Dell Inspiron touchpad not working

I own a Dell Inspiron on which I installed 12.04 on. Everything was working great up until a couple of weeks ago when the Touchpad stopped working. It doesn't show up in mouse/touchpad settings either.

I was wondering if anyone has had the same problem with 12.04 and was able to fix it. I am a noob when it comes to computer code and stuff like that, so please try to keep the answer noob proof.

Also, does anyone know if the guys behind Ubuntu will have an update to fix this problem?
