Lives Video Editor fails to launch

Lives Video Editor fails to start, all plugins load, but program then hangs when starting pulse audio server.

Lives Video Editor: http://lives.sourceforge.net/

Pulseaudio is installed and the daemon is running.

I have run:

sudo apt-get purge lives

And re-installed:

sudo apt-get install lives

OS: Ubuntu 11.10 64bit Ubuntu 12.04LTS 64bit

Does anyone know where the config files are kept for Lives?

Any ideas?
