  • access server from blocked machine

    I want to access my Linux server(vnc) from a distant machine which has most ports blocked with the exception of 21, 25, 80, 135, and 445. So, I would like to know if theres a way to communicate with my vnc server on the server, while using an available port on client. i.e. port 25 So I think essentially I need the serverside router to forward packets coming in on port 25 to linux server machine(servername, p5900), which should forward them on to itself on port 5900. And when transmitting, I need the server OR to router to send out packets changing their port to 25. Im totally lost on how to acheive this. Please help(much appreciated). Thanks I do not use smtp.

A leg may be settled or unsettled (or unsettled but price confirmed) - thus I have defined the active pattern: let (|LegIsSettled|LegIsConfirmed|LegIsUnsettled|) (l: tradeLeg) = if Helper.exists l.actuals then LegIsSettled elif Helper.exists l.confirmedPrice then LegIsConfirmed else LegIsUnsettled and then to determine if a trade is settled (based on all legs matching LegIsSettled pattern: let (|TradeIsSettled|TradeIsUnsettled|) (t: trade) = if List.exists ( fun l -> match l with | LegIsSettled -> false | _ -> true) t.tradeLegs then TradeIsSettled else TradeIsUnsettled I can see some advantages of this use of active patterns, however i would think there is a more efficient way to see if any item of a list either matches (or doesn't) an actie pattern without having to write a lambda expression specifically for it, and using List.exist. Question is two fold: is there a more concise way to express this? is there a way to abstract the functionality / expression (fun l - match l with | LegIsSettled - false | _ - true) Such that let itemMatchesPattern pattern item = match item with | pattern -> true | _ -> false such I could write (as I am reusing this design-pattern): let curriedItemMatchesPattern = itemMatchesPattern LegIsSettled if List.exists curriedItemMatchesPattern t.tradeLegs then TradeIsSettled else TradeIsUnsettled Thoughts?

  • C# Execute Method (with Parameters) with ThreadPool

    We have the following piece of code (idea for this code was found on this website) which will spawn new threads for the method "Do_SomeWork()". This enables us to run the method multiple times asynchronously. The code is: var numThreads = 20; var toProcess = numThreads; var resetEvent = new ManualResetEvent(false); for (var i = 0; i < numThreads; i++) { new Thread(delegate() { Do_SomeWork(Parameter1, Parameter2, Parameter3); if (Interlocked.Decrement(ref toProcess) == 0) resetEvent.Set(); }).Start(); } resetEvent.WaitOne(); However we would like to make use of ThreadPool rather than create our own new threads which can be detrimental to performance. The question is how can we modify the above code to make use of ThreadPool keeping in mind that the method "Do_SomeWork" takes multiple parameters and also has a return type (i.e. method is not void). Also, this is C# 2.0.

  • Setting up a Git remote with a truncated history

    I am in the midst of doing some non-standard, probably doomed, experiments on a git repository. The goal is to create a remote repository with a truncated history which can still share commits with an internal repository which has a full history. I've had some success using a graft to connect the public history with the private history - when I push from my internal repository, only the post-graft contents are included. So my main question is: what is the simplest way of taking a commit, eliminating its parent and writing a graft in place of the parent? A more general question: is what I'm trying to do going to cause me pain in the long run, do you know if there's a better way?

  • How do i prevent my code from being stolen?

    What happens exactly when I launch a .NET exe? I know that C# is compiled to IL code and I think the generated exe file just a launcher that starts the runtime and passes the IL code to it. But how? And how complex process is it? IL code is embedded in the exe. I think it can be executed from the memory without writing it to the disk while ordinary exe's are not (ok, yes but it is very complicated). My final aim is extracting the IL code and write my own encrypted launcher to prevent scriptkiddies to open my code in Reflector and just steal all my classes easily. Well I can't prevent reverse engineering completely. If they are able to inspect the memory and catch the moment when I'm passing the pure IL to the runtime then it won't matter if it is a .net exe or not, is it? I know there are several obfuscator tools but I don't want to mess up the IL code itself. EDIT: so it seems it isn't worth trying what I wanted. They will crack it anyway... So I will look for an obfuscation tool. And yes my friends said too that it is enough to rename all symbols to a meaningless name. And reverse engineering won't be so easy after all.

  • When to use a module, and when to use a class

    I am currently working through the Gregory Brown Ruby Best Practices book. Early on, he is talking about refactoring some functionality from helper methods on a related class, to some methods on module, then had the module extend self. Hadn't seen that before, after a quick google, found out that extend self on a module lets methods defined on the module see each other, which makes sense. Now, my question is when would you do something like this module StyleParser extend self def process(text) ... end def style_tag?(text) ... end end and then refer to it in tests with @parser = Prawn::Document::Text::StyleParser as opposed to just using a class with some class methods on it? is it so that you can use it as a mixin? or are there other reasons I'm not seeing?

    Hello, I'm writing an application in Delphi (have two over revisions of it written in both C# and Visual Basic, also). But, I've got a Word file that I'm trying to process and it has a Date FieldCode in the Header. My code is not finding the field code for some odd reason. It says there's no Fields in the Header. How to make sure that the application is not tampered with, and how to make sure that the registration mechanism can't be reverse engineered. Also it is possible to make to convert C# app in native code, Xenocode is too costly. C# provides lot of features, and is the ideal language for my code, so writing in C++ again the whole codebase is out of question. Secure certificates can be easily removed from the signed assemblies in .NET

    I use Outlook 2007 at home as an IMAP client and RSS feed reader. I have a problem that when I close outlook, the window exits, but the process remains running. This prevents me from opening outlook again and on Win7 prevents rapid shutdown of my computer. How can I have Outlook 2007 exit for real?   • Flex + PHP + ValueObjects

    I have a php/flex value object that I am using to transmit data to/from in my application. Everything works great php-flex, but I am having an issue with flex-php. In my MergeTemplateService.php service I have the following code. This is the method that flex hits directly: function updateTemplate($valueObject){ $object = DAOFactory::getMergeTemplateDAO()->update($valueObject); return $object; } I am passing a value object that from flex looks like this: (com.rottmanj.vo::MergeTemplateVO)#0 communityID = 0 creationDate = (null) enterpriseID = 0 lastModifyDate = (null) templateID = 2 templateName = "My New Test Template" userID = 0 The issue I am having is that my updateTemplate method sees the value object as an array and not an object.     I have a MySQL InnoDB table laid out like so: id (int), run_id (int), element_name (varchar), value (text), line_order, column_order `MyDB`.`MyTable` ( `id` bigint(20) NOT NULL, `run_id` int(11) NOT NULL, `element_name` varchar(255) NOT NULL, `value` text, `line_order` int(11) default NULL, `column_order` int(11) default NULL It is used to store data generated by a Java program that used to output this in CSV format, hence the line_order and column_order. Lets say I have 2 entries (according to the table description): 1,1,'ELEMENT 1','A',0,0 2,1,'ELEMENT 2','B',0,1 I want to pivot this data in a view for reporting so that it would look like more like the CSV would, where the output would look this: --------------------- |ELEMENT 1|ELEMENT 2| --------------------- | A | B | --------------------- The data coming in is extremely dynamic; it can be in any order, can be any of over 900 different elements, and the value could be anything. The Run ID ties them all together, and the line and column order basically let me know where the user wants that data to come back in order.

  • Custom title bar without padding (Android)

    So I am using the techniques in this thread to use a custom background for my titlebar. Unfortunately the framework places my layout inside a FrameLayout which has padding and so the image doesn't cover the whole bar, but instead has gray borderes. Is there anyway to remove this padding? I can't just set the padding attributes because I do not create the frame layout.

    I have an application, which has a Spinner that I want populated with some numbers (4,8,12,16).   • Updating rows using "in" operator in "where" clause

    Hi. I stumbled upon SQL behavior I don't understand. I needed to update several rows in a table at once; started with just finding them: SELECT * FROM some_table WHERE field1 IN (SELECT ...) This returned a selection of about 60 rows. Now I was pretty confident I got the subquery right, so I modified the first part only: UPDATE some_table SET field2 = some_value WHERE field1 IN (SELECT ...) In other words, this was exactly as the first query after the WHERE. However, it resulted in 0 rows updated, whereas I would expect those 60. Note that the statement above would change field2, i.e. I verified that some_value was not present in the selected rows. The subquery was a modestly complicated SQL piece with 2 (different) tables, 1 view, joins and its own WHERE clause. In case this matters, it happened with Oracle Database 10g. So, the question is, why UPDATE didn't touch the rows returned by SELECT?

  • IE7 modal dialog scrollbars overlap content

    Here's the offending code. To test it, save it in a file called "test.html" and click the button in the top-left corner. <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html> <head> <title>Blarg</title> <style type='text/css'> body { margin: 20px; } #test { background: red; height: 2000px; } </style> </head> <body> <div id="test"><input type='button' onclick="javascript:window.showModalDialog('test.html', window, 'dialogWidth: 300px; resizable: yes;');" /></div> </body> </html> If I open the page in normal IE7 window, it works fine. However, if I open it in an IE7 modal dialog, it draws the vertical scrollbar on top of the margin. What's even worse, because it draws the scrollbar on top of the margin, it also causes a horizontal scrollbar to be drawn. How do I work around this? I absolutely must use the IE modal dialog, I'm not at liberty to change that.
