How to avoid SMS delays when using SMS via Email

I currently run an alert system and send approximately 3,000 text messages/day. I noticed that while many of my subscribers receive the alert immediately, an annoyingly large percentage don't receive the message for at least 2 hours. Any way to fix this?

email is moved to junk-email folder even though sender is listed as safe
