GNOME Desktop fonts problem debacle

I didn't get an answer but I wasn't doing anything and this is an interesting topic. In Ubuntu 12.04, opening a file in gedit or I am working on the command line, in dpkg, I get returned the error "locale not supported, falling back to default "C" libraries", and the one below,

Gtk-WARNING **: Locale not supported by C library.
    Using the fallback 'C' locale.

The locales were not set correctly, and locale LANG and LANGUAGE were the culprits.

I picked my way through this.
