I've been trying to use check_time.vbs to check the Windows time. Here's the script: http://pastebin.com/NfUrCAqU The help message could be display: C:\Program Files\NSClient++\scripts>cscript //NoLogo check_time.vbs /? check_time.vbs V1.01 Usage: cscript /NoLogo check_time.vbs serverlist warn crit [biggest] Options: serverlist (required): one or more server names, coma-separated warn (required): warning offset in seconds, can be partial crit (required): critical offset in seconds, can be partial biggest (optional): if multiple servers, else use default least offset Example: cscript /NoLogo check_time.vbs myserver1,myserver2 0.4 5 biggest But I get the following error when running: C:\Program Files\NSClient++\scripts>cscript //NoLogo check_time.vbs 0.asia.pool.ntp.org 20 50 C:\Program Files\NSClient++\scripts\check_time.vbs(53, 1) Microsoft VBScript run time error: Invalid procedure call or argument The screenshot: Manually execute w32tm still works fine: What might be the cause of this?

  • Networkmapping script (VBS) Vista doesn't work, XP does

    - by The_cobra666
Hi all, I've got a weird problem, (like always :p ) Okay: Situation: Windows 2003 domain with XP clients. With a GPO I'm running a VBS script on login to map a few drives. This works great on XP, but not on Vista. If I manually run the script after the user has logged on, it works. So I know the script works on Vista, it just doesn't run via the GPO. The user has admin privileges. I also have the same problem on Windows 7 RC1. So it must be related. The script: on error resume next Dim objNetwork Dim strDriveLetter, strRemotePath, strUserName strDriveLetter = "Z:" strRemotePath = "\\Onsgeluk.ons_geluk.local\Profieldoc" Set objNetwork = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Network") strUserName = objNetwork.UserName objNetwork.RemoveNetworkDrive "Z:" objNetwork.MapNetworkDrive strDriveLetter, strRemotePath _ & "\" & strUserName objNetwork.RemoveNetworkDrive "X:" objNetwork.MapNetworkDrive "X:" , "\\Onsgeluk.ons_geluk.local\Data" objNetwork.RemoveNetworkDrive "Y:" objNetwork.MapNetworkDrive "Y:" , "\\Onsgeluk.ons_geluk.local\Mappen\hoofdverpleging" Does anyone have a clue? Thanks in advance guys (and girls) ps: sorry for my bad english!

  • Task Scheduler not running .bat or .vbs successfully

    - by Django Reinhardt
Hi there, got this weird problem, which will hopefully have an obvious solution for some enlightened soul: We have several daily tasks we run via a .vbs script on our server (through the Task Scheduler), and for months it has been fine, but recently we've hit a problem. The .vbs script stopped successfully executing... but oddly it worked fine when ran manually! The error given in these circumstances was always "Timeout". We thought we try a little creative thinking, and run the .vbs another way: Via a .bat file. Again we hit weird issues, but with a little more debugging information, this time around. The .bat file is nothing more than... CScript "C:\location\script.vbs" > Log.txt But the Task Scheduler fails with the following error: 0x1: An incorrect function was called or an unknown function was called. The log.txt file says: CScript Error: Initialization of the Windows Script Host failed. (Not enough storage is available to process this command. ) But get this: The .bat file executes perfectly (vbs script and all) if it's executed with a double click! There's only a problem when it's run by Task Scheduler. What the hell? We're running Windows Server 2008 R2 (x64) and yes, the Task Sheduler's results are the same whether the user is logged in or not. Also, the user that can run the scripts successfully manually, is also the same user that runs the scripts in Task Scheduler. Thanks for any help for this weird problem!

  • Task Scheduler not able to execute .vbs scripts successfully

    - by Django Reinhardt
Apologies if this has a really obvious answer! We have several daily tasks we run via a .vbs script on our server (through the Task Scheduler), and for months it has been fine, but recently we've hit a problem. The .vbs scripts stopped successfully executing (always timing out)... but could still be executed manually with no problems(!). Not knowing any good reason why the Task Scheduler should start having problems, we thought we'd try a little "creative thinking", and run the .vbs another way: Via a .bat file executed by the Task Scheduler. Again we hit weird issues, but with a little more debugging information, this time around. The .bat file run by Task Scheduler is nothing more than... CScript "C:\location\script.vbs" > Log.txt But after an attempt to run it, the Task Scheduler fails with the following error: 0x1: An incorrect function was called or an unknown function was called. The Log.txt (as output from the .bat file above) says: CScript Error: Initialization of the Windows Script Host failed. (Not enough storage is available to process this command. ) But get this: The .bat file executes perfectly (vbs script and all) if it's executed with a double click! There's only a problem when it's run by Task Scheduler. What the hell? • Using WSH (VBS) with iMacros - how do they do it?

    - by Carl
(iMacros For Firefox 6.6.5.0; Firefox 3.6.3; Windows XP Pro SP3 w/all updates) I made an iMacro to select "load next 25" (comments) on a web page (CNN.COM). Unfortunately, iMacros doesn't appear to do looping (do the above until that string doesn't appear on the page anymore - i.e. all the comments are loaded). I tried putting {!iloop} in the TAG command, and it didn't work - then I read it wouldn't. So I tried the example at http://wiki.imacros.net/Loop_after_Query_or_Login I can't find any information on how to actually run the script in the above example. I searched Google and found VBS scripting is handled with .wsh files with Windows XP Pro. (The examples and other references there say Windows does VBS natively, so I looked up how with Google.) So I made the following .wsh file (modified the above example): Option Explicit Dim iim1, iret 'initialize iMacros instance set iim1 = CreateObject ("imacros") iret = iim1.iimInit() do while not iret < 0 iret = iim1.iimPlay("Load All CNN Comments") loop ' tell user we're done msgbox "End." ' exit iMacros instance and quit script iret = iim1.iimExit() Wscript.Quit() Here's the iMacro: (Load All CNN Comments.iim) VERSION BUILD=6650406 RECORDER=FX TAG POS=1 TYPE=A ATTR=TXT:Load<SP>next<SP>25 WAIT SECONDS=#DOWNLOADCOMPLETE# The iMacro works by itself - I press Play (left iMacro panel) and the next 25 comments load on the CNN.com page in the current tab. I put the .wsh file in the ...\iMacros\Macros directory - with the iMacro "Load All CNN Comments.iim" When I run the .wsh file (by just double clicking on it's icon - I created it with Notepad, and Windows gave it an icon for that file type - it's executable) I get the message from "Windows Script Host" - "There is no script file specified." I wasn't actually expecting it to work, as I don't see how Windows would know to call iMacros to run the iim macro. It would be nice if there was a simple, COMPLETE, example of how to use a VBS script with iMacros, that isn't bogged down with unnecessary complication like filling in a form, loading multiple pages, etc. I can't find ANY example. So what do I need to do to get this to work? I just installed iMacros yesterday, because I am constantly having the problem that there are hundred of comments after a CNN.com article, and loading 25 more at a time until they are all on the page makes it impractical to read any replies to my comments. It would also be nice if I could run the Macro from Firefox, rather than by double clicking on some file somewhere. Thanks for any help.

  • What's the vbs code to schedule a task every time Windows starts up?

    - by Wing C. Chen
I would like to know how to write up the vbs code to schedule a windows task to start a .exe program every time the Windows starts up. I found the following code online: strComputer = "." Set objWMIService = GetObject("winmgmts:" _ & "{impersonationLevel=impersonate}!\\" & strComputer & "\root\cimv2") Set objNewJob = objWMIService.Get("Win32_ScheduledJob") errJobCreated = objNewJob.Create _ ("Notepad.exe", "********123000.000000-420", _ True , 1 OR 4 OR 16, , , JobID) Wscript.Echo errJobCreated But it only tells me how to schedule the task every on some specific days and hours. I thought of creating a windows service. However the following is the story why I must look for an alternative to it. I created a windows service with RunAsService for my java program wrapped with Janel. The Service worked fine when I first installed and started it. However, after restarting my windows xp, a dialog window poped out saying that my janel generated .exe file has crashed, with my RunAsService service kept on going. The service worked fine when I terminated the service and restarted it again manually. Nevertheless, the same crash happens over and over again every time I restart my Windows.

  • Can I use adsutil.vbs to remove the 'X—Powered-By' response header from IIS6

    - by Anthony
Can I use adsutil.vbs to remove the 'X—Powered-By' response header from IIS6 configuration? We have a site that is running IIS6. Migration to IIS7 is a few months away at least. In the mean time, I have noticed that it is serving the header X—Powered-By: ASP.NET on all responses. I want this gone, and I would strongly prefer to script this so that future deployments also ensure that the header is not present. Is there a way to do this using adsutil.vbs?

  • Scripting Windows Shares - VBS

    - by Calvin Piche
So i am totally new to VBS, never used it. I am trying to create multiple shares and i found a Microsoft VBS script that can do this(http://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/scriptcenter/6309d93b-fcc3-4586-b102-a71415244712) My question is, this script only allows for one domain group or user to be added for permissions where i am needing to add a couple with different permissions(got that figured out) Below is the script that i have modified for my needs but just need to add in the second group with the other permissions. If there is an easier way to do this please let me know. • Convert VBA to VBS

    - by dnLL
I have a little VBA script with some functions that I would like to convert to a single VBS file. Here is an example of what I got: Private Declare Function GetPrivateProfileString Lib "kernel32" Alias "GetPrivateProfileStringA" (ByVal lpApplicationName As String, ByVal lpKeyName As Any, ByVal lpDefault As String, ByVal lpReturnedString As String, ByVal nSize As Long, ByVal lpFileName As String) As Long Private Function ReadIniFileString(ByVal Sect As String, ByVal Keyname As String) As String Dim Worked As Long Dim RetStr As String * 128 Dim StrSize As Long Dim iNoOfCharInIni As Integer Dim sIniString, sProfileString As String iNoOfCharInIni = 0 sIniString = "" If Sect = "" Or Keyname = "" Then MsgBox "Erreur lors de la lecture des paramètres dans " & IniFileName, vbExclamation, "INI" Access.Application.Quit Else sProfileString = "" RetStr = Space(128) StrSize = Len(RetStr) Worked = GetPrivateProfileString(Sect, Keyname, "", RetStr, StrSize, IniFileName) If Worked Then iNoOfCharInIni = Worked sIniString = Left$(RetStr, Worked) End If End If ReadIniFileString = sIniString End Function And then, I need to use this function to put some values in strings. VBS doesn't seem to like any of my var declaration ((Dim) MyVar As MyType). If I'm able to adapt that code to VBS, I should be able to do the rest of my functions too. How can I adapt/convert this to VBS? Thank you.

  • Why does this VBS scheduled task (to call a URL) not work in Windows Server 2008?

    - by user303644
This same script worked in older server OS environments, and even on my desktop; and allows me to kick off a nightly process on my website's URL. It simply will not execute the URL in my Windows Server 2008 environment. It does not generate any errors, claiming task completion I can pull the same URL up just fine in the server's web browser I have the script running with "highest privileges" I even tried to create a batch file which executes it, so I can explicitly "Run as Administrator" and it still will not execute the URL (but will not generate any errors either). I'm baffled as to why the task claims to have completed successfully, yet the script never reaches the URL. Call LogEntry() Sub LogEntry() 'Force the script to finish on an error. On Error Resume Next 'Declare variables Dim objRequest Dim URL Set objRequest = CreateObject("MSXML2.ServerXMLHTTP") 'Put together the URL link appending the Variables. URL = "http://myURL/AutorunNightlyTasks.aspx" 'Open the HTTP request and pass the URL to the objRequest object objRequest.open "GET", URL, False 'Send the HTML Request objRequest.send() 'Set the object to nothing Set objRequest = Nothing End Sub

  • ts_block.vbs and mac intosh

    - by Eric Le breton
I am using your excellent ts_blocker, release 20120530, on my server 2008 R2 Enterprise. it works very fine, i use the vbs script, launched with wscript. The only problem is that is does not work for users attempting to connect RDP from a mac intosh. With this machine the distant IP seems to be not recognized when the login fails. The IP is visible when the login is good (event ID 4624) but not when it fails (Audit failure event ID 4625) : then the IP is not to be seen in the event log ! In the "network information" of the event log entry is nothing given. Have you already been told of that and is there something to do ?

  • vbs - 800A0401 - Expected End of Statement

    - by user93200
The bat has >>%vbs% echo oShellLink.IconLocation = "%1, 0"to produce oShellLink.IconLocation = ""C:\WINDOWS\NOTEPAD.exe", 0"` where %1 is a quoted path However, unless I remove the quotes from path like here: oShellLink.IconLocation = "C:\WINDOWS\NOTEPAD.exe, 0" I get the titular error. What do you suggest? (Note that %1 is always supplied with quotes) Also, I'm not very familiar with vbscript, why does it require no quotes next to each other? ... Still not clear why vbscript can't interpret this assignment, but found a fix: %~1 - Expands %1 and removes any surrounding quotation marks ("").

  • MDT 2010 Litetouch.vbs Fails to Launch

    - by Mitch
I have the custom image captured. Import the image and files. Prepare the customsettings.ini and the boot.ini to minimize the questions the deployment team will need to answer. Everything works like a charm on virtual machines but when I map to the scripts folder on the deployment share and double-click litetouch.vbs it creates the c:\minint folder, subfolders, and a couple of log files then nothing. Here's what the log files look like: <![LOG[Property LogPath is now = C:\MININT\SMSOSD\OSDLOGS]LOG]!><time="15:54:28.000+000" date="03-08-2011" component="LiteTouch" context="" type="1" thread="" file="LiteTouch"> <![LOG[Property CleanStart is now = ]LOG]!><time="15:54:28.000+000" date="03-08-2011" component="LiteTouch" context="" type="1" thread="" file="LiteTouch"> <![LOG[Microsoft Deployment Toolkit version: 5.1.1642.01]LOG]!><time="15:54:28.000+000" date="03-08-2011" component="LiteTouch" context="" type="1" thread="" file="LiteTouch"> <![LOG[Property Debug is now = FALSE]LOG]!><time="15:54:28.000+000" date="03-08-2011" component="LiteTouch" context="" type="1" thread="" file="LiteTouch"> <![LOG[GetAllFixedDrives(False)]LOG]!><time="15:54:28.000+000" date="03-08-2011" component="LiteTouch" context="" type="1" thread="" file="LiteTouch"> Anyone encounter this before or know what might be happening/not happening and can direct me in the right way? Xml is encoded in utf-8 and has appropriate header From vbs script I use microsoft xmldom parser to read xml: Dim objXMLDoc Set objXMLDoc = CreateObject( "Microsoft.XMLDOM" ) objXMLDoc.load("vbs_strings.xml") Inside xml I'm trying to write character by code using &#nnn; notation. Then I read this character from vbscript and try to get it's code using Asc() function. For some characters it works fine and read code is equal to one written. But for some characters Asc() always returns code 63. What could it be? Examples: If xml contains <section>&#195;<section> and in script I have Section variable for representing this xml node then code: Asc(Section.Text) will return value 195 and it's ok. If xml contains <section>&#110;<section> then code: Asc(Section.Text) will return value 110 and it's ok. But if xml contains <section>&#130;<section> or <section>&#156;<section> or <section>&#140;<section> Asc(Section.Text) will return value 63 and it's definitely not good. Do you know why?

  • VBS script works on XP 32-bit but not on 7 64-bit

    - by neurolysis
This script (a modification of one of Rob van der Woude's) works fine on XP 32-bit, but fails on 7 64-bit at Set objDialog = CreateObject( "UserAccounts.CommonDialog" ), with something similar to the error (translated from Dutch) ActiveX cannot create the object "UserAccounts.CommonDialog". Is there some different way that I have to do this for it to be compatible with Windows 7? MsgBox("Your input avi MUST be exported at 60fps, or this script will not work."),0,"IMPORTANT!" MsgBox("Please select the location of your AVI."),0,"AVI location" WScript.Echo GetFileName( "", "AVI files (*.avi)|*.avi" ) Function GetFileName( myDir, myFilter ) Dim objDialog Set objDialog = CreateObject( "UserAccounts.CommonDialog" ) If myDir = "" Then objDialog.InitialDir = CreateObject( "WScript.Shell" ).SpecialFolders( "MyDocuments" ) Else objDialog.InitialDir = myDir End If If myFilter = "" Then objDialog.Filter = "All files|*.*" Else objDialog.Filter = myFilter End If If objDialog.ShowOpen Then GetFileName = objDialog.FileName Else GetFileName = "" End If End Function

  • Using 32bit COM object from C# or VBS on Vista 64bit and getting error 80004005

    - by alexandroid
I need some mind reading here, since I am trying to do what I do not completely understand. There is a 32-bit application (electronic trading application called CQG) which provides a COM API for external access. I have sample programs and scripts which access this API from Excel, .NET (C++, VB and C#) and shell VBScript. I have these .NET applications as source code and as compiled executables (32-bit, compiled on Windows XP). Now I have Windows Vista Home 64-bit which makes my head to spin. Excel examples work just fine (in Excel 2003). Compiled .NET sample executables work as well. But when I am trying to run .NET C# sample converted to and compiled by Visual Studio C# Expression, or run the VBScript script, I am getting error 80004005 when trying to create an object. Initially the .NET application also gave me 80040154 but then I figured how to make it produce 32-bit code and not 64-bit, so now the errors in C# and VBScript applications are the same. That's all the progress I got for now. And yes, I tried running 32-bit versions of cscript.exe/WScript from SysWOW64 folder on my VBS, but still the result is the same (80004005). How to solve this problem? I am almost ready to believe it is practically impossible, but the fact that Excel VBA works and .NET executables compiled on Windows XP run just fine just makes me angry. There should be a way to beat this thing (some secret which probably only Windows Vista developers know)! I will appreciate any help! PS: I believe code samples do not make much sense here, but this is the line of VBScript which fails: Set CEL = WScript.CreateObject("CQG.CQGCEL.4.0", "CEL_") And this is C#: CQGCEL CEL = new CQGCEL(); Update: Forgot to say UAC is off, of course. And I am working from account with administrator priviledges. I also tried watching which registry keys are read using Process Monitor but everything looks OK for GUIDs of this object. I could not recognize some other GUIDs so I am not sure whether they were critical or not. Is there a chance that this COM object uses Internet Explorer and gets the wrong one (like Internet Explorer 7 instead of Internet Explorer 6 engine or something)?

  • VBS Script Help.

    - by MalsiaPro
    I managed to get this code from you guys here, thanks so much with a collegue of mine, I ran this code a few times and it seems to work but stops after a while due to protected files such as system files, "Permission Denied" and then the script just stops, is there a way to modify the code below so that it can handle such protected files or whether it can pass them. Any advice or help is appreciated. Set objFS=CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject") WScript.Echo Chr(34) & "Full Path" &_ Chr(34) & "," & Chr(34) & "File Size" &_ Chr(34) & "," & Chr(34) & "File Date modified" &_ Chr(34) & "," & Chr(34) & "File Date Created" &_ Chr(34) & "," & Chr(34) & "File Date Accessed" & Chr(34) Set objArgs = WScript.Arguments strFolder = objArgs(0) Set objFolder = objFS.GetFolder(strFolder) Go (objFolder) Sub Go(objDIR) If objDIR <> "\System Volume Information" Then For Each eFolder in objDIR.SubFolders Go eFolder Next End If For Each strFile In objDIR.Files WScript.Echo Chr(34) & strFile.Path & Chr(34) & "," &_ Chr(34) & strFile.Size & Chr(34) & "," &_ Chr(34) & strFile.DateLastModified & Chr(34) & "," &_ Chr(34) & strFile.DateCreated & Chr(34) & "," &_ Chr(34) & strFile.DateLastAccessed & Chr(34) Next End Sub Then call it from the command line like this. c:\test> cscript //nologo myscript.vbs "c:\" > "C:\test\Output.csv" Thank you :)

  • How can I click through an alert box with a VBScript automating IE?

    - by DeliriumTremens
I have a VBScript that is running through a list of actions in IE, and at one point the site displays an Alert box with "OK" and "Cancel" as options. 'OK' is focused when the alert box appears, however SendKeys "{ENTER}" isn't doing the trick. I think perhaps the browser window still has the focus of the VBS. How can I tell the VBS to 'OK' the alert box and continue with the routines?
