I can't get Gutenprint to install with 13.10

Canon pixma ip4200 printer... the install printer dialog offers gutenprint drivers then stalls out when I try to install them.

Ran alien to unload Canons Linux drivers for the printeraqnd got this message:

patrickxxxAspire-5253:~/Downloads$ sudo alien cnijfilter-common-2.60-4.src.rpm cnijfilter-common-2.60-4.src.rpm is for architecture i386 ; the package cannot be built on this system

What am I to do???
