wchar_t>

    - by Mark
Is this even possible? I've been trying to read a simple file that contains Russian, and it's clearly not working. I've called file.imbue(loc) (and at this point, loc is correct, Russian_Russia.1251). And buf is of type basic_string<wchar_t> The reason I'm using basic_ifstream<wchar_t> is because this is a template (so technically, basic_ifstream<T>, but in this case, T=wchar_t). This all works perfectly with english characters... while (file >> ch) { if(isalnum(ch, loc)) { buf += ch; } else if(!buf.empty()) { // Do stuff with buf. buf.clear(); } } I don't see why I'm getting garbage when reading Russian characters. (for example, if the file contains ??? ??? ???, I get "??E", 5(square), K(square), etc...

  • XML cdata tgas being erased when there's input in Russian

    - by Uri
Hello, I have a very strange problem which I will be very thankful if someone would help me with. I have a form that has a textarea whose content is later transferred to a page that has a line like this (using DOM with php to change data on an XML file): $dom-getElementsByTagName("page")-item($itemNum)-getElementsByTagName("lang")-item(1)-getElementsByTagName("text")-item(0)-firstChild-data=$_POST['rus0']; The XML file in question looks like this: The strange thing happens when I upload it to the server and try to input Russian text, in which case it erases the CDATA completely and results in And, weirdly, the thing works fine on my own server emulator (I'm using MAMP with php 5, the remote server also has php 5) - in my machine inputing Russian works fine. Any ideas what's going on in this?

  • Unable to see some Russian id3 tags in ncmpc

    - by ??????? ???????????
I'm running urxvt with the current env: $ env | grep LC LC_ALL=en_US.UTF-8 The problem is either with ncurses or ncmpc and I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on what the problem might be. This could also be an issue with the ID3 tags and any advice on working with broken or misconfigured encoding settings in meta tags in mp3 files is also welcome. I have been ignoring this matter for years and it has finally gotten to me. The bizarre thing is that some filenames or tags work, while others do not. What I have tried the following: setting LC_ALL to these values (whatever is before the space) ru_RU.KOI8-R KOI8-R ru_RU.UTF-8 UTF-8 ru_RU ISO-8859-5 rebuilding the MPD database with id3v1_encoding "ISO-8859-1" or id3v1_encoding "UTF-8" I can demonstrate the problem with two screen shots, as it's the easiest way to do so: Expected output (mpc works well): Broken encoding (ncmpc):
